Zte z820 metro stock rom or stock backup? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello i have a zte z820 i found on the ground ive waited a week and no one has called it or locked it. it has a pattern so i couldant find any way to give it back to owner.
so i would like to use it as a media phone
so unaware of FRP and kill switch because all the other phones ive reset never had this
i reset this phone and when it booted it wanted the google account from the previous owner.
two questions...
1. if i could find a stock rom or stock backup(the stock recovery has a backup restore feature?) could i just restore from that and that would wipe the system directory and i could continue?
2. can someone backup their zte z820 metro pcs and send me the link?
or can soemone assist be me getting around frp

Let me know if you got this done.... I too need stock rom

yeah i dont believe anyone is willing to help with this issue or device in general. luckily the phone is cheap enough to not be hurt by getting a new phone instead

if someone can pull firmware from working device i can buy one just for that.....

i also have this phone with bootloop problem ... i also need its firmware ...

I got an update I have ignored for weeks and two days ago I noticed my message won't open so I decided to update . that was the end of this phone. I have been looking for firmware, what did I do to zte

Hi! thanks XDA people. I believe someone in this forum should be able to get us the stock ROM just so we can fix our devices and quit complaining. This place is largely our best hope. Mine is ZTE Z820 OBSIDIAN

Stock Rom backup - how do I get unrooted stock rom?

This is my first android phone, so this is probably a really dumb question...
But from my over 6 years of experience with customizing smartphones (they where still called PDAs or Pocket-PCs back than hehe) I learned one important rule: Always back up everything you need to get it back to stock settings, in case you ever need to RMA it.
I just spend a full evening on research, but it seems like its really not possible to backup the system without voiding the warranty aka rooting the phone. Is that right? Since I have a very peculiar item to start with, a Huawei u8160 aka Vodafone 858 smart with a Swisscom branded Rom, its impossible to find that particular rom on the net. I guess I can always go with a Vodafone stock rom and return it directly to Huawei instead of Swisscom, but than again: will those roms be unrooted? If so, how did anyone acquire them?
Once I am sure I have no chance anyway, I can go on rooting the phone with a clear conscience. But if there is a chance to get that stock rom saved first, I would be a little more relaxed with future customization.
Thanks for any advice you can give.
The only way to backup your System is a custom-recovery. I'm sure, you will find it here on XDA.
This might help you get in the right direction

OK, I will try to place the CWM recovery.img on the phone via fastboot.exe as described here.
Hope this works out In either case: Thank you for the hints!
Worked. I guess this didn't fullfill the whole idea of backing up everything before editing anything, since I have overwritten the stock-recovery. But whatever. Phone is rooted now and I am ready to dive in.
Cheers

[Q] Pantech Flex P8010 Stock ROM and Files

Hi,
I have a Pantech Flex P8010. I never thought it would be updated to jb. So I rooted it. Removed all bloated applications from it. Changed the recovery to CWM. I haven't taken any back up before the bloat removal. All I have is the cwm backup of the debloated version.
Now Pantech have released the jb ota. Oh well I never knew that this was going to happen ever.
I have a couple of questions.
Is there any way to update the phone to jb with the root privilege?
Is there any way to return to complete stock?
Will the recovery and bootloader image available in the forums be useful?
Any help would be really great help.
Thanks a lot.
hi
can someone pls upload or send me a stock rom for the flex i lose my backup when my sister mess with my computer
I think we should wait. You can make back up even now if your device is bootable..
What recovery u use? Clockworkmod?

As it sits right now unfortunately we have no complete stock image to put back on the phone in order to restore it to a pure factory state. The factory restore on the phone does not affect the recovery only the data. In as much OTA updates are not available at this time and probably never since this phone is getting older. If you attempt to install the OTA update and get caught in the CWM bootloop simply start the phone in fastboot mode (I believe it is power + the volume down key on this phone) and choose the reboot option it will then skip the recovery and start the phone normally. Sorry I don't have any better answers for you. I'm hoping to land an HTC One in the near future...
I have the same problem :\ i removed all the at&t apps and the at&t software updater and when i go to update setting force close :,(

I also accidentally removed 1 too many of the at&t apps from my Pantech Flex using Titanium Backup. I am already running the 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update.
Would anyone out there be willing to use Titanium Backup to create 'backups' of the stock Pantech AT&T apps for us to recover with?
I'd be willing to pay for the Titanium Backup app as well as a bit for the time and effort.
Thanks!
Update to JB
Hi guys, maybe this was asked before, I want to know, now is possible to update to JB if I have a stock ICS? I know it was possible before but many peoples were facing a WiFi problem. I am on stock ICS, but would like to try JB.

Ok, thank you very much. Still, I have some questions if you don't mind. First I have to install CWM on my Flex, or is it already in my phone? If there is a tutorial that wil be nice, if not i will find somehow how to do it. I am just new to Android, my last phone was a Symbian one (Nokia C7) and it was pretty easy to install a new firmware on that one.

If you have a nandroid back up of your phone, just restore that. Even if it is old, it doesn't matter. You can also try to restore the factory firmware and then apply the OTA update. This is done differently depending on the phone, but usually there are instructions for it on the manufacturer's website or if you are lucky the manufacturer has software designed to do this from your PC.

[Q] Best way to activate from Custom ROM?

This was my mother's phone originally. I worked on it like 8 months ago, so I couldn't even begin to recount the actual steps I took to get it unlocked/custom rom'd.
But I do know, it's currently showing S-OFF, hboot 1.40.1100, I've got TWRP on it, and CM 11(did that a few weeks ago to check out the latest features).
Phone has no active service through Sprint. I'm going to activate it on Ting(already checked the ESN, they say it will activate) Problem is, when I put my Galaxy s2 on Ting, I had to temp-boot the stock rom in order for the phone to do whatever it needs to do to activate service, and also if I wanted to update the PRL and whatnot. So my question is, does anyone know if that is necessary with this phone? And if so, is there an easy way to temp-boot into a stock rom to get the job done?
I came across the Boot Manager Lite app(which wouldn't load and I had to uninstall), but I assume that works with any rom zip that is flashable through cwm/twrp, which I can't seem to find one for stock.
Anyone have any ideas on the easiest way to do this? Or is it even necessary to be in stock to activate? Or if I have to go fully back to stock to activate and then back to custom, is it going to be a nightmare like I remember it being to unlock the thing originally? Any help on this is appreciated. Thanks guys.
*EDIT* Also, if anyone can give me a good answer/quick instruction, and has a Ting referral code, I'll be glad to use it when I activate. $20 for me, $20 for you. Win/Win Otherwise I'm using the code from a popular Youtuber, lol
**EDIT2** Think I may have just solved my own problem, If so, I'll post the solution, so that this thread is not a total waste.

International Android phone Marozi

I am officially stuck in bootloop after editing the build prop; trying to get split screen ability. I do not have a back up, but truly I thought I did. It is rooted but no custom recovery installed. I have tried to reset to factory but it does nothing. The brand is Marozi the model is C8000 OTA. It had Android 5.1.1 can anyone help me? If there are any downloadable Android images or Android OTA files that I can use to flash the Android image back on the phone since I do have root privileges would help. I am completely okay doing a clean install and wiping the phone. I can absolutely even flash a ROM that is compatible with my phone and go that route as well. At this point I am willing to try anything and do everything to have it working again. Personal life is very unsafe with two kids and I need a working phone and honestly cannot afford to buy a new one. A case of beer to anyone who can help me.
Thank you!
Candace
