The problem is in the partition or block.
Download firmware and flash it and try again.

[Q] stuck without an OS

hello
i rooted the phone and installed recovery , downloaded custom rom and placed it by mistake on the EXTERNAL SD instead of the internal , and i formatted the OS (without making a backup) , and then i found out that CWM doesn't support external SD on the GS2 .. so now i'm stuck without a OS..
i googled a lot and i found only 1 topic about the same problem , and the solution there was to flash stock using odin , so i looked for the stock rom that i had (Pelephone Israel) and i'm downloading it, and its taking like forever to be completed ..
my question (which i couldn't find an answer to anywhere) whats the difference between flashing a rom via CMW and Odin ? can i just flash it from Odin instead of waiting another hour or 2 till the download is done and then flash it , reroot and flash recovery then flash custom rom ?
another question, when flashing a custom rom vua CWM , does it change the kernel ? (while Odin doesn't ?)
i'm a little confused here and i would appreciate any help (by the way the GS2 is my fiend's and its the first time i try flashing one)
Flashing via odin: You can only use tar files, and it boosts your custom binary count.
Flashing via CWM: It uses zip files, which is the most popular format for most roms. And it doesn't boot your custom binary counter. It's also harder to mess up flashing.
Pretty sure that's right. Just use CWM.
Edit: CWM only changes the kernel if the kernel is within the rom's zip.

thanks for the fast reply
do you confirm that flashing stock via Odin will solve my problem ? any worries of a brick there doing that?
what happens if i flash (via Odin) a firmware that uses a different kirnel from the 1 installed?
thanks again
as long as u're following the instructions right i'm sure you'll be fine..
if you are flashing via odin, PDA file is the ROM which usually includes a kernel.

the thing is that there are no instructions .. someone told the OP to flash original firmware via Odin and thats all .. i couldn't find any information anywhere thats why i got confused and i'm asking here ..
what i'm downloading is the exact original firmware i had before .. i have CWM installed but apparently its useless in my case , and i can enter download mode ..
what i'm planning to do is flash the firmware i'm downloading via Odin (its either 1 PDA file or 3 different files , thats not the case here ..) , and all i need is a confirmation that i'm safe ..
thanks

You can safely update the official firmware using odin and you won't bork anything by that method. I hope you have enabled the USB debugging mode in your mobile or else odin might not recognize the phone.

[Q] Galaxy Gio Stuck on Boot Screen? Bricked

My Galaxy gio is rooted and is with a clockworkmod recovery. Yesterday, I tried to flash a custom kernel. After flashing successfully (through cwm recovery), i reboot my phone and then it stuck at boot screen.
I did many searches but cannot understand any.
I can go into recovery and download mode which is i think so required by odin.
I wonder if I can flash any stock rom again easily. Can anyone provide me with a zip file with which i can put in sd card and install zip through cwm recovery by which i can unbrick my phone. I tried wipe data and factory reset but nothing worked. Plz help:crying:

your best chance would be ODIN
but you can download any other rom from gio forum and flash it i think it should work properly

You can better go to the Gio Q&A/General section
And ask again.
There are more experienced people over there.

thanks bro...for your quick reply sorry i used the spelling in short form i'm sorry for that. ya myself search lot of pages about fixing of soft bricked !!all i found is USB JIG is the only solution. do you know any other way to unbrick it ??
thanks again
I have done this, so this is what i'll say.
You can go into download mode, good.
First, get Odin for your computer.. version doesn't matter but take new one.
Find your stock firmware here (Odin is included when download this)
download.
Now go into download mode in your phone and connect a USB cable to computer.
Open Odin.
If you can see a yellow (or blue depending on which version) light, with "COM:" something written on it, then you're good to go.
Now this stock firmware you have, it will probably be a .tar or .tar.md5 (dont rememeber), put this in PDA. Make sure re-partition is UN-CHECKED
So now if the only thing that is checked is PDA and Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time then you can press "Start".
Now you can flash any custom ROMs. But always make a backup before! ----> And also backup your /efs folder after flashing custom anything!!!!!!!! <---- IMPORTANT
Reply if any problems

there is nothing wrong in posting threads but it is wrong to hav 100 threads with same topic, anyway back to your question.....
you dont hav a missing firmware, instead you just messed up with cwm.... always remember never select reboot recovery from cwm or any other app coz it will surely get you recovery loop as our cwm has a bug... so always manualy enter cwm, so the solution is flash stock recovery den let your device boot succesfully then again get into download mode and flash cwm recovery. and if even this doesnt help you den flash stock rom, but just doing a factory reset wont make you loose your firmware
