Samsung Galaxy A8 to receive Marshmallow 6.0 soon.. - Galaxy A3, A5, A7, A8, A9 General

JOSH L. / 3 DAYS AGO
Samsung has been, slowly but surely, dishing out the long-awaited Marshmallow update to all eligible smartphones in its 2015/2016 lineup, and it now looks like the Galaxy A8 will be the next major handset to receive the firmware as the device has just been granted Wi-Fi Certification running the latest build of Android 6.0.1.
Typically, once a device passes through the Wi-Fi Certification facility and receives approval for an upgrade, manufacturers start pushing out an OTA within just one-to-two weeks — so if you own a Galaxy A8, you shouldn’t have too much longer to wait until you can start playing around with all the new functionality Marshmallow has to offer.

A9000 got today, firmware can be downloaded from sammobile!

Nice.I wait For it.

Hope to see the marshmallow to A3 phones as well!

Any news about MM for A8 ?

samsung is as usual slow in updating its mobiles.. they r always concerned with the flagship handsets update and delay the other important ones. we should be more thankful to the devs here who really strive hard day and night to give us the best software and support.
NO UPDATE AFTER WIFI CERTIFICATION FROM SAMSUNG FOR 6.0.1 UPDATE TO A8.

Lollipop for Grand 2

Samsung has done an excellent job delivering the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to the Galaxy S5, turning a new page in the book of Software Updates. We already know that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update will be provided to all the galaxy flagship devices including the Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4, but it seems that Samsung might be planning to show a little love to its mid range galaxy owners also. In a new report from our sources at Samsung, it has been indicated that Five Mid Range devices are also being considered for the Lollipop 5.0 update. The devices that were lucky enough to make it are – Galaxy Grand 2, Galaxy Note 3 Neo, Galaxy S5 Mini, Galaxy Mega 2 and Galaxy Grand Prime.

If Samsung releases Android 5.0, then I might be the king of the UK as well.
No, Sammy won't.
Dismiss the rumors. Does anybody remember the rumored Sammy Poland list showing the Grand 1 as a candidate for a 4.4.x update?
Forget it.
We needed it

nice our prime will get lollipop
My sm-g7105 hasn't received the 4.4 update yet.
Do you think the touchwiz nature ux 2.5 would be upgraded to 3.0?
So guys, now there shouldn't be any hopes left of getting an official lollipop update.

great ... lollipop is an excellent version of Android ... we hope you will reaffirm this here ....
24.80 mb update fixed the bugs but no lollipop for grand 2
Guys 24.80 mb update was a clever update by samsung as they were planning for big os upgrade for this device but due to huge number of devices releasing every year, hence they were unable to provide the upgrade and just sorted the bugs with this minor update. You may say its the last grand 2 update. Here is the source website:https://www.justaboutphones.com/sams...ate-cancelled/

Huawei's performance on the security updates?

Honor 5x is reaching its two year mark, I was curious to know what people thought of the Huawei's performance in regards to updates? In a blog post on the Huawei site, Huawei promises to provide feature update for 2 years from release and then provide security update for a unspecified amount of time.
For their feature upgrades, it appears that they upgrade to Mashmallow, but then failed to update to Nougat because Google failed to support their device's upgrade to Nougat (!?).
So how well have Huawei performed compare to their competitors? Based on info on the T-mobile website, it would appear that most phone get quarterly updates for roughly 3 years.

Some variants had no updates for more than 6 months. If I'm not wrong, some even haven't received Marshmallow yet. My L21 (EU) received september patch in november, and here, now it's march of 2017, nothing. One not-working january update (OTA not available, firmware downloaded via FF can't be installed - fails at random percentage, and it's not available as full image) and that's it.
Still, that's much better than my previous experience with LG (phone came with 4.1.2, got only one, buggy update - 4.4.2 a year later, and that was the end of the line, Lollipop came only for Korean variant; bootloader not unlockable, device basically running on hacks (sooo many unnecessary source changes by LG... and device was nearly 3x more the price I paid for L21).
Nougat update wasn't provided because they pushed out Honor 6X on their home-brewed chipset, so I guess 5X is a collateral damage with it's snapdragon requiring Huawei to obtain newer blobs. I guess that's how stuff work.
Luckily, we have good community

[UPDATE] Marshmallow for J3 2016 J320F !!!

I started a live chat session with samsung for asking them about update for the j320f to marshmallow! Look on the picture to see their response. Maybe the update will come soon!
Galaxy j320f update sir...
I think that samsung answer is an standard answer (text copy& past) which means they work on it (sure) ... BUT that doesnt mean also they work on it for 320F device.
I dont think they will support newer Android that sold for our J3 320F/FN.. They have toooo much low budget phone versions to handle - priority always phones mid priced + high end. And even they have to wait some time

Future Android support - can it get Android 15?

In theory, this phone should get three major upgrades - that means, as it was released with Android 11, A14 would be the last it receives.
However, S21 FE that has the same SoC should be getting A15.
Do you think Samsung will stop on Android 14 for S21 and Android 15 on S21 FE?

Anyone know if the Tab S6 is getting Android 13?

Tab S6 Lite is on the list.. though haven't seen our beloved unit announced.
Anyone know anything?
Usually i am not that fussed as there is always Custom ROMs available to keep it up to date.. Though custom ROMS don't seem very common for this device!
Android Authority says yes!
Here's every Samsung device eligible for four major Android updates
Samsung has listed all the Galaxy devices eligible for four years of Android OS updates, including flagships, tablets, foldables, and more.
