having battery problems after upgrading to marshmellow... - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been having battery life problems after upgradig my z2(d6503) .....any solutions? Please help
I am using mrsl v6 rom now....what is this 'Miscellaneous'....i would like to know what is causing that
Thanks

upgrade by "downgrading" to lollipop

It might be wise to state what your problem is instead of random screenshots. You havnt said what's eating your battery, how long it's been off change, status of states sleep/awake, status of reception or WiFi. How long you have been using MM.
2.5 hours screen on time would be awesome if your phone has been off charge for a month.
Everything is better on MM from my point of view. Even battery without stamina.

I bought my Z2 in december 2015.
Latest MM. 570 working perfectly with battery.

I got 6hours SOT, 570 ultrasilm rom

Which rom are you using?

I´m on existenz MM 6.0.1 and I use 50% from I wake up till i sleep.
Lithium batteries don´t like to be deep cycled, so the less you use them, the better. I always try not to use more than 50% without charging.

No it isn´t.
Lithium batteries (as most chemicals) wear with use, so the less you use them, the more they last.
You can make your battery last 3 times longer by not using it past 50% on a frequent basis.
"Table 2: Cycle life as a function of depth of discharge.
A partial discharge reduces stress and prolongs battery life. Elevated temperature and high currents also affect cycle life."
DoD = Depth of Discharge
100% DoD: 300 – 500 cycles
50% DoD: 1,200 – 1,500 cycles
25% DoD: 2,000 – 2,500 cycles
10% DoD: 3,750 – 4,700

That's an excellent discovery, my friend. What you can also do, is leave your phone where you bought it and not using it at all. Therefore, the battery will never be used.
What kind of reasoning is that? It's like having a Ferrari and not using it because you don't want the oil to be consumed.

Sure. Have you thought about protecting your phone, in case you power it on by mistake? Maybe it will lose 0.000000000001% of its capacity and you'll have to buy a new one...

[GUIDE] FIX your phone's POOR BATTERY after flashing a new ROM

FOR THOSE WITH BATTERY PROBLEMS:
1. After flashing your phone with a new ROM, install this software:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ibration&hl=en
BATTERY CALIBRATOR - 47 KB size
2. Then, charge your phone to 100%.
3. IMPORTANT. Remove CHARGER first.
3. IMMEDIATELY hit "Battery Calibration" (1 or 2 seconds delay is fine, wait for BATTERY voltage to drop and be stable)
4. Use your phone normally (don't charge in between) till it hits 1%.
5. Then charge your phone UNINTERRUPTED (leave it for charging all night) till 100%.
6. Unplug and start using. You should be having as little as 2-3% battery drain for 6-8 hours of IDLING now. That's the optimization of a calibrated battery.
ENJOY! Hope this helps!
Even Google confirmed that deleting that one file has nothing to do with battery drain, its just place where phone saves battery using from apps.

Surprisingly this issue continues to be resolved by simply following this easy trick. Worked for me, hence I shared it. Worked for good many other people. I don't see the explanation for that. As long as it fixes someone's headache, it's helpful.

me to surely it will shorten the life of the battery quicker than waiting for the battery to nearly flat i.e ~10% or less before you do recharge it

Letting Lithium Ion get to low charges then charging it will decrease battery life, you can leave them plugged in a charger and it will be fine, just like when you leave your laptop plugged in or leaving a UPS plugged in.

actually what battery calibration really do is it makes battery percentage display on status bar more "accurate".
when you flash a new rom, old battery data is not deleted so it will be inaccurate (ex: showing 52% on status bar when your battery is at 30%)
therefore, calibration doesn't improve battery life
Ive heard of it before. keeping your battery level between 60% and 80% help prolong your battery's lifespan.

It kinda does improve your battery life, because for instance your phone is reading 10% while the phone actually have 30% then the phone may shut down anytime because it think it has low power.

I bought a new note 4 a month ago
I needed to root it badly but I cant find any proper way, so I flashed a prerooted custom rom called nameless rom v7. It is perfect in performance yet my battery charges to a maximum 87% and when it reaches 13% my device powers off...I tried calibration and clearing dalvik and reflashing rom abd buying a new battery but none had solved my problem. Please help me. My email is (but dont publish it or abuse it) wwwwwwward8 at gmail . com (since website dont allow me to post an email full) seeking help from you. And thanks in advance. And by the way I ama game hacker so if u help me get this solved I will let u chose any game 4 me 2 hack and get it as a reward

Battery drainage and Phone Overheating

Hi there,
I've been having a problem for some time now with stock S3 ROM (4.1.2), and now that I've rooted my phone, I noticed it consists with both CM11 and Revolutionary S5. So it's probably the hardware, but if anyone could give me any kind of assistance or direction, I would be grateful.
Here is a recent shot of my battery life: http://imagebin.org/309592
As you can see, I nearly ran out of battery in 2 intervals of charge lasting about 4-5 hours.
If I use my phone moderately, only using like a few apps for 2 hours, it wouldn't last more than 5-6 hours.
If I only use it to respond to texts and get through the day, it lasts for 8-9 hours.
I've tried disabling all of the extra components for as long as I could, use power saving mode on the stock/Revolutionary S5 ROMs, Greenify etc.
Another problem I have is that the bottom part below the battery gets freakishly hot by just using a single app for 15 minutes or so. It's getting to the point where I'm uncomfortable holding it.
Is there any solution to my problems? Should I get a new battery? Or something else?
Get a new battery.

Thanks for your answer! But here's what I'm worried about, the battery doesn't really get hot (unless I'm misunderstanding something), but rather the part below it (I assume it's the SoC). So will that really fix my problems or is it some chip at fault here rather than the battery?
Also, would you recommend going with a Samsung official battery or an alternative?
Battery is the cheapest thing to try, get an official one.

What applications are using your battery the most?
Have you tried to flash a light ROM? (Bloatware Free)
Try to UC and UV the device and see if it keeps having the overheat problems.

Hi Saad_, here's my current battery status:
http://imagebin.org/309724

In the process of taking these screenshots and uploading them, my battery widget showed that my battery's temp went up to about 95-97F. Browsing the gallery and looking at some site on Firefox brings it up to over 100-105F.

The battery use is normal. As suggested above I recommend you to try it out with another battery since you said your battery's temp is reaching high limits. Try a new battery and check if the problem still exists.

What's a normal temp range for a battery? For reference.
Surprisingly enough, it feels cold/normal, the part below it is what's getting real hot.

I don't EXACTLY know what is a normal temperature on an S3 but my phone's battery is usually at 33 C (92 F) after web browsing and using Viber / Facebook. You need to try another battery in your phone to find out if the problem is with it or not.

Standby drain

When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the honor 5X's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Gives me 2 days
I figure this will shake some things up. The attached screenshot speaks for itself, 100% legitimate. The SOT on this one wasn't much, it was 3 hours I believe, but I could be wrong. I'm an abnormal user, I turn my wifi/cell/gps off when not in use. I generally don't use my cell phone a whole lot.
There was one time were the phone had been on for two days and the SOT was 9 hours I believe. But again I could be slightly wrong, it was awhile ago.
Seems like a good battery life

With the use of Amplify, I get 0% drain overnight.
even with stock, i can have drain of only a few digits.. max of 3 to 4
Near zero standby drain at night
Last night I got 0 drain overnight.
Since all my reviews are based on experience from EMUI, I noticed about 4-6% battery drain over night even when using Greenify to disable to most 3rd party apps. I don't know if I should complain about it because that phone is using dual SIMs. Rating for it is 6/10.

Almost the same story here. I had to use my phone with so much precaution so that battery doesn't drains quickly. I hated every bit of EMUI.
TBH, I am not a 'fan' of every phone company. For that reason, I may open mine in about 6-7 years with my friends. They always add one thing and exclude 2 things from the phone.

Incipio offGRID NO wireless charging?

Dear all,
I am looking to buy the moto z. But I am mostly interested in the official 'battery mod' from Incipio offGRID.
The manufacturer promises 'wireless charging' ability.
To my suprise there aren't many reviews of it and on amazon.com the reviewers say, this mod do NOT support qi (wireless charging).
What's true?
There is not an wireless charging.

You probably got the wrong one. I picked mine up from best buy (of course the online listing contradicts the actual item). http://www.bestbuy.com/site/incipio...ortable-charger-black/5437804.p?skuId=5437804
Edit: Forgot to add it has wireless charging on the box.
Edit 2: can confirm it works with wireless charging.

I have model MT-382-BLK. Picked it up at Bestbuy. It DOES have wireless charging.
If I'm not mistaken there is a MT-381-BLK that does NOT have wireless charging in it.
EDIT to add... it works very well too. When put on a charger you get a quick display showing the battery levels of both the phone and back in separate circles. When charging the phone is charged first, then the battery pack.
You can also charge the battery pack separately from the phone.

Yes. From Friday 6am to Saturday midnight with 18% battery left on my phone, for me me pretty good battery life considering all the things I use. Remember to set your mod on "efficiency mode" that way is better than "keep fully charged". Because once I use it as a normal external battery to charge my phone when it was 15℅ and "only" charged to 61% and the phone battery was extremely hot. Regards!

Man i really wanted that cookie. But in all seriousness I use my phone casually every now and then. I really dont care about managing it because its supposed to be used as a smartphone and thats why it only lasts a day. I use gps high brightness everything you name it. So i guess its worth it at the end of the day to be able to use my phone the way its supposed to be used.

I prefer the Incipio to the Tumi. I have both but the texture and design of the Incipio are far superior IMO. I don't have the Mophie, but hear that it is noticeably thicker than the other three. The fourth being the Kate Spade that well, isn't for me.

Just found a deal of the century on a brand new Nexus 6p 64g!

So I was contacted by this awesome guy over on Android central asking me if I wanted to buy his pixel XL 128g for $300 dollars. Having owned the 6p before I told him that I would pass even though that was a killer deal. He then told me he had three Nexus 6ps one being brand new in box with the plastic still on it never even turned on. He said I could have it for 150 dollars!! This was the 64g model in frost white. I immediately jumped on it. What are the chances that I'll have the battery issues I've been reading about since this one was new in box? I love the Nexus 6p and in fact it's the best stock Android device I've ever used to date. I was floored when he said he'd take only $150 for it. I've got a couple of Dbrand Red and blue skins on the way for it now. One should arrive tomorrow. Is there anything I can do to help make sure I won't develop any of these battery issues I've read about? I love the 5.7 inch screen size for media and movies. Being that I owned one about 10 months ago now, I'm now kind of worried about these battery issues so many have gotten. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
If you're nice to the battery it should hopefully last. I've had my 6P for almost a year with no noticable degradation of the battery. See my post in this thread with tips on how to preserve your battery:

So last night I went to bed with 79 percent battery left. When I woke this morning I had 1 percent left! I checked and it said YouTube used 77 percent of my battery overnight. Can you guys tell me what exactly happened to me on this? YouTube kept running in the background all night basically? How do I go about making sure it's not running? That scared me as I thought for a second that I had the terrible battery issues. Now I know it was YouTube but how did it keep on running even though I closed out the app? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm using the ad-free YouTube here from xda and I can control it in the YouTube settings. But there should be a notification for you that it's running in the background, where you can close it too.

Where would I find that at on the 6p? Loosing that much battery life overnight freaked me out and I thought my battery was bad.

I have my 6P for about 14 months now.
Accubattery say I have 95% battery health and so far I am lucky and my phone is awesome.
Hope you are lucky too

Me too! I absolutely love the 6p. It's my all time favorite Android device to date. Plus I'm a huge Huawei Honor fan and Huawei made the Nexus 6p. It's a win win for me with the 6p.

It's below any video you play. Just toggle it off.

Good deal. Thank you. I'll look for that. Plus I'm going to close out all my windows open for in my task menu.
