I have recently bought a new battery from amazon to replace my two year old battery which I was barely getting 2 hours of screen on time with, in general it was awful.
I would just like to gauge peoples opinions on whether they feel this battery is genuine or not or to see whether people have had any similar experiences with buying batteries on amazon. The amazon store seems to have a fairly good reputation. At first I thought it may have been an Akku Polarcell as it does say Akku on the battery packaging but I am skeptical.
I am currently testing it at the moment but it only seems to be slightly better than the original.
Further testing and research has bought me to install the following app. The app gives you the capacity of the battery on the main page - the battery appears to be 3000mah capacity which is the same as the oem battery.
Hi
As long as the battery is the original as the LG one. I had almost the same problem with my battery then bought the exact same battery and its been working fine so far.

Yes it appears that I am getting same battery life as the original battery, I can't seem to break 2.5 hours of screen on time and thats on a good day. Tried all sorts, think it might be time to jump ships and get a new phone.
Are you running on Android M or still on Lollipop and in that screen-on time what do you usually do, chats, videos, or games?
I bought a new battery too orginal. There is not different between thr ols battery. Why??

Latest Fulmics 5.2 with Xceed kenrel.
Literally limited to whatsapp and browsing internet, nothing to strenuous. Have a tasker profile running to turn off my phone cell when connecting to works wifi, as I get no signal. Have limited the worst of the wakelocks and alarms with Amplify and battery is a bit better but not in the realms of 3.5+ hours yet.

Maybe try to check under battery usage what's draining your battery. I got mine a week ago from one of these local shops, the exact same one as the original G3 and I get at least 8+ hours on a full charge for what you said you do. I suppose Amazone batteries aren't that reputable after all.

Hi,
What is the battery life we may expect from a Galaxy S2 ? Mine (from fully charged) lasted only 3-4 hours surfing the web using 3G, maybe including some wifi usage, however screen was dimmed down. Isn't the battery supposed to last a little longer ? The phone is new and I am on the third day now. Is there anything wrong with my device or will battery performance improve after some battery cycles ?

You can expect for more battery but you wont get until some optimization from google and samsung...

Mate 3g browsing on the sgs2 does kill that battery in 3-4 hours max.. that is actually the time scale most reviews give.. i know its a pain i hate it myself, but ull find generally using the phone ie camera, music etc gives you a longer battery. The browser rocks! but its a serious power drinker, i did discover that some sites are saying that using a 3rd party browser helps things abit e.g dolphin or opera. It has something to do wiv the gpu accelaration which enables u to do things like play 1080p videos in the stock browser and the constant smooth perfomance
oh and i found the battery does improve after a few cycles, but i think thats mainly due to the fact u tend to not be constantly playing with the phone al the time
Yep, 4 hours tops for me screen on usage.
Using Juice Defender which helps a bit..
Abouth the battery...
Earlier this evening my phone was at 28%, when i picked it back up an hour later it was 31%????
I watched the battery graph and it showed a Yellow line going upwarts slitghtly., is that strange??
Afterwards i saw green going down and than up again. I will post a pic of it.
Seriously, there are 5+ battery threads already, what is so specific about your case you felt the need to start a completely new discussion on it????
Fully charged this morning, moderate use throughout the day, on 52% now after 16 hours. I'm happy with that.

Im currently on 68% battery after 15h47m off charge. Wifi on all day. Moderate use. Photos and videos taken. A few benchmarks.
Battery now at 66%, after 20 hours and 6 minutes. Android OS running at 32% and it my largest process.
2% drop in battery over 4 hours with Android OS running at 32%... android OS bug my arse...
I wonder what would happen if people actually used their phones for talking.
I pre ordered this and waiting shipment. I can compare with the atrix i had, that the battery life was not to shabby but it had a 1900mah battery.
You can't expect amazing battery life with this phone
4.3inch screen
AMOLED+
1.2ghz CPU.
if they made the phone a bit thicker a tiny bit they could of put a bigger battery in there but samsung wants to compete with apple on thinest phones.

well after the ke7 fw update my battery life seems to have improved
Doesn't sip too much when it's idle but mine tops out at 3.5h with screen on

Mine is run about 1,5-2 days, not so intensive usage.
I have been trying out various 4.4.x ROMs (CM, Resurrection Remix, SlimROM) and had varying levels of success but the one issue that I have had consistently with all of them on my SGS2 is battery. 4.4.x seems to devour my battery no matter which ROM I am using (and the different ROMS are using different kernels usual). CM11 has far and away been the most stable so I have stayed with that but it too as failed to resolve my battery issue. I have never had much luck with battery life before but half a day is ridiculous. I thought about trying a different kernel but not sure that would help as #1 I would think the CM team would know better than I what would be the optimal kernel and #2 I have been trying different kernels anyway when I have been trying different ROMS as I believe the different ROMS have all had different kernels. Has anyone else had this issue? More importantly has anyone had any luck resolving this?
I suggest you to replace your battery. Beaware from cheap ones!!! I have I9100 too, i also try many methods to increase my battery life but i reach maximum 10 hours. Then i buy new batteries. It is not original galaxy s2 batteries but i think better than the original one.(1800mAh buy from ebay) Now i use RR kit kat rom with stock kernel my mobile data is always on and I go to bed at %35 percent of batteries.
1. If your battery is quite old, replace it.
2. Check whether you are having any wakelocks. Does it go to deep sleep?
3. When you say battery life as half a day, what is your actual usage? Screen on time, Wi-Fi, 3g, calls etc?
4. Betterbatterystats and greenify are your friends.

Thanks. My battery is about 2.5 years old, its an Anker battery, 1900mAh that I bought on amazon (I honestly don't know what constitutes "old" for batteries, is 2 1/2 years old?). As for ROMS I was actually running an older version of RR but had serious stability issues (related to sdcard, never was able to resolve it) and battery wasn't great (better than now though) when I upgraded to the newest RR I had some lingering stability issues and battery issues too so just settled on CM11 this time.

I am not totally clear on wakelocks and deep sleep, I have "Battery Stats" installed (guess its not the same as the betterbatteryapp but seems to give some similar info) but its not clear to me how to read it all. In this case it sayd the stat period is 3 hours 8 minutes and out of that it has been in deep sleep 1h 51m and running time 1h 17m and wifi time 1h 25m and my batter is down to 74%, I am assuming that is not normal? In terms of applications the hogs are defintely the two audio apps poweramp and dogcatcher (they are just at the top of the list, the numbers it gives don't really make sense to me)

Well I have a 3 hour idea of my usage above, I don't use 3 g, I have wifi on about a third of the day perhaps, and actualy screen time probably just an hour or two, I do use it quite a bit for podcasts and music though. But I had tried it with my audio apps uninstalled for a few days and it still drained fairly quickly.

If your battery is 2.5 yrs old, that's almost certainly the cause of your issues. Good advice to stick to original Samsung batteries; though there's nothing wrong with the 2000mAh genuine Samsung battery Vs the 1650mAh one - I used one of these for almost two years.

Doh, was hoping I wouldn't have to replace the battery. Actually... that said. Should a 2.5 year old mostly unused 1650mah samsung battery still be good? I think I still have the factory battery around somewhere now that I think about it. When I purchased the Anker battery I seemed to remember it was mainly for price and reputation reasons, not that the Samsung battery had such a bad reputation but the Anker had such a good reputation and a pretty good price.
I will give another battery a try if you say 2.5 years is old, but I do have to admit that the battery drain was not nearly as much of an issue with the older ROM I was using (RR 4.2.x) before, it wasn't stellar but not like this so it seems to me its more than just the batter thats giving me problems here.
Anyway, my phone is still golden other than the battery issues so if i can squeeze another year and a half out of it I'd be a happy camper. Any other thoughts would be welcome (and appreciated!)
Batteries discharge over time if they're stored/not used, ideally you should charge it up to/keep it at around 60-65% every few mths if you're going to store it for that long. If you've not touched it at all in that time, it might not be able to take/hold a charge anymore because that wasn't done.
Only way you're going to find out is if you charge it & use it.
Yeah, if you ended up getting 4 yrs out of a smartphone you'd be rather happy indeed.
If you really want to satisfy yourself as to whether it is indeed the age of the battery you're currently using causing your problems, do a clean install of stock & test that for a week. If it does the same thing with stock, you'll know for definite it is the battery. I'd be very surprised if it isn't though; they're not designed to last much longer than what you've had yours if you're charging/discharging constantly.

Thats a good idea, given what you've said i don't doubt that a large part of my problem is the battery (like I said before, with the older rom it was better but not stellar) do you know where I can find a stock rom nowadays? (sorry on the ROMS page they all seem to be custom roms, or perhaps i missed something?)
Thanks!
Stock roms @ Samfirmware, get one for your carrier/country (not 4.0.4 though, anything else is fine), if there's only 4.0.4 for your carrier/country, any other stock rom will do really -I just tell people to stick to carrier/country in the first instance as these have modems bundled with them that should have been tested by the carrier to give most people on their network good connectivity most of the time.
Or, Wanam has a thread in one of the development sections (I forget which; do a search or have a rummage around) that has CWM flashable stock roms if you'd prefer to do it that way; haven't had a look at the thread for a while so not sure if links are still live, but Wanam is a very active dev & I'd be surprised if he doesn't still have them hosted somewhere.
Does it drain more at a locationw where you use a certain Wifi?
I'm asking cause wlan-rx drains are know Android phones in big open Wifis as the phones get bombarded with signals from other computers/phones and are not filtered and keeps the phone awake.
Easiest way to find out is using Betterbatterystats.
Hi everyone, I will be assembling a battery discharger/capacity tester to give definitive results on which batteries have greater capacities. I just have one heavily used original Samsung battery and a cheap generic replacement battery that was used for about 20 cycles that I can test. If anyone is interested in sending batteries they want tested for actual mAh I would be more than glad to do so.
Anker 3200mAh replacement battery
I'd recommend reviewing the Anker 3200mAh note 3 battery. I decided to get a replacement for my 1.5+ year old stock battery and this was the one that was getting the best ratings for the least money. At first I was disappointed, as it didn't seem like there was much if any improvement over the old stock battery. However, after a few weeks I was noticing significant improvement. I decided to try consciously squeeze the longest life I could out of it during my 24 hour shift. I was shocked with the results.

I'm running 4.4.2, rooted, with various battery saving modules in xposed including greenify, wakelock terminator and some features in wanam. I haven't really done much else. I leave 4G, wifi, gps and bluetooth on all the time because I'm too lazy to switch them on/off, brightness is on auto, but I also have screen filter for night time. I have multiple adblockers in place, dunno if that has any effect. I changed most options to display black background if possible. I feel like I use my device fairly heavily. Tethered for a few hours, watched several hours of HD video, torrented a large file from a friend, dozens of texts, a terrible 20 minute phone call, my screen timeout is set at 5 minutes... so yeah. I'm quite impressed with this battery, would recommend to anyone looking to replace their old battery. It's not quite as good as the battery life when I first bought it but it was a virgin device back then with a whole lot less going on and I have a feeling it would stack up well with the official sammy battery.

Any other suggestions for alternative batteries? I'm waiting for my used N9005 to be delivered and I'm looking for a couple of spare batteries and a charger. In the past I used Anker's S3 replacements but had 3 of them die on me in the space of a couple of months traveling around India so I was interested to see if you guys had heard of any alternatives?

I did it with towel root, but had some problems with a superuser app, I eventually got supersu to work but I don't remember exactly how, sorry. I'm on vvrucnc4.
I've had my G5 (RS988) for 3 days and my biggest issue thus far has been battery life. I looked at which processes are draining the battery, and to my surprise "Phone Idle" is the #1 offender, consuming over 20% of the battery.
Besides calls/texts, I mainly listen to music (media player, not streaming) on my commute to and from work, as well as browse the internet.
I fell asleep with my battery at 50% and woke up to it at 25%.
I'm running OS 7.0 and Software Version 21c.
I was checking out aftermarket batteries last night and there are several choices. Most of then are rated much higher than the stock battery. Has anyone tried any of these with positive results?

There are many things that can affect battery life wifi, data, aod even bad signal which is my issue I live in a low sig area I suggest a full charge and then after a full battery's usage post a couple screen shots of bat stats then with screen on time listed also

There are no batteries with greater capacity than LG's original one. These are cheaters claiming 4300mAh etc!
Original battery is 2800mAh, that is all that can fit in that physical size, that is the energy density that's possible right now. LG would have loved to put a higher capacity battery if it was possible.
Most possibly you will get much less than 2800mAh from those who claim the ridiculous high capacity than those who sell batteries as 2800mAh (even these are probably less than stated).

What's aod?
I was able to cut the phone idle battery usage by like 60%+ thanks to someone on Reddit. They recommended resetting the permissions on all the apps. The reason being that all the permissions got grandfathered in on the OS 7.0 update and it was somehow causing insane battery consumption. Hopefully I'm explaining that correctly. If you haven't heard of this fix and want me to find the link, let me know.

hey there...hows the battery holding up?
My current batt which i changed at an official motorola centre a year ago is dying at 20% sometimes and sometimes goes all the way to 2%
how good is this battery you mentioned? how many hours SoT and on what rom?
thanks for the info.
Hey!
I am back with a fresh update on the statistics!
It's been almost half a month since i got the new battery and here's vmy review for the same:
The Battery i got legit looked like an original one when i got it and I gotta say, it is! It lasts pretty good with about 4-5hrs of SoT on a mixed use pattern (whatsapp, YouTube, offline movie playback, long camera sessions! And wifi at times with a network on standby)
The main aim of buying a new battery was to get the itchy problem of below 40% camera capture shut down fix, which was fixed by this battery. I can now click photos at below 40 without having to worry if my phone would shut down!?
An in-depth research helped me to find out that earlier batch of nexus 6 batteries were plagued by that issue and was later fixed in the new batches produced by lg chemicals.
I am also attaching some accubattery stats to assist you with! Nerdy signs follow!:highfive:
Hope this helped!
