Somebody Save our Edge - Sprint Note Edge Android Development

Unless all the DEVS took off? I dont know about you but I cant put out $700 everytime a new phone comes out!
Either way, who's Rom'ming in here
Who has Kernel knowledge in here?
Hint hint Our phones can use Note4 Gear! Somethings, not all No Kernel Ive flash'd from that Zone will not work,
Breathe our Phones alive again!!
Plz,
Also Thank You for what you do!

I'll build a ROM and kernel for you guys.

That would be greatly appreciated, Freeza.

I would go for that as well. I tried my hardest to design a great app for our Note Edge's called "EdgeAlert", but Samsung's API would not allow my developers to make my features work. I even got in touch with the head guy who runs the edge API at samsung, and they still haven't updated their API to allow all my features. Very frustrating for such an awesome piece of hardware!

Hi Freeza:
Any luck on a Note Edge ROM for Sprint yet? (I dont use Sprint. Just testing TMobile SIMs)
Or do you know of any alternatives?
Hell, I cant even find CM13...Lol
Thank you for any input!
PS: I grew up in Pasadena

Yeah bro there's a ROM up...

And its an awesome ROM too. Freeza, is there anyway your ROM may have messed with the EFS partition?

I need "TESTER'S" {Closed}

Hey Guys,
I am going to get start on making a Rom for this thing and just would like to know if any could help with test of the rom or Kernel development. But mainly Testing.
You must have a good understanding on flashing and use of the device..
Please no "NOOBs" no offense but at this staging i'm not look to tell someone every single thing to do but I dont mind helping you understand what you don't know.
If you would like to help me get this out to everyone send me an email at [email protected] or pm me.
Thanks for every that responded to my request.. I Have some testers now and well have something out soon hopefully if all goes well..

Thanks man just waiting on the official build of ICS to update that leak is horrible I barely get 5 hours out of my battery
and send an email because ill forget to check here
I still use SyndicateRom Frozen on my Epic 4G. Best ROM I've ever used, can't wait to see what you guys come up with for the Prime!
I would test depending on what exactly the rom is gonna be. If it is just themed/tweaked a bit i'll have to pass. If it is actual development i would JUMP at the chance to help you out! I have owned over 20 android devices so experience is not a problem.
Im in I have beta tested on the original Transformer and several other android phones, would love to help as I dont know how to program and would like to give back to the community!!!!!
I'm in for testing, I have a flashing addiction, and am always looking for the latest and greatest.

[Q] Vanilla Jelly Bean

Has anyone tried porting the stock, rooted, or otherwise Rom from the Nexus 4?
If no one has I will give it a shot. The two phones aren't all that different ours has the LTE on the chip set activated but I believe they have basically the same Qualcomm chip set.
Also if anyone knows more about it than I do feel free to inform me. I'm always up for a hacking adventure but I don't want to start something I'll never be able to finish.

I should figured AT&T would screw us like that. Man this is gonna take some work, but I certainly will give it a shot. This won't be my first port of a Rom but it'll be my first one where I've had to work on a Kernel. Wish me luck guys.

Head over to the IRC channel, #lg-optimus-g, most of the current developers are always on there and they will be more than willing to have someone new that has some experience and willingness to help!

I believe I've found a sort of attempt at what I'm looking to do.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2099784
This essentially turns the phone into a Nexus 4 so that essentially the firmware is tricked into thinking that our phone is the Nexus 4. It appears as if in order to put vanilla android on here I'll need to take pieces of this hack, and sort of finish it. Like getting the Capacitive buttons working, which will require a bit of kernel hacking. It appears as if reflashing the modem, which I think after I take apart the original firmware I can sort of shove in there, will fix the LTE, so says the post, and the issue of the SD card. This method may be more intensive than is necessary. However it's looking like this is all I've got to work with as of right now.
I'm going to try and make a Rom that's still ICS and as close to Vanilla as is possible, then I'll give moving it up to Jelly Bean a shot. Also this may take a while as I am in college, and I've only got a small amount of experience so this will sort of be a learning experience for me.
Also I'm not too familiar with using IRC. I'm used to doing stuff on my own. For my original Android phone, the HTC Inspire. The dev community over there was awesome, they're probably still going, but I'm more used to taking a base like CM 9 or CM 10 nightlies and making them my own for my phone. So this will be a hacking adventure. A hackventure if you will.

Mega 6.3 Overclocking?

I just recently got my Mega and is by far my favorite phone ever. Any known way or Kernel to overclock the mega 6.3? This thing runs very cool and I'm sure the Snapdragon S4 can be easily pushed well past 2GHz.. I'd love to have it at speed. Any news on how to achieve that for this device yet?:cyclops:
Wait a bit. Its a new device. Am sure some of the guys from 6.3 are already working on it. Atleast we are from the 5.8 for the 5.8.

The sad reality is that there are WAY TOO MANY PHONES on the market and the Mega was not purchased by enough people to make it worthwhile for developers to invest their time in it. This device has no future in the long run.. I've given up my hopes for amazing custom ROMs or overclocking Kernels.. it ain't happening.. no one cares..

Me? I am extremely patient. I love my Mega, nothing about it bothers me, am perfectly happy running it without overclock and would trade it for nothing. And I'm always appreciative of all our developers and their hard work.
I love mi sgh-i527. I will wait and hope some one will work on this phone so we can have more features.... thank to all the developers that are working with us... we Apreciate all the time you have put in 7 o ur phones.
It's 2015 and I still can't find one. Ugh!
Ok.

CleanRom for KitKat Note 3

Please Scrosler, make us a version of the great CleanRom for KitKat on the VZW Note 3 . Your roms are truly the best.
Scott does not own an N3 any more, so the odds on that are low.

As a user of Scott's Clean rom 1.5-1.7(or was it 1.6) - yeah it was sad to see him go. I've been very happy with Baja's rom - looking forward to the new BeansBaja combined work.
He says he is happy in "HTC land". I have tried to create a ROM in the spirit of CleanROM but no one is interested in an MJE ROM now.

I wish he would make one more note3 build tho. The only reason i tried bajarom, was to get my chromecast allscreen mirroring to work. Couldnt get it to happen with 4.3. As soon as I figure out how to get it working on 4.3 I am going right back to his last CleanRom build. I dont really care for bajarom. It also doesnt get anywhere near the battery life I was getting with Scotts rom.
I wanted to cry when he posted that he was moving on from the note3 to the HTC. Maybe I should just get an HTC and join him in HTC land.
Thanks for your reply anyways.:good:
So would I but without a N3 in his possession it is unlikely. I have informed him about this thread.
Thanks Ronald, but like you said, without a Note3 it would be pretty difficult for him. Ive donated before to him, but not enough to buy him a Note3 tho...lol. Thanks for telling him anyways.

You are welcome. I believe he works on an HTC M8 now.
I also was extremely disapointed. I use his rom on my 10.1 note 2014 also.
Scott always has done quality work. I've used his roms all the way back to the HTC Mogul, too bad he doesn't have a Note 3.

[Q] Exynos 7420 development

Ive always been an HTC man and watched both live streams to decide my next phone. Im now pretty convinced its going to be the S6 Edge. The one thing thats worrying me is the development side of things with a Samsung own chip. Are they pretty good at supporting developers with documentation and such? I know when HTC went with the Tegra chip in the One X there were lots of problems with S-Off and that sort of thing. Is there likely to be any of that here or is it not a problem?
Exynos is closed source. They are not as open as say Qualcomm. Kernel is GPL so we will have custom stock kernel and ROMs. However... Cm12 and aosp is going to be hard AND buggy.
Custom stock ROM's are better than nothing, especially if you can get that bloatware out of the phone, even with a 128GB option (my GS6 Edge of choice) I still don't want all of the AT&T Bloatware and GB's of wasted space. Hiding is not enough for me.
are we gonna be able to achieve root?
it's all I'm interested in first phase, just want to remove some blootware from sammy, install a real UI and remove ads.
custom rom I can wait little more
Root will probably be the easiest.

The two biggest US Carriers always rain on our parade, sadly they offer the best coverage otherwise I would go with T-Mo just for the open nature of the devices.

You will most probably never see a AOSP based ROM for s6 I'm afraid. And if you do, it will be so bug infested that it will take months to make it a daily. Then there is the stability issue when hack building like that...
Just check the note 4 exynos page... One half functioning cm11 (kudos to the developer).
So yeah... Stock ROM, debloated with a custom kernel with kcal or something similar. I'm happy. Maybe even themed to aosp and 360dpi...
Dreams...
That sounds bad . It seems i have to think again then. Maybe if we get Samsung based Roms like echoerom i might be tempted

Root and Knox
Hey guys
One of my colleagues has a Galaxy Alpha and is kinda jealous of me being able to stream to AirPlay-devices etc because my phone is rooted. So I said that I'd help him obtain rood, but soon discovered that the Alpha is not possible to root without trashing Knox.
So... does anybody know if that will also be the case with The S6 Edge? I NEED that phone, but I also NEED root... and I'd like to keep knox...
Also, The GS2 had both overclocking and undervolting options available... do you gus reckon that that will be possible on the S6Edge ?
- Martin
If you NEED root, don't buy it until root is confirmed. No one knows at this point how hard/easy it will be, or how long it will take to achieve.
looks like Chainfire has it already;
at least he posted a link in the original dev forum.
