Have Bell Note - Will Provide Files

To all the people on this forum much smarter than me - I will give you as much support and information as I can in order to get a working root exploit on this badboy. As of now, zergrush and gingerbreak are aboard the SS Fail. I actually managed to snag the only Galaxy Note for Bell shipped to my city, but can't properly "move in" to the phone until we get root and thus I get Titanium up and running.
Say the word, and I'll provide whatever I can to the cause. It is the same model of phone that AT&T is getting.
**Edit: Would post this in the dev forum, but I've pretty much lurked XDA for years and never really got around to posting much...so I'm still not allowed.

Does the Bell Rom have working NFC? can this be ported over to the AT&T rom?
I can confirm NFC is operational in the Bell ROM that ships with the device. Funny thing is, nobody is advertising this phone has NFC up here.

Honestly, I'm not using the phone for anything right now. Till we get a working root, I can't move out from my XT860 (aka, Droid 3 GSM) because of a few apps I use day to day that require root.

So skyrocket root is not working here? I was one of the few that updated my skyrocket to 2.3.6 once the update came out. Then lost interest in rooting. I thought I saw where they can root 2.3.5 or 2.3.6 now?

Yeah this has been on pocketables over here and here also over at rootzwiki over here
Believe it or not, a large number of people used the site to either make ROMs or to restore their devices either prior to sending it back to HTC or because they had an issue with a custom ROM.
It sucks BUT it is what it is, HTC has lost a few dozen future customers and counting, over this (myself included)

I can't see them shutting down XDA. The worst they could do is have the forums and ROM's for their phones removed and that wouldn't be productive for them. But given their current modus operandi, who knows?

Sad News For the P769

So i decided to ask LG if we actually do have an unlocked BootLoader and if we did how were we supposed to unlock it and this is what they responded me with....
Dear Carlos,
Thank you for contacting LG Electronics.
Unfortunately in USA models boot loader cannot be unlocked as a carrier request. USA models, even though they look similar to the international modes, have carrier specifications on their software. Due to their request that’s why we are not able to unlock it.
Once again thank you for contacting LG. In case you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again either via email, or by calling our customer service division at your convenience. Have a wonderful day.

If you disable the lockscreen and use Widgetlocker.... along with Nova Launcher, it does give it a Nexus feel.

That's true, kuma.. Personally I read for a couple of weeks, over and over all that was needed and how to recover from mistakes.. It helped so much reading all the posts, what works, what doesn't. I'm very greatful to everyone that went before, and the crazy devs for pushing the envelope and figuring things out.
The current unlocking process may be complicated, but it works, if you take time to read(and read again).
Sent from my LG-P769 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I want to unlock SO BADLY but I get stuck after I flash, I don't know what to do ahaha xD
The current unlock method for TMO P769 is so convoluted and it seems rather risky... Risky and destructive enough, I will probably not bother. How likely do you think a decent/proper unlock method will be found before the end of the year? I really dislike the stock UI and limited theming options/etc, came from PACMan on my previous phone and this is rather disappointing for a phone with such solid hardware.
Its looking pretty unlikely and I think I might just sell this phone and go back to Samsung where they tell the carrier where to shove it when they ask for a locked bootloader. Shame on LG for complying with this... Sure, they aren't Apple or Samsung but I think they could have pulled it off. At the very least they could have snuck some hidden method like HTC with the wire trick for S-OFF into the US version.

whats the deal with vroot is it safe?

I've been thinking of using vroot and have read many have already used it with no problem but is it safe ? Is xda going to release this exploit safely without the possible backdoor to china?

Not sure. I believe some of the devs are trying to pick it apart and figure out what it is communicating. Some feel it is safe, others do not. I'm not sure what xda review process is for stuff like this, but they have some pretty talented folks on staff if they have banned the links I would trust their judgement for now until proven otherwise.

yea I have and some say its safe but other say its the devil but its confirmed working thats for sure. I want root but infecting my pc and phone to get it is hardly worth it. I figured it was fair question to ask to see what others thought outside the thread after all this is Q&A:laugh:
from what i have read, no one has found anything malicious or dangerous, just a lot of things that are suspect.
personally, i would just wait until the devs find another root method just to be sure. it isn't worth it imo...
Since vRoot is apparently used to root 3500 different devices (are there really that many?) I would assume that the IMEI is used to identify the device being rooted so rooting can be carried out properly. This is completely my guess since I don't know anything about any of it.
I just used it and rooted. It was a pain in the butt but successful. It's a very simple process also.

apparently it is some kind of beast. Knox has it locked down pretty tight from what I hear. like I said, my bulb doesn't shine that bright when it comes to a lot of this stuff. I just try to read and keep myself out of trouble here.
there have been a few guys trying to get a safetystrap thing going. they got it for the Note 3, thanks to a gentleman by the name of Hashcode. he has tried to get it going for the Mega. I am not sure whether he is still working on it or not, I know he had hit a big hurdle and took a break for a bit but it was on the agenda to give it another shot. that was maybe about a month ago or more.

I dont think there is a way to remove. I think the trick is to leave a small portion of existing OS, with the Knox, tricking it to thinking everything is in tact. Then there is a secondary OS, which we can then play with.
