Screen test - please try out - Elephone P9000 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I have recently asked something about a flickering, what I think I am able to reproduce. I'd like to ask you to try something out:
a) Please install the app "Full Screen Test" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=la.marsave.fullscreentest
b) Open the app and swipe from the white screen to the grey.
Do you have some sort of a flicker while you see the grey screen? It is easily visible for about 1-3 seconds.
Interestingly, this flicker appears only, when I switch from white to grey. There is no flicker when I come from black to grey.
Please disable the adaptive screen adjustments in Android settings.
Thanky you!

Dear jotei66,
your signature shows me, that you own a Nexus 7. Is this the first model from, I believe, 2012?
Here you can see the kind of flickering. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssARVzYJ3Oo&feature=youtu.be&t=50s This video shows the Nexus 7 flickering. It reminds of the problem I see on the Elephone P9000.

Hi there,
Sorry to hear your problem. If the image is fine when you transfer to the laptop then you have a faulty screen.
Resetting software won't make a difference, it's the way your screen is displaying the information that's the problem.
You have a row of damaged pixels I would say.
Does the 'line' stay in the same position when scrolling?

Hhhhmmm that's strange. It's definitely not a pixel problem but does seem to me that the display is getting confused. Does it only do this sort of thing in the browser? Is it only when there's writing on a white background? If it's only in the browser you could download a different browser and try that.... Might make a difference.
If it's still doing it I would take phone back for a replacement
I've heard of this happening on other S2's and its a screen defect you should go and get a replacement.
Yeah guys it happens not only in browsing but other times as well..do i need to replace the display or just an IC??

[Q] [Galaxy S III] How to fix a screen burn ?

Hey,
My bro just gave me an already used Samsung Galaxy S III, but I noticed that when displaying a white background app, or a white pic, I can see the ghost of the keyboard.
After some internet searches, I found that it's called a screen burn.
So, can I fix that problem ? .. if so, I'll be thankful if you show me how ..
Thanks !

You can't. you need to be a new screen.
You could display a completely white page over the whole phone for a while but I don't no how long for or if it would work.

Okey thanks ! ..
About the white page, I read that it could make things worst !
I think that I'll live with that, or sell it as it is and buy another phone, 'cause the screen will cost me a lot.

Night clock / screen burn-in / developer options

Hi
I have several questions :
1. I already experienced that the night clock doesn't appear instantly when you put the watch onto the charger. Sometimes it takes a time till it appears.
2. What about screen burn from the night clock? I read about it in the forum for the first gen moto 360. Is it still a issue with the 2nd Gen 360?
3. There are wear developer options in the developer options. And there is the option "burn-in protection" (I hope it's called that way in English, I've got it on German) but it won't activate even after reboot as it tells me to do.

I disable the night clock by turning on theater mode (double click the side button). But I do this because it seems to fix the heart rate monitor from tracking the apparent 100BPM of the charger lol.
I use the Slumber app that automatically turns the screen off as soon as you place the watch on the charger.
I don't think there will be any burn in issue, since Moto360v2 have LCD screen. Burn-in have place on OLED screens only (Huawei Watch for example) since they have organic diods which degrade over time. LCD don't have this issue at all because they have one backlit light for all pixels and 'rotating' pixels. With LCD screens nothing is affected by the picture on the screen (technically). With OLED screens each pixel emits light on its own, therefore degradation of pixels is dependant on the picture on the screen (whether this particular pixel emits the light most time or not) = burn in.
Therefore night mode on Moto360 can be used safely for as long as you wish.

Hola
I tried this slumber app but it did not turn my screen off during charging. Yes, I did launch the app from the watch and ensured that it was enabled.
Am I missing something?
Thanks.

The button to enable/disable Slumber wasn't very intuitive to me. I actually disabled it when I wanted to enable it, so you may have the same problem. Try toggling the setting the other way around.
also, incase anyone noticed, slumber only puts a black overlay on top of the clock. the screen is still lit up at night, but it's black. incredibly stupid on Motorola to not let us shut off the screen.

Yes there is a problem and a big one... my watch with less than 5 months old are all burned now

I put my watch in Theater mode (swipe down from the top, then swipe left) and the face stays off until I remove the watch from the charger and press the button to wake it.

Edge lighting not working when screen is off

Does any one have the same issue? I have set it to always be on but it only works when the screen is on. Please advise.
It was that way with the S8+ also. I thought it was supposed to work when the screen is off but I could never get it to work. Kind of a bummer since I think it would be a cool feature.

Super helpful as always. I thought maybe the always on display had to be on, but it doesn't seem to matter. The only way it works is with the screen on that I've found.
No problems with edge lighting here. Been working every time.

But it's not working if the screen is off or in standby that is what he says. I had a s8 and i never get it work
It didn't work for me on the s8 bjr MSG and WhatsApp are working fine now. Nothing else
I had mine working and it got turned off. It was only working with screen on. Went back into settings, and apparently the settings got reset to default when I switched samsung themes. Changing the settings back fixed my issue. I can confirm, that at least on mine, edge lighting does work with screen off.
Edit: Apparently it's no longer working again after just trying it.
you guys have to turn it on for all apps, normally it is on just for 3 of them
Same here.

Tried that too. Still doesn't work.
Maybe is not working when you are using one of the live infinity display themes...? Have you tried with normal backgrounds (and consequently with normal AOD - not live one).
Maybe is just working when the device is screen down?.
Just a thought.
I've had no issues with it working with the screen off. I have AOD on and the original theme still. I only have it set to come on when I get a text thru Textra app
It turns out you have to make sure that pop up notifications is on when the screen is off for all the apps you want the edge lighting to work.:fingers-crossed:
Yet another stupid software design from Samsung, all most of us want is that the edge lighting can replace the notification led, right? But no somehow they over complicate this ****.

It varies between apps. For whatsapp its in the more options menu->settings->notifications->pop up notification set it to either always show up or show up when screen off

But the annoying what's app box pops up too when you go look at your phone.
The one app that works when the screen is off is messages for me.

weird spot on my Xperia 1 screen

Hello everyone,
Today I was checking my phone and I noticed this big oval spot at the bottom left of the screen.. It only appeared in the morning, but I never seen it before! It's like it came all of a sudden! VERY STRANGE ON AN OLED SCREEN!
it's not visible at all on a pitch black background, but only on light colors like white, gray...etc check the attached photos below !
anyone have or had same issue on their Xperia 1? and if anyone knows what caused it to appear and if its gonna be permanent or if it will disappear by the time?
Please let me know in the comments!
thanks for your contribution and help!
Since you are using the gesture mode. I believe it's something with the sideswipe rather than screen/display problem.

yes, since i got the phone which is 1 year and 3 months I've been using gesture swipe option.. do you think it's a software rather than hardware?
Yes. I think it's software.
In my phone, I sometimes see that the clicked gesture keeps showing in the back button.
I have seen it many times.
I guess it's similar to what mine was in yours too.
.... and it exactly looks like you are going back from the app or menu.
Maybe you can try using the two-finger or 3 classic types to check.

do you still see your spot or it's completely disappeared as it never been there?
also, have you tried to factory reset your phone and see if it's software or hardware?
thanks for keeping up!
It's gone but appears sometimes.
Mine disappears by pressing the power button, or back key or recent apps.
