Just found an MTCB launcher (in one of @booroondook's posts on 4pda) that allows you to move and remove the MTC widgets, giving way more flexibility than the KLD, KGL and standard (JY and all the others apart from Roadmaster) launchers. Pics below. (The language changes to whatever language your unit is set to, so it wont be in Russian as it is in the pics, once its installed).

I nearly opened a thread on this!!!! Thanks as wanted to replace the JY launcher on my Witson with KLD! Would installing the below using your instructions work?

I have removed the 5.1.1 yellow cardroid logo and added the grey one of 4.4.4
In addition i have tweaked transition and animation times for a faster experience.

Wow, never got around to doing that, in fact was looking into setting everything up so I can sign apks just the other day, thanks !!
I ve got an RK3188/PX3 and RK3368/PX5 MTCD versions that need doing, too.
I also wanted to try and make the widget show station names, get rid of the Russian text in the menus which still shows even when set to English and make the icons in apps larger (6 per page). Maybe if I did some of this you could sign it for me ?
I wanted to change the russian language too, but i could not figure oit out how to. I mean, i have seen some of the text, and could change it manually. I guess it is gonna be the right thing to do.
Regarding the widget, i cannot see it. Do you have it?
I did not have to sign it. To do little changes you have enough with apkeditor. You can even do it from the headunit

Strange regarding the language, youre not English - does Russian persist in other languages ? (I ve not tried looking).
No, I dont have the widget, I didnt think it was a separate apk, I ve googled how to extract a widget many times in the past but not found out how to, so I ve always assumed the code was naked into the launcher.
I ve attached the MTCD RK3188/PX3version.
And MTCD RK3368PX5 version.
I ll have to check out apkeditor.

I know, I do not understand Russian. The way I see it is that the original dev was Russian. He added some functionalities to the Launcher and did it Russian. If you see in the photo, it is text that is in the xml file, so it does not respond to changes in language. I will replace these, and then we will see.
I do not understand what you want me to do with the two launchers you attached. Modify the widget?

Ah of course, I was thinking the other menus of the launcher are in English, but there are no other menus ! So Russian only.
The other 2 ? The same as what you did to the first if thats ok.

Therefore, BEFORE REPORTING BUGS, check to see if the icon is replaced in the app drawer. Also check to see if you're using a shortcut and not the actual icon.
IF THE ICON IS NOT REPLACED, apply the default theme and then reapply 300PPI just to make sure your eyes aren't fooling you.
IF THE ICON IS REALLY NOT REPLACED, then report the bug.

I was immensely bugged by the low quality icons of a lot of apps, so I decided to fix them myself.
This would ideally work best with a Nova or Apex theme, but since I have absolutely no knowledge of coding, this will start off as an icon set that you have to manually apply. If anyone wants to volunteer to pack this up into a theme so that it can be applied quickly and more thoroughly, shoot me a PM.

I did Falcon Pro, Reddit News, and Friendcaster, but I couldn't do Tapatalk HD because I need it to be in the market so I can screenshot the much higher resolution image with my N10. I can potentially try adding the HD logo on top of the original Tapatalk icon, but I'd rather wait until it officially comes out in the market. They may even add an N10 optimized icon for it by then.

I found the image with the HD written on it similar to the one you posted via Google search, but the quality of it was a bit bad, so I fixed it.

You need a third-party launcher that can replace icons such as Nova Launcher or Apex Launcher (I use Apex, but they're about the same imo).
The problem with an icon set by itself is that it only affects the quality of the icons on your homescreen, not those in the drawer app. In order to apply it to the apps in the drawer as well, you'd need to apply a theme containing these icons. Problem is, I don't know how to make a theme and I've miserably failed many times.

There is a samsung voice app on your phone that you can turn on that will listen even if the screen is off. You just say "Hi Galaxy" and then you can do basically the same thing by asking it questions.

Your cam link have the missing 3 lib files? If not, a lot of the functionality will FC.
The search FC issue, 2 work arounds provided. Replace the lib file or change language.
Man can we just bundle up all the libs and what's needed so when I get home I can have some Google Experience fun

Love the infinite screens. Loved left swupe was google now. Dislike 4x4 icons and crappy dock. In fact disliked so many parts of this crude attempt of a launcher that I just uninstalled. Apex, nova, next are just so much more polished. Google shame on you. I really expected far better than this.

Requirements:
The Xposed Framework
Min sdk version of 15/4.0.3
Installation:
Install the app.
Activate the module in the xposed settings.
Change whatever you want.
Reboot.
Permissions:
KILL_BACKGROUND_PROCESSES to restart the launcher
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE and WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE to load icons
Usage:
Simply open the app, wait for the list to load(which takes an eternity, i know) and either press the settings button to disable the audiofocus function or click an app to rename/change icon.
To avoid the loading, you can also go to the detail view by opening the app info and pressing on the name(thanks to MohammadAG!).
Changes will be applied when restarting the device.
The app can rename ANY app and change the icon of almost any(5 out of 150 apps).
And it is able to disable the audiofocus, now your music won't stop when you accidently open a youtube link.

Known Bugs:
Can't replace all icons. I had a better hook, that didn't use the ressource api, but it didn't work on launchers, only in normal apps. Unicon has this issue as well, so i think it's not my fault.

Its meant for overriding unicon to example. Did you activate the module? Does the xposed log say something? Did you do a full reboot or only a soft? And are the settings showed correctly in the app after closing?

Settings are correct after a full reboot. In /settings /apps the changed names show up. But not in Nova launcher.
I don't understand what you mean regarding the icons. I don't use Unicon. I was in fact the one reporting the app for violating xda rules for it only had a payed version and thus used xda only as an advertising platform.

Apex launcher to example seems to cache the names, you may need to delete the launcher cache. Please also check if the name in the drawer is correct. When talking about unicon i meant that you can use my tool to override icons from packs you dont like.

Emptied Nova's cache and restarted Nova, but it didn't work. Guess I have to manually change names in Nova.
Icons are still a mystery to me. Please explain how to change a single icon with your app. I understand how Unicon works, even though I'm not using it. It's just two or three icons I want to change.
If I click 'change icon', a pop up appears asking for a path. I can't select any icons in one of the icon packs I've got installed, nor can I select the icons of preinstalled apps.

Hi OP, will you share your source code as well? Since you don't want donations there is no need to hide your source code. Especially in the Xposed community it's not adviced to install modules without knowledge of the code. I know many, including me, who don't install closed source modules.

Atm you can only change the icon with a png or jpg, but it will be enhanced. I had to wipe the entire data of nova, so i think they are saving it differently, will look into this.

EDIT: nova launcher has a special table in his launcher.db for storing the name and icon of an app. If you find a way to delete only this table the problem would be solved.

Well, i just noticed a similiar message in my log, seems like i forgot to put the code casting param.thisObject into my desired object into a try block. Will fix this tommorow. Thanks for reporting!

Same here. Works on GEL but not Nova. Its kind of fine that it doesn't work on Nova because Nova can already change the icons and GEL cannot. 1 request though, can you add a file picker to choose icons? As it is, I use ES file explorer to copy the whole file path then paste it into xsuite and it takes forever. Thank you for this module. It already does more than xrenamer.

The little dialog is actually only transitional solution until i find a solution to either send an intent to a file manager to show a picker AND returning it to the DetailActivity or until i write an own picker(which i have no idea how do, to be honest). But its definetly a thing we need!

Thanks for the response. I just restarted after changing a bunch of icons and so far the only icon that didn't change was hangouts. This module seems to work well for GEL with XGELS installed.

Does anyone know what size icons to use with touchwiz launcher? I used 144px icons for Nova and GEL with no problem but on the stock touchwiz launcher, they are tiny. Thanks

I noticed that Hangouts renamed fine in the app drawer, but when I open it, it still says "Hangouts" in the header. Will this be changeable?
So i renamed all of my apps just for the hell of it to see if they all work, out of 50+ apps i found just a single app that wouldnt rename... Endomondo Pro. Kinda weird... I was even able to rename a number of system apps!

The best thing is to just play with it. To make a dock bar, add the "app group", edit it to 1 row and 7 columns. Add the apps you want, adjust icon size, move it wherever you want, and then pin it to all your pages.

Please let me tell why it is not possible.
The vertically scrolling view like app group or app drawer is reuse the child view (for item) while scrolling to increase the scrolling performance (smoothness). That is, the child view scrolled off will be reused for appearing item because it is exactly same for all items. Now let's think the situation that a different widget are in there. The widget is absolutely different view from the others so it must be recreated whenever it appears as scrolling. This will cause lags.

Lightning Launcher Extrem has an Option for sliding Folders with horizontal or vertikal scrolling and it works great. It´s also for Apps, Shortcuts and Widgets.

Maybe, it is not a list view, which reuses child views, but a vertical scroll view, which creates all child views in memory.

Flipster is an Xposed module which allows you to change the icon and name of an app and also all the colors and icons inside an app. These changes are applied systemwide.
I decided to work on this because xSuite module hasn't been updated to support Lollipop.

How to find icon names?
• Use a file manager which can extract or open an apk file directly. Then go inside res folder
• Inside the res folder, if one of these mipmap folders exist, you will find the launcher icon inside one of them (most cases)
• These drawable folders contain all the icons used inside an app.
Also, if mipmap folders don't exist, you'll also find the launcher icon here.
• Enter icon name in Flipster and choose mipmap/drawable (wherever you found the icon) and it will be replaced after a reboot
If you find new launcher icon names of apps, please post them on this thread.
But if you're not registered on XDA, just add comments on this spreadsheet or send an email to [email protected]
This spreadsheet will help others and also be useful to implement icon pack support which I plan to do in the future when there are enough apps in the sheet

Hi, sorry I made a small mistake before releasing the app and the module is not working currently. I'll release a new update very soon.
Hangouts and camera should work. But Nova launcher won't. I'll have a look at it later.

I've fixed the bug and released an update. It will be available from Play store within a couple of hours.
I tested Hangouts and it's not working. Will have a look again tomorrow.
Camera (stock Android) is working. Icon name is logo_camera_color_44in48dp. Type is mipmap.
If you need icon names of any other apps, let me know. I'll update the spreadsheet accordingly.
I'm using LG FLEX 2 with Xposed framework ver. 75.
When I launch Flipster it says "Xposed framework not detected". Didn't even ask for root.
nvm im dumb. needed to enable it in xposed modules..

No, it didn't change anywhere i think... Tried a few other apps.
I looked in settings app and in titanium backup icon is the same, but in Flipster it shows as changed.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong? There was a tip about icon name. I didn't set any.

You have to specify the icon name. Otherwise it won't change.
Viber -> ic_launcher_viber (drawable). Try it and let me know.
I don't have an LG device, so you'll have to give me the apk of phone app.
If you need other icon names, let me know

I tried rebooting a few times, and restarting LG Launcher after boot, nothing worked
Maybe there is a cache of old icon somewhere?
Also I can send you apk of phone and other apps I need, but I think it will be faster if there was a tutorial on how to check icon name.
That way everyone can contribute to your google drive sheet.
Maybe you can add auto naming or selecting from list? After we found out all app icon names of course

Yea launchers are annoying. Most of them don't change. Stock AOSP launcher is the only one I've found to be working properly.
(I'll take a look at LG launcher's code)

Yes I will soon. Detailed instructions with images.
But basically, all you need to do is use a file manager to extract the apk (some file managers also allow to browse without extracting). Then go inside 'res' folder. If you see a 'mipmap' folder there, it will have the launcher icon inside it. If not, just open one of the drawable folders (xxhdpi, xhdpi, etc) and find the name of the launcher icon. Hope you got it?

Sure yea. I created this app for personal use but if a lot of people start using, I'll implement auto import.
@Dreamisdead if you're interested, I'll give you the editing rights for the spreadsheet so that you can enter an app directly whenever you find. Let me know
@PunchUp I don't have sufficient space to install it from Play Store. Please upload the apk file to the Xposed Repository.

Hi, this is not possible for now at least. When there are enough apps in this sheet, I'll add support for icon packs.

Hi, what is not working exactly?
launcher3 shortcut can't get effected.
Any way to change icons of google photos & voice search? They are respectively parts of google+ and google apps, so they can't be changed by using ic_launcher...

What you can do is extract the apk and copy the icons you need to a different directory. That's what I do.
Icons are found in one of the drawable folders in the res folder of the package.

Camera (stock Android) is working. Icon name is logo_camera_color_44in48dp. Type is mipmap.

Hello again. Sorry for bugging you so many times. I just noticed that camera icon name is for android version 5.0-6.0 and what about earlier? I'm on 4.4.2.... (found no custom rom )
