New update "Elephone_P9000_20160531" IS IT BETTER? - Elephone P9000 Questions & Answers

I just received new update from Elephone P9000 and I'm looking for feedback about it pros and cons, thank you

Can't you give us a feedback? ?

Did not do a lot yet, but wifi seems to be better. Battery can not say a lot about it yet.

Fingerprint recognition seems much better. You have to redo it after update therefore it seems they changed something there.

Looks that wifi has larger battery consumption, maybe have to do a factory reset somewhere today.

I had previously defined 4 fingers for fingerprint reader so after the update those were gone and I could only re-define 1 new finger. Also had issues storing a new wifi password.
Ended up resetting the phone and all is well now.

Does updating remove the root from the phone if you have it rooted?

is there a way to update via twrp?

I didn't lose root when I updated.
[Update] I thought I had updated but actually it didn't. Apologies. Not sure whether you'll lose root.

5% battery drain in 6 six hours! Wow!

This has fixed my FP delayed unlock issue! Could not be happier right now! Battery life however not tested yet as I've had to reinstall all the apps which is killing it... Here's hoping 5% battery drop in 6 hrs is true! Well done devs!

I took it off the charger ~13hrs ago (4am) and so far i still got 60% battery left with 2 hrs 10 min SOT as of now.

You'd be best to tell us that then!
I'm currently using darksense 1.0, which I find best for me. If the update has significant improvements I'll change back...

It comes as a zip?! Don't you need to revert back to stock & then search for update in settings? (About phone menu)

I had to factory reset for the last one to work, thought this one might install. I'm not rooted and using elephone stock ROM. So I shouldn't need a factory reset by rights.

I had the same problem of the message "corrupted update.zip" at the time of reboot. In an other forum someone mentioned that one has to remove the SD-card and put the SIM in to that position. It is actually enough to pull out the tray with the SIM and SD card and to (re-)initiate the update. I do not know why but it seems that at time of startup the update.zip is searched for at the wrong location if a SD card is inserted. After that the update process worked fine for me and up to now, there was no need to do a factory reset. BTW Fingerprint unlock works fine and battery life seems to be improved indeed.

So just pop out the tray with the phone running and then install the update?

Well more or less... You should obviously go for the safe eject function for the SD-card in the storage settings, switch the phone off, pop out the tray, reboot, go to the update settings an then initiate the update... that worked for me.

Looking like a factory reset after all. Installed the update but FP scanner not playing fair. Can't add prints until I delete some but can't get to them.

A strange app in my app list

Hello,
I have been using my HTC Evo 3D for sometime now and have recently noticed a strange app thing in my app list which i did not install and the worst thing is that i can't uninstall it. I am attaching a couple of screen shots of the app below. I will be thankful to the kind soul who'll help me solve this problem. The app is named " *116# " and if i click on it...it says USSD code running and then gives me a message "Service is currently unavailable GW1".
*i have tried factory resetting and formatting my SD card.
*my phone is not rooted.
*It doesn't appear in the running applications, just the applications list

That's strange. I tried to google it and found nothing. Did it just show up or did you JUST notice it? What country/carrier do you have? Could you give us as much info as possible?
"We're coming from a pure power source."
Are you on a GSM 3d or Sprint? If Sprint, this is not a "factory" system app so it should NOT be there and may be a root kit/virus. If you're not rooted, you will have to root to be able to remove it via root explorer. Probably be in system/app since you say it's uninstallable. If you're on a GSM phone I have no idea whether it's supposed to be there or not....so I won't advise whether to remove or not. Good luck.

Well i have to be honest that i did notice it a week back but i didn't pay much attention to it. Today as i looked at it i tried to see what it was and then hit a dead end. I am from Pakistan and using Ufone (GSM) services. The phone is carrier free and i almost hit it with a hammer to get rid of it
Maybe its a carrier installed app. Can you contact Ufone and ask about it?

use Root Uninstaller
i just don't want to root my phone and root uninstaller works with rooted phones only...guess im just stuck with it...

i contacted U-Fone and they said they don't send/install any apps without the confirmation of the user and even if they do it goes to the "U-Fone Kit Menu"...im giving up on this ...if its not harming me...im gonna let it be..

Your phone has the herps bud. Were you in Vegas recently?
On a more serious note, the description says it has access to "Services which cost you money" which could potentially access financial information stored on your phone.
If you are adamant about not rooting it then you should have nothing to fear about taking it in and letting the service technicians remove it for you at your cell phone provider's store front. If they can't remove it I would ask for a new device. It never hurts to ask.

On a more serious note, it says it has full access to communications meaning someone can hijack you and call all over the world with your number and leave you the bill.
I'd swap that phone out ASAP and make sure you are only downloading from a the Play Store and not off some website to save a buck for an ad-free angry birds....
I agree with PMG, both scenarios are bad, get tech support in person from the provider and have them take care if it.

Remove your sim card and then try to factory reset from boot loader or android.
then check if they are still there......if not then insert your sim back in and check again.....

I think your best bet is re-attempting to flash a SBF using RSD Lite. Try with RSD Lite 5.6 (it can be downloaded from here).
If you are able to flash the SBF successfully, you may end up in a boot loop. To resolve that, get into Recovery and do a wipe data / wipe cache.
That must be the same with Sensation, if you flash something new, you need to (edit: deleted).
If you can get into android recovery format system, format cache, format data then try and run your sbf. you must clear out cm7 prior to sbf.
Thanks for the advice, but the battery on the phone died! Is there a way to charge it?
USB trick...
I did all of this, then installed the SBF. Here are some screenshots of my progress.

Didnt realize you had already done all of what i posted in your other thread. That's why you got kindof bashed on for making two of the same thread Saying it failed is actual normal in most cases. Mine always says it fails but always works. Reboot your phone and see what happens.
After using the sbf, I reboot the phone and for the first time it looks like it might actually boot up. It gets to the "Sprint" screen, Where it says "Welcome to Now" once it shows "Now" the phone hangs there, then goes back to the Motorola screen. Not much luck here so far.. :/

You would have to do the usb trick. Take an old usb cable, cut the opposite end off and strip the wire slightly. Place the positive wire on the positive panel on the phone, and the negative on the negative. Plug it into your AC adapter and it'll charge. Theres videos on how to properly do this on youtube. But its really not hard.
Oh, so it's like charging a car battery? Seems simple enough. I wish these wires weren't so damn small though! xD

It will probably work, I just don't want your battery to explode so I opted for less power and longer charge time to be safe.

I had the same **** happen to mine just the other day, were you unlocked before and used any 2.3.5 rom. I was on mofish, then went to cm9, wifi broke relocked and tried to sbf but nothing but boot loops, tried cm7 but the only way i could get mine to work had to unlock again using fastboot, install jokers cwm v4, and i had to flash, skinny, shadow our mofish again that is the only way it would boot and work, order a replacement i think they did something in the new software build messing with the bootloader

[Q] Rooting & Flashing Question

I'm going to flash my TB to PagePlus but was waiting until the all-in-one tool is available, hopefully next week. The guy I bought the phone off accepted the OTA ICS update.
If I flash the phone to Pageplus first and then do the root after, does anyone know if rooting will screw up the flashing? I don't think it will but thought I'd ask YOU experts!
Thanks
Probably should root first just in case

Rooting after flashing to Page Plus should be okay.
As long as you don't mess with any radios, I'd assume.

I've been working on this phone for 3 days now, following every tutorial I can find, and I can't seem to get the data up. With the 4g card in I can SEE the APN, but can't edit it. With the card out my phone won't let me see it. I don't know if the settings are right, so I'm going to try to attach screen shots of my settings. I hope someone can help me get data on this phone. Everything I read says its due to the HA/AAA keys. Without them, you can't authenticate. I've got voice/data/txt working with or without a SIM card. It doesn't seem to care except for the NAG message.

I'd put them back and try again. Try leaving the SIM out also. I have an AT&T SIM in mine and I get at least 1x data.

To be honest....I haven't done it yet. Been too busy and the All in one tool looks like it may have a few issues.....I'm gonna wait it out. I have been on PP for a few weeks now. No issues. No 3g but I don't really need it.
I flashed to Page Plus months ago and I love it... I get the same thing as I had with verizon but I pay $29 instead of $89 a month. I had a company called beigephone.com flash my phone for $50 because I didn't have time to figure it out myself. my 3g works perfectly though, so if your 3g doesn't work maybe your settings need to be fixed. did you flash it for Page Plus yourself? I'd actually like to learn how to do it, especially if it can be done without using CDMA WS.
I just used the all-in-one tool + revolutionary to root a different thunderbolt that was still on gingerbread (2.11.605.19). The only hiccup was that I had to remove/re-install the HTC drivers twice (solution here).
Please let me know if you decide to try it out on your ICS thunderbolt!

Has it been dropped or wet? Have you installed any new app or updated anything before this?
Try pulling the battery, putting it back in, leaving it off. Then press and hold the volume+, home, and power button until the phone boots into recovery and do a factory reset ****CAUTION. ... YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA THAT HAS NOT BEEN BACKED UP VIA SD CARD OR SYNCED TO YOUR SAMSUNG/GOOGLE ACCOUNT ****
hope that helps

it was dropped but in a spigen tough armor case --- perfect condition no visable damage or anything dropped from about 2 feet --- no water damage --- cannot boot into recovery that's why I figured it was hardware however it did boot once into safe mode but I cannot replicate that ---- I'm going to go to T-Mobile after work, think they will replace it under warranty?
Hard to say if it has been dropped. However with no visible damage, something is very well damaged on the inside.
It should be able resist that kind of blow though.
Have you tried to get into download mode?

Try to get back into recovery and factory reset if you have no other choice.
If you are near a computer you could try to backup the data on there real quick with keis or something, but I doubt it will be able to read your phone if it won't boot. Bleh

Hi Nate,
I have the exact same issue , been like this for a few days now. Not been dropped badly and phone is in a solid cover. I have been to my service provider and they are clueless. Have you been able to get to the bottom of the problem or fix the phone? Thanks. Steve
Sounds like hardware at first. However, never heard of hardware issue causing snowy screen. That sounds more like an app or malware. Be it my first actual encounter with it on android.
If you can get to Odin mode reflash the tar file, that will at least clear out any system partition issues. Also will flash stock recovery. Then I'd try getting into stock recovery to wipe data.

The screen connector is the culprit.. As it's supposed to touch only the side break fix of the circuit... It's the small opening or power inlet socket where you charge the phone.. The technician repair should rectify it..I got this game problem a few days ago.. Researched and found that this was the main culprit for this particular white fuzzy distorted

1) Defective/Faulty LCD Display Assembly.
2) A bad Connection between the LCD Ribbon to the Mainboard/Motherboard.
3) Defective/Faulty Mainboard/Motherboard itself.
That's the best I can provide you as I don't physically have your device.
The following link does have various Guides/Tutorials regarding almost anything for the Galaxy S5 device that may come in handy for you.

Let's go sprint!

No OTA love in Florida! Better off downgrading and rooting anyways.
Im in florida and I got ota, may just like be your phone reboot in recovery and clear cache maybe that'll work.
I even did a reactivation. You near South Florida?
Its because there isn't much going on till Friday.

Cool, where did that info come from
I don't see why Sprint or even LG doesn't have a downloadable update via website that computer literate people can use to update their own phones

How is your battery life? I've heard mixed things since people have updated. I'm mostly interested in Lollipop for the improved encryption.

I got that rollout information (proof: http://www.reddit.com/r/LGG3/comments/2wbswp/sprint_lollipop_rollout_schedule/ ) from a Sprint live chat.
Reading the comments on Reddit from the link you posted- I CAN CONFIRM THAT THIS COMMENT WORKS! AFTER DOING THIS AND CHECKING FOR UPDATE - I rebooted.... went back to said LG SOFTWARE UPDATE and I am NOW downloading the update! PS Make sure you change your connection back to lte

I'm from Chicago and wasn't part of the 10% that received the update. I forced the update to my phone by repeating this process: 1) Shutting off data, wi-fi and location. 2) Clearing data for Google Services Frameworks under ALL apps in settings. 3) Went into settings and under Wireless Networks I clicked More...>Mobile Networks>Network Mode> cdma 4) Checked for LG software updates under system updates and found it.

I genuinely believe you guys are messing with me lol
I can't believe it myself but it worked for me!!! I was surprised since they have been saying all along that wiping data on any google services would not jump start the update.. but it did.
Man do I like the update
No update here in Lincoln, NE either. I tried clearing data a few times...no luck. Are guys just clearing data on the framework services?

Did you do all of the steps? All I know is after following those steps verbatim.. It worked (I'm near philly)
If this rollout is true, I'm not surprised no one has it yet! I got this from another thread.. not sure which one anymore.

Yes followed the instructions exactly. Although they don't say to turn mobile data back on before checking for the update, but I tried doing that too with no success.

It does work. At least for me and many others. Took one try, update came right up. Live in Chicago myself and seems like the initial roll out was isolated to a small percent around Florida.
