How to trigger OTA update? - Elephone P9000 Questions & Answers

My phone showed notification of the new 20160531 stock ROM update on Saturday, but I needed to use the phone and didn't install it.
Now I'd like to go ahead, but can't find a way to start the process - the notification hasn't appeared since. I've tried rebooting, disconnecting and reconnecting to wifi. The Wireless Update app reports to be running, but wouldn't let me force stop and restart.
Thanks!

Could you explain your problem? May I just don't get you.
you tried to install your OTA Update, but it isn't possible anymore?
Restarting and searching manually for the Update via Settings should solve your Problem?

Sure - the OTA update notification appeared for a day, but I didn't install it (I needed the phone that day, didn't want to mess it up). Now I would like to install it (mainly for the promised battery optimisation) but the notification is gone and I don't see any way to get it back.

I haven't found anything about OTA update so far, just Android settings. There is a system app called Wireless Update which provides the notification from Elephone; just says it's running.

Well, go into Settings, below there search for 'About phone'-'About my phone' (at the bottom) and click on 'system updates'.
Is this working?

[Q] Downloading Update Notification won't go away. Any ideas?

Hi guys,
I've the Atrix 4G 4.5.91. It is SIM unlocked and I'm using it in India. I frequently get the popup message asking me to update the firmware to 2.3.6, but I always cancel it as I'm planning to unlock the BL and flash custom ROMs.
Yesterday, I pressed the 'Update' button by mistake and the download got initiated, but as I was not connected to Wi-Fi at that moment, it left a notification 'Enable Wi-Fi to start download update'. This notification is not going away, even if I reboot the phone.
Now I'm not at all using Wi-Fi, fearing that the update will start. How do I get rid of this notification? Is Factory reset the only option?
Pls help. Thanks in advance.
didnt search the forum did you?

I did search. The page you have pointed out is for rooted users. I have not done anything with my mobile yet. It is brand new. It is unrooted and locked bootloader (as you can see from my signature).
And I did not ask about suppressing the updater popup. I already pressed 'Update' (by mistake) and there is a presistent notification on the notification bar asking me to enable Wi-Fi. I just want to get rid of the notification, as I fear that connecting to Wi-Fi would start the update, which I don't want to happen.

[Q] Software update asking to update ?!

Hi!
Today ICS for TPH (unbranded) was released according to @SamKiesUpdates and sort after I began receiving a update message from Software Update service asking to update (When I bought the phone I in my naiveness turn the options on on Settings->About->Software Update).
Software update never asked me for nothing and every time I did a check for update it said none until today.
My question is: Is there a way to stop it from asking? I can postpone the update up until 7 days but the icon saying that it was postponed stays nagging
Also does anyone know the download folder for the service in case it has download the ROM update?

Pretty simple...Go to settings-->about phone-->Software Update-->Uncheck Auto update and Push message option...Probably reboot if required.
And that should do it.
Don't forget to hit the thanks button if it helped.
Thanks for the tip, it helped but wasn't enough...
I had to go also to Settings->Applications->Manage Application->All->Software Update and do a Clear Data
Then I rebooted just to be sure... and it stopped
Please set it again and dont clear data.

Strange Software Update Status

All, have been reading the news about the imminent S-OFF - very exciting! Saw the references to the new OTA update and decided to check my DInc4G to see if I had it yet since I don't recall any notifications about it. Went to Settings>Software update and touched "Check new". After about 15 seconds of "Checking for new Software update available now." popup, it dissappears and goes right back to the Software Update menu - no errors, nothing about no updates being available...
So then I touch "Status" and get the following: Status popup with the following field's/values:
Source: Verizon Wireless
Name: {blank}
Status: {blank}
Code: 0
Date: {blank}
Time: {blank}
Description: {blank}
Does that strike anyone as odd? How am I supposed to tell whether or not I have the update? I don't have another DInc4G to compare it to which is why I'm asking here.
BTW, I never tried to root this phone - got wind of the locked bootloader before I got around to trying...
Any help greatly appreciated,
Chris

this is normal, my son-in-law went through the same thing, he finally got the update, but he did call verizon support, don't know if that had anything to do with it or not. they also told him to do a factory reset, about an hour later he got the update.
settings | about |software information
if you've gotten the update you will have 4.0.4 for android and 4.1 for htc sense
That is what it should say. My said the same thing prior to the update, it is normal. Go into software info in settings, it should still say - "Android 4.0.3, Sense 4.0"
That will let you know if you still have original purchased software version.

Looks like you beat me to this
OK so I did see that I'm still on 4.0.3 and sense 4.0. Is the check for software update behavior also normal? (no response and acting as if I didn't initiate a check)

Thanks for the info/link - applied this update manually yesterday and confirmed it was applied in Settings>About>Software Information.
I may now have a need to reapply this update (an app appears to have gotten corrupted somehow and uninstalling/reinstalling it didn't help). I figured it wouldn't be too painful (this update did wipe out all user data/settings) to just start over since I had only applied the update a few hours prior. However, I can no longer get to the boot loader pressing volume down/power. Does anyone know if something in this update prevents getting back to the boot loader? Is it possibly because it knows that update has already been applied?
BTW, the app in question is Skype. I was successfully doing a video call when someone called my cell phone. It put the video call on hold when this happened. After finishing the cell call and trying to go back to the Skype video call, I could no longer get the video side to work. Tried reinitiating the call, but never got audio/video working at the same time. Tried rebooting, reinstalling Skype, no joy. Was going to try reflashing this ROM but now I can't get back to the boot loader.
Any insights greatly appreciated...

Yes, I did see that suggestion and tried it yesterday but it didn't help. To add to the mystery, I tried to get into the boot loader again this morning and for whatever reason, it let me in so I proceeded with the re-flash. Haven't had a chance to try Skype again yet though.
Thanks,
Chris

I had that all the time....had to do it through KIES in the end
Why don't you just use Odin? One quick download and then flash the phone. If you prefer using the phone and not a computer get Mobile Odin.

NFC Broken?

When i turn on NFC and try to receive something from my friend it goes into play story and says error. Should i just flash the NFC fix
? in the settings it says that it is on.

Did you root your phone?
Have you stopped any service under the application menu?
Try a hard reset, that might help

Ok so check if all android services are up and running. Some ROMS turn off certain services, go check under General > apps > All and see if there is any service stopped.
- You may hard reset or reflash as well
