Turn on Battery Optimizations for all apps - AT&T LG G5 Questions & Answers

I noticed there are certain apps that won't allow me to turn on battery optimization. These are apps I don't use like AT&T address book (one I particularly hate), caller name ID, family utility, LG IMS (I actually don't know what this is), and messages back up and sync. Is there any way to force override battery optimization for these apps or am I stuck with them. I'm trying to save as much battery as I can.

Just disable the apps so they stop running in the background

Google music beta

I'm using the Google music App and sometimes it will ask for superuser permission. This only started after I was invited to the beta. Anybody know why?

Where did you get the Music.apk from? That application shouldn't be asking for SU access.
Code:
This application has access to the following:
Your accounts
manage the accounts list
Allows an application to perform operations like adding, and removing accounts and deleting their password.
use the authentication credentials of an account
Allows an application to request authentication tokens.
act as an account authenticator
Allows an application to use the account authenticator capabilities of the AccountManager, including creating accounts and getting and setting their passwords.
Network communication
full Internet access
Allows an application to create network sockets.
Phone calls
read phone state and identity
Allows the application to access the phone features of the device. An application with this permission can determine the phone number and serial number of this phone, whether a call is active, the number that call is connected to and the like.
Storage
modify/delete USB storage contents modify/delete SD card contents
Allows an application to write to the USB storage. Allows an application to write to the SD card.
System tools
modify global system settings
Allows an application to modify the system's settings data. Malicious applications can corrupt your system's configuration.
display system-level alerts
Allows an application to show system alert windows. Malicious applications can take over the entire screen.
prevent device from sleeping
Allows an application to prevent the device from going to sleep.
write sync settings
Allows an application to modify the sync settings, such as whether sync is enabled for Contacts.
write subscribed feeds
Allows an application to modify your currently synced feeds. This could allow a malicious application to change your synced feeds.
Nothing in that list requires access to the /system or the /bin file systems of your phone.
I downloaded it off the market. I didn't think it should be asking.

When I got invited the music app downloaded itself on my nook color and my myt4g right after I finished registration. It's never asked for superuser before.

GCM (Google Cloud Messaging) & eBay app

As I understand it, push notification is delivered in Android by GCM, which replaced C2DM.
For this to work you need "auto-sync" switched on your device and setup for that app.
This should allow for 2 things:
Lower power and bandwidth usage by server pushing rather than phone polling and pulling information
notification works even if the app is not running, as the msg can include a INTENT to start the app
However my eBay app gets notifications after a reboot, without me starting the app and without auto-sync being switched on or eBay app appearing in its list of apps.
Any thoughts?
Is eBay auto-starting (shouldn't be according to ES task mgr) is it polling for updates (surely that is not peformance friendly).
is there any further information I can provide to help with this query?
Hello,
Your post is old, but let me bring my answer...
you should use another app to detect whether or not if your app is able to autostart or no ie : autorun manager, or the Xposed module(boot manager)
Ebay will autostart because of notification as stated in the attachment file...

[Q] Controlling cellular data use by app ala iOS

In the stock android main settings you can manually restrict background data for individual apps (though the settings menu prompts you that it is usually better to find the option for this within the app itself which clearly seems to be the android paradigm).
I don't see anyway though, to centrally control foreground data for individual apps. I.e. If I want an app that relies on an internet connection to refresh on WiFi only but the app itself doesn't have an option for this and I don'[t want to turn network data off completely (as I still want to use it for other apps). Other than just not opening that particular app does Android provide any way to handle this like iOS does?
Somewhat related is the new Hangouts app. On iOS I notice it provides an in-app setting to use WiFi only but the Android app does not seem to have this option (v2.3.75067996). Is there any particular reason for this? An architectural difference between Android and iOS maybe?

Please advise: how to implement scheduling through automation

Hi, I have a note 4 lollipop. The Samsung messaging app is great because you can schedule messages to be sent later, I believe Gmail also has this capability though perhaps not yet from the app.
However I communicate with people mostly through telegram, what's app, viber, facebook, etc. None of these offer delayed messages capability.
I was wondering if there was some automation app or combination of apps, that I could use to request the message and time in a dialog then wait until that time and then macro control some app and paste the text there to send.
I'm interested in a non root solution however, root is a good plan B. Although xposed onky works on one device I have, so non xposed is probably preferable.
Does anyone have any ideas or would this not be possible due to security sandbox in type restrictions?

Function to disable multiple predesignated apps?

At the place I am working, I am using my personal Galaxy S8+ and there are tons of apps I need to install for work, from communication to authentication related apps.
I want to know whether there's some kind of an app or internal function which can simply disable apps predefined by me on weekends or a chosen time to conserve battery and data?
