Lg treasure L52VL - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Wondering if there was a root method for this phone it the straight talk version on verizon towers. If someone could make this possible i would appreciate it. If you need any files please explain how to get them here as i dont know how and i will give anything i can.

Also, can the bootloader be unlocked?

How about the lg l62vl? Anything for this?

I have the tracfone version of Treasure. Still no root I haven't followed K7 thread in a while. I think they don't have a stable root either. I don't know what to buy anymore. Locked bootloaders, locked "unlocked" verizon LTE GSM bands, unrootable. I'll have to look for 2012-2014 phones when things used to be easy and fun.

I hear that.. just got root not that long ago on grand prime straight talk version. Now just waiting on a custom rom. Tried xposed but there isn't much available for touchwiz so the wait begins.

I just tried the latest kingroot on vz optimus zone 3 and it worked. Wonder what can go wrong if i try it on the Treasure/k7.

Enable developer settings
Enable oem
install supersu from play store
get for windows only!: https://www.kingoapp.com/
Get lg drivers: http://tool.lime.gdms.lge.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=UW00120120425
Run kingoroot after installing drivers and let it go

Sorry king root doesn't work for this phone already tried.

I just tried Kingoroot it said successful but no SU installed so i think it lied to me.

Tried recent kingroot releases but no go for tracfone Treasure. I think TF cripples its phones intentionally.

Yeah TF will only provide and unlock code if the devices shows 12 months . and they call it pre-paid ha..........

and as far as the primier l62vl sister unit goes, also unrootable it seems. i started with the treasure and took it back for primier. this is deplorable. unrootable? locked bootloaders? i had no idea i would run into this ... when my galaxy S4 caught on fire in the break room at work... i saw that display, and read the specs, and for a hundred bucks.. senses 10 points on touch display... HD also... i thought what a deal. no. i am giving this to my daughter Olivia for her 9th birthday. unrootable?? nothing i want. time to just save for that S7 or Note... Samsung... im coming home baby. OK honestly and seriously, will this ever become rootable? should i leave Straight talk? i love root.. all things root you could say (i know i should not say that here... but were are all friends no?) help

I have given up on the lg L52VL and like my friend above will pass it to my daugher. Never again will i purchase a TracFone Branded device, I'll keep using the straighttalk service as it's the best deal for my area, But from now on it's purchase unlocked phone and BYOP with straight Talk , What saddens me the most is with all the brain power in the Android Community no one but no one can break tracfones strangle hold on it's devices. I ran in to the same thing with the Moto E Xt830C which now lays in a drawer collecting dust. I guess when enough people get fed up with tracfone and it's locking of prepaid devices and stop shopping at walmart for phones maybe we'll see a change but i wont hold my breath.

Tried both recent kingroot and kingoroot. No root for tracfone Treasure. Both king and kingo successfully rooted boost Tribute 5. I wonder if Tribute 5 fw can be flashed in Treasure and then rooted?

If you flash anything for a different phone it WILL brick the phone. I wouldn't even try.

St & TF is guilty of this. There is a disclaimer @THE bottom of the ST page I think it mentions rooting. I believe it says something about a year then you can call them and get it done.

I'm sure it will become root able. At some point someone that knows what they are doing will figure it out. I wouldn't leave straight talk just because there is no dev. support for this phone. I have a galaxy grand prime through straight talk and have it rooted with supersu and am now doing testing on a kernel and rom so it's not just straight talk. If you really want a phone to take root you must be proactive about it, post in forums, or just figure it out yourself. Lots of developers out there, just got to find the right ones. I'm no longer using the phone but still have it. Have been trying to learn most of this stuff so I can make a program that can unlock the bootloader but I also have a job so it's not looking like something that will be completed for a long time.

A few words for my fellow Photoners

My contract with Sprint is going to be up soon and, sadly, I am moving on to a different device. Although my Photon was a great device the unfulfilled promises from Moto/Sprint and lack of a trouble free ROM above Gingerbread leaves me no other suitable option but to upgrade. Tie that to the fact that I have moved to an area where Sprint service barely exists and my P4G's fate is sealed.
That said, everyone here in the Photon forums will be missed. There are some very talented dev's here that I owe a great amount of Thanks to. Loki, th3bill, jokersax and so many others made it possible to unlock much of my device's potential. If only Moto would have coughed up what they promised the Photon would have truly been a formitable device for anyone to reckon with.
Anyone have suggestions on the best place to list a near mint Photon4G with an unlockable bootloader? I'm sure it could possibly be of some use to a devloper somewhere.
(Mods please don't delete, I am not trying to sell here. Just want to know the best place to list.)
I got a Photon Q used for $100. No LTE here yet, but was able to Unlock bootloader and running CM10.2

Sounds like a good deal. For me I'm going to Big Red, Sprint has no local service here (only roaming) and everyone else is either more $$ or bad service (did a lot of research). So I gave in and am getting the GS4.

I switched to ATT for the same reasons you're talking about Verizon. I also got the S4 and I LOVE it. It has the best battery life of any phone I have ever had, bar none. I bought two extra batteries and a charger, as I always do when I get a new phone, it's been two months now, and I have yet to use them. One day I got the battery down to 17%, but otherwise, never below 30%, and I do use the phone a lot. I don't miss my Moto phones at all. Never again. Regarding selling your phone, I think they promote swappa around here. You could always use craigslist too. But if you're in a position to consider it, as I was, think about donating to one of the developers. I donated my phone and honestly hope some good has come of it.

For me, I cannot think of a phone I want LESS than this moto phone. They used to have better radios but I don't think that's true anymore. My S4 works everywhere I've needed it. No dropped calls, 4G service that's much better than Sprints service, and we had 4G LTE here in Houston. Step away from the moto addiction, you won't be sorry you did. There is GOOD life without moto, and Punit Soni doesn't need your buisness, trust me on that. That guy has deluded himself about his honesty and ethics, to the point that he doesn't even realize he talks out of both sides of his mouth.
I agree with the sentiments expressed on the development here, and the community that was built. It was the friendliest, most helpful group of people I'd ever been around bar none. I miss that a lot, but I haven't missed the photon for 5 minutes. Well, I kind of missed it while I used the Galaxy Nexus I bought off ebay for six months, that thing had horrible battery life, but otherwise was an equivalent phone. Since I've had the S4, not missed the photon for a minute.
Thanks retailguy, you're the second person that has told me good things about the GS4. Hopefully I'll get the MDK build instead of ME7 when I pick it up this week.
I'm ditching smartphones completely and moving to the Omate TrueSmart. If I'm going to loose Ubuntu for Android functionality I see no reason for me to waste my money on a smartphone.

Most likely. Motorola has built a website to unlock the bootloader. But beware, the moment you use it, your warranty will be voided.

Truthfully, I don't know which build I even have. Other than access to wireless tethering, and removing the ATT bloat, I see no reason to even root the phone. It's THAT good.

Moto may have built the site but I have read in many places that VZW does not support or allow unlockable BL's from the mfg's.

Yep, you're right. Not having Verizon, I forgot about that. Unless someone finds an exploit, the bootloader will stay locked. And considering that no one has found an exploit for the Photon, it's doubtful that anyone will find one for the X. Personally, I believe that's why Motorola never unlocked the photon bootloader, it was their unofficial "test" to see if the community could defeat their security. But, I've also been accused of being a bit paranoid too.
You must be talking about the Photon Q. I remember reading that before it was released. The Photon 4G was put out with an unlockable bootloader. That was the reason I picked one up. Mine runs CM10.2. I really like the features that Cyanogenmod puts into their ROMs. That's why I'm hoping to get the MDK build. If I do CM will be on my GS4 in a matter of hours.
If you are on Verizon or AT&T, expect every phone you buy to be locked down tighter than Fort Knox. To the people looking for the MDK build of the S4, YOU WILL NOT FIND IT. YOUR PHONE WILL BE PERMALOCKED OOB. The turnover was brutally fast, and 99.9% of all new units after the OTA were shipped with ME7 pre-installed. That's for both carriers. Unless you buy used or can verify that it wasn't updated. My friend has the AT&T one, and I keep telling him that I feel his pain haha.

Motorola pushed an update that locked the bootloader. Anyone who had 2.3.4 and accepted that update got a present of a locked bootloader that no one has been able to defeat. My understanding is if you got 2.3.5 from the factory you did not have this problem. Only those who participated in the soak test have locked bootloaders.
You must have a factory 2.3.5 phone, or one that originally had 2.3.4 and was not updated as part of the soak test.

Wow. This is surprising and disappointing, but truthfully, I haven't even thought about unlocking the bootloader on this phone. The stock rom does everything I want it to do, and since it's the most popular Samsung phone out there , it'll probably be supported longer than I care to use it. It will affect what I buy next time, the whole locked bootloader really ticks me off, but c'est la vie. I will survive. At least they didn't lock it during a soak test and take functionality away from me. I stupidly didn't investigate before I bought the phone. Won't do that again...

All that matters to them is the phone details. They can SIM unlock it once you provide them with the carrier info (the carrier the phone was manufactured for, not who you plan to use it with) and the IMEI. Pull the trigger already.

Yes, it comes in the root tool over in the dev threads. I used it until about a week ago before switching over to Philz touch recovery. BTW, if you decide to get the G3 and don't like it, I'm down for a swap. I'm waiting for one more paycheck before going ahead and biting the bullet anyway.

Does the Verizon Moto E have root and roms?

Just bought the Verizon moto e at best buy and have it working on t mobile but want to install custom roms.
Sadly it does not. Just bought mine today as a secondary device.
I am just hoping that someone can do something to unlock that bootloader (could the stagefright vulnerability be used to do some things since it does have some root capabilities?) or at least get the device loki'd.

i bought it for the same reason at best buy to uses as a backup for myself or a friend of family member. Just like you i was curious about rooting and custom roms for it. Sadly i found out by trying to follow the tutorial to unlock the bootloader and when i went to Motorola website for the unlock code it said my device couldn't be unlocked :crying:
Before i picked up the Moto e i seen on XDA the Verizon variant could be used on any service so i didn't even think twice to see if it was unlock-able before trying.
Just now wile typing this it actually got me thinking and the thought of the Verizon variant being able to be used on. got me wondering.
Under the hood of the Verizon Moto e is the hardware exactly the same as the other variants or are there more radios for the Verizon network? I ask this because if its the same would there be someway to install the international variant bootloader on the Verizon variant and then unlock it?
if that sounds very stupid im sorry lol. I don't know very much about unlocking devices besides how to follow tutorials of how to unlock a device. But i do know how to flash and install things im kind of a flashaholic thats one reason i looked to unlock this device right away
Verizon as is already annoys me by how there devices have locked bootlaoders thankfully someone found a workaround for the G3, but seeing how this is a prepaid device that customers pay in full for i don't see why they have to lock it down...

Can't overwrite the bootloader since it is locked, the partition is locked to read. However, I was thinking, since it has that 5.1 update, it must've written to the system partition and which case I wonder if a fake update of some kind be used. Kingoroot also somehow can mount and write to the system partition through their rooting process, if someone can figure how it does that, there is hope for this version.
There is also the possibility of someone developing loki for this phone too, which would bring at least some custom action to this.
Verizon does some weird things, both it and AT&T, I just don't understand them. AT&T locks down the device and sometimes they even get updates that were released for the phone. Verizon declines other phones which people want. Anyways, we only paid $10 for phone, couldn't say no to that, right? Unlocked SIM and if they do find a workaround, just cherry on top of the icing.

I hope so, would really suck to stay on 5.1 and miss out on any security updates, etc.
But from the looks of scanning through part of the forum, no seems to be taking on the task of figuring out a way to do so. The one guy that was trying had school that took over his time and then there are no other threads about it.
Yeah, I hope that you are right that all these new devices out there will spark something.

Begging for LG V10 verizon(vs990) unlock bootloader/root

I hate how AT&T and verizon spend millions of dollars to lock the crap out of their phones. If you are going sell the phones at full retail price then you have no right to put so many restrictions on the phones. I wish someone can go slap these greedy stink executives. You guys already screwing us with ridiculous and nonsense activation fees. All beggers are welcome on this thread. What you guys think how long will it be when the root will be available? Do you think we will ever be able to unlock the bootloader on this phone?
I'd sayyyy... March or April. However, the bounty for a Dev to get this done for the VS990 is up to $2210 at the time of this post, as you might already know.
Dont hold your breath, root is a thing of the past.
So I just saw this, could this be any light to rooting our phone?

Our Linux Kernel version is 3.10.49, which meets requirements of this zero-day exploit.
Here's a more in-depth of the exploit: http://perception-point.io/2016/01/...f-a-linux-kernel-vulnerability-cve-2016-0728/
i'm looking to upgrade my aging Note2, and so far this is looking like the best option, so I'm hoping there's a root/rom hack soon!

Hope youre right but I just dont see it. Note 4 on Verizon is still locked and it is getting to be an old phone. Verizon and AT&T have been paid a lot of money to put third party apps on and also to protect their own warranty liabilities so they lock them down religiously. I see root only for serious hackers and they keep it for themselves...

Oh I thought you meant in general. I agree that it may not happen on Verizon. I use Nexus devices now that they work on Verizon but the last Verizon branded phone I had before these and the v10 was the note 3. That had that boot strap root and all that but I doubt we will see root for our v10. I can't go without a nexus because I need full on access to my device and all the customization that comes with it. Viper4android has become a must for me.

Viper4Android FX is awesome! I have it on my G3 and its makes my Bluetooth LG Tone Ultra's headphones and streaming to my cars Kenwood stereo so freaking amazing!
V10 really looks much more worth the money as an upgrade for the G3....but only the Tmobile version has root as of now. I was playing with my co-workers Tmobile rooted V10 today.....interesting thing he discovered, the screen is one large screen, not 2 screens as the recovery gets cut off by the front cams....
Sadly, I don't have much hope for the VZW model. Probably just get a G4 since that has root and stick to that phone for a while.

What? Viper4android is your reason for wanting root? You should check out the v10 with hifi audio.

Want a bad ass phone? Buy the nexus 6 or 6p. Root it and unlock the damn bootloader and bam you're done! I have the N6, and its from VZW but it will work on any carrier GSM or CDMA, that's why iv had it for over a year. Verizon needs to up there stock and start stocking the 6p! VERIZON can kiss my ass, I'll use my Verizon branded baby shamu with what ever mother ****ing carrier I so choose! Now I feel better. We...us ...people need to raise up and start stirring up some **** and petition Verizon and AT&T to allow the people that's keeping them in business the ****ing opportunity for root and B/L unlock any device we so choose!! Stand up and stop being *****es and raise some hell.

I won't buy a phone until it has root avab. On the note of the Nexus phone no SD Card Slot... Major drawback right there.

Yea not a deal breaker but I don't see me owning a Nexus because of no SD Card Slot. I don't want to carry around an otg device just to have more space. I have an LG G3 and a LG G4. I will get the V10 if it gets root if not the G3 and G4 are just fine.

unfortunately theres no way to root H831 as of now due to locked bootloader.
Apparently I have been able to root my H831...
I recently had my 4 month old LG 5 overheat and quit working. I returned it to the Cell phone provider (FreedomvMobile) who sent it to Futuretel in Ontario as the authorized repair centre in Canada.
They have informed me that I have rooted the phone and therefore it is not covered under warranty. I did not know what rooting was until I googled it. I have not rooted the phone. They are refusing to fix the phone. They say that the test of the phone is conclusive and that it was rooted. It was not. Does anyone have any idea if there are other causes that would make the technician at Futuretel think that it was rooted? I need some information before I go even further with this ridiculous response from Futuretel. Help!

The tech is scamming you. Been there done that. Send a message to LG global through Facebook. It will get replaced. They do not want a bad rep.
Petition
Sign the petition and spread the word guys, we are really close! change.org/p/lg-electronics-unlock-lg-g5-bootloader-for-all-varients
I just signed
Any word on Canadian bootloader yet?
Well, I went and signed for all it is worth. I still have a G5 in my collection and I would love to get it onto Lineage and let my son use it.
Really would like to root my phone as well :/
Still no news on rooting h831??
That is a good question. There was finally an update to Android 8.0 for our devices but I wonder if it made it so they can be unlocked and whatnot...
I don't want to be negative, but I guess in the end we will have to sell this device and buy another one, just to have an unlocked bootloader and root

Well, I and my wife upgraded to Galaxy S9s this spring due to a seriously unbeatable deal. Had the G5 supported the AWS bands used by the new carrier we switched to, she would still have been using it but alas, nope.
We still have her LG G5 and my son uses it as an ipod of sorts. I would love to root the thing just so newer OS' can be installed on it as it will never be a phone again so I don't need to worry about things like tap to pay and such. I guess it getting to Android 8 will have to do.
Yeah, I would love to root if possible too but I understand that our device is not popular enough just as H850 is or H830.
Would be trying to sell this device and buy another one then...

Ya, see, there is one general complaint that fits this... I hate that there are so many damned models of each of the main model names... As in there is never really JUST an LG G5 or JUST a Galaxy S9.
If you look HARD enough there is a way to ROOT a H831. You have to use Marshmallow 6.0 and follow a small tutorial that you will find if you look HARD. I am not sure if you can roll back to v6.0 so you can force root but hey all you have to do is LOOK!

Can you provide a link? I've searched for months w/ no success.
You can't downgrade from Oreo to Marshmallow so no root
