How to increase speakers volume of Mi5 - Xiaomi Mi 5 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi guys,
I'm on Xiaomi.eu Stable 7.2.13.0 rom and it is a pretty stable and good rom. The only problem with it for me is the low speakers volume.
Checked some guides around and found a solution that "fixed" that issue for me at least. The sound is way more loud while still clear.
Credits to those guys - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUBkAun9SaM, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihpeowj73XI
Steps -
1. Must be rooted
2. Download ES File Explorer
3. Open app
4. On the left side tap Root Explorer
5. Press Mount R/W
6. On /system change the blue circle to RW and press OK
7. Tap Homepage and choose device
8. Press etc
9. Find and press mixed_paths.xml
10. When asked choose ES Note editor
11. Scroll down until you find Path Name - "Speaker" (was close to the end for me)
12. Tap the Pencil button
13. Change "RX7 and 8 Digital Volume" value = " to 95 (should be 84 by default)
14. Press back and when asked choose YES (to save)
15. Go back to root explorer, press Mount R/W and change /system back to RO
16. Reboot
17. You should have louder speaker now
You can change it back to default later if you want....
Tested on the rom i stated, no problems for me

Dude you're the best.

awesome work, thanks in advance!

Ty bro.
What are the strings to increase incall voice volume?

Nice find dude. Thumbs up.
I wonder if theres a wsy to make the recent menu scroll vertically like stock android, hmm. Xposed perhaps...

Hi,
Thanks for sharing.
Does it increases the earphones volume ?

any ideas how to make phone speaker(for calls) louder?
what strings to edit?

hello everybody ,
does anyone know how to increase speaker volume in miui 8 6.9.8 as it has mixer_paths.xml and mixer_paths_tasha.xml, which are completely different from 7.2.13 rom
i would appreciate any help
thank you

I've tried this guide on my Mi5 (Xiaomi.eu Weekly 6.10.13 rom) - But no changes of sound in the internal speaker.
Could somebody confirm this guide works in MIUI8 and mentioned ROMs?
Thanks in advance

For me is the only change that left to do to make it perfect, sincerely factory sounds a little low
please help to get

I hope someone would make a similar solution for MIUI 8

I'm not sure if you tried it, but from my experience it didn't work for me on MUI 8.

I did and it works. This base volume management is governed by the base Android version, which should be identical over the same major versions (could be compatible with other major versions, too. But no guarantee). MIUI 7 & 8 for Mi 5 only differs in patch (6.0 vs 6.0.1), so for this one they're the same.

I only find the file mixer_paths_tasha.xml and making the settings of post 1, it does not work

Hi guys. Someone have found a way to increase volume on MIUI v8? Thx

i followed another solution in this forum, you have to overwrite the mix_patch files from the china rom to our global rom. This is the link

I don't know all the differences but it is not same as the Nitin's miui; it includes something from Hpa and it includes volume plus.
I can't read Korean so i can't understand all the differences.

Yes,also the translation is perfect.

KR to EN
I got this info from the another thread here, but cannot remember which one.
I'm guessing here but you could try US and us.
I have know idea if it will work.

Be sure,it will work.I tried these settings many times.
Seems to work fine. A few cool apps have been added. Overall looks nice.
English Language
This Rom already have EN language, Setting > System > Input and Language, certainly by Korean language in the firstboot. I don't know Korean but I remember position of setting button when I set up my DS.
This Rom's slower than the first 2.2.40 MIUI rom and non support Unicode font
I am running this since last night and extended MIUI settings app works. Battery life is perhaps the best I have seen on any of the MIUI versions I have used on my Streak so far....

Nice rom
Well, a short review after clean install of this ROM
FIXED/ENHANCEMENTS:
1) wifi issues
2) app drawer works
3) clear voice however loudness bug still exists
4) superSU instead of SU
5) Keyboard skin and customization
Bugs/broken:
1) DND mode force closes
2) Music player lyrics
3) LED notification still buggy
4) app drawer can't be enabled on boot
5) xiaomi passport backup still doesn't work
6) localization issues, not many languages supported
7) battery life seems to be better but may show different result after calibration
End result: uninstalled after 6 hrs of use, reverting to fake CM9

[Audio Mod] Increase Volume for CM10.1 - N7100

Hey xda Community,
this is my first thread, i hope i dont do anything wrong :fingers-crossed:
So i just flashed CM 10.1 yesterday and its awesome and so on but for myself the Sound on Headphones was kinda low. So i tried to increase it by Default_gain.conf aaaaaaaand i realised, cyna dont have this conf file.
After some Research i found this way which i will show you below to increase the volume on Galaxy Note 2 :
What you need :
-----------------------------------------------------------
Root Explorer
Rooted Galaxy Note 2 with CM10.1 ( I dont know if this works for CM10.2 but i think it will) ->>Doesnt work in 10.2
thats it
-----------------------------------------------------------
1. Open Root Explorer
2. Go to System -> etc -> Sound
3. There should be a config file named "t03g"
4. Open it with any text Editor ( you have to Change a Value so be sure you have permissions)
5. Scroll down to this section :
<device Name= "Headphone">
6. Change the Value from "50" to "57" "<ctl Name="Headphone Volume" val=57"/> (attached you will find a screenshot )
7. Restart your phone!
This makes your Galaxy Note 2 louder on cynagogenmod Well for me it did.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Final words :
I dont really understand how this val works I frist tried "val" 70 and the Sound was significant quieter than val "50". So i tried "val30" and it was louder than "val 70"
Then i just tried values between "50-60". "59" was to loud for me and "57" was perfect
If someone know why this works like that, Explanation is much appreciated
aaaaaaaaaand last but not least : sorry for my bad english, im just more than 24 hrs awake. Please dont grammar nazi me
oh i almost forgot : Be careful with this, im not responsible for your Actions!

It is not working on CM 10.2.. Moreover after editing the file the sound is completely gone like there is no pyhsical speaker. Even though I edit the value back to 50 still there is no sound. The only way to bring sound back is to flash the CM 10.2 ROM and Gapps again.. Do you know why?

[SOUNDMOD][SurroundSound][XSP]UPDATE V1.2 11-11

Hi all, I have modded the Xperia SP snd_soc_msm_2x file so that it will use earpiece aswell as loudspeaker while playing music, watching youtube etc.
I found this on monivan's stereomod thread for the xperia Z (which i have) and I find it so cool that I wanted this on my sister's XSP so now I'm sharing here with you!
Also, want to make clear that @monivan did make the initial test file for XSP.
Without him i probably didn't make this for you guys!
First of all, PLEASE DO A BACKUP OF YOUR CURRENT FILE BEFORE PROCEEDING!!
It is located in /system/etc/snd_soc_msm/snd_soc_msm_2x
DISCLAIMER:
Everything you do is your choice, if you missing any important call or getting fired because of alarm didn't work, you busting your earpiece or thermonuclear war starts off and you point your finger at me, I will laugh at you.

REQUIREMENTS :
-Rooted phone with busybox installed
-Stock rom (may also work on AOSP/CM, don't know try it yourself and let know here)
NOTE: THESE ARE NOT FLASHABLE ZIP FILES!
How to install:
1. Download SurroundSound-xx-xx.zip file.
(links available in download section)
(if not available request desktop version)
2. Move your stock/current snd_soc_msm_2x from /system/etc/snd_soc_msm to any location on your sd card.
3. Unzip the zip file you just downloaded and copy to /system/etc/snd_soc_msm
4. And set correct permission rw-r-r a.k.a. 0644
Like this:
XX0
X00
X00
5. Reboot
6. Turn down your volume before using and increase slowly to test safely.
I tuned volume values so that sound is not distorting at all kind of genres, with any music player at full volume with no equaliser settings active.
But please be careful using this!!
To test if it works see: Left/Right Stereo Audio/Visual Test.: http://youtu.be/dvqbq_0jZ_U
Have fun!
V 1.1
-Added a low frequency filter to prevent distortion
-little lower volume, especially with Xloud off

Ok I reuploaded the file just to be sure.
About loudspeaker: there is not supposed to be changes in that, this mod links the earpiece to loudspeaker to play together.
You can test this by putting your finger on the back speaker to cap it off while playing music, or see this: Left/Right Stereo Audio/Visual Test.: http://youtu.be/dvqbq_0jZ_U
About your headphones: I have changed nothing to that, only to speaker and earpiece.
You can try replacing your original file and disable v4a, test, then replace it with this mod and test again

I've tested on both aosp and stock rom, are you sure your speaker is damaged?
Did you have any other audio modification installed? Any equalizer settings?
Maybe you can try to reset those or flash another rom and try this again. To make sure

This modification definitely fix the low mic issue on call without affect anyone else.

1. I'm sure this is harmless, yet, asking for backup isn't unheard of here. I'd rather ask before trying to see if this has been vetted by others. Not clubbing baby seals by asking.
2. People click "thank you" all the time. Look I even clicked it for you.
Don't worries, the zip create a backup of your build.prop before change and add new line on it. But you are right, 200 download and nothing people say it's good or not ! But i think, no news.... Good news !
Good Morning. I could not even test the impact , but the OPO remains functional in any case. The changes in the build.prop set the OPO not in the bootloop .

I get it but I mean research the zip and see what it's doing then try it. We flash roms to our phones from people we do not know everyday. Oh well I hope you tried it and it helped you out. No seals were harmed in this post.
Take it easy
This fix (the first version) did NOT work for me. I'm running on the latest nightlies of CM12 on my OPO. Is it worth trying v0.1? Also, for those worried about anything going wrong you can easily just flash the latest nightly directly or via CyanDelta and all the changes will go away.
+yamsta have you see in the build.prop if new lines are here ?
Wouldn't it be easier just to provide the required changes as well? I do not like flashing ZIPs without exactly knowing what is going to be changed.

for more reliability, it's easier for the user to flash a zip than manually edit a file and less dangerous.
For more simplicity, add the zip to Cyandelta additional zip automated the process after all new nightly

Maybe so, but for more clarity, it's always better for someone who puts up a fix to state exactly what the fix is doing, so users can evaluate whether they want to try it or not. Please list out the changes that your patch makes, and how it tries to fix the issue. Thanks.

Your headphones could be much better than you thought!
It makes my QuadBeat 2 headphones soundbetter than $50 Sennheiser ones. And you can use it with those headphones as well! (tested!)
This is a combination of eXtremeBeats audio mod with my own Viper4Android profiles. It is very versatile, and it works with all headphones & ROMs.
The biggest difference is in the bass, you will be amazed, I can promise you that!
What do you need?
A brain.
Root & Recovery.
50MB of system space are required.
A full system backup!
Viper4Android app (you can download it here).
SELinux set to permissive. (via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524485, google for help)
Any headphones.
What do I have to download? Do you have...
Android 6.0 Marshmallow? Do you encounter any compatibility issues (eg. Maxx audio force closing)? Download version 4.1 Muses of eXtremebeats.
Lollipop? Kitkat? LG Stock? AOSP? Anything but android M 6.0? Download version 5.0 Apollo (or higher) of eXtremeBeats.
eXtremebeats download here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2634729
Download latest apk of Viper4Android FX here: http://vipersaudio.com/blog/?page_id=48
Official thread and credits: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
My Viper profiles will be in the attachment below!
How do I install this?
After downloading and placing all the files to your internal storage, do this:
If you have Android 5.0/5.1 then go to developer options and make sure you disable the Nu Player and use Awesomeplayer instead.
Install the correct version of eXtremeBeats zip via the recovery.
Extract the ViPER4Android folder from my zip to your internal storage.
Install Viper4Android app (if you don't have it already), open it, and select Super Audio Quality driver, then reboot.
Open Viper4Android - press the menu button - UI Setting - Expert.
How do I use this?
Connect your headphones - open Viper4Android - press the menu button - Load Effect Profile - and load a profile of your choice!
Which profiles should I use?
If you are on LG based ROM (stock LP, KK) then use LG ROM Bass profile.
If you are using AOSP, use AOSP Bass or AOSP Rock profile.
If you want to create a new profile, then use Basic Template as a template - it has an equalizer made for QuadBeat2 headphones.
If you're using different headphones, then try these profiles first, and customize them to your taste. It will work without any problems.
Do not be afraid to experiment with Viper, try all the settings, change them, combine them, create new profiles and most of all, don't forget to press thanks!
Note: I did not create the eXtremeBeats mod, but I felt like I have to share my combination with you, because the music sounds amazing, no matter the ROM (stock/AOSP).
Wow! My headset sounds great! Thanks op well done! :good:

All 3 folders should be extraced to the ViPER4Android folder in the sdcard folder (meaning the DDC, Kernel and Profile folder is inside ViPER4Android folder).
Did you grant Viper root permissions? Did you reboot after isntalling the driver? Is your SELinux set to permissive? If so, then try to google for help.

Well, then try Google, because I have no idea what went wrong. It is a problem with Viper.

What do you mean no alternative? It does work for 4.4.2, just use the 5.0 version, as mentioned.

Try setting the UI settings to Expert in the Viper menu, and lower the bass boost a bit.
Or, if you like it that way, try playing with the settings a bit.
Please try to share it with more people, as I feel it does not get as much views as it deserves.

Just load up basic template profile (with the equalizer only) and try setting things up by yourself! Set the UI settings (in the Viper menu) to Expert, and try changing the Convolvers

Thanks for replying bud.. I live in India .. It is 5 AM here .. I think i am gonna my office today lol. i am new thats why i was asking for cooked meal. but i think i am on my own in this business :silly: will figure out soon how things work.
Just tried this mod and i'm not sure I did things correctly and just want to make sure of a few things.
1.) I am using a 5.1.1 rom so I installed extremebeats 5.0. Is that correct?
2.) I see that there were 4 apks installed into my system\app folder, but not in a specific app folder like other system apps. Also, those apps don't show up in my apps list. Is this all normal? Am I supposed to have access to those apps for any reason?
Thanks for any help....

You cant install V4A on 5.1.1 . Perform a full backup if you are going to try. You can flash Extremebeats too but as i said before run a full backup in recovery to secure your device and avoiding bootloops . Before all these check if your SELinux is set to permissive .

I believe the problem is somewhere else, because I use BlissPop based on CM 12.1 (Android 5.1.1) and I am using Viper.
So, you can install Viper on Android 5.1.1.
