Problem to install Official Marshmallow HTC M8 AT&T - AT&T HTC One (M8)

Hello!
My device HTC One M8 AT&T, received an update of Marshmallow 6.0 before it has been released for AT&T.
I was with Lollipop and when I accepted to install the update, it begin to install, then failed.
So, I downloaded DEVELOPER Edition of Marshmallow 6.0 and Installed on my device through RUU file and accepted it successfully.
Now, Marshmallow for AT&T is available and I want to install official version on my smartphone.
I cant install it through RUU file, because software has been modified.
*My device is not ROOTed.
I have changed CID to CW__001
MID is: 0PB10000, need to change to 0PB12000 (as I have seen, to change MID, I need to root my device)

I believe they are both 6.0.1 based. But as mentioned, the AT&T RUU has a ton of useless bloat, plus breaks things like WiFi hotspot (tethering), so I really don't recommend the AT&T RUU.

What would you recommend me ?
I live in Europe but my device is at&t. It is better to install European or Developer version?

I can't know that, without knowing what bands your carrier uses for 3G and LTE. The Euro and Dev versions are essentially the same, except for the specific bands supported in the firmware.
If 3G and LTE and working fine on your carrier on the stock AT&T ROM and firmware, the same should be the case on the Dev Edition. They are designed to have the same bands supported.
However, if you want to "convert" to Euro to change the band support, then you can do so by running the Euro RUU here.

Marshmallow for ATT ONE M8
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'm trying to update my ATT HTC ONE running on T-Mobile service to marshmallow, and every time I connect to my PC and try to install the update I downloaded from HTC's site, it starts but always says error unable to update. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can only guess you are trying to run the AT&T version RUU 6.20.502.5? You don't specify, nor do you state the specific error number, or error message (which would also be helpful in order for me to assist you).
If you are in fact trying to run AT&T RUU on the AT&T version device, you should see the red text regarding the Marshmallow RUU, under the RUUs section of my Index thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2751432

I called HTC tech support, and figured out I had downloaded the wrong RUU lol. I didn't know there was a different one for each carrier's version. Now as soon as I replace the charging port (for the second time, grrr) I think it will work. (anyone else have the same problem with charging ports going out on this device, and know why?)

If you bothered reading my last post (and the thread it linked to) the update to Marshmallow RUU will not work unless you first flash MM firmware posted.

Hi guy's, Wondering if anyone can help me. I have and AT&T HTC One M8 that's on Lollipop 5.0 & Sense 6.0 I have Unlocked the bootloader and Rooted it. I am using this phone with Cricket "Does that mean phone is Unlocked" ?
I cannot update to Marshmallow , as phone keeps telling me their is no update as of today? I think that is Happening because i am using phone on cricket service and not AT&T ?
Anyways I would like to Be able to install Marshmallow 6.0 with Sense 7.0. Can i install an RUU or a Dev Rom "Preferable" and be able to tether?
Just for the record i have an original M8 Developer Edition, but Volume Down doesn't work and Power button has sunk in after replacing charging port Would i be able to Make an Image of My Developer Edition if i Root it ? If downloading a Developer Edtion Rom with less bloated software is possible I would rather go that route.
Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

[Q] help with samsung gio

Hi,
Somebody knows if is possible do a hardreset on Samsung Gio (have software unlock) without lose the unlock ?
The cellphone have Android 2.2
From the data I've gathered so far, the answer to this depends on your CSC customer.xml files.
If the files contain network lock codes, expect the phone to relock itself if there is no SIM in the phone at the time of the reset. It doesn't if it contains a "foreign" SIM that does not match the MNC in the customer.xml file. (I haven't tested with the "locked carrier" SIM to see if it did or not.)
Another thing to note is that the unlock code remains unchanged.
Goodbye,
Darkshado
Hi @Darkshado, thanks for your reply.
I buy this cellphone on ebay.
I only know the cellphone are unlocked via software.
Well... OK... If I do a hardreset... and the phone lose the unlock after this, and I not have the SIM of the original carrier...
Can I upgrade the cellphone to android 2.3.x and do a unlock again (exists unlock for this cellphone via software) ?
I very noob on android :S
Thanks.
It is quite possible the phone will remain unlocked after the factory reset.
You don't need, nor care about the original carrier's SIM.
Don't let the seller con you into paying a premium for the unlock on this phone model, as you can do it for free using information found here. Do not use the stl5 method as there is risk of bricking, bml5 is safe.
Next time, use the search engine right...

Hi, sorry... I'm ask because exists some things about Android world and I dont know this things
I have iPhone 3G during 1 year... and this is my first android...
Well... the principal reason to do this hard reset is because maybe the cellphone have a suspected app or spyware app... and... for security reasons... I want to do a hard reset... or maybe you can recommend me a other solution...
I see too is possible to upgrade the phone via Kies software (of Samsung)... this is true... the seller is from canada... but.. I'm from Peru... the carriers are diferent... you recommend me to upgrade the cellphone to android 2.3.x ?
Thanks.
Huge red flag here!
I live in Canada, and there are NO Galaxy Gio GT-S5660M that were released with Android 2.2. None, zero.
All the Bell Canada/Virgin Mobile Canada Gios are sold with Gingerbread 2.3.4. The model number is also different from the Europe/Asia version, notice the M added, the radio bands aren't the same either. (The 5660M would indeed be compatible with Claro in HSPA. The Euro 5660, not, only 2G GSM.)
The 5660M ROM does not have Spanish as a language option either. Only English, French and Korean (left over by Samsung for some reason...).
There is a 5660L some Latin-American users have mentioned. I'm not sure of the exact countries this is available in though. This would have proper radio bands and a Spanish ROM. It should be unlockable with the same bml5 method explained elsewhere on this forum.
If you think the seller is really in Canada and trying to scam you, contact the Royal Canadian Mounted Police here (or just google for RCMP internet scams):
http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/scams-fraudes/rep-sig-eng.htm
Last but not least, if the phone really had malware installed, a factory reset would not be enough to clear it, as the malware would likely reside in /system, which isn't wiped clean on a reset. You'd need to reflash the phone with a trusted safe firmware.
So, again, caveat emptor, and good luck.
Darkshado
P.S. Feel free to PM me the ebay link if you want me to look at it.
Hi... I send you a P.M.
Tell me... How I can now the exact model of the cellphone ? I only see in ebay the name of cellphone like "Samsung Galaxy S5660 Gio"
Thanks.
Hi again friend...
I talked with seller... and he tell me the phone is:
GT-5660 and confirm me the languages available are spanish and french... and have android 2.2
Then.... is possible to install spanish language ?
At this point, you'd have to ask the seller more questions.
I took a look at the eBay link you sent me, doesn't look as bad as I thought at first, but you still need to do your homework.
You said the seller was located in Canada, and at first I thought it was an individual trying to resell a single, used Galaxy Gio. It isn't the case, since this is an eBay store setup.
The first thing I'd be interested in if I wanted to buy a phone anywhere online, is to make sure that the radio bands are correct for the networks I want to use.
Not just GSM (most newer phones are quad-band 2G GSM) but especially 3G UMTS (HSPA). The frequencies used by competing carriers in a single country may even be different. Some carriers may have only 3G UMTS and no 2G GSM whatsoever.
The ad does not say what frequencies the phones are supposed to work on. Not something I'd expect from a competent, knowledgeable seller.
Have the seller take a clear, legible photograph of the sticker underneath the battery and show us that (with the IMEI blurred preferably). Also of interest would be the information in "About phone" listing: Phone model, Android version, Baseband, Kernel version, Build number.
With that information you'll be in a better position to decide if you still want to buy.
Or you could just get it from another seller, as there are a number of others offering both the Euro 5660 or American 5660M/5660L (they usually write just 5660 but state that its the North American version).
If it's not included, you should be able to get a ROM with Spanish working, either by using an Euro ROM on the 5660M (possible if you do it right) or if someone takes the time to upload the 5660L stock ROM.
I've said about all I could in this thread. Use the search engine, a lot, and feel free to ask more questions after you've exhausted that option.
A la proxima,
Darkshado
P.S. Yo hablo espanol un poquito: sufficiamente para no morir de hambre o de sed!
@Darkshado, thanks for your help.
I go to recover more information about this...
Thanks again
Hi... currently... I have Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-5660M in my hands now
The cellphone are very fast... I'm happy.
But now... I installed some applications (like a child with new toy ) and now I have problems with battery duration...
I want to do a hardreset... but... I need know if you recommend me this option.
I have this information about the cellphone:
*#1234#
PDA:S5660MUGKG3
PHONE:S5660MUGKG3
CSC:S5660MBMCKG3
In "About phone"
IMEI: 3XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Model Number: GT-S5660M
Android Version: 2.3.4
Baseband Version: S5660MUGKG3
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-perf-CL413839 [email protected] #1
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.MUGKG3
And I see is from Bell Canada company (the carrier)... but... is unlocked... and I can use normally with my country carrier (Movistar Perú)
Thanks
Big problem... After hard reset I lost the unlock... And I can't root the cellphone

[Q] Debrand Telus RM-819?

Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to debrand a Telus RM-819 Cyan. I have searched but not really found anything about this particular model. My father has a unbranded USA RM-819 cyan which was won at a Microsoft conference, so If it is possible to "extract" the firmware and put it on mine, I suppose I could do that.
Thanks,
Jared

Hi,
No you can't "extract" the firmware and put it on your phone. (not for now anyway)
But the good news is you can debrand your phone to any variant you want (or like to your father one).
What you need is:
1. Navifirm+ - an app to download the debrand fw
2. Nokia Care Suite - an app to flash/load the fw into phone
3. Install & run "Nokia Care Suite" & follow the prompt and flash your phone
I have flash many many Lumia 800 with using this.
BUT PLEASE BACKUP !! BEFORE DO ANYTHING AS I CANNOT HOLD FOR ANY DAMAGED.
Let me know if you have trouble.
and Wish You Luck !!
Thank you for getting back to me
Can you tell me if this is the firmware I would want,
RM-819_NAM-US_CV_VAR191249_CYAN_V1 (059M190)
It is is listed on .11501. That appears to be the unbranded USA version?

That's completely normal... You have to enter your SIM-card PIN code You need to do this every time you start a phone which uses SIM cards.
I see, well I bought the phone second hand so I was not given the code. I purchased an unlock code for $20 and it fixed the problem. Thanks for your help.

Couldn't you just swap the SIM card? I don't know if it doesn't work that way, but over here your phone number actually is linked to your SIM card. This means I would swap the SIM card anyway when I get the phone, and I'd get the code.
Telus apparently SIM locked this phone so only their SIM cards would work with it. I am in the US using it in Straight Talk (prepaid mvno), so I can't really swap out the SIM card as far as I Know.
one question ,is it possible that an unlocked lumia 800 was relocked after the debranding ?
because that just happenned to me. after installing an Australian firmware on the Telus Lumia, upon restart it said Sim Locked. good thing i still had the email when i purchased the unlock code and the same code worked again, but i dont get why changing firmware would relock the phone.

I guess that the phone, when bought officially unlocked is factory unlocked. Unlocking with a code obviously write something on the phone. That might be erased when doing a (full) flash of the phone. It does not seems to happens when using the zune or WP7-Update-Cab-Sender way (upgrading).

In theory the answer is No as this model should not be relock by after FW reflash/debrand.
Which Aus FW did you use & SW you flashed with?
You sure it said "Sim Locked" not something else?

I don't think it's possible. It's impossible to SIM UNlock it with flashing another ROM, because SIM lock is written on a special place in memory that shouldn't get flashed. So the other way round seems very strange to me...

I purchased the unlock code from http://www.mobileincanada.com/. It took about 2 hours to get. I should note that the previous owner of my phone (Telus RM-819) had it unlocked previously but that apparently gets cleared out when you reflash a firmware.

Unlocked AT&T HTC Titan Radio V17and T-Mobile Sim Cards

Here lately, I've been trying to upgrade the custom rom on my HTC Titan thats been unlocked for use with T-Mobile. However, when I decided to upgrade, I realized all of the newer roms are of course using the newest radio (v17) which absolutely refuses to see my T-mobile sim card. My girlfriend has AT&T and the second I throw her sim card into the phone (with the version 17 radio) it accepts the network and everything works as usual so I know its got to be the sim card. All of the custom wp7.8 roms with the version 16 radio have broken links and are out dated so I'm hoping to find a fix for this. Or at least find someone else who knows of the issue. Hopefully someone on here can find some kind of a solution.
Sir how did you flash the radio 17 to HTC AT&T Titan.
I m on radio 16 but when i flash radio 17 it shows message of successfully completion but nothing, i m still on radio 16
Titan stuck at v16 radio

That is a problem that a lot of AT&T Titans have. After having the issue that I do and researching it. I came across this page and found a solution for that and here it is.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26897016&postcount=121
However, I've also found that in my research that the v17 radio is a euro radio and doesn't work as well for people in the US on AT&T. So, I'd be cautious about upgrading.
Hopefully this helps!

Radio v 17 is not "Euro" It's just $hitty radio But not for all users. In some areas and regions it works w/o issues. For me - both radios are ok but v 16 definitely works better - faster signal detection and more stable data transfer. So after almost 10 months of using v17 I rolled back to v16.
P.S. Just for the record - my Titan also gets stuck on radio replacement - so every time I decide to change radio - I have to use goldcard....

The point is that radio version has no connection to WP7.0, 7.5 or 7.8. Radio is mutually dependent only on OEM version. So - if you wanna use 7.8 rom with radio 16 - you should find (or cook) rom with OEM v 2.05. If you are using radio v 17 - you should use OEM v 4.06 rom.
Anyway, links to both radio:

I understand all of this, my delima is that since I'm using T-mobile on an unlocked titan, the v17 radio wont see the tmobile sim card. And to top it off, all of the OEM 2.05 roms I've found have missing links or are no longer available. I was hoping that someone on here knew of a way to work around that issue, or possibly had a copy of an older 7.8 rom that they would be willing to toss my way. I'd love to be able to cook one but I'm not quite sure how.

You might want to reenter the subsidy (carrier) unlock code; but let be humble when I say I am not an expert at any of this other than the hours I spent reading these threads and downloading much of what is here to a partition on my HDD. I can't speak to a bad 17 radio; mine works as well as the 16 did and based on what I've read from the gurus here there are custom (HSPL) ROMs using radio 16. I didn't know that until tonight. I don't know what others' experiences are in regards to the stock Microsoft released WP7.8 but it available from a number of sources.

I have tried that. Unfortunately to no avail. The second I turn the phone on it says no signal. then just for a split second, I get 4g and then it says no sim or sim error.

Funny... If you still need radio 16 latest build 0409 rom - let me know in PM.... Otherwise - I won't cook it.
Thanks AndrewSh

The point is that radio version has no connection to WP7.0, 7.5 or 7.8. Radio is mutually dependent only on OEM version. So - if you wanna use 7.8 rom with radio 16 - you should find (or cook) rom with OEM v 2.05. If you are using radio v 17 - you should use OEM v 4.06 rom.
Anyway, links to both radio:

Thanks for this Information! I have searched a long time for it, cause I'm cooking two versions of HTC Titan ROM 7.8 - one with 17 and one with 16 Radio ROM. I believed that the Radio is depend on files in XIP or / and SLDR but not OEM.

I am still on version A2017GV1.0.0B01, System Update does not discover any OTA update. B02 is out, I would expect it to show up as an OTA update? Or will B03 the first OTA update?

I have the a2017u, but you can easly update to b02 with the update. Zip provided by ZTE download of these update is about 2.3gb ,don't have the link but look for it in this forums you'll find it
Here a2017g.b02

I have good contacts with ZTE so I'm here to help the European users. As I stated in the topic you should see this update next week. It will be OTA as well.
Great news. Nothing about the notification bell? Or is that the dynamic lockscreen you mentioned?

Thanks for sharing, appreciate it.
If you have good contacts with ZTE Europe, maybe you can answer this:
1. Why is there no EU community, like there is a US community forum?
2. Why was the B02 update not released as an OTA update?
Thanks for the update rikin93,
Do you know if the issues with the notification of the third party apps have been fixed?
I posted earlier that whatsapp doesnt show notification sounds, it shows ringtones instead.
Is there any way (without rooting) for ZTE to include the features like lock screen photos change and stock android theme for A2017G version?

If this comes true I will be pre-ordering. The not "unlockable bootloader" for the European model is the only thing holding me back. (I need LTE Band 20)
Keep in mind that device dispatching this days come out of the box with B02 software version so don't need to update to this version.
Just wait the newly B03 firmware update.
Here's a screenshot of owner of Axon 7 recently received in Germany.

If I buy a Chinese version in China, 4GB+128GB, I presume I wont get this OTA update when I'm back in the UK.
What should I do then? Will I have to root if I want to flash it with EU rom?

The Chinese version has its own set of updates that are posted on the Chinese ZTE forums. They're different from the European updates. Over OTA, you'll only get the Chinese updates. Additionally, the Chinese model has different bands than the European model, so be sure that it has the bands used by your carrier before you purchase one.
At the moment, the only way to flash another region's ROM is to unlock the bootloader, which there is no method of doing on either the Chinese or European models.

Thanks for the tips. I'm current on EE UK and I've just compared the supported bands. Looks like I'm still covered by 1800MHz(band 3) and 2600MHz(band 7) for 4G.
I guess the there are no major flaws in the Chinese version like what we saw among the EU version. So if I just install all the necessary GAPPS then it should be good to go right?
I've asked ZTE for another update but I really doubt the 4GB+128GB version would be on the offer in EU market any time soon.
The notification bell is a UI feature of ZTEs software. I have no news about this and I doubt they will remove it atleast until the nougat release.
Regarding the bootloader, they are discussing this for the EU like I mentioned the EU and US laws are different when it comes to affecting warranty. Legally in the EU they cannot void warranty regardless of bootloader unlock. They will get back to me as soon as it has been discussed and I will reply to you.
B02 wasn't released over OTA as it wasn't a bug fix release.
USA seem to have more support as they were intended to hit the market first and the official public release hasn't happened yet in the EU. It will come soon.
Also I highly suggest you wait for the B03 release as it will fix all/most bugs and make this a phone worth getting. In my honest opinion even without the bootloader unlock I would get this over the OP3 but let's hope we see an unlock too. They have told me they don't want to discriminate against the USA and let's hope they keep their word.

If they are smart, they will make it optional, at least. That's all we need.
can someone test camera in night with that update? with auto and manual?

Well it's quite a bad UI feature since it hinders music controls and nearly every reviewer thinks it's annoying, and should at least be optional. I must admit I was almost certain that they would make it optional very fast. I really hope they still will.

The European version has LTE Band 20. The list (according to the Amazon listing) is: B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/19/20/28AB

I know but it's still unclear if the European version will ever receive an unlockable bootloader.

Can I Flash Z5C SO-02H with E5823 Stock ROM?

Hey guys, first of all , sorry for my bad english.
I Have a Sony Z5 Compact Japanese version (SO-02H) with Nougat 7.0 operating system
I wonder if i could flash this version with the global E5823 firmware. Is it possible?
And if i could successfully flash the firmware, what will go wrong?
really need your help..
Thanks for your concern
I haven't had much experience with the Z5 Compact, but in the past I've flashed the Japanese Z1 Compact (SO-02F) with firmwares from other regions and it worked just fine. I never got NFC working but I'm not sure if that was a firmware issues or just a problem with that phone in general.

Me too, I bought it yesterday, because in Indonesia the price is so affordable (only Rp 750.000 = USD 51,85 ). I just update it to Nougat, but wondering if I can flash it to Global rom. I have checked several source in here, but most of 'em said error.

Yes I also tried flashing an E5823 UK Generic firmware but unfortunately, it always gets stuck on .sin errors. We'll just have to live with Japanese bloatwares I guess

Out of curiosity, what were the errors? Was it from newflasher at the beginning when checking that the device matched? Or was it actually during flashing one of the .sin files?
The former is possible to work around - I've seen the same thing when trying to flash E5823 <-> E5803 firmwares. The latter I'm not certain about...

Anyone know how you can unlock the bootloader and root this SO-02H?
Can you help me please?
Thank you all
I bought my Xperia Z5 Compact last year. It's one of those for which NFC cannot be turned on. It had come with an outdated E5823 firmware. After testing some custom ROMs, I ended up updating it to a stock E5823 Nougat ROM (obviously rooted through the stable Magisk v20.4). Nevertheless, after checking my Xperia account, I've found out that its IMEI number actually belongs to a SO-02H model. So, go figure!

If your bootloader is unlocked, download the stable Magisk v20.4 zip file and install it through a custom recovery (usually TWRP), either directly or via adb sideload.

Dial *#*#7378423#*#* and check under configuration if bootloader unlock allowed=yes. You can switch the firmware from Docomo to a 5823 (or 5803) variant. You need to edit an .xml file to do so prior to bundling the .ftf while xperifirm is still open after downloading it.

@gayungan
Yes, you can still change your firmware with an official generic rom from other regions (ie 5823 or 5803). You may loose functionality of NFC, but that's about it; your IMEI will not be touched (nor will your radio bands) , it will also not change your bootloader lock status.
