[Q] WiFi tether without data plan? - AT&T LG G5 Questions & Answers

Anybody know of an app or method to tether of of your cell phones mobile data? I've tried PdaNet+ (FoxFi) and it said i need to activate a AT&T tether plan. Can anybody confirm a working tether app?

Nobody has. Nothing will work until root is achieved.

only got bluetooth tethering to work, which is okay but slow data rates.

[Q] Wireless tethering

How do you guys do wireless tether with this phone? Whenever I try to use the Wireless Tether app, it creates an ad hoc network that I can't get my laptop to connect to. When my friend uses the same app with his evo, I have no problems connecting to it. Something about it having an infrastructure mode?
So, my question is, what do you guys use/do to successfully wirelessly tether to this phone?
Barnacle wifi tether if you insist on wifi tethering; or you could use Easy Tether for wired, but i believe it needs to be sideloaded
On a related note (sorry, don't mean to hijack), does the stock OTA 2.2 have the same tether tracking as the leaked version from earlier this year? I really don't want to pay the extra fee for something I'll use less than once a month.

[Q] Is there a way to access internet on my phone while tethering?

I have currently gone over my broadband limit with my ISP, so I am using wifi tethering on my SGS3 to access the internet as I have a truly unlimited data plan. However I noticed that I cannot use the internet connection on my phone while I am tethering, I have always been able to do this with previous phones, is there a way it can be done with SGS3?
It does work for me and there is no reason why it shouldn't.
Are sure sure your data network is not just overloaded or flaky?
Well it's not a network restriction because I used the exact same sim in my DHD yesterday to tether and I could access the connection on my phone too
works for me too.

Tethering

Can we get some tethering support going on here?
I think The Base has it, but my phone refuses to boot that ROM for some reason.

I had problems with unauthorized tethering on my iPhone (used to get the warning messages to cease or they would switch my grandfathered in "unlimited" data plan). then I just used pdanet and set it to hide the tether and had no problems.
now with android I've got pdanet again which uses foxfi for the wifi tether. foxfi hides the tether with an addon that also requires you to setup a proxy connection (your android) on your computer.

WiFi Tether not working
I have used the wifi tether for some time on my rooted devices. With the last update that pushed out by Verizon, I am now getting the message "your carrier has blocked wifi tethering with version 4.1". Does someone have a work around they can share?

[Q] As of yesterday Foxfi has been Blocked on my MetroPCS phone

As of yesterday Foxfi (wifi hotspot) has been blocked on my MetroPCS phone. My guess is that it has to do with Metropcs' T-mobile merger. Foxfi is on, updated, but my wifi hotspot is not being broadcast. I went to update Foxfi via the Google Play store and saw something to the effect of "if you have t-mobile use usb connection). So the app does NOT work with Metropcs/Tmobile now.
Is there a hack for this? My phone is already rooted. I use my lg motion and pdanet+ as a usb tether for my laptop and also as a wifi hotspot with Foxfi for an Android Tablet.
?
Does anyone have have any advice?
