Security patch with TWRP - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone!
Yesterday I was prompted with an OTA update for my XT1097, a security patch, version 24.201.3.en.BR, and according to Motorola website this patch covers security patches by May 1.
Has anyone made that update compatible with TWRP, so I can flash it?
I would post links to Motorola website and to the zip, but I can't, need 10 posts.
Thanks.

But I need just the update.

That's not a thing. It's a system update or nothing.

I mean, I've read that you can adapt an update to work with TWRP, not necessarily the entire system, but just one update.

Problems updating stock 4.4.4 to 5.1

Hi there,
sorry for bothering you with my problem but I really cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. I am running a pure stock version of 4.4.4 on my international version of the moto E, with no root and no unlocked bootloader. I am willing to update to the latest 5.1 build but whitout unlocking the bootloader and stuff.
From what I understand the first step to do so in the easiest way possible would be to download the first 5.0.2 soak (22.21.32 341MB) update and put it into the main SD card. From then the phone should detect the update from the settings, but mine isn't.
I have already tried sideloading the update by going to the recovery and choosing update from adb. Also I have developer options enabled.
Thanks for your help.

Well, 1st of all let me tell you, that you are completely going the wrong way.... You DO NOT need to flash 5.0.2.... From what I know, factory images of XT1021 for official Android 5.1 lollipop are available...
Check this LINK
There are three versions, choose the appropriate one. Download it, and use mfastboot to flash the latest FW (Don't worry, because these are signed images and will work on devices with locked bootloader)
If u think that these are quite complicated, just hit the play store, make sure that Motorola Update Services app is updated.... and wait for the OTA.
If you are 100% sure that you have not unlocked the bootloader, then pm me, I will give the instructions to flash the fw.
Cheers

Thank you for your quick reply. My current firmware is "21.12.40.condor_reteu_reteuall.en.EU reteu" do you think I can safely flash the us retail version via mfastboot?

I am sorry, but I think I made a mistake
The official image is not available for your model at the moment. What u can try is wait for the update to be pushed.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

That's because there are usually two security patches, and they are usually dated the 1st and the 5th. One is a partial string and one is complete. You can read about the differences and why there are two on the Android security blog. In short, supported Google devices get the complete security patch level string dated the 5th.

Well yes and no. The build number is the same for both the full image and the OTA. If you received the update via OTA, then it is not the full image- it is a smaller incremental update package. If you want the full Google image you can find it here. There are instructions on that page on how to fastboot flash. If you want to flash this update without wiping your data, open up the flash-all.bat file with Notepad and remove the "-w" switch, save it and close. Make sure you are using the latest adb/fastboot binaries.

If you mean flashable with twrp, you can download and unpack the factory image, and flash the boot, system and vendor.img with twrp.
Dumb question time: Is there a zip of this patch that I can flash via TWRP that won't lose root? I'm on the stock ROM updated to the April security patch right now.
Sorry for the noob question, haven't rooted a phone since before Google started pushing monthly patches. Thanks in advance!

Do yourself a favor and Install Flashfire. Ignore OTAs. Download the latest full image from Google and use Flashfire to install. Select only the boot, system and vendor partitions. It will preserve your root and recovery. Once in a blue moon when there is a new bootloader and/or modem, you can flash those manually. This is a very safe, two minute update once a month. Note: Because you are flashing a new boot.img, you will naturally lose any custom kernel you had installed. Simply reflash it after the update if you had one. More info here.
Whoever downloaded this rom in full, could u please extract the recovery.img for me?

Since no one asked yet I'll ask. Lately Google will release two, one for Verizon and one for the rest. So far no image for Verizon, anyone try this on Verizon yet?

There was a short period where there were two different images.
I'm using stock 7.1.2 with the May security patch. No issues.

Thank you. Just curious, so if you're on 7.1.1 and have may security patch did you only flash the bootloader and radio only out of the image? I only ask because may is 7.1.2. Sorry for noob questions, this is the first phone I've ever had that has unlockable bootloader. I always had a Verizon galaxy phones that were locked down.

Got this update (January security patches) after manual update with Newflasher from 47.2.A.0.306 (which I forced via PC Companion beta software repair and couldn't get any OTA) to version 47.2.A.4.45
So if you come back to any "official" build you will be able to get official updates again

You should flash to the original android 8.0 then update to the normal android pie. So you will be updated via OTA as usual. Note: You must flash the FW to the original of the machine.

What changed in the QPMS30.80-109-2 update?

I used Lenovo rescue to update my G Power to the QPMS30.80-109-2 version (from QPMS30.80-51-5) and I was wondering what is different. I think it is strange that this update was not OTA. It is also still on the July security patch.
The update was released on August 31st 2020 according to a mirror

No, no crashes. I updated using the Lenovo rescue, removed the erase user data line from the XML file.
I never got the Ota update.
Retus G Power here. The OTA update is QPMS30.80-51-8 with the September 1, 2020 security patch. The LMSA downloads the QPMS30.80-109-2 version for some reason.

Ok so got the Google Fi version. It's a -4 model so no OTA update yet. Help?

Question Downgrade fw

Hi everyone.
My euro gdpr gt2 pro OTA updated to version .21 the other day but I'm now having connection issues. They all started after that update. Is there anyway to downgrade to .19?
You can use the A.14 package to downgrade, and then install the A.19 OTA:
[Global/EU] Collection of firmware files
Since a lot of people is asking for firmware files, OTAs, boot.img, I decided to collect all the resources here, so that it would be easier to get what you need. First of all, you have to identify your ROM version. It is not the scope of this...
forum.xda-developers.com
I am on A.21 and the WiFi keeps disconnecting randomly, it all started with the A.20 firmware for the MEA Region.

Worked a treat thank you... Phone is now working again. But wouldn't let me update manually update to 19 as it had found OTA .21 on its own.

Yes, you have to disable the Internet connection and clear data for the Software Update app to manually install an OTA file, otherwise it will find the latest version online.
Hi all,
I have updated to Android 13 (RMX3301_11.C.11_1110_202212121459)
Can I still use:

to downgrade to Android 12?
