Google on tap, activity or shortcuts - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I lost google on tap from the application KSetting (mate 8) to change the button long press Home, but I have no way to return to Google on tap, except to erase all data from mobile, in the application I can choose a shortcut, I wanted to know if there was any activity shortcuts to open google on tap.

Erasing the KSetting app data or uninstalling that app won't fix it...? Not familiar with the app as nothing comes up in a quick Google search for it.

Ksetting is a apps of Kingvip rom on mate 8, i can't uninsall this and when i delete data of apps, i have the same problem, with QuickShortcutMaker i try to find google on tap activity but nothing...

On Tap is part of the Google app. If you open it and go into the slide out Menu located on the top left for the Settings, you should see the option to enable it there.

[Q] Talkback toggle creation... Please help!

OK... I have got Tasker, I`m trying to make a shortcut to talkback, or accessibility that can be accessed from double pressing the home button.
I have tried xshortcut to try and use the capture feature on it, but I get a permissions error.
I could enter it in the intent field manually I suppose, but what would I have to type as an intent to get to talkback to either toggle on or off, or to get just the the talkback screen?
I have looked and looked. The closest I am getting is com.android.settings.Subsettings.
Yes I am a noob and yes I am out of my depth, but I am just trying to make a talkback toggle for my partially sighted wife.
Any flaming/suggestions welcome
EDIT: In an ideal world, the Home2 shortcut app would work, as you can select a shortcut in this app, so I would make an accessibility shortcut with Anycut, and use it with that, but SGS2 isn`t compatibile with Home2 shortcut, and advanced home button app cannot select shortcuts

any update on this?? Am also trying to figure out the same thing for galaxy s and an android tab..
Closest I have got is, because Home2 doesn`t work on TouchJizz, you install some kind of AOSP rom then it works faultlessly.
The closest shortcut you can make is getting to the accessibility page, this is does either through Nova launcher actions (which I thinik is similar to anycut) or use Anycut itself!
Talkback needs an update...
Same here. I emailed the developer of spiel and he says a direct shortcut can't be made as Google limits this!

[Q] Resetting what "People" uses to find images?

On ICS, the People app - I was looking at a contact and wanted to change the picture. By mistake I set the wrong app to open when i change the picture. How do I undo that?
I tried finding the people app int he apps list and clear settings, but it still uses the wrong app?
Go into Settings, then Applications, then Manage Applications, and find whatever app you set to use as default (the one you chose by accident). Tap it, and then on the screen that appears find the button "Clear defaults". Tap it. Then this app should no longer be the default for that task.

Wow that's insane. So instead of removing the setting for the app that USES it, you remove the assassination for ALL apps that use it? Good design there Google.
But thanks for your help!

How to remove Google Search Box from Home Screen

It may sound a little novice, but I tried to find the option, but couldn't find any.
Is there any ways to remove the "Google Search Box" on the home screen of OPX ?
Yeah. Disable the App called "google App" and you have a beautiful black screen.

Use another launcher?
Couldn't you just hold onto the bar and remove it? If not, another launcher like Nova Launcher would be able to do it.

No, unfortunately that doesn't work with the built-in bar, only ones you add yourself as widgets.
I've found an app file called base.apk in /data/app/ com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox-1 - could this be changed, renamed etc as a solution for this? I'm not game to try because I don't want to break anything.
I used Debloater to uninstall the Google Search App. Than its gone. If your device is not rooted you could just try to deactivate it. I am not sure if you can do it in the Apps section in the settings but Debloater does nearly the same without root. It just deactivates the selected Apps.
Be aware that if you deactivate the app "close all running apps" button will also disapear!
Hope that helps you out.
If you want to remove the google search bar and keep the Google Now Launcher and its possibilities I only know of the following solution :
- Root your phone
- Install Xposed framework
- Install Xposed GEL Settings which has an option to hide the search bar
If you don't want to keep the Google Now functionnalities then just go with another Launcher.

If you disable Google App, you can not use close all open apps X button. :crying:
New option in OOS 2.2.0, now you can remove search bar !
Tap on the home screen. You'll see three options i.e Wallpapers- Widgets- Settings. Go to settings. Scroll the screen down, You'll see to hide search bar, enable it, to hide search bar.
Enjoy:good:
Great news

Question How Replace Google Assistant instead of Bixby ?!!

Hi there
I have A52s 5g ( A528B )
Bixby is too slow in process of my Commands .
How Can I replace it with Google assistant ?,
When i install it ffom google play , it gives this error !
From Settings, search for and select Device assistance app. Tap Device assistance app again, and a list of available assistants will appear. Choose your desired option, and then tap OK.
Once done, head back to Settings and you'll see the search button, tap Bixby and disable everything related to. And you're good to go
Forgot to mention that the Google assistant app from the Google store is more of a shortcut. The actual app is embedded in the Google app

Weird message as Google Assistant is installed as default on this phone... ^^
Just need to do a long press on the the middle squared button (Home button) on the bottom of the display and it will popup !
You can then disable Bixby via settings or uninstall it via adb commands if you don't want it anymore.

Is there a way to spoof app version so it stop asking me to update ?

I cant use the app cause it asks me to update and if i dont it exits . I dont want to update . how to bypass the update pop up ?
I tried to clone the apk with newer version but the app freeze and doesnt start
Simply stop app's automatic update:
Step 1:
Open the Google Play Store on your Android phone.
Tap the Search Box at the top of the Play Store.
Enter the name of the app you are looking for and tap Search.
Step 2:
Tap on the app to open the listing.
Tap the three-dot overflow menu in the top right-hand corner.
Uncheck Enable auto update.
Once completed, that app will no longer automatically update, regardless of what your overall settings have been changed to.

Thanks for the reply .
The app is installed on my peloton bike , there is no google play store allowed
The app gives a message “update before using” and shuts down . There is not many options to try . I was thinking ti change the metadata so the app thinks it’s on a higher version so it passes the check
