It does support touch screen. That's how I choose it on my HP laptop. Your touch screen must not be supported yet. But I agree there should be an alternate option.

Thanks for reply...
But Are you sure? I didn't know that
I have to tablet PC and gurb2 boot menu not effective with touch screen

Since you are using windows. The windows boot manager supports touchscreen. I'm sure there info on creating entries for it to chainload grub2 from it

Yes it's with Windows 10 boot manager actually there is touch support but I really don't know how to used it instead of grub2

UEFI WBM can't load anything other than windows bootloader; so it can't chainload grub2. It does however see any /efi folder as a seperate UEFI [usb] device.

Yes. I use my touch screen on my laptop to choose either Windows or Remix.

If Windows was installed in BIOS mode, you get the Windows boot menu which is touch compatible, but if Windows was installed in UEFI mode, then the Windows boot menu can't be used to load non-Windows operating systems (thanks Microsoft) and so you get the non-touch grub boot menu. Annoying, I know, and it's the reason I ended up rebuilding my Lenovo Thinkpad Helix in BIOS mode, despite the slower boot process.

Volume keys are tricky because oem's aren't required to map them or they map them to different keys at boot

Hello, any news about a touch enabled bootloader?

Exciting thread for XPS 12 9250 owners
I've had my refurbished XPS 12 9250 since August 2016. I've not attempted any modifications, but would like to use the Google Play Store rather than the Microsoft App Store. Microsoft apps are so far behind and lacking compared to android.
Thank you @katana444 for creating this thread. Was wondering about your post here on the "Remix OS for PC" referencing android-86 rc2, and my assumption that you could run it on the 9250. Please update me on this. I see you thanked @KamaL on @idz1992 's Remix OS for PC > android x86 6.0-rc2 thread, here. Seems you would like like your boot solution here to be better.
Amazing support from members who may not own this tablet PC, so thanks to @bonez , @Milamber33, @HypoTurtle , @Maromi who all have great Remix OS xda feedback elsewhere as well. :good:
Here is an interesting article: Remix OS on Surface 3
I've been tempted to sell this tablet PC at a loss (I paid $640 for the 256GB 4k version) and move to the android Pixcel C, since I have many android apps. But I can't give this nice little tablet PC up given hopes this thread and the Remix OS thread comes up with viable alternate OS solutions (preferably dual-boot Windows/Android). Please feel free to continue this thread, create an XPS 12 9250 thread, or PM me on any successful OS installs on this tablet. :fingers-crossed:

How to install on system with Nvidia GTX 650 graphics card?
Mine is an nVidia Quadro k2000 card but it works fine...in windows and mavericks.....gonna try with RemixOS now.
i am a daily hackintosh user, and am loving it how the community has gone simpler and simpler every day.
Give CloverEFI a try, it has immense capabilities and is very friendly to Linux and Windows environments. I actually wanted to test how it goes with RemixOS, but i waited for the beta, and if things go as feared (RemixOS depending on Windows Boot Manager), i might go for an extensive trial.
PS, I'd dual boot as well, but OS X does not live happily with other OS's on the same disk, especially on non-Mac hardware.

When I first boot, Its Chameleon bootloader. If i want to load windows or RemixOS, I choose the System drive...which takes me to the Windows bootloader containing the RemixOS, PhoenixOS and Windows boot option created with EasyBCD.

Okay, well I know what to do then. I'm rebuilding my laptop this weekend and have downloaded everything I need for both a Windows 10 and El Capitan installation. I am still hoping to get a second hard drive and do it that way, but I'll see how things goes. I think I'll keep Remix OS on a flash drive so that I can travel with a bootable drive that contains all my essential apps and data.

can't choose remix os at boot on a tablet with no keyboard

I usually use my Dell Venue 11 Pro without a keyboard attached but now I can't choose remix os at boot. Is it possible to choose the second option of a dual boot without a keyboard?
I have a similar issue with a dell latitude 7350; I just bought it without a keyboard and it has no usb ports so I can't plug one in.
I've installed remix os but the touch screen doesn't work at the boot loader so I can't get into remix os; anyone have any ideas how I can boot into remix os?
Edit: Is there a file I modify with notepad to have it boot into remix os?
i have the same issue. did anyone found a solution?
did you test this?
https://www.reddit.com/r/RemixOS/comments/48t7m1/installed_on_dell_venue_11_pro_7130/d0n7z4m/
the solution is only with android 5 image, maybe someone has android 6 image for this?

and how can i change the boot order in remixOS? or do i have to stay there forever? is there a easyBCD for android?
Oh Remix OS is your default boot option? Normally is the other way around.
You just said I should make it default with easy bcd. Then remixOS is default. How to change it back from remix os?
You need to edit c:\boot\bcd.bcd
But I'm not sure if there is a BCD editor for Android, and You can't boot to any USB?
Otherwise You need to boot from USB to a Windows Live environment and run EasyBCD there.
I ran into this as well with my NuVision Tablet. Upon boot it will not use the power button to select the os even though I can use the volume buttons to go up and down on the list.
What I don't get, is I was able to install RemixOS on my Acer W500 and it edits the Windows Boot Manager that functions the same way, but works correctly with the Windows 8-10 style touchscreen menu, the same style of menu if you go into Windows 8-10 and go through Settings to get to Startup Options.
The only thing I can think of that is different is it is not a UEFI windows install, however it is a UEFI capable bios?
On my Dell Venue 11 Pro I added an UEFI boot entry for Remix OS (took a little fiddling). Now I can enter the UEFI boot menu on startup and select the boot entry using the volume keys.

[SOLVED] [Surface 3] No boot menu at startup

Hi there,
I have recently purchased the Windows Surface 3 and is attempting to load remix os alongside the existing windows os.
I have referred to numerous tutorials and suggestions to dual boot/load from usb. However, regardless of the method used, I am unable to select remix os during boot. The device boots straight to Windows 10 without allowing me the option to select the OS i would like to use. I already have secure boot disabled in UEFI and have attempted to install remix onto both ntfs and fat32 partitions, which did not yield any results thus far.
EDIT: I've solved the problem by disabling fast startup in windows. Hope this would help anyone who are facing the same problem.
How did you install that in your hard drive. Is there any partition that you have to make? What version oof the remix os have you installed on your Surface 3?

Hey there,
You could create a partition. Howver, I actually skipped that and installed it directly into my C drive (your Win10 OS is not affected). These are the things I've done in sequence to get it up and running.
1. Turn off encryption via Settings>System>About
2. Turn off fast startup (google this, its first in the list)
3. Turn off secure boot in UEFI
4. Download and install 64bit Remix OS
I'm using the latest marshmallow version. However, the touch screen does not seem to be working for me, while the type cover and its touchpad works. Do let me know if u manage to get it working somehow!
Hope this helped you.

Dual boot RemixOS & Windows 10 on touch tablets

Hello everyone and thanks for these great releases!!
I have a Lenovo miix 700 Windows based tablet, and I'm interested in a dual boot with RemixOS and Window 10 using the touch screen only, without the keyboard.
I have RemixOS efi folder extracted and running on the same partition of WIndows (C: ), and I can boot through UEFI normally.
THe problem is - this requires to enter the BIOS in order to chose UEFI OS, which means requires having the keyboard attached to enter the BIOS settings. and being a tablet, I don't have the keyboard with me all the time.
I'm looking for a way to boot into RemixOS from Windows 10, without the need for the keyboard, by using a batch file script or any other application available that will restart the device and boot directly into RemixOS.
I also want to keep both Windows 10 and RemixOS on the same partition , without the need for a separate partition for RemixOS
I know that devices based on Legacy can use easyBCD and iReboot to achieve this, but I couldn't find an equivalent for UEFI bios.
Maybe using METRO boot manager and add an entry for RemixOS? IS it touch enabled?
I'd be grateful for any help to achieve this! Thanks in advance!

easyuefi not running well in Win 10 Anniversary Update. I prefer grub2win
any news or tuto to easyboot on win10 tablet without keyboard ?
thanks is advance for your help
That's something I've been trying to get to work in the past days!
I've shrunk my C Partition and created a new one with 16GB formatted in FAT32 for Remix OS.
Extracted the ISO and copied the files onto the new partition.
Added a new entry with easyuefi (Type Linux/other OS pointing to the efi\boot\bootx64.efi file on the new partition)
Created a shortcut for the advanced start %windir%\system32\shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00
BUT Remix OS doesn't boot in resident mode (it get's stuck on the Remix OS boot logo) ... in guest mode Remix OS boots just fine!
I don't have an idea why this is happening and how to solve this one ... maybe someone like @RemixOS_Jason does

Cool, but nor the Windows nor Android Bios'es are made for InsydeQ2S. Lenovo uses a custom made BIOS...
Folks, Lenovo used on purpose different bios'es. The Android Version will never understand ACPI, UEFI, Bitlock etc... it's cropped EEPROM is just not meant for it. I know it's a frustration, but it won't happen. The Windows Version will "maybe" be able to load some kind of x86 Android, but what about display, halo, wifi, anypen, wacom, dolby etc drivers?

i don't have device in my hands now
but i have a little hope
at least we can boot windows or android from USB/microSD
hmm
for windows version it must be easy
we can keep windows on primary disk
and install android on external drive
* :|||| then how this s**t can boot it?
hmm, we need to disable secure boot
then add grub to bcd with easybcd
* :\ android need system/boot/data/cache... !!
yep, we need to partition usb drive like official android disk
same sizes for system, cache, ...
not userdata
then we need to edit ramdisk
we need to edit fstab(and init.r2_cht_ffd.rc) to mount system and other partitions from /dev/sdb(c) [instead of /dev/block/by-name/]
* what about other partitions like keymaster?
i'm not sure it's needed but we can symlink it on init scripts
but for android version i'm not sure what i have to do
first i downloaded android firmware zip and there was file called "bootloader"
Code:
/Volumes/ExFAT 1/YB1-X90L_USR_S000155_1609272258_WW06_BP_ROW-flashfiles/bootloader: DOS/MBR boot sector, code offset 0x3c+2, OEM-ID "mkfs.fat", sectors/cluster 4, root entries 512, Media descriptor 0xf8, sectors/FAT 200, sectors/track 32, heads 64, sectors 204800 (volumes > 32 MB) , serial number 0x786ce839, label: "ANDROIDIA ", FAT (16 bit)
so it's fat image
and i was able to mount it
BINGO
volume label is ANDROIDIA just like what i saw in chawe boot option photos in OP guide
well on bootloader i can see \EFI\BOOT\bootx64.efi
:good: :good: :good:
now i'm sure android version yoga can also boot (any)efi file
* but who dare to touch it?
noone, we have tool called efidroid : https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/efidroid-t3447466
this guy can boot efi files for us
someone have to port efidroid for yoga (thats why i asked for device tree on TWRP thread)
now we need windows boot manager efi files (uefi boot partition) and windows system files to boot windows
ok, i'm not sure how to install windows on usb at this stage
but for example we can boot windows setup usb
(we need to find a way)
like install windows by virtualbox with PC on USB, then try to boot it on yoga (not sure)
or took backup of windows version and restore on USB :\
my friend wants to buy windows version (right now we have shipping problem from amazon) and i will try to install android on it
then if anyone wants to work, i hope can help

Hi guys!
So I just got an Android YogaBook and the "bios" (actually UEFI) is a standard Intel made UEFI loaded with tons of options.
Android is loaded as any standard UEFI OS using a bootloader called KernelFlinger.
This means that we can boot Android, Linux, Windows and in theory also macOS (LOL).
I'll try to install Windows in the next few days, should not be hard (except for finding and usb adapter LOL) and will report back
P.s. I believe the Windows version uses the same UEFI but is locked in a user friendly "basic mode". This makes sense as they are supposed to be able to get into the UEFI while we're not

I'll try to install Windows in the next few days, should not be hard (except for finding and usb adapter LOL) and will report back
P.s. I believe the Windows version uses the same UEFI but is locked in a user friendly "basic mode". This makes sense as they are supposed to be able to get into the UEFI while we're not

i don't have device in my hands now
but i have a little hope
at least we can boot windows or android from USB/microSD
hmm
for windows version it must be easy
we can keep windows on primary disk
and install android on external drive
* :|||| then how this s**t can boot it?
hmm, we need to disable secure boot
then add grub to bcd with easybcd
* :\ android need system/boot/data/cache... !!
yep, we need to partition usb drive like official android disk
same sizes for system, cache, ...
not userdata
then we need to edit ramdisk
we need to edit fstab(and init.r2_cht_ffd.rc) to mount system and other partitions from /dev/sdb(c) [instead of /dev/block/by-name/]
