Internal SD only shows 10gb. - Honor 5X Questions & Answers

Hey everyone. So I've unlocked, rooted, and flashed a custom rom. After doing all this, it shows my SD card is only 10gb. I've tried a factory reset, and wiping internal SD, but it still only shows a max size of 10gb. Any knowledge on how to fix this? Or is it just fubar'd?

I knew this would happen when people got their Prime day devices. I haven't received mine yet to start development but I can tell you this:
This would mean the system partition / recovery partition make up for the 6 GB in laments terms. This means the 10GB you see is for media, storage, and additional data storage, hence why it has a mini SD slot. I'd recommend an ultra 128GB sd card which you can buy here
Hope this helps.

Slow down, do some research before flashing roms and gapps.

Hey, my sincerest apologies for the lack of reply. I just found the email alert that someone replied. That makes sense. I have an external SD card in there now, I was just concerned I may have done something wrong. As my Note 2's internal SD card died (they suffered a defect which I had no idea about) and was a bit concerned I was on that path again.

[Q] Why is my internal storage gone?

My tablet has 8GB of onboard storage and is partitioned. 1GB as "tablet memory" and the other 6GB (approx) as an "internal SD" with the remaining for the ROM. Just recently I noticed that the 6GB partition went missing. It is no longer available to me. However, the tablet restarts and loads the ROM just fine. It also loads my external sdcard just fine too. I'm guessing something is wrong with the partition table? Or is the hardware toast?
I figure since the 1GB is still showing up that it isn't a hardware failure, but I'm not sure. I tried reinstalling my ROM, factory resetting, mounting the internal sd and nothing works. What can I do? The tablet is an Ainol Aurora 8GB model running Essential Clean Rom 1.1a. I tried just to forget it and make due with using just the 1GB and my external SD card but when I try to download apps from the Amazon Market it says that there is no SD card (internal) and that I need it. I didn't try Google Play yet...
Update: when i go wipe the system in CWM it says no apps2sd partition found and something about /sdcard .android secure. Does that have anything to do with it?
Try another ROM basically one stock ROM and after try a custom ROM.When you flash the stock ROM use repartition.IMO that's all.I hope this solution work for you.

Thanks for that. I'll see if restoring the stock rom helps. I doubt it though. I've tried 2 different ones (not stock) and it didn't do anything at all...

Hi Andie00, did you ever come to solution to your problem, as I'm experiencing something very similar with CM 10.2 my internal storage just disappear and I can't see it. Otherwise ROM works very well and fast, don't wish to switch to CM 11 which is more buggy in other ways.
Problem gone when I make factory reset/data wipe it worked until next reboot of device.

UPDATE: I find something interesting, if I remove my external SD card physically from device and than reboot phone, Internal Storage return to where it should be, and if I insert external SD after this, it become available as well and phone see 2 internal storages and external SD card.
If reboot device, in Settings > Storage I see first Internal storage normally, second is blank and external SD is visible.
Any idea why it happens and how it can be fixed?
Problem seems to be solved
answering my own yesterday's question
posting this for anyone who facing similar problem, maybe my experience would be helpful for someone.
I've tried to insert different SD card and reboot with it, and after this my internal storage remained visible. so I plugged my sd card to PC, examined it and moved from it to safe place all files which shouldn't belong there. for example I find out external SD contain .android_secure folder with 1.6gb of remains of old programs, though I never installed them to external SD, also I removed folder Android which contain just empty folders without files.
After this boot with that flash was successful and I can see both internal storages and external SD, and now I can use CM 10.2 on my Samsung gt-i8160 which works blazing fast comparing to stock firmware, phone never was so responsive no matter what I did before!
Hope it can help someone.
I posted this in regards to an old Ainol tablet I had. My "solution" was to put back the stock rom.

Thanks for response, Andie00! Glad I don't have to use your solution, so far my phone working better than new on CM10.2

LG MyTouch [E739] Internal space question

Hello, been awhile...
I have a question concerning the internal storage the E739 has.
Currently it has about a gig more or less of internal storage, so here my situation. I recently have gotten a new phone, and want to hand this one (e739) down to my son. The thing is I do not have an extra SD card, nor money to purchase another. Is there any possible way to maybe partition some of that internal storage to an emmc mnt? I wouldn't need much just a little for some games (emulators, some of them require an sd card.), and place to save a few pictures so he can use the camera.
If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be very much helpful thanks.
P.S. I'm a little late for his birthday =[ wanted to figure this out by then, sadly it was yesterday.
EDIT* I prolly have my wording all wrong here, what I would like to do is partition an internal sd card in the e739's internal storage if that's possible.
Ok, with the lack of responses. Let me rephrase. Is there a way to install apps w/o an sd card, for apps that ask for an sd card?
I am trying to search on my own in google and here, as well as a few other places. All the results I'm getting are, move apps to sd card, increase internal memory with an sd card, etc. I kinda want to go the other way, and split up my internal memory. Or just have a way to trick apps into thinking my internal memory is an sd card because obviously I do not have one, nor can get one atm.
I have root, and can flash anything thats needed, I'm pretty used to all that stuff.
Nevermind! I have found a solution. I thank anyone who had tried to help me search w/o replying.
Here is a little guide I had found to Mount /cache as /sdcard. Hope it helps others.

Partition SDcard problem

So, I have the fully working clockworkmod on my android 4.1. The internal storage is pretty low, only 1,5GB, but now I have only 200mb free on it. I purchased a 8GB SDHC card and used the recovery menu to add more internal storage, Advaced>Partition SDCARD or whatever is called. I selected 2gb to add and swamp 0. After finishing, I rebooted the phone, only to see that the internal storage didn't even changed, but now I have only 6Gb on the SDcard. What did I did wrong?

I don't know about doing anything wrong, but just sounds like you haven't completed the steps to link your new partition to your internal storage. Just partitioning doesn't automagically link the two. You have to install a mod, script, or app to do that. The method varies by device and sometimes there can be more than one way with different pros and cons.

Recovery - Help

I am on a sprint LGLS990, rooted with twrp. I have just started doing backups. I did one the other day on the internal storage which worked fine. Now I'm doing a bu on the external sd and worked well until generating md5. Its said this for the last 30 minutes. It appears that it is stuck. Is there any way to stop or cancel this?? I tried pushing any of the hardware buttons in back, but power just locks it, then I swipe to unlock it. Please help!! I don't know if I can do a battery pull or not if that would stop it, but I definately dont want to ruin my ext sd card as I have sensitive info that I need.
Update - I did a battery pull and it just seemed to reboot it. Nothing wrong with my external SD card that I can see. I can successfully do a backup on internal but everytime I try on external it gets stuck on generating md5. I have searched google but can't come up with anyone that has had the same issue on the g3. It's a sprint with model LG LG 990.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just a thought, are there any other recoveries that work on my model g3?

Is the card larger than 32GB, and formatted as exFAT? If so, that's likely the problem. Our bumped version of TWRP has a bug affected the ability to read exFAT cards. If so, you can copy all the data off to a PC (or Mac), reformat the card as FAT32, and test it out. Here's some info on how to reformat the card to FAT32:

Its a 64gb card and I'm not sure if it was formatted as exfat. I will try your suggestion. Will I lose any storage space by formatting the card to fat32?

If it's 64GB, it was probably formatted as exFAT from the factory. And yeah, you'll probably lose some storage space by formatting it as FAT32. How much will depend on what you have stored on the card. A lot of small files will waste more space than the same number of large files.
I just copied the external card to my desktop. I tried opening it up but it wouldn't open, saying it could not open that file. I even tried to extract and it said the same thing. I don't want to erase my card unless I know for a fact that my files are safe. With some apps, I have over 2 years of sensitive data that I can't afford to lose. Maybe it might be easier to just do a backup on my internal, then just copy and paste to my external.
There's a new TWRP that I believe fixes the exFAT bug:

I just did a backup on external SD. It appears to be working. The only thing is that it took 30 minutes to backup.
I am rooted and have the latest twrp recovery, think it is 2.8.2. On this version, I am able to save my backup directly to ext sd. I have noticed however that when I do a backup, it takes between 30 to 40 minutes to do one. However, I just did a restore last night and it took over a hour and a half. I have only had the phone about 2 weeks. When I had my S3, doing backup would takes kess than 10 minutes, same with restores. Is this normal or is something amiss?? Thanks for the feedback.
Update-
I have also noticed that when backing up to the internal that it takes just a few minutes, now when I backup onto the ext sd it takes about 20 minutes. The issue I had above I believe is connected when I used twrp manager instead of booting directly into recovery from the power menu. But its still taking alot longer to backup on my ext vs the internal. What would be the cause of that??
It seems most have issues if you SD is more than 32g.
The recommended format seems to be Fat32 on any card. That may be your issue. TWRP shouldn't be taking any extra time.

I'm just wondering when I had my S3, I had the same card and did backups with both phiz and twrp and never had any of these issues and the backup and restore times were usually under 5 minutes. Now with the G3 I am having these issues.

It probably wouldn't hurt to format it and start over. Just like in the other thread I just answered you in. Start fresh and clean since you're starting with a different phone anyway.

I just formatted for 64gb sd card, moved all my files back onto the card, checked on my pc and it said fat32 under properties. I did a backup and halfway through the data backup it failed. I have updated twrp to 2.8.3.
Any suggestions on why I can't use the external card??

Did you format it in Windows/Linux as Fat32? Then move your files to it, and put it in the phone.
You may need to format it as 2 partitions.
Other than that, I really don't know what else to say.

I formatted it in Windows 8 but I had to use a third party program as Windows only had the options ntfc and exfat. I first deleted all my files, then formatted and copied all my files back, then inserted back in phone and tried a backup. In the third party software, I don't it gave a option to split the partitions.
Am I the only one having issues with creating and restoring backups on the external SD or ate others having the same issues?
Anyone else having issues backing up and restoring to the external sd card??
I'm just wondering when I was on the stock rom (with twrp recovery), I never had a issues backing up and restoring to the external sd card. Seems like this might be rom related, don't know, just a guess.
Also, are there any other recoveries that work with the G3, since it appears that twrp still has bugs.
I'm guessing not.
Pull your SD card out, or just make it backup to internal just to rule out TWRP.
Then maybe try a smaller card to make sure it's not your phone, or the pins for the SD card.
If the smaller card works, then you know it's the 64g card. It it doesn't, then it's got to be your phone.

I just did a backup on my 32gb sd card. This card has not been formatted, its stock. It did do a backup but it took 40 minutes to do it. It appeared to get stuck on the last 1000 files when backing up data, the last 1000 files took over 15 minutes itself. I just did another backup, this time on my internal, it took only 5 minutes. How come its taking so long backing up to exernal, and thats with the 32gb card, still doesn't work on my 64gb card. Is anyone else have issues with backing up on a 64gb card?? I would like to know if i am a isolated issue or if others are having the same issues.
Try using Partition Master to format the 64GB card as FAT32, instead of exFAT.

Adopted Storage Issue.

Hey Guys,
Hope some one can help me, I have got my hands on a Moto E, nice device shame about the inbuilt storage.
So I unlocked it , flashed TWRP and then installed Linage along with the correct Gapps package.
To fix my storage issue, I made the SD card the main memory and everything worked fine, until I rebooted the phone.
Then it said my SD card was corrupted and needed reformatting. This happens each time I reboot the device.
I have tried other Rom's on both Nougat and Marshmallow and the same issue each time.
My Sd card is a Samsung class 10 card 32Gb.
Can anyone tell me where I am going wrong ? Or if there is a Rom that does not have this issue when rebooting, as its send me a little bonkers
Which build of lineage are you on?
Try this-
Make ur SD card as portable storage again (it is in the 3 dot menu in the settings> storage > SD card)
Its strange, this issue has never been reported before.
Use squid's recommended twrp, wipe everything, except the place where ROM and gapps is put (i.e. clean flash it)
Again format SD as internal. Install some apps, reboot to see, if the problem is gone, and then reply with the result on this page.
Thank if it helps!

Hi,
So I am currently on Lineage 14.1 -201700403 - nightly.
I have erased the device in full and formatted, everything to just to be sure.
Then I sideloaded the Rom and Gapps, using adb and rebooted the device.
When i choose to use the sd card as internal storage and then reboot, it then tells me that sd card is missing and that i can remove it or forget it.
When i re-insert it the sd card it shows as corrupted.
I don't know if it's something I'm doing, or if the card is screwed, i will try another card and see if this is the problem.
So,
It turns out it was the SD card that was the problem, i changed it to a sandisk class 10 and what do you know, no problem with it at all.
I am able to use it as internal memory and when the device is rebooted there is no problem want so ever.
Thanks for your help:good:

Well great. U might use that SD in future. Format the faulty one on Windows, try to repartition it, and check if it works(u might use it as a spare one )
