Few questions about ZW2 - Asus ZenWatch 2

Hey, I just purchased the ZW2 a few days ago and It's a great watch but I have a few questions if anyone can help.
1.) I synced a few songs to my watch via Play Music but I can't figure out how to play them?
2.) If you say " OK Google play whichever song by whichever band" to the watch it will open the music player on the phone and direct you to the song and not begin playing the song. The OK Google command will play the song if directed on the phone but not on the watch. Is there a work around for this to make it play?
3.) Can you also get a notification sound via the watch speaker along with the vibration?
Thanks in advance.

1) Use a Wear player app on the watch like "Wear Media" or other
2) syntax always strange and not good result with title
3) use app like : lightflow, feel the wear, SWM notification

I am also a new owner of ZW2. I really like the watch but also cant figure out some things (altough it is my 4th watch with AW)
1. Can i upload some images to.my watch or watch then from the phone? I mean, is it possible to watch pictures from phones gallery, on this watch?
2. Is it possible to set my own mp3 as a watch ringtone? Or at least, if the watch can play the same mp3 as the phone?
3. Where do I get some free and nice watchfaces?
4. Why I dont have Whatsapp and Viber on my watch? On every previous watch, I had it.
Plus, when I scroll to my contacts, theres option to send them Viber or Whatsapp msg, but not every contact has that option altough everyone is usuing both of those communicators. Weird.
5. Can I uninstall some app from the watch? I dont need two weather forecasts so I would uninstall one of them, or at least, make ot invisible

Awesome, thanks for the info. Wear Media and Feel the wear work great. Is there a way to direct the verbal Google Maps navigation instructions to your watch instead of your phone? That would be very useful. Thanks again.

I think "Smart Wear Notification has an option to speech notification.

Did you install the Zenwatch Manager app? It has a lot of free faces, and allows you to enable many of the features you are talking about. You do have to install Android Wear as well, as they interoperate. Yes, it does feel a bit bloaty, but the app does help you to setup the watch easily.
I also installed the Asus Clock app (which upgrades the alarm clock on the watch), Google Fit, and a calculator app for Wear. There *is* a MP3 player, but for some silly reason, it won't play using the onboard speaker. It requires a BT headset.
As for maps, while it doesn't appear to show the map on the watch, the navigation steps will show up if you are using Google Maps. That is a really cool feature.

I use the "WatchMaker Premium" app to create my own watch face. I cannot help with any of the other questions.

@up - i dont like such a watchfaces. I preffer original watchfaces from real watches. But I use Watchmaker Premium.
@jshamlet, yes, I installed Zenwatch manager. It has some functionality, but thereś still some things for me, that can not be changed. For example, I hate the sound from the speaker, when I connect the watch to the charger. I wish I could turn it off. But only this - not other notification sounds.
When it comes to custom sounds, LighFlow does the work.
But I have still one major problem, which really is making me considering switching back to G Watch R, and that is display. I mean, when the watch goes into dimming mode (or whatever it is called) after few seconds, it doesnt look good. It looks like the half of pixels were off - I dont know if it´s to save the battery or the spec of the display, but it doesnt look good. It looks like 80x80 pixels - not 320x320. I am not sure if you know what I mean, but I will post a picture to compare (G watch and ZW2) on the same watchface. But my question is, if thereßs something I cold do about it.

for sync and play music with watch and on watch you can use new update google music.

Yes, ZW2 has a "Low bit mode" for his Dim mode with limited color. No good render for real watch but fine for classic digital face.
Ex with Watchmaker, not bad in dim mode :

I actually set my watch to turn the display entirely off, and use gestures instead. It's actually pretty good about sensing the "I'm looking at my watch" gesture, so I rarely have to repeat it. The battery savings are phenomenal - I usually get home with about 83% battery, and 75% by the time I strap on the charger at night.
The only real issue I have is that the onboard speaker and mic are largely useless unless you are literally talking into like **** Tracy. It's fine for notifications, though I prefer the vibration anyway. It is annoying that my phone constantly throws up an option to redirect phone audio to it, since I never do, but that is a fairly mild irritation.
That said, I didn't buy it for that feature, and for what it does, it's been a great device.

I have the larger ZW2 and just started to listen to music. How do I adjust the music to play through the watch speaker and not only through the phone?

Hi there, am in a trial of Stellio and awaiting my android wear device to play with it properly.
Being super critical here (apologies in advance) my only comment would be to tweak the phone homescreen widget a bit.
I love the options we are given with poweramp like adjustable background transparency, lots of different themes etc and I think with the clean and well layout design of stellio, the widget just lets it down a little.
But apart from that am loving your work!
pretty good app, but in the wear version of the song browser, its missing the album list after you select artist, it just goes to a list of all the songs by that particular artist. The addition of album list by artist as well as perhaps grid view in the phone browser would make this my go-to over poweramp.
Now my favourite music app.
Top Right conflicts a little with mini launcher, which I have in the top right position, but it's just one extra swipe needed.
love controlling music from my lg g watch:laugh:

Thanks for suggestion! I added it to my todo list. Very likely that i implement both suggestions.
Can anyone make a few screenshots of app on a rounded screen (moto360) ?
Hi.
Player does't work with Xperia Z Ultra (4.4.4), can't find any music files and force closes even if I directly choose the music folder (on SDCard1). Moto360 plugin also does FC every 10-15 seconds.

I'm loving the look of this application! But how will it look on a Moto 360 smartwatch? Well, guess we'll see once it arrives :]

Tried to take screenshots using adb but the result is just the full screen square version instead of a cropped 360 version. I figured the goal was to see the layout so i just took pictures instead. Theres a bit of blur cuz its been resized from 16mp to 480 width :laugh: if you want the bigger ones i can post those also.
The link doesn't seem to work.. How can I get this app?
Been looking for an android wear music player that can do fast forwarding/rewind or scrubbing.. Does this support that?

[Q] Few simple questions before buying this watch

I am planning to buy this watch, and i wanted to ask few questions before i do it. (please use the 1. 2. in your replies too for easy understanding )
Also answer only on questions you want, no need to answer all of them if you do not know the answer.
1. Is the screen really on at all times?
2. Does it makes a lot of light in dark places if i am not looking at it? (dimmed mode)
3. Any way to turn screen off?
4. Do you think it is worth buying it? The cheapest one i can get in my region is for around 140 euros. Is the price worth it? Low budget so i do not want to waste any money.
5. Is it possible to add reminders, alarms, take notes, etc. without using voice commands? I am not a native speaker and it seems pretty strange to talk the watch in foreign language.
6. Are there keyboard apps for it? Only one i found is Minnum, but it seems like it only supports English. Any alternatives?
7. Is the watch already outdated or this one will receive future android wear updates?
8. It seems like it needs a constant Bluetooth connection, does it drains a lot of battery one the phone? I use nexus 5 and i can barley get through a full working day on lollipop. I fear that if i start using android wear, it will drain my battery a lot faster.
9. Similar question, but can i use the device without using voice commands at all?
10. I read about some flashing and stuff on the watch, i really don't want to do anything of that sort, but is there a way to make it so that when i receive a sms message, i can reply using some keyboard app on the watch, without having to use my phone at all? That would make it worth the price it has, but if i can not do this, why would i need it if i have to take my phone out of the pocket anyways?
1 : it is a setup, YES
2 : yes but lot not lot ? depend, it is not a torch
3 : YES, like 1 : it is a setup
4 : YES YES YES
5 : Alarm Yes, for the other you can but with the phone if you do not want talk to the watch.
6 : like you said, there are but..... not easy so we can also say NO
7 : Always updated any time Wear is updated, no more recent Wear device at this time. Some with addon like GPS or Heart Rate but always same Wear system
8 : NO, BT drain is minimal
9 : Yes you can but you have less feature directly from the watch but not less than other Smartwatch.
10 : Wear is made to operate with voice command so it is like you ask if you can use your smartphone without touchscreen.
Keyboard is always a bad solution in a so tiny screen. Otherwise it will surely other solutions soon with the evolution of wear application. Wear have only 5 months. There's already a sms app with integrated keyboard app.
Thanks!
So if i will not use voice commands, do i still need the watch or can i do the same things i need on the watch using touchscreen instead of voice commands?

You can do all you want execpt write text on watch for note. For SMS there are an app with inside keyboard so you can write SMS. Almost all other thing can be do with touchscreen. Many other watch have no keyboard and no voice command. pebble have nothing to write.
You can see and dismiss all notification, answer to a call, setup alarm, view your calendar, use calculator, see weather, view your keep note, use shopping list, there are an app with keyboard to edit and add calendar event with touchscreen ............

8. As someone using a nexus 5 with his lg g watch I would say it's definitely noticeable. 18 minutes of wake locks in 10 hours is definitely noticeable to me. Not only that but there's other small wake locks and services that run that don't typically. I still like the watch though.

[Q][Help] Tenfifteen QW09 3g Smartwatch - How to answer/dial to paired phone?

Hello everybody!
I'm a forum newbie and hope someone can help me!!
I've bought an Mtk smartwatch, model QW09 from http :// www . gearbest .com/smart-watch-phone/pp_411172.html (I've to use spaces inside url due to forum rules). It's an Android device with a Kitkat version on board called FunOS.
I've been able to pair it with my Huawei P8 smartphone via bluetooth and I receive basic notifies from the phone BUT I can't answer to a call when phone rings (the smartwatch only vibrate once but nothing appear on its display) or make a bluetooth call. Obiously I need it because I don't use the smartwatch with a SIM inserted into, only with paired phone for not missing calls when it's inside my pockets or inside a bag...I just want to know if it's possibile and how to answer/make calls to my phone via bluetooth from the smartwatch.
Thanks a lot in advance if someone could help me! :fingers-crossed:

You probably figured this out already but I'll post to help others who are also having this issue. Short answer is that you cant't answer calls made to your phone via bluetooth with this devise. The QW09 is essentially a tiny phone and that keeps it from being used this way. You can either put a sim in it and use it as a standalone phone (provided it will work with your carrier) or you can use it to receive notifications. But you cant answer/make calls to my phone via bluetooth.
I might be sending this 2 years later, but I actually found a way to use this watch right. Here's what I think IS by far the best way to get this watch operational, at least for my Huawei Mate 8:
1. Root with KingRoot (Download the application over Windows PC, enable USB debugging, connect the QW09 smartwatch)
2. For this step you have 2 options:
a) Download Watch Droid Phone Pro 8.2 apk somewhere on the internet.
b) Get Lucky Patcher and patch Watch Droid Phone 8.2 yourself.
3. Downloading the same app, but other counter part, this would be, Droid Watch 8.2.
MAKE SURE TO INSTALL THE EXACT SAME VERSION, THE LATER BUILDS ACTUALLY DONT SHOW UP THE CALL BUTTON AS SHOWN IN THE PICTURE BELLOW:
{

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I PROVIDED BOTH SCREENSHOTS SO YOU WOULD KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR.
4. Connecting is pretty simple just follow the instructions, and you should be done. Calling through the app can be setup, as well as other cool features, depending on your phone.
NOTE! - These other steps are for people who want to get rid of some annoying FunOS features.
5) NO.1 Watchskin faces:
This FunOS was actually quiet annoying to work around first. I figured that it's based on NO.1 watches, and so their watchfaces do work.
For that stuff you'll need root access like which I mentioned as step #1. The location to put the facewatches is root/system/clockskin... (Make sure that they're labeled _45, _45 etc...)
6) Getting screen rotation, notification panel and navbar at the bottom of your screen:
As you may have noticed, when you swipe down, you get this horrible looking menu with a QR code, and nothing to touch besides WIFI and Bluetooth.
Get these 2 programs to fix that:
[url]https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nu.nav.bar[/URL] - Navigation bar.
(When using put scale on bottom to 30% - IF YOU USE ANY HIGHER THAN THAT, THE SCREEN WILL OVERLAP WITH THE NAVBAR)
[url]https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.chladek.swipe_status_bar[/URL] - Swipe status bar.
[url]https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stihiya.notification.drawer[/URL] - Notification drawer.
Some other useful apps that I found to actually be really good:
1. Gallery 3D (Android 2.0 imtation) - This app is good because scaling pictures HD on this thing is a pain in the ****.
2. Document Viewer - Good for reading Office documents.
3. Dimly - For dimming your display, has nightmode.
4. Messanger Lite - FOR SOME REASON ONLY THIS VERSION ON MESSANGER WORKS.
5. RAR - For archives.
6. Screen Roration Camera - Use this to be able to rotate portrait, landscape... etc. If you combine this with the swipe notification you can easily rotate the screen, because it creates a notification.
7. OpenCamera - Good for zooming etc, rotating. Since position for the camera is AWFUL on this device, not to mention screen being a bit off too.
8. File Manager + - Use this instead of ES File explorer, because it wastes less memory.
9. ColorNote, Smart Quick Settings, Weather, BlueMail.
I spent some time trying to find the right programs for this watch, so it wouldn't get build up with a load of crap and get slow.
Most of these apps are around 5 MB each, except Messanger Lite.
If you'd like some sort of switch for the Advanced Task Killer, I use One Cleaner.
Vysor for control over PC...
Flappy Fish is also a good game if you're trying to find something that won't fry the motherboard... etc.
Also when getting the notification bar enabled you'll notice the standard KitKat notification panel, with all of it's features.
For some reason these FunOS bois, put some features hidden. You couldn't even change your GPS/Location settings. Luckly with these you might be able to.
If you got any other questions feel free to ask!
please can you help me? i recently buy a qw09 smartwatch, i root it , but i can install Watch Droid Assistant in the smartwatch , a message appears saying that version is not available anymore . Insatalling the last version doesn´t show a bluetoot caller icon. And watch droid phone in my smartphone works, but the texts shows in white, and its almost impossible to read any of the menu (sorry my bad english)

[APP] Springboard Music - Better remote music controls for the Pace's homescreen

Ever since I got the Pace, one of my main gripes about it was the music controls when I'm playing a song on my phone. I don't play music from the device, everything I listen to is streamed, so I have to use the clunky and cramped notification-based controls. What I really wanted was a full screen page, on the home screen, for controlling music. Now it's possible to make custom pages, this was the first thing I made.
(Left: Music controls for a playing song, with the progress shown as the arc on the outside. Right: Volume controls for a song, with the volume shown as the arc on the outside)
Usage
This app is made to be very simple, and uses (or abuses if you like) the built in launcher code for "listening" for music on the phone. It appears to support any app with a notification whilst playing music, but I've tested it with Spotify and Play Music and it works fine. To access volume controls, long press on the pause/play button. It will revert to normal controls after 5 seconds, or if you long press play/pause again
Make sure you have both notifications and music remote controller enabled in the Amazfit app (Me > Setting > Notification Settings) for this to work properly
Note: Whilst the app tries to get the playing music as effectively as possible, it sometimes take pausing/playing a few times to pick it up. I'm investigating why this is
If you want to move the page, or disable it entirely (it will appear in the app list called "Music"), you can do so with my Springboard Settings app
Download
Installation
Code:
adb install -r SpringboardMusic-1.0.apk
Reboot your watch after installing
Uninstallation
Code:
adb uninstall com.kieronquinn.app.springboardmusic
Can you do X?
Probably not. The API is fairly limited, it doesn't pass album art (which is a shame, it would look great with album art background and dynamically coloured buttons) and it doesn't pass any other information than is used already (no package name of app that's playing the music, for example). Additionally, the only actions available to send to the phone for controls are: next, previous, play/pause, volume up and volume down. No scrubbing and no exact volume control.
Source code available here
DAMN! you're on FIRE!!!
Cool app, but the only controls working for me are volume. Tested with poweramp and youtube on a Redmi Note 3 with Android 7.1.2. I also don't see any track info in the music screen.
Poweramp does have a playback controls notification on the phone, so not sure why it's not working.
Thank you for your work.
It would be very interesting if it came to work as file manager does, so you can see the whole screen

That's very strange, it usually appears after a reboot in both the launcher and the settings app. Maybe try uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling and then rebooting the music app?
I also thought about it. I will do so when I get home

Amazfit Bip - Pace - Stratos - Need help deciding which to get

I've been looking into the Amazfit range of watches to replace my Pebble but I can't find any definite information on how these devices function at this time, could you fine people please fill me in?
Amazfit Bip
This device uses a closed source OS and has 40+ days battery life. It has notifications but as far as I know no canned replies and no music controls. Syncs with....? Works with Gadget Bridge.
Amazfit Pace
This is based on Android (version?), 5 days battery life and notifications. Only syncs with Strava? No information on music controls. APK's can be pushed to the watch but no further information available. Does not work with Gadget Bridge.
Amazfit Stratos
Newer version of the Pace but with 3 buttons and better water proofing. Other differences with the pace?
To answer your questions:
Bip
Correct on the OS and battery life, and indeed no canned replies (none of the Amazfit watches do). No music controls, but using third party phone apps you can use a combo of button presses to skip. Syncs with Mi Fit, which can then send data on to Google Fit.
Pace
Android 5.1, custom. No Android Wear. Yes on the battery life and notifications. Syncs with the Amazfit App, and Strava if you have the international model/flash the international ROM. With the Chinese firmware you can sync with Mi Fit/Google Fit as well as the Amazfit App, but NOT Strava. Music controls are provided as stock as a notification on the watch. I've also released a homescreen page that has dedicated controls too if you prefer that. APKs can indeed be installed, but compatibility is limited. This will help on the compatibility front, and it is slowly improving too
Stratos
Basically the same situation as the Pace, but it is bigger (and bulkier), has a few more sport options as well as better waterproofing. I believe it also has better heart rate tech?

Syncs with the Amazfit App, and Strava if you have the international model/flash the international ROM. With the Chinese firmware you can sync with Mi Fit/Google Fit as well as the Amazfit App, but NOT Strava.

Am I reading this correctly?
International version syncs with Strava but nothing else

I'm having a hard time visualizing this, can you elaborate? Each song played is a notification? Is it possible to skip songs, pauze/resume & change volume?

Correct on the syncing, other than the fact that the international model does sync with the Amazfit app. You can switch between the two "models" after getting the watch, the only difference is the software, so just flash the firmware you want.
The watch has a notification drawer much like normal Android, but on the bottom not the top. The music notification is basically the same as you'd get on a phone:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This offers skipping, playing, pausing and volume control, albeit very cramped. I also find it gets stuck a lot - I played that song yesterday!
My app adds a page to the homescreen (like a fullscreen widget), and looks like this:
Offers the same options, volume control is done by long pressing play/pause > using the next and previous buttons to change it
Pace doesn't connect to Strava directly. It just syncs your workout to Strava account logged inside Amazfit App. On Strava hasn't Amazfit gadgets to connect, only other brands.
