[SGH-T399] Flash and simlock question - Samsung Galaxy Light Questions & Answers

The mobile is SGH-T399. I would like to make an update. When I try to use 'Software update' option there is a statement: 'Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available'. I noticed that there is also TWRP installed. There was a simlock to T-Mo initially, but currently it is simlock free. I don't know how it was unlocked.
My question is: if I flash stock firmware with Odin, will the simlock be back again?

[Q] RA-hero-v1.7 & Elenix Rom but still locked to Orange UK sims??

Hi All,
wondering if you can point out what I'm missing here.
I've had my Hero (UK Orange) for ages and rooted and installed a custom rom a long while ago, but now I've come to use it with a Vodafone sim and it just won't play ball.
I've paid for an unlock code from htcsimunlock.com which validates and says says 'network unlock successful' only it's not successful
I get the Sim with the exclamation icon and it won't connect, plus when I reboot, it asks me for the code again.
I have Amon Ra Recovery v1.7.0.1 and I had an Elenix Rom on there which I've just updated to a newer one, but still exactly the same.
I've read some unlocking guides, but they all seem to involve installing the recovery image, then loading a custom ROM which I have both of.
What am I missing?
thanks in advance,
James

Try flashing the original RUU file and use the unlock code after that, and flash after that clockwork and a custom rom

SGP321 Bootloader Lock

Hi,
I was on version 10.3.1.A.0.244 on a Unbranded SGP321 Tablet Z. I did not check if my bootloader unlock allowed was Yes or No.
I wanted to root so I did this:
1. Flashed the firmware to 10.1.1.A.1.307 via Flashtool
2. Rooted the device with DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit (v17) {perf_event exploit}
3. Backed up TA with this TA backup app
Root was working but I was unable to unlock the bootloader via flashtool as bootloader unlock allowed was no.
I flashed to the latest 10.3.1.A.0.244 via flashtool, but bootloader remained unlock-able.
I also tried to restore the system with Sony Update Service, it downloaded the latest firmware and flashed the device whilst it was on flashmode. However, the bootloader remained unlock-able.
I purchased this device unbranded so I cannot understand why it will not be allowed to unlock. I have never inserted any SIM into the device.
Furthermore, please check the picture attached; The IMEI and IMEI Software Version are written as known!
Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
UPDATE: Just flashed again with SUS and IMEI word is displayed correctly. However, still bootloader unlock-able.

Unknown Imei and basebandm, and find a way to get back to stock.

So here's a little bit of context first:
1-This is a friend's phone
2-The data partion corrupted on its own
3-I unlocked the bootloader
4-Flashed twrp
5-Formatted data partition through adb
6-Flashed cm11 normally
Now the phone network doesnt want to work and both the imei and baseband show up as unknown even though they show up normally with the command "fastboot getvar all" .
I've tried restoring to this backup http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2775650 but it kept crashing and rebooting and it had the same imei and baseband problem so i went back to cm11.
Any ideas?

If imei and baseband are missing in Settings it is a sign that it is a hardware issue and will cause a host of problems. If under warranty you can return to carrier or HTC for repair. However, since you unlocked the bootloader and I would guess it is S-ON you will not be able to return it to 100% stock for a warranty repair. You can still return it but will have to pay for the repair.

Omg man that's totally not the response I wanted to hear. What about the fact that the iemi and baseband show up fine using the "fastboot getvar all" command? And BTW I only unlocked the bootloader when the data partition corrupted, before I tried to unlock the bootloader HTC had already told my friend that they're gonna charge him $200 bucks to fix that issue and that wasn't really an option for him. Also, do you think the issue maybe because of corrupted firmware. I though that maybe if we werent able to fix the issue then I works just get s-off and run an ruu then try to remove the tampered banner and get back the bootloader states to "locked", what do you think?

It is worth a try to see if the firmware or RUU will fix the issue, however, if it is hardware then it will not.

Thanks for replying! I will definitely try flashing the firmware and RUU before concluding that it's a hardware problem, but btw do you know if i need s-off to flash firmware for the same os version and same cid/mid or will it just check that it's compatible and overwrite the one already there?

If you are S-ON then RUU & firmware must be the same version or higher and signed. When you flash the firmware or RUU it will overwrite the partitions and it may wipe all of your data as well. So, if you can you will want to copy all of your data/files off of the phone prior to flashing the firmware or RUU.

I really appreciate your help, I have one final question. If i extract the firmware from the official ota update then it's signed, right? Also, do i have to lock the bootloader, flash the stock recovery and have the stock sense ROM or if having the relocked bootloader and/or stock recovery enough?

Yes, the firmware in the OTA is signed.
Yes, you must lock your bootloader prior to flashing firmware or RUU if S-ON
If you flash the stock firmware it will include the stock recovery

Will flashing my t-mobile s5 reset my sim unlock?

Hello,
I live in India and I purchased t-mobile s5 online and it already came unlocked and rooted. It was a bad esn set. I don't know how the previous owner unlocked it, but it was just 1 week old. So my guess is, he didn't asked T-Mobile for unlock code, but rather used some online services. Also, I'm unable to update my s5 via OTA and Kies method. While trying to update via OTA method, the following error message pops up:
"The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way. Try downloading software updates using Samsung Kies on your PC, or visit a customer service center."
And while trying to update it via Kies, it simply fails with a error message.
So my question is, while upgrading my s5 (to android 5.0) via Odin method, will I loose my sim unlock? Will it revert back to being region locked and I would have to purchase an unlock code?
Thank you.

It does not update via OTA because it's rooted. If he used the network unlock code then is should be safe to upgrade via Odin. If it's properly network unlocked it's very hard to lock it again. Rooting and flashing will not affect that.
Also, you can unroot (search the thread on rooting to see how to unroot) the phone and then it should successfully update via OTA.
Plus, if you have the contact info from the original owner you might be able to get him to send you the unlock codes. That way you would have them.

Oh! I see. Thanks for the info, but I'm not sure how he unlocked it.
I'm no longer in contact with him. I sent him couple of messages inquiring about the same about a month ago, but he hasn't replied me since.
I tried unrooting the phone, but it had no effects. I was getting the same error message.
BTW, I used "Kingo Android root" software to unroot it. But since it didn't worked, I rooted it again using the same software.

For PPWS29.116-11-13, re-locking BL does not return to clean stock

I Got a new XT1926-7 EVERT from Amazon today.
Did OTA to PPWS29.116-11-13 (Nov.1, 2019 update) , everything stock, no warnings, Google Pay worked fine.
Then unlocked BL and then > Settings > System Update > see "System integrity is compromised..... no longer eligible for software updates"
Then I have re-locked BL with 'fastboot oem lock'.
Still, Settings > System Update > see "System integrity is compromised.....no longer eligible for software updates"
Google Pay is not working
On reboot, warning message: "Your device has loaded a different OS".
BTW, On BL screen, "flashing_locked"
in Developer options, OEM unlocking is set to left (locked)
I have a second identical phone which I flashed to stock EVERT_RETAIL_9.0_PPWS29.116-11-11 and re-locked BL, same result.
So, it looks like there is no way to return to clean stock after BL has been unlocked.
Once you have unlocked the BL you won't get back to the "locked" state, only to "relocked". To solve your problem regarding the updates you have to install Magisk.

and the "relocked" state appears to be not eligible for future OTA updates
You can receive OTA updates in any case, but your FW must be complete stock to install it. It doesn't matter if your BL is unlocked or not.
The info under settings > System updates does not have any effect on it.
Hey there,
I wanna bring up this topic. I used a moto g6 plus for about a half year now with just bootloader unlocked and magisk rooted.
When there was an update I got it installed via Download on Lolinet and flash command no erase found here on xda.
So now I wanna resell the phone again. Of course I will tell the potential buyers about the unlocked bootloader but I wanted to bring it to stock and OTA able again.
So I thougt reflashing the stock downloaded from lolitnet and relocking the bootloader would do the job. Well no.
If the Reteu Version (which is my phone) from Lolinet is not 100% stock, where can I find something to flash on it for doing the job and letting disappear the "Your device has loaded a different OS" prompt?
Thank you out there.
