Best long term custom ROM for the Redmi 3 Pro - Xiaomi Redmi 3 Questions & Answers

I'm in a position right now where I won't have readily available internet for an extended period of time (living in a 3rd world country through the Peace Corps) and I wanted to make sure that I downloaded the most complete/least buggy ROM available right now.
Right now it looks like a toss up between the SpaceX Rom or CM 12.1, can anyone who has perhaps used both provide some insight? thanks.

I think that SpaceX is best for you becauz it is officialy supported for redmi 3 pro and the cm12.1 it is also supported but it has not fingerprint support . Yet

I have used both for my Redmi 3 Pro and what I can say is that it's all preference. In MIUI 8 (SpaceX) it is very stable but there were some minor things that i noticed such as some videos were not able to play on the browser app (trying to watch Naruto), unable to delete multiple contacts at once (yes, you have to have to delete one by one), cannot use a third party app for sending MMS or group texts (does not allow the message or picture to go through for some odd reason)., and also to add on to the MMS bug, YOU can start the group chat via text on MIUI's primary messaging app and it will be fine; however, if you somebody adds you to a group chat, you will only get a particular participant's text and not through the group chat....in other words you're really only texting one-on-one in group chat. Almost forgot one thing, and that is that not all your Xposed Modules will work on MIUI 8 whereas to CM 12.1 they work flawlessly (e.g. Youtube Background Playback, AdAway, One Tap Video Download). Those were my only negative experiences with MIUI 8 (SpaceX) that I encountered. As for CM 12.1 (nehz), it's stable as well....only problem is that it consumes more battery than SpaceX. Hope this helps you in what you will choose!

Have you tried MIUI 7? Specifically ManIT's rom 7.5.1? Does MIUI 8 have better battery than that Rom?

No, i have not tried it yet. What I have heard is that MIUI 7 has better battery than MIUI 8. However, I am not sure because I haven't tried it myself.

Yes miui 7 has better battery life compared to miui 8 but that is maybe cause miui 8 is still in beta stage.wait until stable then am sure it will be way better than miui 8.as you know updates are meant to improve not deprove.so for now miui 8 is not perfect but is still good for daily use.you wont be disappointed by its performance.

You must try European ROM for Redmi 3.
I've been using it for a month . And it's stable

Best ROM? - Need to flash 3x Redmi Note 2 TDD-LTE (christmas gifts)

Hi everybody,
I bought 3x Redmi Note 2 (TDD-LTE) phones at AliExpress and will gift them to my family for christmas (live in germany).
Since my pretty old parents and my sister do not have much clue about technics/software I would like to flash ROMs which they can use for the next 2-3 years without necessity to update and which are working as flawlessly as possible.
There are so many different ROMs which are in development in this forum but in the comments there are always statements like "good but poor sound quality" or some "video codec is not working" or "battery issues".
Could you please make some suggestions of ROMs which have (almost) no issues? -> I dont care about the Android versions and if it is AOSP, CM. MIUI or any other ROM as long as it fulfills the following
Requirements:
Stable
Playstore
German language
Maximum battery life (performance is not important - my family members won´t play 3d games - so if there are some tweaks like underclock e.g. that would be cool)
good sound-quality
good cam quality
good connectivity (gps, LTE, bluetooth e.g. working flawlessly)
Nova-Launcher working
Thank you very much in advance!

I've been using the xiaomi.eu 5.11.26 ROM for a couple of weeks and have only 1 issue - auto brightness is slow to respond, but great other than that.
You really do not want anything other than the official MIUI because you can't troubleshoot if it doesn't work and you have to update it manually.
Don't bother with xposed, root or anything. Because there will always be updates for those kind of things and I doubt your parents and sister would want to manually do all these things.
Xiaomi.eu and sMIUI both requires TWRP to be flashed and you don't mind checking for an stable ROM every month and flashing it with the possibility of soft bricking the phone. Even though the chances are miniscule, it's just better to be safe with MIUI which is tested extensively (I hope) and you don't have to worry about warranty issues if it arises since they are on stock.

In my experience, CM12.1 build 8 (haven't tried newer) was more stable and usable than any MIUI build that I have tried for this phone. As for troubleshooting, you can google anything you want for cm12 and you'll find a solution.
I don't know how people can recommend MIUI over CM12 unless they just haven't tried it.

I am using @lokjianming CM12.1 build, that has some bug, Ex. "Vibrate on Touch" not works for some user (including me), mobile network not stable (SIM2 LTE network may not working), call recording not working, you need to install other recording app, sometimes the speaker has cracking sound (rarely), Chinese translation not complete (some UI is english), I am not sure how complete in German, but I can accept this bugs, I like CM ROM, as I know, XiaoMi never releases their full kernel source, so some bugs are very hard to fix.
Go for stable 7.0.8.0
Go for the stable 7.0.8.0 release. You can find it on xiaomi.eu stable roms download. The rom is multilang, so it supports german. Everything works flawlessly. Like bluetooth, wifi, screen auto brightness. Everything works, and battery life is great. This rom is rock stable and never needs an update. It is also not rooted like the other roms, so if they use banking apps or other apps that may only allow unrooted phones, it is no problem there alsom 7.0.8.0 stable rom from xiaomi.eu is the most stsble rom i have used. So if you install that ro they would be very happy with their phones. Good luck
Thanks for that feedback - so you thing i should use 7.0.8.0 instead of 7.0.12.0 ?
I am currently about to start flashing the 7.0.12.0 and then saw your post
Where can I download the version which you mean? Since on the official page there is just the chinese version available of 7.0.8.0
Just installed 7.0.12.0 global - xiaomi must be kidding me.... there is no german language available - even as the location germany is not available...
Can anyone tell me which of the official versions support german language?
finally ended up with smiui 7.0.8.0 (german included)

Stick to MM

As you all know about xposed is not yet developed for Android N. + There is a problem with theme engine. Its not Stable Yet. + there are so many apps thar aren't fully compatible.
Wait Till the Release of Xposed Framework.
Unless you want to have some compromisation
Also I checked some of Custom rom based on N.
They still have quite few bugs yet least but annoying.
So better wait.
Also there will be a recommendation to Stick To Miui 8 Global Stable 8.1.1 because it is the stable release for The redmi 3s.
After all messing around you will come back to you home i.e MiUi 8.
For enhancing features there is ROOT + XPOSED + MIUI TWEAKS APP.
MULTITASKING IS NOW ALSO SUPPORTED VIA THIRD PARTY APP.

This is XDA, you can't just come in and say "don't mess with your device OS", that's exactly why we're here.
A lot of people here, including me don't like Xposed, and therefore that's not a factor in choosing if stay on MM or move to N.
Yes, N ROMs are buggy as hell right now, devs are searching for drivers in another device's sources and with enough time, these ROMs will reach a stable status, like fedosis LOS13 has.
And no, after all messing around I haven't gone back to MIUI. It's beautiful but it will never be a clean version of Android.
And multitasking is already available on MM ROMs (maybe even on MIUI) natively, just enable it on the developer options.

I think you have so much time to try out all buggy roms.
But i made this post for the people who cant take the risk to use the phone as daily life basis.
If people dont know what the problem they are dealing with will give them a huge problem.
Such like if u wanna call urgently and then your phone's get random reboot.
Or the compass doesnt work or the camera says cant connect to camera. More of the problems sre there and i dealt with them. All is just shifting from here to there.
If there is a guy like me who wants to have their app data safe and all customisation. They can't switch everytime.

MIUI 10 Hydrogen Port for Kenzo-Discussion

With due respect to the developers, can some one start to port miuipro rom based on miui10 from hydrogen to kenzo?
Reason for posting this thread is bloody beggar 'kisasanya'

Actually i had paid him twice but he didn't gave me link and puted me in block list so i cant talk with him anymore.
So it would be great if someone start porting miui10 miuipro roms from hydrogen to kenzo.
Thanks in advance and awaiting for positive response...

AGNi kernel for MIUI Nougat works and the camera works for video after installing the kernel, Magisk root and the blockscreen works for fingerprint or pin, dont block it self anymore.

its a good start

Its imposible to get that kisasanya roms for free, funny.
Anyway, like I said before, lineageOS 14 or +, is much better until you want to use split screen for games, to play 2 games at the same time.
Edit: and miui 10 its so bad atm, better try "MIUI 9 Hydrogen Port for Kenzo 8.7.1" or "miui.am 8.4.27 beta" who can run w/o any problem (freeze, reebot) while:
playing 2 pokemon go account at the same time, use firefox and whatsapp, all w/o problem; And repetitouch (it records my "touchs" and I dont even need to tap like crazy while "raiding"), etc, etc.
And the most important thing for me: new notifications shade. whatsapp can be replied with one touch (no dual finger needed), and u can keep some notifications ALWAYS expanded.
plus you need to flash "MIUI.AM Volte Patch Link"
miui.am and volte patch all from turkdevs.
Look at this: https://youtu.be/4KEL3zkfMHc
This ROM has an excellent managament of RAM, works a lot better than any PORT (alexandrin and kisasanya ROMS) I have the 2GB Kenzo and works great with all my apps and games (30 or more) For those who enjoy the MIUI layer I tell you, the best ROM since Android 6.0 MIUI 9 ROMS. I come from using the liquid-remix ROM (excellent by the way) but I'm a fan of the MIUI customization layer , and this ROM is by far (with some errors which I hope some great XDA developer fixes at some point) the best It has been seen and used in 1 year or more.
Can you post Payment screenshot here or whatsapp me on +917696013709
Does push notifications lights working on you guys?
Sim network don't work
Volte is note working on this rom also fingerprint scanner option is not showing. Please help!!

Which ROM you are talking about bro ?
My phone is Kate 3gbram, and I did a loot of stuff to keep 2 pokemon go accounts open at the same time (to play at the same), use whatsapp and firefox. If I didnt change some options, delete like 10 miui apps always in memory w/o reason, MIUI.AM didnt keep that 4 apps opened at the same time.
If u dont use pokemon go apps like this, then go LineageOS.

When you back up everything and restore it again, you will have as little space as now.
Get a file manager like this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alphainventor.filemanager
It will show you which apps or files take up the space on your phone (see screenshot attached). Delete apps and files you don't need and only then make a backup
Here's another great app that will help finding out what takes up the most space - DiskUsage

Honestly all custom ROMs will be basically the same since pretty much all of them are AOSP based. They all should have Italian language. The only difference you will experience might be in some tweaks that other ROMs don't include out of the box. LineageOS might be a good starting choice since it gets frequent updates, it's very popular and it's one of the most basic ones out there, maybe start with that one. Something like Resurrection Remix would add many more tweaks but visually they both will be similar. I chose AOSiP since it's fairly basic but had some useful tweaks LineageOS didn't include and it gets updated just as frequently.
If you don't know how AOSP compares to MIUI, maybe check some Youtube videos to see how the interface looks like. Note that camera performance/quality might be slightly worse when compared to MIUI. MIUI also might have features, AOSP does not have. It's screenshot taking capabilities are much better for example. Audio volume out of the box might also be much lower when compared to MIUI so you will probably need to fix that.
1. Hopefully you have Snapdragon chipset since development for Snapdragon is more active than for Mediatek
2. Pick a well known/popular ROM (basically sort by views and pick something that has official in it's title). I wouldn't download anything from someone's Dropbox/Google Drive
3. Choose Android 10 or 11, no need to install anything below
4. Choose ROM that has frequent updates so your security patch is up to date
Before ROM installation you need to unlock your bootloader and flash custom recovery (TWRP for example). All these processes have guides here in XDA. I don't know if 4X differs from 4 so better read about that before doing anything
Ok. Thank you very much....i'll try....

I'm willing to throw some money at it if he can add the Poco F3 baseband to a pad 5 5g custom rom. Same chip set and specs basically.
I want calls and SMS to function. I want to ditch a phone and just have the Pad 5. My online banking is done via OTP (one-time pin). I can withdraw money cardless I just need my SMS to send me the pin.
Also money in and out of my account I'm sent an SMS.
I'll tip in $100 USD. Let's go.
The SMS (both sending and receiving msgs) works fine on mine (Pad 5 pro 5g). The voice call doesn't work at all. You can't even use a dialer for 'secret codes' for testing. I am currently on a GSI, but it was the same on MIUI. I am in the UK if it makes a difference.

Not at all, the miui interface and the google framework is integrated, i need a vanilla rom without such crap, then i can install manually the apk i need for my use.
I will strongly prefer to ditch MIUI if nothing else to greatly reduce the risk of irreversible hardbricks that seems to be fairly common with updates after the first year or so and very rare in case of custom ROMs if at all. Just today a new report mentioned MIUI 13 hardbricking Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11, Mi 11 Lite 5G. MIUI is just garbage IMO anyway.
