Issues with Pokémon Go - Sony Xperia M4 Aqua

My girlfriend is having issues with her Sony Xperia M4 Aqua. More specifically, she can't ever go through the Gyarados-screen when using mobile internet, even when the servers are up. She can get through when she starts it up using Wi-Fi, and switches to mobile internet afterwards. Whenever the game crashes, however, she is forced to find a Wi-Fi spot again to start up Pokémon Go.
Apart from Pokémon Go, she never has issues with Mobile Internet, so it's probably not related to the provider. Tethering isn't working either; she can't get in either when I'm making a mobile hotspot.

I have the same problem . I just start the app at home before I go out. And sometimes it works also with mobile internet but I haven't a good solution.

How did you guys even get Pokemon Go on your xperia m4 aqua's? I just bought one the other day and the play store said my device isn't compatible. When I download the .apk I just get stuck at the login screen where it tells me the GPS signal is not found. I've tried troubleshooting everything I can think of. It will not work. I'm returning my phone today.

Perhaps your region isn't supported niantic... It was working for me with the apk long before Pokemon came to Canada, and Ingress worked fine in Canada too. Download ingress and see if it works in your region. Ingress is another game Niantic developed before, it has the same concept as Pokemon Go.

I live in Canada and it has already been officially released here. I was able to install an .apk with version 29.0 and then update it from the google play store. That didn't work. I then uninstalled it and was able to install again straight from the google play store. That also didn't work. It keeps saying my GPS signal is not working but google maps works fine and I have my GPS set to high accuracy.
Ingress works properly and I just tried using the Android Device Manager from Google and it pinpointed my phones location perfectly.

--> I GOT IT TO WORK! I installed Ingress and Ingress worked but my phone popped up a message that said it needs to update Google Play Services for Ingress to work. I updated it. Tried Pokemon Go, and PRESTO! Pokemon Go works perfectly now.

Glad you saved some money

I have the same problem as your girlfriend. What I do to "solve" it is connect to a VPN with mobile data and open the game, and when I get through the loading screen I disconnect from the VPN. Hope it helps!

[Q] google play store insist unavailability, but I'm in the US

All,
I have been working on this issue for the last three days, and can't seem to resolve it. First here is the issue, and I will follow it with all the steps I did to try to resolve it.
Firstly the issue is related to my android phone where I can't install magazines on, but it seems to be more a google issue then an Android issue. hopefully this is the right place for some help/guidance.
I used to live in the Netherlands, now moved to the US, and was hoping the google play store would be fully opened up to me. However here in the US when I go to the google play store it still only shows me the apps store. the magazine, movies and others are not visible. If i try to by a device from the nexus site, it insist I am not able to do so, as it is not available in my country (US)....
however if I open a new account on my laptop and go to the previous mentioned sites everything works.... i.e. it seems to be an issue with my current account.
for my current account I have done the following
manually updated the home and work locations to reflect the new situation
went through all the profile, setting and google+ settings to try to find a location in there. even went to my google app domain acount and changed the timezone.
unfortunately, goole insists it is not available in my country, BUT I am in the US....
why is it not changing, and does anybody know how to resolve this
Is it worth checking the device's build.prop, to make sure there are no NL or non-Us references blocking you?

Missing apps from my apps list in play store.

I've just looked at my apps list in the play store and there is loads of my installed apps missing they are installed on my phone but not showing up in the list. Could someone please tell me where they have gone and how to get them back.

This has happened to me as well. I think I started after Google Play was updated to version 4.3.11.
I have like 120 apps installed. The "Installed" tab under "My apps" now says I've got 9: Barcode Scanner, GTasks Key, K-9 Mail, Official XBMC Remote, Pure Calendar, Pure Grid Calendar, Soundhound, Superuser and USSD/MMI Fix. If I flip to the "All" tab, all my apps are still there. From there I can view information about the apps, but those that are not among those 9 will say that they're not compatible with my device.
My device is a rooted HTC Desire Z (called G2/Vision in North America), with some "EliteMod" 4.0.4 ROM - which have been working perfectly for well over a year. I was thinking it was some kind of Apple-style scam by Google to force users of old, rooted devices to upgrade.. xD
When trying (and failing) to figure out how to tell a living person at Google that 90 % of my installed apps and probably 99 % of the apps in Play Store are missing, I discovered the following added comment here:
"We’ve heard of some users suddenly missing apps under the My Apps section of the Google Play Store app. This is a known issue that we are currently investigating, and updates can be found on our Known Issues page."
I found no updates on it on the "Known issues" page, though.
I have the same problem
Hey guys,
I have the same problem after updating Play Store to 4.3.11. My installed apps went missing, I am not able to search for any apps on Play Store, app in all apps tab arent available in my country anymore (all these apps were available in my country before the update) play.google.com does not show my device, well its really frustrating. I wonder when google will fix this problem. I guess its something to do with their framework services.

I've fixed it today, I'm not exactly sure how, as I tried a dozen different things I read online. Including uninstalling Adfree, removing hosts-file, clearing app-data for some Google Service-apps, flashing gapps one more time, etc.
But what I did just before it started working again, was to remove my Google account (the one used on Play Store, you can remove it from "Accounts/Synchronization" under Settings), restart the device, and then re-add the account again (in "Accounts/Synchronization"-settings). Then everything became as perfect as it was.

Thanks trollsperm. I will try that today. BTW, I have observed one more thing. The playstore works just fine after a new flash on Wi-Fi, but it goes back to the no working state as soon as I switch from Wi-Fi to Mobile Network. Have you encountered that?
I have tried your suggestion of deleting the account and re-add the account. This was the outcome
1.The play store started working fine and app sync was flawless. This was on Wi-Fi
2. I switched to the mobile internet and the play store worked fine until I rebooted the phone. The play store stopped working and apps were missing after the reboot with the mobile network on.
3. I then cleared the play store cache and data and switched on WiFi. Opened play store and voila the play store worked normally.
4. I did the same process on the mobile network but it didn't work out.
I guess the Google location services are kinda screwed up on the mobile network and not on WiFi.

Then I'm afraid your issue is different than mine. For me, the result have always been the same, whether or not I'm on Wifi or mobile. I can now browse Play Store both on Wifi and mobile, and rebooting changes nothing.
When I experienced the issue of "empty" Play Store, the Wifi-connection icon in the upper right corner were always gray (instead of blue) - something that's usually only happening if I'm connected to a wireless network, but the router isn't connected to the actual internet.
My conclusion is inconclusive, I'm just happy that it's back to normal..
Hi guys,
I'm facing the exact same problem as rahulananda.
In my case, the play store running on my Galaxy S4 and also on my notebook, is empty - searchs returns nothing and whey I access directly an app page, it says the app is not available in my country (Brazil).
For me, play store works fine over when mobile data (4G) is enabled, it doesn't work at all on wifi.
I also have a Galaxy S3 which is working perfectly on wifi and also mobile data.
It doesn't seem to be related to play store version, as in all my devices it is currently on version 4.3.11 - besides it is also not working on my laptop.
But, indeed, this is an issue to determine the location - for some reason, over my wifi, and rahulananda's mobile data, Play Store is unable to determine the country.
I found this on Google's Known issues: support.google.com/googleplay/known-issues/1319135?hl=en reffer to issue 8324410.
Hope they fix this soon, this is driving me crazy!!!
Let me know if you find a solution!
Its a simple fix as long as you have root.If you do look at this:
1. Navigate to the Build.prop
2. Find these 2 lines:
Code:
ro.build.description=
ro.build.fingerprint=
3. Delete everything in front of the "=" sign
4. Download a custom rom for another device that has great compatibility with apps(htc one, sgs4)
5. Copy those lines from its build.prop to yours
6. Reboot and Enjoy your market:good:
Well, my problem has been solved after applying the latest CM10 nightly update.

Weird bug - Cannot connect to any of google services over wifi on my phone

Moto G 2014 here. For about a week now, I've been unable to access play store or sign into an account from my phone while over WiFi. My WiFi works fine in all other regards. If I put it on mobile data, I can access play store, install apps, etc. The minute I turn WiFi on it will time out immediately for all google services. Although gmail works.
I have tried reinstalling my rom. Although I've been using the same one for over a month with out issues before this. It didn't work.
I have tried installing a new ROM, CM13 with Marshmellow and the problem persists. I haven't had the opportunity to check and see if it works on a different WiFi network. That will be my next step.
Anyone have experience with something similar ?
Anyone have a suggestion to fix this? I have a very limited data plan and would like to resolve this issue. Could google have my IP blocked for some reason? It won't even let me add a google account to my phone if it is over wifi. No issues over mobile data
Interesting issue, I have the exact opposite problem. I can connect to all google services while on wifi, YouTube, now cards, play games. Once I disconnect from WiFi, those affected services would still work for an hour or two, but it'll eventually say connection error. While still on data (LTE), YouTube would work if I sign out of my account though. I've tried all the data wipe, clear cache, uninstall and disable, but to no avail. I've never had this problem until recently, currently using the s6 edge+ with T-Mobile. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Update, I just re-enabled play music, but it wouldn't allow me to log in, same connection error like the other google services mentioned above. I then went into my application manager and reset all apps settings, and surprisingly ALL google services are working without a problem, was able to log into all of them via LTE data. I'll check again tomorrow and see if this holds. Good luck.

I wish that would work for me. I've done that, I've factory reset my phone, reinstalled the same rom I've been using for months, tried new roms, it WILL NOT connect to any google services over wifi. I can do anything else, browse the web, reddit, this site play games that require the internet, download from alternate stores (aptoide) everything works over WiFi except google play services. I am so confused. This is one of the most frustrating issues I've ever experienced while owning an Android phone.

Certain Google apps won't update over Verizon 4G on 5.0.1, but will over wifi

Play Games and News & Weather are the two that are important to me that refuse to update under that condition. I can sign in to Gmail or Youtube just fine. My sync settings are (mostly) working over 4G. Play Books, News & Weather and People Details won't sync over 4G. However, I don't see Play Games in my sync settings at all.
I've tried uninstalling the updates to Play Games from the store then re-installing, but no go. Whenever I attempt to sign in to Play Games or update News & Weather, it tells me to check my internet connection. My internet connection is perfectly fine since I can use Dolphin browser or Youtube or practically any other online-capable app just fine.
I have gone to a Verizon store and they thought it could've been the SIM card. They replaced it with a new one right there, but I still had the same problems. This has been happening for a number of months now, probably when I reverted back to stock last September. I'm just sick of the problem now and want it resolved.
Oh, and I am not rooted. I'm running stock 5.0.1.
Weird. Did you try a factory reset? It sounds like an problem with the Google play system.

Pokemon Go? No GPS Found

Hi all. Running 5.3.1 unrooted. Installed the xda-labs app to run pokemon go and wifi tether off of my phone with wifi location on. "GPS not found" is at the top of the screen. So here's where it gets interesting. I have 3 fire hd6s for my girls. I installed G-apps (services, store, vending, and one other one) and ran Pokemon Go again. It worked! On one of the Fires... the other two not so much. For some reason the one that worked would bring up a google prompt to turn on location services with a different screen than you would not find within fire os. There must be two location services. One for Google and one for Amazon. Anyone know of a way (without root) to force google location services instead of amazon? Anyone else in this weird Pokeboat? Thx! SL0
UPDATE: Went to get the new 0.31 version from xda labs, but it wasn't posted. When I opened up 0.293, it asked to update the app and sent me to the play store to do the update. Previously the play store said the app was incompatible, so that was a nice change to know I had a legit version. I started up the app and still got No GPS found. I also noticed that google log in was not available from the log in screen... will try Play Games... maybe the log in will force the new location service...

Nope... well yes, on two now... the ones I wasn't busy installing and uninstalling. It could be because I loaded the google play stuff though APK instead of an ADB push. Regardless, the two that work are problematic because the location is based off of the tower where your phone is using the hotspot from. If that happens to have a pokestop there you're in luck. Walking around connected to a mobile hotspot doesn't really seem to be all that great. The juice really isn't worth the squeeze. If anybody figures out a better way to use a mobile hotspot let us know

And I figured out how to get it to work, at least on my Amazon Fire Phone!
I too was getting the dreaded GPS Not Found error in Pokemon Go. I even downloaded a GPS app from the Amazon App Store just to make sure that my GPS was indeed working, and maybe even to force Pokemon Go to see the GPS. Yes, the GPS was working, but it didn't force Pokemon Go to start seeing the GPS. I even did a factory reset on my Fire Phone and reinstalled G-Apps because of the other issues with the Google Play Store which came along with this error for those of us on the Amazon Fire Phone. I redownloaded Pokemon Go, and....... I still had the darned GPS Not Found error!
So I restarted my Fire Phone, hoping that might help, reran Pokemon Go, and I suddenly got the pop-up asking me to verify location services, even though I had just enabled them when resetting the phone! Now, when I first got the error after the full reset and reinstall of G-Apps and Pokemon Go, I had checked my location services and they were set to the highest and most precise level. When I got the pop-up and allowed location services, it set the location services on my Fire Phone to the lowest possible resolution, GPS Only. Guess what? Pokemon Go now works!
My best guess is that the latest Google Play Store update which broke the Play Store for those of us using Fire Phones, broke something in the highest accuracy settings of our Amazon Fire devices, and by switching to the lowest level of accuracy, GPS Only, Pokemon Go was able to find our onboard GPS (In your case the tethered GPS) and run correctly. I'll bet you dollars to donuts that the two Kindle Fire's you own which ARE working are now set at the lowest GPS accuracy setting, and the one which isn't is still set at the highest level of accuracy.
Anyways, I hope this helps!
Enable Google Location Services
source: pokemongokindlefire . com
Amazon Kindle settings > Location > Turn OFF
Google Maps > Press My Location icon
It will prompt you to enable Google Location Services. Hit "Yes".
Issue solved.
