[Help] Some Remix 403 issues - Remix OS for PC

Hi guys,
Do you have any idea how to make Remix 403 detect my music folders again? I have two favorite players, JetAudio and JustMusic. Both had been working properly with build 402. However, after I have upgraded, it won't detect music even if I already set the folders.
Another issue I have is with Photoshop Express - clicking Gallery button won't open the Gallery app.
Thank you.

Seems like android media scanner was disabled in this release. Clearly devs can't handle this problem. First, they've added scanning that lagged the whole system, and now they've disabled it completely.
Right now I don't have time to research it, but it's quite simple to fix by applying just few commands.
Read up: "disabling/enabling android media scanner"
For now I can only recommend 3rd party apps from play store - search for "media scanner".
I don't remember if stickmount could also scan media files. Check it.
I hope this helped.

Ahh thank you. StickMount resolved it again. I purchased it earlier for the sake of showing my secondary hard drive.

Do you guys happen to know how to go about starting up StickMount automatically at boot?
Thanks!

How to disable search for DLNA servers in Gallery app?

In my home network I have 3 DLNA servers that allow streaming of all myvids/music.
When connected to wifi on my S3, if i open the Gallery app it automatically searches and parses all files on available DLNA servers.
This drains a huge amount of battery life! and it does this every time the gallery is started.
So far I have not found a way to disable this search or even to limit the servers.
I am running stock everything.
I first thought it was the "All Play" service but disabling it did not help. I know believe it may be a part of the Gallery app itself.
Any thoughts/ideas on how to disable that functionality in the gallery app?
Note- this is not the same as DLNA file sharing. disabling that only disables sharing of files from the s3 to other clients.
This annoys me as well. As much as it is kinda cool functionality to have, every time I go to show a picture of something on the phone at home, it spins up the hard disks in my 2 NAS devices for no reason. An option to turn this off would be great...
I have the same problem. My WD MyBook Live, and media players in the network show up in the gallery and slow it really down. I hope somebody has a solution to this as so far I only can stop it selecting the option "View by" "Content in device" but that can not be saved.
Here is something i have found.
If you select "View By " from the Gallery options menu then choose "Content in Device" it disables the DLNA view.
BUT
only for that instance of gallery.i.e. if gallery app is killed then you will have to choose option again.
Still you only have to do it every time you reboot your phone.
there is another thread just like this that has opped up same section slightly different request.
Ill pop a link from this thread into the other and see if we can get an answer. Have you disabled the media scan function in the wi-fi section?

You should post in here to collate the information and of course use the search feature next time

The thread you posted was only started yesterday. This one here has been here for a week.
Either way ill jump on the other one and get the guys to jump over and get to answer I know you can remove the image cache but I'm not sure about the continual load because even if you remove the cache it will just keep updating it.
You can also root your device and manually remove the Allshare apk's. but that removes the allshare functionality of course.
I have done this on my S3 and gallery no longer searches for DLNA servers.
I've decided to use BubbleUpnP for DLNA streaming purposes instead.
Any luck?
Just got my S iii and am having same issue. I vaguely remember it asking about dlna upon setup, but I cannot find how to disable it loading pics from my PC every time I open gallery. Battery killer! Btw, there is nothing in the other thread mentioned about this. Has anyone figured it out?

I haven't seen any comments on here in several months, has this been resolved? (Aside from getting a replacement Gallery-style app.)
I'm new to Verizon and have the S3 (Verizon model of course) and have the same problem. I turned off all DLNA settings but the Gallery app still searches. I have Plex Media Server at home (Mac version), so Gallery gets extremely sluggish when I'm home and have WiFi turned on. It's sluggish to the point that I have to slowly enter Task Manager to exit it; no sense even trying to get the "Content in Device" option set because it never sticks and takes almost forever to get to because of the sluggishness.
I also went to the other forum link posted above, but that seems to be talking about WiFi always scanning, not this Gallery/DLNA issue, unless I'm missing something...?

on my rooted note 2 I used rom toolbox to permanently remove anything 'allshare' related, as I don't use that stuff. It resolved my issue with gallery slowing. I have plex installed, but it is not sharing photos.
Deleted.
I think I managed to solve this on my device.
I went into the "more settings" under wireless and network. And into "Allshare cast" when I turned this off my gallery suddenly started working again.
*edit*
Nevermind, it was just for a few minutes. The app started to slow down after I closed and opened it again.

Guys, this is an old post, but the same keeps happening with newer models, and i didn't want to use a third party app. I downloaded an app called DisableService (needs root) and disabled the service SystemService inside NearbyService. The nearby devices list has disappeared from the gallery's menu and the gallery starts up a lot faster. I have yet to try if the gallery will still spin up my nas but i'm very optimistic.

[Q] Google Play Music v5 - Lacks Basic Functions

Hi All!
I don't know why I am posting here and not in the review section of Play Store. Maybe I just need to vent out that's all.
As much as I was happy after seeing the MASSIVE improvements in new Play Music by Google (v5) ... I was immensely disappointed that the app lacks some extremely basic featured. One of them, not being able to DELETE any song or album store on device.
If its helpful, I am from Pakistan so Play Music's Other services don't work for me anyway.
The previous version of Play Music (v4.5) DID have this basic functionality which is why I am curious why its not there in newer version.
I was just thinking, of there is a way to MOD the app, just so we can get the Delete functionality back.
Thoughts?
in the settings you can clear the cache of music the app has downloaded. If you've pinned music to the device and want it deleted, unpin it then clear the cache. Sometimes you might need to clear the apps cache too... I think they purposely do not give delete functionality in relation to music that you manually loaded to your sd card, but I don't know why.
It's convoluted, doesn't work well but it's in there somewhere. I agree they need to add better basic features.
^ Thanks for the reply
My problem is specifically for music stored on the device. And just like you said, I sincerely believe that a delete option IS in there and they have purposely left it hidden. (Its not the first time they did that because it was also not there in v4 when it was newly launched. But they did add it later on.
So I can only hope they do the same this time too.
OR, we can have an expert here who understands how to read the app (a developer), tear it down and see if a Delete option really can be enabled.
I am tired of this from google play. Like you said, they did this before. There are to many options out there. Dont let them get away with it. Vote with the uninstall.
^ I already have uninstalled it. I don't want an app which doesn't provide me with the most basic feature and continue to provide awesomustastic GUI.
However would still like to know if there Is a way to mod the app to have a delete button.
UPDATE:
Finally, the latest update puts in the delete tracks option.
Thanks Google! for listening.

[Q] Help Leadboltads virus on Galaxy S4

Hi All
Since a day I have a sort of leadbolt virus that opens my browser and shows the website like below:
ad.leadboltads.net with Top Apps/Offers of the Day

It Makes crazy and I have tried some things alrdy so fix it without any succes.
- Downloaded and installed virusscannen, no succes
- Downloaded and installed ad detector, found a app with leadbolt, deleted it but didn't solve the problem
Hopefully someone can help me too fix this annoying problem

I'm also having the problem and have not found a solution yet.
The only difference for me is I have adaway installed so the webpage never gets to display. Just opens the browser.
I've tried different ad detector apps from google play, but nothing is fixed this problem. Almost ready to reflash the rom and start from scratch.
UPDATE: I fixed the problem.
When the browser hijacking occurred, it happened after installing or updating a program from any source. Google Play, Amazon or a standalone APK. That meant the virus had control over my installer.
Using Lookout's Ad Detector, I identified some potential culprits (Go Launcher EX being at the top of the list) and uninstalled them. That didn't work.
What actually fixed the problem was resetting the defaults for all the apps. Settings > More > Application Manager. Hit the menu key and choose Reset app preferences.
You don't loose any data. You just get prompted for choosing a default app when you run certain applications. I choose to use Lookout's installer instead of the default android installer when I got prompted to install updates.
Haven't had the issue since. Hope this helps.

Hi everybody. (First sorry for my english but I speak french)
This is a solution but it workn't very good.
After the downloading and installation from a update or a program, Androîd ask me if I want to finish the task with the default browser or Chrome ? So I can't see this f*cking page more but I must always put my choice between the 2 browsers.
I thank you for your solutions....

Lookout Security & Antivirus found mine in ChargeBar Free Edition,
ChargeBar came embedded in the NottachTrix 2.3.0 ROM.
I installed it (NottachTrix) and it (ChargeBar) didn't update for 3 months, then, BANG.
I've deleted ChargeBar's update, moved it from system apps to apps, deleted it, and the browser pop open 'ad.leadboltads.net' still persists.
Lookout Security & Antivirus can not find the new location of the malware, they do not have a forum.
By the very definition and behaviour, this is malware, and, ChargeBar (Asgard Casino Apps) is involved in the distribution of malware.
Asgard Casino Apps distributes 34 apps that behave this way.
They are using Google to distribute this malware, abet, that app is benign in its origin, its a pipeline, or conduit for malware.
Sneaky F##kers aren`t they.........
#1) I would like to get this crap off my phone.
#2) I need to bring this to Google's attention, and have the developer and apps banned from the Play store.
Sooo, starting with #1,,,how do I get this crap off my phone!
NOTE:
I will be linking to this post in the NottachTrix post, I'm asking the developers to to move ChargeBar from the ROM zip.

How to deinstall media (server) on Jellybean?

I have had it, after struggling with the media server for months now, the damn thing consistently wastes and kills my battery.
I downloaded rescan media root, which supposedly deactivates it, but not really. It keeps coming back and usually when I see it, it is already too late and the battery is low.
Now the question is which package do I have to deinstall (freeze) to kill the media server? I don't really need it, I can find my media alright myself.
And saving some well meant suggestions right now:
And yes, I do have a SD card. Yes, I do have media on it.
No, I will not remove that media. If media server is overwhelmed with more then 30 files, it has to go (not the media itself)
No, rebooting does not help.
No, reinstalling the whole OS or doing a factory reset is not a solution and not a proper way to do troubleshooting (you also don't just kill a person instead of giving them surgery) I can't wipe out all my data everytime I got a problem.
Any other suggestions I am eager to hear.
I'm ready to suffer any consequences by a disabled media server, at this point it can only get better. I just want the blasted thing stopped and switched off.
Wow, nobody??? Shocking how something as trivial as this gets no answer.
Android has strayed far from its Linux roots, where people are a lot more knowledgable about how their OS works.
Well, if somebody runs into this problem, I now kill it on a regular interval.
I will post the script in the next post. There are quite a few people suffering from this and it seems that it does not take much to make the media scanner crap up and crash and then go into a restart loop forever.

Agreed, strayed really far, because if you made the searches you'd see most of the media scanner related issues are usually due to corrupt media/unknown characters in id3/exif. There's even some apps available on the Play Store that create broken jpg when taking a picture... Trying to kill the media scanner is akin to trying to cure a fever. The crash is the symptom, not the problem.
If you want to disable it, I'd imagine you could use
Code:
pm disable com.android.providers.media/com.android.providers.media.MediaScannerReceiver
This will disable scanning on boot. I'm pretty sure that's what Rescan Media does though.
I do however agree that the error handling on media scanner is piss poor, it shouldn't crash but rather skip problematic files.
Either way, all troubleshooting can be done with logcat/ddms if you feel like finding the culprit file(s).

"Auto-update apps" is disabled in google play. But same this is keep happening. Did hard reset of my phone but same issue.
i have that same problem with my tablet from ebay running 4.2.2 app DU Battery Saver & Widgets is installed without my permission and i don't even have google account on this device, but tablet is connected on wifi 24/7 and all apps are stock i have original firmware and i try to reflash device but this is happening again
Very odd... Have you tried disabling the Install from Unknown Sources option?
now it is, let's see if this will help
i have something the same problem
I bought on e-bay a Chinese 10.1" M10 type with MTK8127 chipset and Android 4.4.2 Kernel: 4.3.67 tablet.
It works great except that it is every day i get a new surprise "great" application that are installed on their own, do not ask for anything and ready to license to be posted.
The tablet was rooted with VRoot_1.7.3.4863_english_cid1005_7337ba1e_89.exe and with MtkDroidTools_v253 do full backups.
Telepütek follows so far:
27/10/2014 1:16:17 DU Battery Saver
28/10/2014. 1:07:51 Flappy Cow
10/29/2014. Happy Jump 1:39:45

31/10/2014. 1:49:11 Amazing Candle
11/1/2014. 1:28:43 Monkey (/data/app/com.candh.game.monkey-1.apk)
In addition, after each start / restart after a few minutes received a message in the notification area:
Du Battery Saver -> The key to optimize, clean up backstage power applications, rapid power
What I have tried:
Factory reset, after of course, google restore disabled and manually put up everything again.
Note that this is after factory reset the same applications in the same order almost exactly in same time per day.
The version numbera are earlier or actual that you can download from play.
The applications that I use on that device are the same that i use on other (Samsung) device so it is sure that there is no problem with them but i think the system itself compromised.
I tried Avast, Avira, eset, AirPush Block, Network connections, OS Monitor, Addons Detector, Trust - Event Logger but not found anything and I could not figure out what was happening.
I put CatLog - Logcat Reader to get it know whats happening but could not really understand what was happening.
Please help to figure it out based on the log to see what happens and how it happens and how can I get rid of this.
The following is a brief log details, of course, I will send out more on request.

It could be if you got it from anywhere but the official play store. Never install apps not from a trusted source.

I got the same apps today - Domino's PandaPop, and Cookie Jam plus Drippler. I did not install Brave Frontier, so that isn't the source.
The only things done recently for me are:
- Connected up to my work Office 365 service, which requires admin access (for wipe, etc)
- Updated su binaries a few days ago - at prompt from SuperSU
