I use Hola VPN to simulate being in Hong Kong with UFC Fight Pass so I can view FS1 cards live, I'm in the states so I can't test Netflix but it's worked for me. Plus it's completely free

Mmm not sure why, but ExpressVPN is working fine at my end. I use the USA - Dallas - 2 server and it works fine with US Netflix. I also used the Brazil - 2 server, however, it was working quite slow. Have you tried Hola? It is free and it works with Netflix. But I'm not sure if you'll like its interface. Maybe you can just get the free trial of Express and try near by server to brazil to see if you can unblock Neflix's Brazilian library. I've also heard that the Ireland library has the most titles at the moment.
maybe i just missed but windscribe works really good with Windflix servers.
It is 1 usd for any country and 1 usd for unlimited bandwith so for 2 usd you're good to go.

Tomorrow my girlfriend leaves for China for a week, and she'll be missing the usual things, facebook, youtube and such. Is there a way I can set up a VPN server on my PC so she can get connected to my machine (in Hong Kong) and get proper uncensored traffic from China? Which app should she use to connect? She has a Galaxy Note.
I tried this before (with windows 7 default server), with not much success. I can try either Windows or Kubuntu for the server, whichever is easier to work with.

Yes there are other solutions aside of ultrasurf, like Tor for Firefox, Google's own goagent (which has certain traffic limit for free users 1GB per day.), but non of which offers similar easy to use features as ultrasurf does.
The reason why most mainstream US vnp services are down in China is that those vnp providers have been blocked by Chinese government's GFW way beforehand.

The goagent I mentioned before is a universal proxy solution on both desktop and handheld platforms. Follow a step by step tutorial which can be found by Googling, set up a free account for goagent on desktop. Then download GAEProxy from market to your android device, choose goagent type of proxy, configure it with the account you set before and you are hooked up. In this way all apps like native twitter, Facebook, linked in, browsers, YouTube client are with the mighty force of Google's proxy. But for instant and light web use, I still recommended Verizon Opera.

You guy's can also make your own free VPN using Amazon ec2 instance free tier level. You need any credit card to sign up, and it's free for like 750hrs per month. If you don't have a card, then use bitcoins or Liberty Reserve/WMZ to buy a prepaid online visa. There's also plenty of CashU prepaid visa sites around http://www.prepaidvcard.com/cashu.php (note, i have no idea if site is legit or not.. do due diligence)

What country are you trying to use Google Music from? If you use a U.S. based proxy to download the Google Music Manager software and set it up you should be good to go and shouldn't need the proxy after everything has been initially setup. I would recommend checking out this guide on how to setup Google Music outside the U.S. http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/19/how-to-use-google-music-from-anywhere-yes-outside-of-the-unit/. Also Google has expanded its list of Google Music supported countries to include Australia, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, and United Kingdom. As far as legality is concerned I must disclaim that I am not a lawyer. Doing this is not illegal but it may violate Google's Terms of Service (I have no read the full Terms of Service) but they are unlikely do anything about it as many people who want to use Google Music outside the countries that are officially supported use this method. Regarding your question about is it safe to login with your Google account, there is always some amount of risk when using a proxy but overall you should be ok when using this method and shouldn't need to change your password after. You can change your password after if it makes you feel more secure, I always respect when people have privacy concerns . Also sorry for not getting back to you sooner I was out with my family for the day.

That's alright. I'm really unsure if I want to do this, I don't think security will be a very big problem (using https) + changing password before and after. Although will I be able to use google music on my phone without vpn? Can I upload music without proxy after this? Only thing keeping me away is if its against google tos

Once you set this up then you don't have to worry about using the proxy anymore, and don't need to setup a proxy on your phone. Yes, you can upload music without the proxy after the proxy is just for initial setup. I was thinking.. If I were to take a trip to one of those countries Google Play Music is available, would I manage to ''unlock'' the service there? Also would it violate TOS then?

If you singed into your Google account while connected to a internet network in one of those countries then yes it should unlock it and you should be able to use it. And that should not violate the Terms of Service as you would be in one the countries where the service is officially supported which is acceptable use :good:.

My brother are in USA, and he install teamviewer in his laptop, I connect to this laptop trought teamviewer and browse "http://play.google.com/music", and receive the message "Google Play Music are avaialable in certain countries...."
But... I try with other gmail account and works... then... I dont understand why not works with my first gmail account :S

Google Play is limited to Apps & Books in my country (as you guys know unlike iTunes you cannot change your country w/ your Google Account)
So I have been using an old Google Apps account (admin'd by my friend) + strongVPN + Entropay credit card -- yesterday 6-Feb-2014 I suddenly lost access to Play Music even w/ VPN on. I contacted my friend and he did not do anything to our Google Apps account. So it seems Google switched us to Asia/Philippines (?). I cleared payment methods on this and logged out.
I connected to VPN (USA server) on my device, created a new google account, and I got access back but now, when I add an Entropay VCC it is not working. I get an error and the transaction is canceled - I have tried the MSFT zip code trick, the Entropay zip code trick and both are not working
So right now I am stumped. I can upload music & stream to iOS/Android via the Play Music App but cannot purchase content.
Any favorites recommended that work well with the pixel 3? Looking for a non-rooted option (for now).
Blokada is the best option I can find. It's available on f-droid as well as directly from their website. Totally free and very configurable. No root required as it's using the built-in VPN functionality.
WITH ROOT, the king is Adaway for sure. Simple, lightweight and works great.
WITHOUT ROOT I'd personally recommend DNS66. Blocks host names via DNS through Android's VPN interface. Without ROOT that's as good as it gets, or another app very similar like sirebral123 mentioned above. Both are available on F-droid site.
How about just using the Brave browser? Built on chromium, faster than chrome, doesn't track you around, and it has ad blocking built in. Available in the play store and I use it on my desktop as well.

To people recommending VPN apps to block ads.... you realize you are then funneling all of your phone's network traffic through their servers, right? That would make me wildly uncomfortable.

If I find an app i like and use on a regular basis, I just pay for it and that takes care of the ads for me and supports the developer.

I use a combination of PiHole at my house/work and brave browser.

There are public apps that don't offer a pay to remove ads thing like sports score apps.
You may wanna give "adguard for android" a shot, i have a paid version, works like a charm..

Yeah but not every app has a "pay to make the ads go away" feature.
I'm rooted but prefer using Adguard. Being to disable ads for individual apps or website is a plus. Also, the app has a feature to allow the use of custom DNS which I have changed to use Cloudflare DNS. The VPN it creates is a local VPN, data DOES not get funneled to their site. i've been using adguard for over 2 years and paid lifetime. They do have a free trial
I can speak to both options. My phone and my wife's (Pixel 3 XL and Pixel 3) are both rooted and use AdAway. My sons' two phones (Huawei Mate SEs) and their tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8") are not rooted and each have a lifetime licence of AdGuard. I notice pretty much no difference in terms of what they block. I can't do an A/B spead comparison, but none of their devices seem adversely impacted by AdGuard. I very seriously considered going to the OP6T for my wife and I and going with AdGuard and no root since I am on T-Mobile and would have used the OG Pixel XL and Pixel both as trade-ins. My decision to stay with Google phones and root had nothing to do with ad blocking. In fact, the three devices with AdGuard are easy enough to root. The Mates are BL unlocked, and the S2 is pretty easy already. Any difference between AdGuard and AdAway is simply not worth giving them root access that they don't need.
How do the VPN ad-blockers (like AdGuard) affect battery life? I assume they use more than Adaway or other root methods.

Me too. Pi Hole is really good. Easy to install on a Raspberry Pi and it blocks ads and spyware on all devices connected to your network. Should you encounter a web site which doesn't work it is easy to suspend Pi Hole for a predertermined time, or until you re-enable it. A nice little project on very cheap hardware. You don't need the most expensive Raspberry Pi either - but I would recomment connecting it via ethernet so if anyone is interested make sure you buy a Pi with an ethernet socket.

Before anyone asks, no, I don't want a cracked / pirated version with no ads and unlimited skips and so on. I just want an APK of the original Pandora app that simply allows me to use it outside of the US but is otherwise identical to what you get from the play store, preferably the latest version available.
I already pay for a subscription and use the app through the browser with the help of a proxy on my laptop. I just want to use Pandora with my paid subscription on my Android phone.

how about using a vpn? Just a thought. I know this doesn't answer your question or provide the apk...but it could be a work around?
