What the heck Xiaomi RULES - Xiaomi Mi 5 Guides, News, & Discussion

I buyed MI5 FOR 25K AND NOW I WANT TO UNLOCK AND FLASH CUSTOM ROM BUT THIS THIS XIAOMI BULL**** SAYS ME ASK PERMISSION FOR UNLOCK OK I ASKED NOW HE SAYS WAIT FOR 10-12 DAYS OK I M WAITING , CONGRATS I GOT PERMISSION NOW I M GOING TO UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER BUT NOW THEY SAY ME TO DOWNLOAD 1.3GB DEV ROM TO UNLOCK BECAUSE YOU CANT UNLOCK ON GLOBAL STABLE ROM WHAT THE HELL IS THIS MAN , TWICE GREATER THAN XIAOMI , COMPANIES LIKE HTC , SAMSUNG ALLOW USERS TO UNLOCK AND USE THEIR PHONE THE WAY THE LIKE THEN WHY IS THIS IDIOT COMPANY RULES ARE SO RIDICULOUS , DO SOMETHING I WILL NOT FOLLOW THIS **** RULES , IS THEIR ANYWAY TO SUE THIS COMPANY FOR THIS BULL**** RULES ? PLZ DONT TELL ME THAT ITS FOR MY OWN GOOD , THEIR ARE LOT OF WAYS YOU CAN GET HACKED ON OFFICIAL OS WITH LOCKED BOOTLOADER TOO SO PLZ

I know exactly how you feel. All I can say, go through the pain of bootloader unlocking, recovery flash and get on a custom ROM(I use RR myself) and never ever go back to MIUI. That's what I've done and I'm very happy now.

So, you got the permission like everybody else, and you still screaming all over the place? ....

First of all:
You don't read, but prefer to complain.
If you want to read how to do it, go to official forum and read there.
It's black on white. Even a 10th grade cand do it once he read and understand all the steps.
Seccond: why is Xiaomi to blaim for you incompetence to understand plain english and lack of attention reading 10-15 mandatory steps?
Third: You are getting the persmision to unlock the bootloader but you are still complaining, when there are many more .. not yet receiving the permision.
What are you doing here?! This is not official forum. Nobody can't help you here. You have to go to xiaomi forum to complain about your skills.

Now you pull the internet gangster? geeez, grow up kid....
@gxg, well said man.

First off. More and more devices are being locked down. Remember that you own the hardware not the software. So unless you are gonna make your own bootloader and device drivers then you play by their rules.
Second off this is a development forum not a support page. Let alone for this OEM.

[Q] X10 multitouch without rooting?

Hi, i don't know if this is the correct place to ask, but i have this user who claimed to (might be the first in the world as i speak) have enabled X10 multitouch without rooting his device.
As i try to reason with him that he is wrong and might be getting the wrong information, he speaks even bolder and louder (even to a point of doubting the wonderful guys here at XDA of their hardwork?)
He was trying to sell his used X10 on a local forum.
The link is here:
forum.lowyat.net/topic/1731902
Below are quoted from him
Most important things that i never HACK or ROOT my X10i for this multitouch input ( Believe me i have my own legal way that not break the law )

Sure it dont make sense for you because you think only XDA Developers can do it only not even Sony Ericsson Company can do it with out rooting and flashing the phone but do you use your big brains to think Sony Ericsson Updates over their own Firmwares and Please Open Your Big 2 Balls of eyes Japan Have its own multitouch update by Sony Ericsson so is that proving it root or flashing the phone ?
So think before you say anything in Lowyat Forum Sony Ericsson have its own people to make those updates , XDA Developers is based in roothing and flashing phone and i have my own way to do it. Anything possible to happen in this earth only you are the one who dont understand and keep saying XDA Developers can do it with rooting and flashing the phone.
My last word is if you so believe on XDA Developers why don`t you do their follower dont believe in other people only believe in XDA Developers. Example there was a people coming to tell you there is a fire on top of your hse and you dont believe and sitting there stupidly waiting for those so called XDA Developers come to save your life.

Thanks for reading.
you gave him a good answer hahaha house on fire haha... on my side.. I BELIVE IN XDA and i appriciate all the peoples hard work for all the rooting and other things..
that boy is just trying to sell his phone for i good price.. maybe it is true but i dont belive it until i see it.. i think he is just kidding whit people on that forum.. i would always first follow the guides on xda to root and dual touch reather then ask him for his method haha LOL root your phone and have fun

Hi,
Didn`t had the patience to read all your post but this is THE FACT
You CAN flash Dualtouch without root.
Q: Can i gent DT work?
A: Yes
Q: Does it work on every apps?
A: No. For that you must be rooted.
Using THIS tool and follow THIS guide.
Now some info.
When you use the flashtool you`re using the same file format that SE uses (dispite it has been renamed to *.ftf files to work with this tool) so, after flash you won`t get rooted.
When you flash the dualtouch.ftf file you are in fact flashing your kernel without affcting anything else ´cause this kernel file was "taken" from an original SE release in Japan.
So you can say to your "friend" that he`s right and you are wrong and if you had any dough try it.
You only have root acces IF and ONLY IF your press "Root" button on that tool.

How about that you read the sticky threads, references in there and stop asking questions that have been answered about zillion times? This board has about half million of active users, if everyone starts posting similar junk, we are seriously doomed.

Go ask your lawyer. Flashing an official FW does not affect warranty in countries with sane legal system. Nor does flashing whatever piece of junk void your warranty for HW defects (again, in countries with sane legal system.)
Just wait till monday! . Mik is coming with a new release today or tomorrow. It's going to reveal some very good things. Also Mik will hopefully release two patches to resolve baseband issues in a few days. That will nullify the need to flash baseband if users don't want to flash baseband.
If you can't wait this much, flash official gb via kdz or lgmdp while following the instructions carefully.
Rooting, flashing voids your warranty. One should be very careful while reading instructions. If one follows instructions carefully, chances of brick are less than 1%.
If you are plain unlucky and brick your device somehow, you may go to service center and act as a noob and just tell them you tried to upgrade from lg pc suite and something wrong happened. Here there is 90% chance that you will get a replacement.
Keeping all these things in mind, you can take a decision.

Rude? WTH. You are asking in the wrong place. Again - you need to ask someone who is familiar with your local legal system to answer questions about warranty. Not here. N.B. that manufactures' claims about voiding warranty are often illegal and have no effect in reality if people are really willing to assert their rights.

He is not rude in any way but i believe i can use some other words to explain you. Ans beauty is he has explained you quite well though it different manner.
Flashing any ROM and rooting can affect your warranty, but those are country specified. Like in India we can't have warranty after rooting(Lg people are rally don't know what is rooting and all they just keep replacing hardware and some time whole device) but doktornotor said they have at least hardware warranty even after flashing custom ROM.
If you care so much about the warranty, you should not have joined the xda community in first place. Stuck with the old official ROM with no root and enjoy the laggy, less performance and less battery.
If you need best ROM, best performance and no lags- Stop worrying about the warranty.

Did you try flashing the unlock sbf first with RSD Lite?
It's painful how unhelpful people are around here.
Did you already update to 2.3.4 over the Motorola servers? I thought I remember people saying that you're unable to unlock the bootloader on the final release build of GB :<

You can still unlock, you will just have a soft brick that will fix when you issue the unlock commands. You just have to make sure that you use the fruitcakes through CWM if you need to go to an earlier build or else you will hard brick.

Actually it was constructive. If you had read the guide per another poster's advice, you would not have then been back asking how to get out of trouble because you chose to ignore the given advice!
There is plenty of good help given and offered on XDA, but it's the people who ignore the help/advice, forge ahead blindly, then expect the forum members to fix their screw ups because now they suddenly choose to listen to the advice who really make it difficult to keep a positive attitude.

So if we follow the reasoning.
Read the post. And if you're wrong, too bad for you.
it is a beautiful spirit.
I prefer to say "to err is human" but we are here to help. The best thing is to learn from mistakes (but I'm sure you've never made a mistake). And I must say thanks to those who helped me. I will not make the same mistake.
I can even help those who have made the same mistake without insulting them.
And the kind of comments like yours do not learn.
Now I think the discussion can't stop there! And as we say at home: "A bonne entendeur salut!"
Galadiel, I don't believe that is what happened here. The way this conversation unfolded, your messages started off asking a philosophical question "Why is it desired to unlock the bootloader?" and very quickly turned into "Help, I tried it but something went wrong." From your description, the specific problem you had is a well-documented issue that is described in the instructional link you were given to read, including how to fix it.
There are a lot of people trying to modify their phones. That's why the tutorials exist. Your posts sounded dismissive of the help offered to you, and not surprisingly, you got some annoyed responses in return.
----------
Okay then. Are you still having the "Failed to boot" screen appear after flashing the .sbf file with RSD Lite? Have you resolved your situation, or do you still need help?

actually the verizon sgs3 does have a locked bootloader. so it is not always the manufacturer that makes the decisions. in the us the carriers have much more input especially in regards to updates. att just recently began updates to 4.12.
have a look at this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756338 they are all samsung galaxy s 3 but none are identical . some are exynos , some are snapdragon. ram , video boards, radios all different variants. that is why it is important to know your device
All the US versions are the same hardware... Besides Radio related stuff...
