Flashed my Xperia X on low battery - Sony Xperia X Questions & Answers

Hi guys, I made the silly mistake of flashing my Xperia X on low battery as I wanted stock firmware on it. Everything works greatsexcept the charging aspect of things. It only charges up to 50% while the phone is on and it just stops charging after that, however If I completely switch off the phone and start charging it will charge all the way to 100%. I cant always switch off my phone to charge to get a full charge, I have tried to re-install the same firmware on a full charge but no change. Anyone know how I can fix this so I can charge 100% without having to turn it off completely. Have also tried all sorts of charger etc, same result. . Please help

Hava you tried draining the battery completely and then charging it to 100% before turning it on, then draining it completely again before charging once more? It may just need a full battery cycle.

It sounds to me that you wiped the "QNOVO" box when you flashed. I had read that you never have to wipe that, as you will delete the battery configuration unique to each device.
Try to restore it using Xperia Companion.

Yes, I have tried that, still no luck, very strange that it charges fully when off, but not when its on

ST17i shuts down at 30% battery

Hi folks,
my Xperia Active shuts down at 25-30%. I tried to calibrate, but occurs after few full-charges again. phone is rooted, using latest stock ROM 2.3.4. Any ideas? I mean if you have an experience with it - gimme any hints / step-by-step advises. THX many times!!!
I would try to delate battery cache, discharge it few times and format it.i have had this same problem but after them few steps my batt work normaly. What i think your battery was not formated properly on the very start of using it.

If you've tried calibrating the battery and thats not work it might be that the batterys faulty. Try a different battery and see if that works.

the battery MUST be ok, as it is only 2.5 months in use in the phone. It worked and after I re-flashed the standard ROM, it worked a few charges and now it went crazy. the Battery Monitor Widget is not able to detect the battery capacity (mAh) and when charging, it indicated 100% at almost 4.00 V, where it shall be 4.2V as 100%.
I will completely discharge the phone, and when it shuts down, will put it to the charger, turn it on, calibrate - erase the battery info, unplug, discharge untill it will completely turn off, charge it with phone being OFF and the, after it will be completely fully charged, turn it on.
will see where the rabbit hole goes...

Sony Ericsson Xperia mini battery calibration problem

Hi, all
I have a problem in my SE xperia mini, after rooting with zergrush version 4 and running the script the fixes overheating problem, I got my battery miscalibrated,
the battery indicator goes from 15% to 1% in a second then warning of shutting down,
I have tried the two highest rated battery calibration on market but it gets worse
It started to shut down at 11% then at 15% now at 17%
is there any tool that can fix that problem, please note that I'm running version 4.0.2.a.0.42 and I only rooted the phone without flashing any custom ROMs
thanks a lot in advance
There is no such thing as battery calibration for Android.
That is because batteries do not have any kind of memory effect. NONE AT ALL.
Even this batterystats.bin file doesn't affect anything, it only contains information about what has used battery and how much, only for the battery usage page.
Don't believe me, go check the link in my signature.
why nt try another battery buddy...?

thank you but I don't think it is a hardware issue but I may try that if software solutions failed
ok buddy i also have xperia mini and i faced the overheat problem and i was on v 62 firmware so i downgrade to v 42 then root the phone and used the gscript and
now the phone works fine no problems now you tell me that u have a kind
battery problem so as you said the problem is software and you have 2 possible
solutions :
1- try to unroot your phone
2 - upgrade your phone to v 62 and dont be afraid the overheat problem
wont come back in the new version 62 or any time
try and tell us the results
I have the same problem but I'm getting 52% to 0%.
I tried battery calibration with app and cwm battery wipe. No success.
Read somewhere today that charging battery with the phone off and don't let it charging for a long time can solve the problem.
I'll give it a try.
I have it stock and rooted, no alternative rom instaled.

As I said, there is no such thing as battery calibration.
Also, there is no such thing as too long charging. Charging is stopped via specific onboard circuit, if battery is full so there is no chance of overcharging.

Overheat problem exists in 62 too. What he can do is update over the air (OTA) to 62 to maintain root.

I don't know if changes remain after flashing rom but there is no need to loose root since it's not necessary to unroot for updating. That way he can run the script again if he faces the problem again.
I tried just one time.
I let the phone die with no battery and fully charged it with power off.
Now it's ok again.
Give it a try.

Dear all,
I found a solution for this problem, I hope it will be useful for people that are facing it
after my battery was totally discharged and the phone shut down, I removed the battery ... waited for a while .. then inserted it again ... powered on the phone with charger cabled plugged .. then the phone started to charge normally again 1% 2% 3% ..etc and when it was fully charged I unplugged the charger, it drained normally to 1%
thank you all for your tips.

I have this same problem and i get consistent shut downs at 72% then 53% and every few minutes of usage afterward however this is on my Xperia Play! So perhaps this is a similar issue, I've been needing to solve this for a long time and hope this works! I'll try it asap but I can never seem to fully drain my battery! So I'll just leave the machine for a week and see if it drains! (crosses fingers + Knocks on wood)

I think those calibrate apps only reset the battery stat.
Sent from Hubble Telescope
In case of a sudden drop in battery level to 0%, Sony tech service recommends that you fully charge the battery with the wall charger and then remove all power sources to the phone (no battery, no USB cable) for 5 to 10 minutes, return the battery and power up the phone and then recharge back to 100%. If the sudden drop was due to a problem with the power meter, then you should see a drop in battery % when you turn your phone back on.
Google says reseting the battery stats is useless: http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...-battery-stats-does-not-improve-battery-life/
hi thanks for suggestions but there is no sudden drop in battery instead it only restarts and the battery level remains same after restart..
also I've tried wiping battery stats and process as said by justmpm it didn't work out...is it an h/w problem or battery issue ?

Are you undervolting? Because a stable setting at full power may not be stable when the battery is depleted.....
I flashed stock ftf file of .587 to confirm that kernal isn't undervolting and still problem exists,

[Q] [Xperia U] how to know if the battery is already 100% Full( not 100% Charging)

hello, just want to ask about charging indication. i remember when it was on GB, the thunder icon when charging is disappearing when the battery goes 100% full. but in ICS, the thunder icon is always there even if it is 100% full already. is there an easy way to know if it is 100% full(not 100% charging) without looking to settings>power management>battery over and over again? thank you very much in advance.
Not the easiest way, but I like it -
try a widget of Battery Monitor
When it shows 2-7mA charge then battery is full 100%

thanks for the apps suggestion, but doesnt it consume so much ram? ive read somewhere that battery apps consumes ram too much, but thank you for replying i will still try to wait for some more suggestion and maybe it is better if i dont need to install other apps. but again sir thank you very much. ill hit thanks on you.
Don't worry, I use the Battery Monitor about one year,on my other phone, and had never seen it eating ram. Just checked on xsola, Battery Monitor uses 3.8MB and there was no reboot in last 3-4 days.
The trickle is in the charger

The originaly charger that is included in the box of the xperia u emits a very treble sound when is connected to the wall but not connected to the phone that dissapear when the phone is connected and charging. I don't know, but try it. Connect the charger to the wall without connect the phone and try to listen if emits a sound. If yes, connect the phone and listen if the sound disappear. In this case, this method work on your phone too.

I dont really notice how much percent per hour, coz i usually charge till full. From 0 to full likely take 3-4 hour. Both using magnetic or usb charger.
