few updates today folks, the 5.1.1 kernel has some other more changes compared to the 6.0.1 version currently as im having problems getting some of the changes to work on the newer kernel.

keep an eye on cpu temps if your running device hard at high clock speeds as these two high end clock speeds are highly experimental, they seem to be stable for me but your mileage may vary.

Afternoon all,
recently got myself a older model J5 as my daily use phone, (got rid of my previous S5Mini for various reasons, one being samsungs insistance on badly designed code in the kernel and general instability) and have started playing around with kernel changes already and unlike on the s5mini the changes appear to be incredibly stable and make a very noticable difference to the device performance.
please make sure you pick the correct download for your android version as the 5.1.1 kernel WILL NOT WORK ON 6.0.1 AND VICE VERSA
first up a basic changelog of what i have changed or added to the stock j5 kernel

build with linaro 4.8 toolchain with tweaks for the cortex-A53
1.88Ghz CPU Overclock as standard
720mhz GPU Overclock
multiple cpu governors included (alucard, intel, yankactive, hyper, electrodemand, intelliactive, bluactive, zzmoove, smartmax, interactive, userspace, powersave, bioshock and performance)
Adreno Ideler support
MSM_Hotplug, mpdecision, alucard_hotplug, MSM_Sleeper
adjustable cpu thermal throttle
GPU Minimum clock now 100mhz
Forced USB Fast Charge (untested)
few new i/o schedulers added( zen and sio)
adaptive LMK enabled for hopefully better memory management performance
user-selectable option to enable/disable mmc crc support (upto 30% i/o performance boost by disabling this )
user-selectable disable/enable fsync
user-selectable ARCH_POWER on/off
power suspend added
lots of new tcp congestion algos added,
other various tweaks for A53 and general performance
this seems to be perfectly stable for me ive had no lockups or crashes on my device but your mileage may vary.
using the kernel adiutor from play store should allow most of the tweaks to be controlled.
zip for flashing in twrp is in the downloads section of this post,
let me know how you get on folks and any suggestions will be considered

looks like it work on cm12.1 Temasecversion too, not only on stock rom
i tested on j500F
all work- wifi,network, gps, audio.....
usb conection work only adb, mtp not work
i dont get that overclok values for cpu, it show me 200-1190Mhz
and gpu have 200-310-400Mhz
that on first impresion

ok overclock i expected some issues on, im going to flash back to stock later and look at it as i think its the zip causing the problem - and lack of mtp will likely be down to using cm rather than stock

I dont used your zip!
I extracted the zimage from your zip and mounted it in boot.img
then flashed with recovery TWRP

that will be why then, as you need to replace dtb and zimage (hence the zip to do it) dtb is where most of the controls for overclock are

yep the dtb is what holds most of the frequency stuff on msm chips now so it needs updated too

ok let me know, the zip file definately works fine on the fn ive just tried it myself from stock (zip would keep your current boot img ramdisk intact by the way it unpacks the boot.img and repacks it with the new files leaving ramdisk intact)

i havent got a bootable marshmallow to test with yet lol - the j500fn does not have it yet
edit: though technically the kernel should probably boot MM as its more ramdisk that changes
