I've ordered the g5 but now I've seen from quite a few videos that the camera stutters really badly while recording, could anyone tell me if there is a fix for this/ whether theres also does. You can see from this link it is especially bad with the wide angle camera.

I can confirm i have the same problem. Sometimes the recordings are nearly free of stutter and sometimes the recordings are like the one from youtube.
I've not yet found a satisfactory solution.

[Q] Camera help

Never noticed this, since I rarely use my p500h camera. Today I recorded some small videos and took some photos. I noticed the image gets deformed if the phone is subject to some vibration, I recorded a sample where I moved the phone way more and well the effect is more evident now, is it normal behaviour for these kind of cameras?
Check the video to see what Im talking about:
youtube video

Post the link correctly. Can't see the video.
HERE IS THE LINK http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxntHjcIe2U
and it looks like to me you might just need to be a lil more carful when you take video cause i was able to duplicate what happened to your video with mine but i had to move the camera a lot like i was practicly shaking it and any camera will do that if you move it too much i have never had a problem with my video yea it can get shaky at times but its a none HD 3.2 mega pxel camera on a phone so i dont expect much what ROM are you running im not sure if it matters but i wondering ???

Problems with the floating lens.

Hello XDA,
I have a problem with my video recording on my Lumia 920 and I believe it is caused by the floating lens. While recording, if I tilt the phone up and down at a resonably low speed, I get a strange shaking effect and the device records a sound too. I will post a video recorded on the 920 to show you what I mean.

Do you think I can fix this myself?? I don't really want to return the device.

"this video is private"
And no, if you are having a hardware problem, it's going to need to be fixed by nokia.
The video is now public. Sorry for that.
Sounds to me like it is the lens settling in your camera after a quick shift in movement. The springs trying to steady the camera will cause that blurring effect. As to how you would fix that, I'm not sure. I havent noticed anything like that in my phone, but I have yet to try that test with my phone personally.
Disable continuous focus and you should be fine.
I've tested mine and it doesn't do this at all. I'm pretty sure you have a hardware fault so you'll need to get it replaced.

Better camera and video capture with third party apps?

I've seen a few posts about how camera 360 takes better pictures than stock and how camera zoom fx fixes the poor video capture and audio. I have yet to find any comparison samples though, especially of the supposedly better video. Would like if someone would upload a video to youtube with audio if they are feeling generous.

I haven't had any issues with my camera or video. I hope the link works that I posted, hopefully you aren't a Green Bay fan Considering the distance I was shooting at, not too bad quality and stability. I had it zoomed in maybe about 1/2 way or a little more, then when I panned to the crowd, I zoomed back out a bit. Stock DNA, stock camera. I did try to use the Movie app to tie these two videos together but it said something was wrong with my files!? Tried several times and was disappointed, tried lower resolution, etc. but it would not go. I did use Movie Aid to stitch these together but that's it.

Video quality

Your friends are never going to believe what you did. The only way to prove it to them is with that video you took. Rate this thread to express how videos shot on the Xiaomi Mi A1 come out. A higher rating indicates that videos are smooth (and not choppy) and that auto-focus works very well, and that the camera adjusts quickly to different lighting conditions while recording.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Guys, could you please comment on audio quality on videos made with this device. On few video reviews people mentioned that sound is kind of choppy or glitchy. Looks like noise reduction isn't utilized, when Mi A1 shoots video. As workaround they mention that it can be solved by shooting video by a 3rd party app (FV-5).
I'm thinking to buy this device, but this bug is holding me from it.

Yes it is
Take a look here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8qgfwQwRbI
Then see this example too - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-ncyEPZIds
For me, video seems way more pixelated than it should be when zooming, even in 4K. 4x zoom should be 1080p and it doesn't look like it is, and I can't see an option to use the zoom lens either. And 4K isn't selected by default.
Considering the lack of EIS and OIS it's not good, but not really bad. Avoid shooting videos in low light - they will be awful and they will have a lot of frames dropped.
Without any kind of EIS or OIS, MiA1 is not ideal for video recording.

I tried using the GCam HDR+ with its EIS and to be honest.. I have to really hold the phone as steady as possible and also in walking slowly, the end result is a bit much better than using the camera app by xiaomi..
the quality overall improved a lot, but for usable footage I guess a dedicated gimbal is needed
Pixelation is algo a problem for me. I think that the video is a little bit dark too.
Even using the Google Camera, it's something better but it's not good for me. At least the EIS helps to stabilize the video but the quality is far from good.

Man, I think the same thing. It's very weird to see the video so pixelated even using Google Camera. Sometimes it really looks like a low resolution video upscaled to a more resolution.

Question Pixel 6 Video Call Quality

Hi everyone, I haven't seen anything in the threads mention anything about this but I've been trying to use my phone for video calls and it's god awful. It looks zoomed in and it's just blurry looking in every app that I've tried so far including Google's own Duo application. I have never been so embarrassed by a phone until yesterday when my friend asked what kind of phone I have. I was like I had a Pixel its made by Google the creators of android and asked to video call someone just to hear the person on the other end of the call say whats wrong with ya connection the picture looks horrible.
Came home and Duo called myself from my Samsung A72 and wow it looks like utter crap. On the other hand, the budget Samsung A72 was looking great, not to mention the A72 has the ability to record 4k with its front camera as well. I was thinking the latest update would fix this but nothing. This may definitely be a deal-breaker for me.
One more thing, does anyone else's background looks orange/yellow when taking a selfie that has a wall background?
Is anyone else having this issue with their Pixel?
I have used only Viber and Telegram calls and quality was fine. I haven't tested Duo yet. Maybe you could try with other application...
I have the same problem with my Pixel 7.
Quality on WhatsApp, Viber, Messenger, Instagram, and its own google app for video calling, its just bad .i mean for a phone that you give solid amount of money should make the job for the most common task, video calling.
To mention that camera is perfectly fine when using it from phone.Just in apps it's really bad.
Hopefully it get fixed with future updates.
Front camera is plain bad. Small sensor and bad software. It's the same camera since Pixel 2...
I fixed photos quality by installing Google Camera mod with some personal settings, but video quality is terrible...

Try to set a native aspect ratio (4:3), disable EIS, and zoom all the way out.... if your software allows it.
The "default" way to capture video from that camera tends to be in 16:9, EIS, and zoomed in a bunch. All of these cause the image to be cropped. EIS uses a buffer zone around the captured video and moves the selection around in it to stabilize the video.
Unfortunately, most video chat programs don't allow these kind of controls.
