Just letting you know that a root method has been found to this device. I would like to start building a custom rom to help block TM from all their crap on the phone. I will be uploading a video later today to teach people how to root this device.

Hey. Respect to the another one post about porting the Android Lollipop from another phone, I think that I know where is the problem...
So... I have had a Galaxy S2(i9100), and when some Developers stars creating ROMS based in 5.1 it was not possible to be installed because the CWM (recovery) was not compatible and the developers haves to update it using the code from another CWM from another phone that for the day can supports Android 5.1

Thank you!
Since it's the same msm8916
Code:
ro.chipname=MSM8916
Porting this to Grand Prime 3G and LTE shoouldn't be a problem.
Let's start with the port (but official LP for those variants shouldn't last any longer).
Ahh I misread. Did you get the SM-G530T rooted @allenjthomsen
Didnt root it at all

Hey there. Popping in to say that rooting this phone will be a difficulty. Remember that shiny new S6E that T-Mobile is selling? Updating it to 5.1.1/past 5.0.2 will enable /system block checks. So if you try to mess around with the system partition (even as to R/W mode), it will bootloop. You need to build a kernel that doesn't enforce block checking! http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...recovery-twrp2-8-6-0-g925t-5-1-1-of6-t3143002
Good luck! I like this device and I'll plan on picking it up soon.
Edit: it's possibly only enabled for Exynos...who knows, someone'll find out.

Talk about a huge pain... Glad the phone is more secure they haven't even released the source code for this kernel yet.
---------- Post added at 11:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:34 PM ----------
Actually once they release the source code for the kernel this shouldn't be too hard https://github.com/glewarne/S6-UniKernel_v6/commit/8daac6bb0b3bd07f6a7a9f3d529b430bfd12b1aa
I'm pleased to announce: Dear Customer,

Pardon my not knowing @$#/ but how can I sink my bloatware and root my grand prime s-g530t? With all these number sentences... 3hatever they are?

GPT partition, motorola.update_gpt, custom recovery.

Hello XDA,
I wanted to know if anyone knows about this "partition" or porting the proprietary command motorola.update_gpt to TWRP.
I know we can flash the gpt.bin via fastboot I know it is more than one actual partition from the output fastboot gives.
I know rsd lite or rsd can flash this as well with filename="gpt.bin" operation="flash" partition="partition"/> from the flashfile.xml contents. This gives me less info to go on as it calls the partition "partition".
When looking into the device I get the list of partitions by name and get no partition called "partition".

Any info would be greatly appreciated. (the answer or where to find it)
Don't quote me on this, but isn't the gpt just a partition table?

I know that is the case for pc hard-disks and possibly that is what is confusing but I have a gpt.bin (32kb) file that I need to flash. Without this I am not able to update to latest firmware.
I take my question back thanks to SuperR I was able to find the answer I was looking for.
What did SuperR say?

Hey @amadorsg1 , what was the answer here?
I'm curious because the latest Moto Z update bringts 4 of those update_gpt calls too and fvckih is asking for a gpt update here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77026822&postcount=13
Cheers

I need help with compiling CM-13 for my device, I've been following AlaskaLinuxUser's guide for building the device tree from scratch. I'm stuck at one point when building that I just can't figure out though, can anyone help me please?
