Original MIUI Roms - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hello Community,
I got my Note 3 Pro (SD) one week ago.
Unfortunatly I recieved the Phone with the MIUI Global Stable 7.3.6.0.0 (LHOCNDD).
I was looking what Original MIUI Stock Roms also exist.
There is a Global Dev, a Global Stable LHOCNDD, LHOMIDD, a Chinese Stable and Chinese Dev.
Can someone please help me to clarify which Rom is for what. I also would be happy about any recommondations of a rom.
Thanks for your help guys!
Bets regards,
stinkelefant
P.S Maybe I should add that I live in Austria.

You should do some research, as these questions have already been answered.
But to clarify it short.
There are:
Global: stable and dev (for International users, Google services included)
China: stable and dev (for chineese users, no Google play services, a lot of chineese apps).
Stable means stable, updated probably once a month
Dev is updated once a week. May contain new features and bugs.
So its your choice which one you want to use.

Thank you very much!

Oh, and I forgot one thing. Chineese roms don't include International languages (only chineese and English), the global roms mostly do include them

ROM Suggestion

Hello,
I'm a new purchaser of a Redmi Note 4 Pro (MediaTek), and was just hoping to get clarification of what ROM class I should use.
Currently my phone seems to have a Chinese Stable Rom installed (it has MIUI 8.5 | Stable , 8.5.2.0(MBFCNED), as it does not have the Google Apps by default and it has the Mi App Store, mostly in Chinese.
I'm looking probably for a Global rom, I'm willing to try a custom, if reputable ROM. I specifically need both English language and Korean language input capability, and if the system can be in Korean too that's a plus.
Thanks for the advice, and if any more information is needed please advise.
Mediatek = no custom ROMs, except for MIUI ports like those in Xiaomi.eu (that includes Korean too). Use the nikel custom ROMs, not mido (mido is Qualcomm version).

Meizu 16 / 16th - how to switch from global to Chinese Rom?

Hello all,
I just got my new Meizu 16 global (SD845) and I am wondering if it makes sense to switch to the Chinese Rom right away due to better Rom support.
Could you give recommendations or suggest...
- if it makes sense to flash the Chineses rom
- how to flash the Chinese Rom
- how to safely install the google apps
I would really appreciate a feedback since I don't want to begin now with the global rom if it is actually better to use the Chinese version.
Thanks a lot!
Jan

If someone can test it and tell us if Android Auto is working, it'll be very usefull.
As I've to send back the phone I can't test to flash it.
I'll test it as soon as I can unlock my bootloader, unfortunately it seems you have to wait a few days before you can unlock (the unlock tool tells me "cannot unlock until 180 hours", I'm assuming that's what it means right? That I have to wait 7 days?)

From a review I saw on YT that compared the K20 (with China rom) with the Mi 9T (with Global rom) they were saying that with China rom (I assume dev?) Android Auto was working, while it wasn't on the Global rom.
So I think it would work if you use the dev rom (China or XiaomiEU which is based on china). In the stable one doesn't work yet.

I use the recovery from the page: `https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-9t/development/unofficial-twrp-xiaomi-k20-flashable-mi-t3942518`, and this ROM. After installing the ROM, the K20 cannot boot up, and it always boot into the recovery. Has anyboy has the same problems?

Thanks I've understand a bit, yes (I'm French, Italy isn't so far ) - Well what I'm wondering is why the Xiaomi.eu ROM doesn't let Android Auto to be used then, since I'm pretty sure it's based on the China ROM.. Right ?
It is based on China, but this first build is based on China STABLE rom. My theory is that Android auto is fixed in the DEV China rom. So we will probably need to wait until xiaomi EU starts building dev roms or for xiaomi to integrate the fixes in the next stable rom
10.3.9.0 added in OP.
Hi, new at XDA.

Erf thanks for the update.
I'll return it and go for a Oneplus 7 then. Not same budget but pretty bored to "try" phones.
I just got my Mi 9t (global version, Germany) and I am on fw 10.3.8.
How can I update to 10.3.9?
I downloaded the FW and activated advanced updates but the updater tells me everytime that this is not an official release.
Thanks for the help.
Anyone know how to set ringtones for messages app on xiaomi.eu?

Nice, only problem is getting Google contacts to sync after installing Google play services on China MIUI via the Google installer. Everything else works including the Google play store apart from contacts sync. Otherwise China Dev ROMs always have more cool features. Anyone able to share how to sync their Google contacts on China Dev MIUI ROMs

MIUI 12 for curtana

Hello.
Has anybody tried fastboot version of MIUI12 for curtana? https://mirom.ezbox.idv.tw/en/phone/curtana/
you can find other version here https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/curtana/
Installed and being trying it for 3 days now. Everything works perfectly. For my day to day usage I can't say I've noticed any big differences from MIUI 11 (I was using xiaomi.eu 11.0.11.0). Usage does feel smoother and the battery does last longer, although I have no documented evidence to show. I removed the bloatware as per the 11.0.10.0 guide and I've found no bugs. All in all I'm happy with this ROM.
Edit: Just wanted to meantion the MIUI camera app. There are no added features. No clone mode and no kaleidoscope mode. The only difference from the MIUI 11 camera app is the new MIUI 12 visual.

Hey @gde.spencer , can you help me to choose the right firmware?
What is the difference between Recovery and Fastboot? Or do you need both?
Which is the better version Global or EEA?

The fastboot version is installed via MiFlash whilst the phone is in fastboot mode. Use this to flash "as new".
The recovery version is like an OTA update (I think. Never used one).
I don't know which version is better (global vs eea) because I flash as a base for custom roms.
I have the Redmi Note 9s 6/128GB Global Model.
I want to flash the Indian Firmware so I will get the MIUI contacts and dialer (and call recorder).
Can someone please check if the Indian ROM has the HEBREW language, it should look like this:"עברית" under languages.
I will be glad for your help.

Thank you a lot my good friend, I will now flash it
For anyone else wondering, the Turkish fastboot ROM (QJWTRXM) installs fine on a global Note 9S (QJWMIXM). Everything works as far as I can tell, and all the languages are there (though call recording isn't, at least in the default Google Dialer app).

Recovery is the "OTA" ROM you install with MIUI's built-in update mechanism or a custom recovery like TWRP. Fastboot is a bit more low-level, you restart your phone into fastboot mode, connect it to a computer and use a program that manually overwrites the data on the phone's partitions, a bit like using dd on Linux or disk cloning/backup software. There's also EDL mode, which is the same as fastboot but it's built into the hardware itself, so it works even if you manage to brick fastboot somehow. On recent Xiaomi phones, it requires an authorized Mi account (or a patched ROM, or someone willing to sell you authorizations over the internet).
Global and EEA are pretty much the same thing, but EEA ROMs are intended for the European Economic Area (the EU) so they have to comply with additional regulations like having to let you choose your browser and search engine or something. As a side note, I live in the EU and pretty much every store over here is selling the Global variant of the 9S instead of the EEA one. Global ROMs are "better" in the sense that they tend to be more up to date (as of me writing this, global is on MIUI V11.0.11 and EEA is still stuck on V11.0.4).
