Lock Screen Issue

Guys
I have searched the forum but cant find anything like this. When ever i set the screen lock it doesnt work, it ONLY works when i put a PIN on the device. I dont really want a pin on the device, just the screen to lock when it in my pocket.... any advice??
Oh this was working, but just suddenly stopped, I have tried factory resets but still nothing.....
Do you mean your lock slider stopped appearing? That's what just happened to mine. PITA when it's in its pouch because it keeps launching. Am trying to find a fix.
yes thats it. It just doesnt show any lock screen, but if i put a pin on the device it works fine, well except for showing a pin entry request which i dont want
OK, hello everybody.
I bump this one, because it's my issue too.
The fact is: at beginning the phone was ok. After screen went off, and when I turned it on, it used to show only the slide button, that used to unlock the phone, and that was all.
That was OK.
AFTER I SET UP AN EXCHANGE ACCOUNT (I make it twice: second time after a ROM Upgrade) the phone has FORCED ME to store a pin, and now the "request pin/password to unlock phone" function CANNOT BE TURNED OFF.
So, when screen goes down I MUST:
1) Click the on/off button
2) slide the on screen button
3) type in the unlock PIN and press "unlock"
Any way, any idea to disable ONLY THE 3 ??
Thank you
EDIT: HTC support understands NOTHING I'll keep this thread updated if any solution will be found...
EDIT 2: THE SOLUTION
Ok, after a long search: here's the solution (it's not spam: it's the solution to a problem)
http : // www . etenblog.com/2008/01/21/disable-exchange-security-policy-for-windows-mobile-devices/
and this is the original author:
http : // dedjo . blogspot.com/2007/12/how-to-disable-exchange-security-policy.html
(remove extra spaces)
DISABLE the exchange security policies (set key to 1 DWORD)
That was the thing that cause the FORCED REQUEST for pin/password.
EDIT3: BUT... everytime you sync with exchange, it FORCE YOU THAT POLICY again. So you have to ask your exchange admin to solve it.

[Q] Uncheck "Device Administrators" with change of system files ??

HELP !!!
I use a program that requires the screen lock on my SGS 2 is set with at least 8 characters. It is very difficult to have to enter the code each time the screen has been turned off.
My screen lock is disabled by the administrator and if I use "Select Device Administrators" and uncheck the administrator, then delete the program itself.
Can I with my rooted SGS 2 go in and uncheck the administrator by change in any of of system files, so I can get permission to disable the screenlock ???
( running Rooted SGS 2 with android 2.3.5 )
Can't you take it with your IT admin?
Is your company so big that you have to cheat the company security policy rather than argue with the IT guy about it? The IT guy has set that policy to preserve company sensitive data I assume. My company force me to have some screen lock, not sure how big so I used a 4 digit PIN to unlock it, and that's a small thing.
Notice that you may also tweak another setting: how soon after screen saver does the screen get loked. What if it was locked after 10 minutes and not straight after it shut down the screen? Not sure how to do that though.
Yes, the company security policy can unfortunately not change. Then I
must cheat a bit and try something else.
On my old SGS 1, I could use the "SGS info" and disable screen lock
But with my new SGS 2, "SGS info" does not disable screen lock.
So I must try something else now.
Super Cool !! I solved the problem myself today !!
Now screenlock is not get active, even with password enabled.
The solution on the Samsung Galaxy S II
Install app "SGS Secret Code"
Start the app and select "Power Button Settings"
Mark "Shutdown"
That's all.
Thx a million P.Bue
I have been searching for this quite some time...

[Q] 5.0.2 Screen Lock and Smart Lock

I just recently got the 5.0.2 update and have a couple of questions.
1. When I set up a pattern lock, then decided I didn't need it, I went to change it back to swipe unlock, only to find it grayed out and the message "Disabled by administrator, encryption policy or credential storage"
Tried looking through any settings I could find that related to those reasons but could find nothing that seemed to relate to resetting swipe unlock as an option. Has anyone encountered this or know how to fix it?
2, So I decided to set up Smart Lock with my home as a trusted location. But the device is still locked every time I turn it on, even though the Smart Lock setting shows my tablet at home, right in the middle of the radius of dots it says is the trusted location and I still have to go through the 2 step process of swiping on the main lock screen with the notifications on, then entering the security pattern on a separate screen then finally getting into the home screen.
Any ideas on this one?
And when lollipop comes to the z3 phone is pattern unlocking going to be a 2 step process on that as well?
Regards for any information on these questions.

Do you have an exchange account setup? I know my work email server has restrictions where I have to have a screen lock.

Currently having the same issue. Tried deactivating all device administrator but still could not revert back to swipe unlock
www dot reddit.com/r/Nexus5/comments/2mptwm/lollipop_can_not_disable_passwordpattern_to_unlock/
Does anyone know if deleting credential storage will result in any adverse effect?
Well still no joy, although Smart Lock did recognize my location once, but then 10 minutes later it wasn't working again.
And no Spectre51, I don't have an exchange account set up.
Do you have anything under Settings->Security->Device Administrators? I just removed my outlook/exchange account and had the same issue but under device administrators outlook device policy was still checked. Unchecked that and I could change it to swipe.
I know you said you don't have an exchange account but maybe something else in there is still enabled causing the issue.

Can't disable screen lock on samsung-stang5litre edition 5.0 password

Hello,
I'm pretty good at computers but when it comes to phones I'm a dummy. I set a password in my Galaxy S5 running samsung-stang5litre edition 5.0 I just bought this phone and it had this ROM installed. I looked up instructions online for this phone to remove it (settings are not working or showing for this ROM) for this phone model and there are no instructions for this ROM. How do I remove the password or do I have to reset this phone ? If I reset the phone will it still ask for the password ? The person who sold me this phone also changed how this ROM looks and deleted almost every program out of it before I bought it. Please help me.
Found help
Since no one answered back I contacted someone to help me. I'd have never figured this out by myself. I'm so glad for his help. This is what worked.
What you have to do to remove that pin, go to Settings>Lock Screen> Screen Lock> Pattern> Setup any pattern, then setup Pin Code with it after you setup the Pattern. (You already have a Pin set in, just use it). It will ask you to type it in twice.
Now Power Off and Power On the phone it will ask for the pattern, do 5 to 6 wrong patterns, it might time you out for 30 seconds after that, on the bottom right of the phone it will say "use your Pin Code", hit that button, type in the Pin which you already setup while you were setting up your pattern, then use that Pin Code to unlock the phone. Now Power Off and Power On the phone, you shouldn't have any pin or pattern code to unlock anymore.
This worked for me.
