[Q] [Help] Can't change brightness from build.prop - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a mt6572 phone and I'm facing a problem related to brightness of my phone.
My screen brightness is always high and it burns my eyes at night.
I cant find any brightness option in my build.prop.
So I added this line to appropriate section of build.prop--
Code:
ro.lcd.min_brightness=blah(low as possible)
I rebooted my phone and nothing changed.
Still high brightness.
So,I tried this--
Code:
ro.init.screen_brightness=blah(as low as possible)
It didn't make any difference too.
I tried changing roms.
But every kk rom has the same issue(But ported from different phones).
It dont happen in LP roms.
I know about CF lumen,Darker and etc. screen controller app.I know those are great but I don't wanna use them.
I just want to get rid of it without using an app.
I will be glad if someone post a solution for me.
Regards
BatDroid

Dark screen??

Hello,, how can i fix my htc with a dark screen?? i have tried too flash it. but that dosent work! what can help mee??
It works but it is almost impossible to see the screen??
If u flashed a new rom and the problem persists, it's probably some hardware issue and it needs repair, but, if u haven't done yet, try going to power management and set the backlight brightness adjustment to a fixed value instead of auto.

i hav e tried too flash it and set the baklights brightness adjusments on manual but it stil dont works : o do u have any other tips??
Even I am facing the same issue. Did anybody get a fix to this solution.
After hard resetting the device, the screen has gone dark. I can see the phone working and also the menus, but since there is no backlight, its barely visible even inside the house. tried setting the backlight from Power adjustment menu, still no use.
Any help on this would be great.
Thanks
I had the same problem.I was taking a great care of my rose,I was overprotected with it,it was in perfect condition untill one day I wanted to sell it here and the next days the screen became dark for no reason. It really dissapointed me.I tried many things but nothing helped...it was 99% a hardware problem..I don't know what is wrong with these phones...anyway in the end I sold it on eBay..my suggestion is to try and replace the screen or just sell it...

weird brightness transitions

I have the i717 from rogers and currently running the cm9 official rom but it doesnt seem to matter what rom im on I see this werid fluttering brightness thing occurring on any rom. Try my best to describe it, it is like its almost fluttering up or down in brightness levels when about to dim or undim I am wondering if this is maybe a hardware issue with my device that I should get serviced or if it is normal?

I was going to ask what rom .but then had a thought regarding the light sensor on the device .
And I remember reading about sensor calibration and possible causes of fluctuations .
I suppose a search would find that for you ...but check this also ...
Display settings in cm allow light to decrease ...it's a hysterisis setting ...(I butchered that word )
And the settings control flicker in the display . You might try turning those off .
Next is the power saver settings which allow a light decrease also ..after a few seconds of no screen touch ,the light level drops too save power .
And third ...turn off your automatic light level setting in display settings .
I'm thinking three items are conflicting a bit and some mild tuning will fix it ...g

[Q] Disable 5% battery auto-brightness?

How can I disable or avoid the android setting that makes the brightness go down to minimun when the phone goes to 5% battery?
I have an extended battery and it is very annoying. Maybe I can override the effect with a tasker profile or something?
I'm no expert so I don't know where to start to find any solution...
Anyone?
I tried with a tasker profile but it does not work when battery is under 5%... is there a script to stablish any brightness level?
I am interested too, I didn't have this problem on 4.1.2, but after I flashed 4.3 I encontered this issue.
Very annoying if it happens on sunlight, it makes impossible to use the phone!
I could partially fix it with the app "rootdim" on the Play store, with it I can force it but when the screen goes off it resets again
As far as Internet resources go, this is impossible on Android and is a limit imposed by the kernel.
My thoughts: maybe this is changeable with a build.prop tweak, or a custom kernel. There isn't even an Xposed mod available for this, nor is it included in Gravitybox, Wanam Xposed, or any other collection. I hate this limitation too, especially in the sunlight like @dabyd64 said. You can possibly try using an android shell something like "print 1 > /sys/class/display/brightness" or something like that. Depends on device! I will look into it.
All the best,

That is what rootdim does, at least you can use the phone, but you have to force the brightness each time you unlock the screen
It has a nice preset widget, so its almost fixed. Single touch and brightness restored.
I think the low brighness is forced because in old roms the screen would flicker if the battery was very low and the brightness set high.
So Samsung fixed it in the hard way

Kingzone K1 Turbo Brightness

Hello guys,
i have a Kingzone K1 Turbo and i can't change the brightness. But when the phone starts the brightness changed. You can see this here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnMgN68qymc
And my problem is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVl47AhP4NY
Have anyone a idea what the problem is?
Greetings

Push.
I will make a workaround.
How can i set the brightness which will be set on start? Maybe a entry in build.prop?
Push
Push
I think you mean "bump" not push.
But are you rooted or stock? if you are stock, you have no su access so you likely cannot do any build.prop tweaks nor remount /system as RW to use a script.
I recently ordered this phone (yesterday), and when it comes in, I'll be sure to poke at the brightness stuff.
Can you post your about phone information (rom version, kernel version, etc) and I can compare it to mine when the phone comes in and maybe figure something out?
also, did you install any battery saving apps? those can monkey around with brightness in ways you don't want.
And one last question: did adjusting brightness ever work?
Ok I lied... this is the last question: if it did used to work and suddenly stopped, what changed (new app install? app update? etc)?

Brightness Intensity is low

I'm using Motorola Moto E(condor), I had automatic restart problem in my stock ROM, later I unlocked the bootloader and installed custom ROM, I had been using custom ROM for months, Now suddenly when I changed the ROM My mobile's brightness has become low, Even bootloader brightness is low, and now if i enable auto brightness and move the brightness slider to 25% its becoming darken(unable to view anything). So I changed to Stock ROM, but the problem still exists.
Help me out please......
:crying::crying::crying::crying:
Same problem here. Any luck finding a solution?
Flash this maybe your brightness will increase.

Though I think it might be a hardware related problem.
