WiFi calling? - Moto Z Questions & Answers

Just purchased the Moto Z and use it for my T-Mobile Sim (works great ) however I dont see a WiFi calling feature on it. Does it come with WiFi calling, if so how do you add it on? D

Just a guess. Wi-Fi calling is available on Verizon, but I doubt it would be on t mobile since it's not a t mobile phone.

What version of the Moto Z you have I want one but there saying it only works on Verizon??

I'm thinking about your question

[Q] Port wifi calling from T-Mobile Z3 to Z2?

Is anyone thinking of attempting to try and see if a port would work? T-Mobile's wifi calling should work as it's just baked into the ROM. Just picked up a new Z2 off that ebay deal for $399 as I read that the bootloader on the T-Mobile Z3 is not unlockable.
A port should work as long as someone spends the time to do it. I'm gonna try to do it myself because it seems that the Z2 lacks US carrier support on the forums, so not likely going to see any of the current custom ROM makers do it for T-Mobile US.
I have WiFi Calling working perfectly on a Galaxy Note II AT&T version running a T-Mobile ROM (baseband still AT&T). So the usual rumor that only a T-Mobile branded phone can use WiFi Calling is simply not true. Any phone can use the feature as long as you have a T-Mobile SIM card plus a ROM that has the WiFi Calling feature embedded.

That's good to know. I'll keep an eye out to see what you come up with.
Bump with the hopes of someone doing this soon....

SM-G965F/DS on MetroPCS

What is the best way to try to get working Wi-Fi Calling and VoLte on this model phone? Just ordered it yesterday so I don't have it yet
Thanks
I am not a developer but experienced user.
There is MUCH confusion about VOLTE .
To get VOLTE in the past on 99% of phones you needed 2 Things .
1] A VOLTE capable phone .
2] Network SOFTWARE on that phone to enable VOLTE ( and often WIFI calling ). This means you only get VOLTE on Tmobile , for example with a Tmobile BRANDED [ or Metro OCS phone ] with the preinstalled software from the Manufacturer for that specific NETWORK.
Android was supposedly going to ADD this into their system but I don't think it's possible technically or legally.
A friend as recently as a week ago on SPRINT had an S9 with a VOLTE On/OFF setting and when he engaged VOLTE is affected call quality negatively - I heard it.
This is one of the reasons Sprint is merging with TMO , IMO.
I have heard rumors of 'generic ' or AT&T Iphones having VOLTE on Metro PCS/Tmobile for example but real VOLTE stays on LTE always and you never lose Internet due to a call - simultaneous STABLE voice and data is the benefit - not some little trick on /off thing.
If the F/DS is an Exynos you may have issues however someone pointed out in another thread that the Exynos should work with T-Mo WiFi calling.
I am using the firmware for the 965U1, it is generic software for US Based Snapdragon phones. When I flashed and put my SIM in, it detected T-Mobile and set up WiFi calling automagically. The VoLTE also works with no adjustments or settings.
So I am thinking at a minimum you should be able to get WiFi calling. Hopefully.

Wifi calling in the UK

Just a query - does the HM20P have Wifi calling options in the UK? More specfically on Three?
Yes it does. Purchased mine from 3 UK and its the dual sim model. Never really used WiFi calling much as far as I'm aware but just tested it by putting the phone in airplane mode then turning the WiFi back on and it came up with the words 3 WiFi calling where the signal strength indicator usually is. Tried making a call and it works fine.
Not on O2 as of yet
Works on UK EE. The WiFi calling on the 20pro is different from on the 10pro. WiFi calling will only switch on if the gsm signal falls below a certain level. In my case I don't get WiFi calling upstairs but do downstairs

As I recall, that was how it worked on my Mate 10 (not Pro), which is kinda annoying if you live in a house that has borderline signal (like mine), I'd rather it just work as a preference. Oneplus 6 does it that way and gives you the option to choose.
Wi-fi calling works fine. Phone is single sim, unlocked model...bought outright from CPW, and wi-fi calling scrolls its way across the status bar when on wi-fi.
I'm on the three network...
I moved from three to Vodafone. When awaiting the phone number to be transferred it had WiFi calling. Once the transfer was completed I lost WiFi calling. I can't even remember where the settings are
Huawei Mate20 Pro LYA-L09
WiFi calling is carrier dependant, so you'll only see the option and it will only activate if your carrier supports it.
3 & EE support WiFi calling
O2 doesn't (on pretty much any handset except Samsung ones)
Voda I'm not sure about
On the same subject, VoLTE (4G calling) is also carrier dependant - I know both 3 and EE support it, but I haven't seen the option come up on my phone. O2 (as usual) don't support anything and Voda are unknown

Vodafone support it, been using it a while on lots of my phones also volte works. And best of all you don't need to have purchased it from Vodafone.

Is Verizon a no-go on this phone?

Can this phone be used on verizon? I see reviews that say it can't but band 13 is supported. Wondering...
Wondering this too. Anyone?
I can assure you it works. I've been using it on Verizon since March. Just make sure your SIM card is relatively new. It may not work if your SIM card is too old. That's my experience anyway.
what about Straight Talk through Verizon's network?
Can anyone answer if this phone has Wi-Fi calling working on Verizon?
I'm currently using the Nokia 7.1 on Verizon. What I had to do was use the IMEI from a Verizon compatible phone and put the activated sim in my Nokia 7.1. I've had no issues with the service. I know Volte works. Not sure about Wifi calling. I'm on prepaid so maybe not.
Verizon postpaid customer - confirm that SIM card works on TA-1085. Wifi calling, however, does not work. I contacted Verizon support and after verifying the settings, all they can say is that it is not a Verizon phone so things may not work.
I am looking to buy Nokia 7.1 to use on Verizon.
1. Can someone confirm this device works on Verizon and how it has been so far.
2. For how long will Nokia plan to release updates to 7.1?
