MI PC Suite, does not recognize the phone with non-miui ROM .

Download Links to Mi PC Suite
You can download Mi PC Suite here this PC suite is mostly supported by All Xioami devices.
Still, i have faced some bugs or issue with the use of this Mi Phone manager.
You can download & can try yourself! :good:

RN2 only charges when plugged into PC. PC detects it only during recovery.

I am trying to get my phone to connect to PC, but nothing happens. It will only charge, but doesn't come up with the notification for what mode mode I want to use i.e. MTP etc.
The computer doesn't list it as a device when it's fully loaded, but if I reset it whilst connected, the computer will register a device being plugged in (when it is still at the MI boot up screen). So will the mipcsuite.
However the phone will inevitably fully boot up and I get nothing again.
This also happens when I go into recovery. But when I try to get it to communicate it won't do ****.
Anyone else ran into this and came up with a solution?

I can't even get MI Suite to connect to it unfortunately. I swear it's something on the Global stable rom . .. . but afraid to flash the rom without flashing TWRP and Rooting it first.
You cab use "search" button to find many thread about your problem.
Here or in the MIUI English Forum...
and you can also download apps for that to resovle it.
Good luck

its a bit tiresome because you need to register for a cloud service to download. go to:
http://en.miui.com/thread-165875-1-1.html
then install mi suite
it should now recognise your phone via the suite. i think your phone also has a setting "connect as media device"
failing that search for "mtp device driver" for your operating system microsoft has a universal mtp kit. run it. then mi suite should recognize it. but mi suite is pretty useless. i can see my phone but can't back it up and can't see the file structure its very annoying to me. i uninstalled the suite, still looking how i can get win xp sp3 to recognise it as a media storage device hope it works for someone who will share. good luck
ps i was told the xiaomi has root access. i'm not technical enough to know the advantages or flash a new rom.

Mi a3 MTP media transfer protocol not connecting with PC

Hi, anyone having the issue, MTP not working in mi a3. I can't connect my phone to my pc via MTP. Tried lots of USB drivers. But only fastboot working, MTP not working.
Have you changed the connection mode? By default the phone only charges when connected to a PC. You must switch to file transfer from the notification every time (or in developer settings to make the change permanent). Correct drivers for MTP are installed automatically by recent Windows versions.
Yes, I've chosen the right settings in my phone. I already used my redmi 3s prime in same pc. All the drivers for redmi 3s installed properly. But mi a3 wont connect. I installed available drivers, it works in fastboot mode. I can instruct my phone via fastboot. But MTP only not working. Is there any USB driver particular for mi a3? In Xiaomi website all the drivers available for devices specifically. But there is no driver for mi a3. I found mi a1 and a2. But not mi a3. Can you help me to find the right driver? I'm in latest windows 10 laptop
MTP works out of the box without device specific drivers.
If you have installed Xiaomi drivers they might block MTP communication.
Have you tried on an other PC without phone drivers? Are you running any Windows security software?
MTP uses generic Windows drivers, you don't have to install them manually. Connect your phone to the PC, unlock the screen, make sure it's set to file transfer and open the device manager on the PC. Do you see any device with an exclamation mark? MTP should be under portable devices section as Mi A3.
Yes I can see mi a3 in the device manager under other devices. It shows the device driver not installed properly. Might be some problem with my windows pc. I'll try troubleshooting my pc. Thanks
This might help https://bit.ly/2OsBgAY
Has anyone found a solution?
I've tried installin Media feature pack, manually installing the MTP driver, updating the driver doesn't work since nothing pops up when I click on Mobile devices.

Same here
For an older A2 Lite cleaning USB socket helps...
Go to windows settings, device manager and delete all your USB devices and let Window ask you for new drivers all over again
