Many of you people may not know me as I'm completely new to the LG forum. I am basically a Rom developer for an AOSP based rom named SOKP. U can check out my started threads to know more about it. Its basically a mix of all commits from CM, Mokee, Carbon and Omni. I am planning to release builds for the d800 and d802 in the following week and I need testers for it. Kindly PM me with the details. I will reply you with the link. Testing is provided for a maximum of 2 members for each device and on a first come basis. Catch up as soon as you can.

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE
Xiaomi Had Meet in Chennai (india) today.
In Q&A Section i had priviledge to ask Hugo Regarding Kernel Source.
He replied that in late march we will be getting the Kernel Source for Mi3 Variant and infact they gonna make sure that after the MI Note they will try to release the kernel source of the every product they launch after Three Months. WE waited a lot and more two months Remaining.

Ivan already made a rom for MI 2 /2s.

On offical side miui forum there a lots of stupid threads like "Do you want a stable version of miui 6??":cyclops:
so it's nothing in front of this .
why stupid? we can share here in this thread all the lollipop related coming news and keep the other thread only for aosp related info. i think this is useful to keep things clean and separated...
maybe OP should just edit the title to "lollipop for mi3 discussion thread" or similar
Ivan's Android 5.0 Lollipop for Mi3 W / Mi4 CONFIRMED
It seems Ivan (the Xiaomi Dev who releases AOSP ROMs built with official kernel sources for Xiaomi devices) is already working on a Lollipop build for the Mi3/Mi4.
Even though the pic clearly shows a Mi3 WCDMA (i.e. the International variant), thing is, the Mi3 and Mi4 share similar systems. So similar, in fact, that their ROMs are cross-compatible!!
Hence the Mi4 is also DEFINITELY getting an AOSP build from Ivan.
I'll make sure I keep this thread (and my Mi3W) updated.

Please don't compare MIUI forums and XDA .
XDA has its own standard .
This place is not meant for random threads like it is in MI forums .
Though I am not against the OP. Its good keep both kitkat and lollipop separated as there will be confusions.

mi2 has lollipop already.. I guess because it is a old phone and probably xiaomi don't allow ivan to release lollipop for mi3 yet...

i hope you are right.. but that wouldn't explain why mi2 had priority respect mi3.. the normal thing would have been to work on mi3 first, and then, eventually, on mi2..... i think?

I think L is very new to Ivan. He needs to test it on a backup phone, instead of his daily one

I believe Mi2's kernel is available for public. but not for Mi3.
I believe that could be a valid reason also that could be the reason why Xiaomi restricted (if at all true) Ivan from releasing it.
there's a thread at the miui board about the 5.0 rom which was started by a moderator. i highly doubt that ivan is banned/restricted from releasing the rom. the 4.4 kitkat rom is kind of a semi-official release, this will be the case with the lollipop, too, i guess. it's just that mi2 was first this time. to be honest, i don't really care about the release date as long as we get a working rom. i never put any pressure on developers, i accept that it will be released when it's ready. in the meantime, i'm happy to use the 4.4 aosp stuff.
waiting time is not frustrating. xiaomi not releasing kernel sources despite numerous promises, that is frustrating.

Dude why you cant even undestand a simple thing.
Go to lineage Os office and ask them. Its not the maintainer who can decide when to do official. His job is only to apply for official status for his device and upload his commits with all requirements fulfilled as per rules.
Its official lineage os team who decides when to approve it and release to public.

Well, what do you expect? Redmi Note 3 is a cheap phone. cheap phone means more dumbasses people that can't even understand a simple thing. Like OP who just asked for ETA.

LOS lives for one simple rule. Don't ask for ETA. Just wait until the maintainer of 15.1 (I believe it's either lokman or abhisek) tell if it's ready for official and be thankful for what you have right now.
I wonder is there gonna be any custom rom development for this phone.. As of now forum is barren as no kerelnel sources available.. but are they gonna release kernel sources.
Even after kernel sources become available is there any guarantee ofbl development? as realme 2 pro with good specs and released kernel sources still have barren forum.
If anyone can help plz help otherwise i will have to go to redmi note 7 pro as it has got official custom roms from now on.

Atleast lineage os dissappeared for updates.
I believe we are waiting on the kernel sources to be released by realme before any rom development begins.
