How about Alcatel VR headset.
FYI, when you'll use VR with a 1080p phone you'll see pixels

Do u have virtual gyro enabled ? I'm not sure about the experience provided by virtual gyro if enabled.
Currently VR is in growing phase. I'm using ANT VR and Circle VR currently which is a basic one having good experience but not the best.

[Q] Android TV Box webcam app?

Hi,
I really intersting in android tv box, and I found many types with its own features but unfortunately, there is no one had all these features.
The best one I found till now is ug007 and imito mx1&2 ( the MINIX NEO X5 is large) but all of them dont have built in camera and mic, and I know that there is other tv boxes have these 2 features but they lack powerful CPU and Bluetooth hardware.
So, I want to aske if there is an application can be installed on my android phone to use it as a webcam and mic for that android based TV Box (for skype and other chatting programs)? And if not, please can any one make it?
Yes, I know that there are ones like this application in google play market, but as I thought they are for Windows PC! Correct me if I am wrong.
And yes I also know that I can use external webcam, but actually I dont want to buy multiple one to test which is worke and not.
Thank you, but really it will be great to make a video call while you lying down on the bed in front of your tv

Hello I just ordered the minix neo x5. After my gbox midnight arrived (terrible box!) I plugged my 14 dollar Web Cam and mic I got from a local radioshack worked just fine. So i think its just trial and error. Look for a cam/mic set that is compatible with linux that will 90 percent of the time work.

The Minix X5 needs its ow forum. How do you system update it to 4.1.1, How do you get rid of the onscreen virtual keyboard etc...?
I'm waiting delivery of my Minix Neo X5 to see how it goes.
In the meantime I've dome some reading and found some info..
I haven't tested any of these apps yet though.
Null Keyboard app will get rid of the onscreen keyboard.
TV Box Launcher will help organize the screen into a more TV Box compatible view
And the link below "should" have some info on upgrading.
http://minixforums.com/
Got everything done. The 4.1.1 update made vast performance improvements. I'm going to search for null now. Thank you for your reply.

[Q] Looking for a STICK PC.

Hey everyone!
I'm looking for a stick PC in the $70 price range. I do not want a box or puck. My main concerns are WiFi and Bluetooth. Multiple USB ports is a welcome addition. I've read about the MK808b, MK809 II and the Neo G4. I'd like to know if there is any better alternative that provides stable wifi. That is my first priority and I don't mind sacrificing Bluetooth. I definitely want a MicroSD card slot, not TF slot. Also, I don't mind tinkering with the stick, though I'd like it rooted out of the box. I don't necessarily want custom ROM support. And yes, it should be a minimum of 2 cores.
In points:
1) Stick, not box
2) Stable WiFi
3) MicroSD
4) Bluetooth (OPTIONAL)
5) Multiple USB Ports (OPTIONAL, but minimum 1)
6) Rootable, or pre rooted.
7) Ability to connect a USB Hub, if there's only one port.
Looking forward to some great suggestions from the community!
Probox 2
I also came across the Probox 2 Ultimate that seems to be a very good alternative, although a bit more expensive. It also comes with an air mouse. But it is out of stock almost everywhere.
so can anyone suggest a decent air mouse too? I'm really looking forward to buying one of these..
Feedback
Do someone has any feedback in regards Rikomagic MK802IIIS Bluetooth ??
In amazon says is a new 2013 version, FCC compliant.
I would recommend the Minix Neo G4...
I have just ordered the G5 box because I wanted the extra usb ports etc.. And Bluetooth.
This was on the strength of my friend demonstrating his G4 and mk808. The G4 was an awesome machine for such a tiny box.
I couldn't see much difference in performance against my galaxy s3.
Have fun playing with your new toy when you decide which one to go for.

I ordered the Minix Neo X5. It excellent build quality and a ton of ports. and it has a lot of support on the web from Minix and there's forums out there too. You can root and put a custom rom. Out of the box it does now output full HD though. It up converts 720p. The Finless ROM does force full HD, but it shouldn't claim it does full HD. I ended up returning mine when I started thinking how close other better options are coming, t if you need one right now this is the best probably as far as features go.
Pretty much any one will be awesome to play with. I'm waiting for the Onya simply because I like the multiple controller support out of the box.
Curious about the comment about the G5 and the MK808/G4 comparison. What did the G4 do that the MK808 was lacking (obviously Bluetooth)?
But these are awesome little TV companions. YouTube, internet, Netflix, Hulu, emulators, games, etc. Lots of options.
I personally have an MK808 and it runs everything I've thrown at it mostly games / light video. I can't recommend the bluetoothless model with the MK808B out now. Lots of devs working on it.

If I were you I would wait a couple of weeks more for the new Rikomagic Quad-Core stick!!!
Hopefully they got rid of all the WiFi problems in the previous models, and the software upgrades and community support is pretty good!
Check the specs here:

Also, if you use Skype a lot, you might want to consider a stick with a built-in camera, like the Kimdecent B12!

I'm now personally waiting for the Ouya as well after returning my Minix X5. I started thinking I will get an Ouya anyway and then any other Android box will collect dusk. Also, for the simple fact that you can use a controller out of the box to control everything without any troubleshooting or workarounds. and is guaranteed to have more support than ANY other TV box. If you absolutely need an Android stick right now, get a cheap one $50 or less, because you'll surely want the Ouya once it's out for only $99 with a controller, full HD and tons of support.
My minix x5 arrived a couple of days ago and I am delighted with it so far. .. I can appreciate the appeal of the Ouya especially for someone not comfortable with rooting, flashing, fiddling etc. But if the x4 is as good as this but in a stick form then I stand by my original recommendation.

Like you I'm very interested in Ouya but my fear is that you will be locked into only the apps/channels they offer. Of course it will be rooted in time but I'm looking for something that will allow me to watch all of the streaming companies such as Netflix, Hulu, Directv Everywhere, HBOGo, etc. Playing better games with the support they will offer is great but it will be interesting to see how locked down it will be.
Also I'm curious to see how GameStick goes once it releases in a few weeks.

Daydream using 10$ VR headset instead of google's 79$

Hi,
I have this idea and would like to validate if it is feasible:
-What if I use one of those cheap VR headset , for example,
ebay.com/itm/New-1pcs-3D-Glasses-VR-Box-Headset-Google-Cardboard-Virtual-Reality-Hot-/391636008832?hash=item5b2f533f80:g:tvsAAOSwZQRYWNTS
- Then install controller-emulator app on of my old android 6.0:
developers.google.com/vr/daydream/controller-emulator
-Then I launch the Daydream app on my Axon 7 manually (no need for the fancy NFC trigger)
Is there anything that could stop this from working? I do not think the google daydream viewer has any special sensors or anything, right?
This is working but there are problems with the functionality by using the emulator method. Inputs weren't recognized in my lollipop device.
On mm it could work.
Why don't you try the emulator before buying the VR headset?
It did work perfectly for me. I used it to try daydream before deciding to purchase it. I used a Nexus 4 as a controller

Thanks, but why would you still purchase google's viewer if this method of using cheap one with emulator is working? you just wanted higher quality headset?

The Daydream headset is quite nice, compared to the carboard one I used for testing, and the actual controller is much better than a phone because you can actually feel and press the buttons. With a phone, you don't really know where your finger is and you have to do strange things like double clicks to simulate some controller actions. The controller, though, sometimes has problems, like losing connection, which a phone does not have. Hopefully they will get solved with firmware updates

To be honest I just want the controller. I have a "VR" headset (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/retrak-utopia-360-virtual-reality-headset/5449500.p?skuId=5449500) that works well enough and fits more securely than a Daydream viewer would (had an extra support strap).

can you do cpu throttling test for at least 5 minutes with this app ?

just curious about that cooling chamber, wheter it gives performance advantage over normla cooling smartphone

I also have Black shark 2 with me 12 + 256 GB Rom version. I saw a reply there questioning how to change China rom to global. It's very easy. First you will have to contact black shark eu team and have the Rom itself. Then simple unlock the bootloader by Fastboot commands - Yes it doesn't need miflashunlock and that ridiculous waiting time. Then first format the system then flash. Like this I also converted my China version to global and it works great in neat English. I cannot post the links to global ROM as I am a newbie here and I cannot post links to outside. You can contact black shark and get it from them. Really like this phone. I have a beast in my pocket. If this comment helped you. Please consider hitting the like button. So I could do more with my XDA.
Thankyou
What's the build number of the global version?
I have mine already. I'm a big fan of the hardware, and the software has been mostly solid so far.
I ordered mine from the UK store on Friday (one of the first 100, so got the free pad), I paid for priority delivery and have heard nothing yet. Support takes 48 hours + to respond to each email. Bad experience so far for me

Hi, i have the ROG phone i am not sure how many of you had it, have it, or played with it. Can someone tell me if the difference between the speakers between the two devices is big. I am sure the ROG is way better but I want to know if the difference is marginal.
Also are there any software configurations to make the speakers sound better.
In general I would love a full detailed review of the speakers. Because I haven't found one yet. Thx
Guys im considering to buy global version of the phone , can i ask you:
1) the phone has widevine L1 or L3 ? (can use drm info app on playstore to check it)
2) on gsmarena it's written that has type c 2.0, but it's stated everywhere that can output the video trough type c hdmi cable , what do you know about that ? you tried ?
3) you tried to install the gcam of Mi9? Phone has camera2api already enabled like mi9 ?

I'm using the Asus ROG phone and the speakers on the black shark 2 are quite a bit more quiet, feel a bit muffled and have less clarity, volume and bass than the ROG phone. It's certainly a downgrade.
Also the black shark 2 has an equalizer but it's only available in shark mode --> only in games where I'm certain nobody needs an equalizer (at least I don't) Furthermore the speaker grill holes on the black shark immediately got clogged with dust which isn't a problem with the ROG phone.
I personally found many reasons why I'll stick to my ROG phone and am returning it.

According to the USB info, it's actually USB 3.1 (used my computer to check it). It seems to operate at USB 2.0 speeds when transferring files, but yes, it does output video and audio in real-time over HDMI. I have tried it myself, to include playing games with it, and there is nearly no delay. I found playing fast-paced games to be perfectly fine over HDMI to the TV.

Thanks a lot for the reply, my thoughts exactly. The problem currently there isn't a good alternative to the ROG phone that doesn't have a notch, even top bottom bezels, real dual speakers not an earpiece and 1 speaker. In a nutshell a ROG phone but with better specs and camera. There are few on the list but with many shortcomings, 1 example would be the Pixel 3 but it only has 4GB of ram which is a No No...
I guess I will have to wait until a better alternative is available.
Thanks again, and good luck to all of you with your new phones. :good:

wow thanks a lot for the clarification, considering the great emulation power of snap 855 , this phone is a portable "retro" console with hdmi cable (even ps2 works), my idea is to use portable projector with it to use in holidays/hotels etc.
thanks again.
now if gcam provide acceptable/good photos in low lights , is a perfect phone.

k20 pro/mi 9t pro VR headset compatible with daydream VR

so i have a mi 9t pro coming should have it by the end of the week and plan to root it if need be to get daydream VR working as i want to play rez infinite on it
it has a 6.39 inch screen so just wondering what is most recommended headset to buy that would work and have a functional bluetooth controller comparable to the one that comes with daydream view
initially was just going to buy the cheapest VR headset i could find something like the VR box 2.0 as least phone should fit in that, but then i thought maybe a daydream view 2017 version would be better at least would come with better controller that offically works with daydream vr and bigger FOV then the original and it supported the note 8 which had bigger dimensions then the mi 9t pro, then i thought maybe i am better off buying a headset that lets you adjust the focal range and things like that but then am i giving up controller support if i go down that route
so yeah just a little confused as before all i had was gear vr on galaxy S7 and that was just plug and play moving out of that ecosystem and into strange generic android mobile VR i am just not sure what to be looking for that would work for daydream VR with a bluetooth controller
so what headset do most people get these days for non gear vr phones that want to be able to use daydream VR apps and games?
so i have found that you can buy a few compatible aftermarket controllers floating around just wondering do you lose any functions from using them over the standard daydream view VR controller and if they are worth it over just buying a secondhand view controller
also still no closer to working out what the consensus of what mobile VR headset to buy these days if wanting to use daydream but not the daydream view, i see a few bundles offering VR headsets with aftermarket controllers are they worth paying for over secondhand view headsets

Yeah it's been fine , I just use the android 9 unlock method with the pixel 3 xl zip on latest miuimix rom
Everything works as normal the headset just thinks phone is a pixel 3 when I turn module on, I turn it off again when I don't need it
Apps I just install via apkpure or other methods currently have rez infinite, dr splotchy adventure , gunjack 2 , Skybox to stream my library my external storage of HD vr videos if U get my drift (wink wink) all work fine no issues

Mate, are you still using the daydream up to this point?
So I need root to spoof the device as a Pixel 3 XL?
What are the pros of it versus the conventional VR experience?
Will it still work with MIUI 12? Sorry for so many questions
