Moto Z on contract UK - Moto Z Questions & Answers

Just wondering if anyone knows when this phone will be available on contract in the UK?
The phone is available on Amazon UK and a few other online retailers. But doesn't seem to be in any high street shops, no phone shops like Carphone Warehouse (who hadn't even heard of it when I asked) and I can't find so much of a mention anywhere about being available or even coming soon on any contract providers (EE, Vodaphone, O2 ect).
Is the phone just not officially released yet in the UK?, if so anyone know when its official release is?

I guess it's a very low key launch here in UK. Certainly anyone wandering into a phone shop will have no idea it there is such a thing. Local Carphone Warehouse/PC World has a display with Moto phones on but no Z or Z Play. Early days yet and you may find it with one of the online retailers offering contracts but can't see Vodafone/EE etc offering it direct. Could be wrong ... frequently am

Seems odd if they don't start offering it for contract on all the major providers at some point in the near future, I mean the Moto X is widely available.
Just bought myself one off ebay in brand new condition for £350 anyway though so never mind I suppose

Be interested to know what you think of it once you get it.
I have an X Style and although I've got on well with it I find myself looking for the next thing. I might have given a moto z a try but not keen on paying £500 for a new one.

where to buy!

so where can get get one that works in the US?
Non works with US 3G yet
ebay or import one, only work on edge until north american version is released and even then it only has ATT 3G bands if that is important to you
T-Mobile USA
Simple question guys. I think the answer is 'yes' but I want to verify this with people w/ more experience.
Does the UK version of the Hero work w/ T-Mobile USA data network?
I'd like to get the Hero but it would be a waste of money if it doesn't work w/ my provider.
Sorry guys...found the answer on another thread
noob mistake
How trustworthy does this seller look to you guys?

It's cheaper than handtec, which is the best value I've found..
$400?! that's suspicious .. everyone else has it starting from $634
refurbished? it says new ..
the store has zero rating in google shopping
ohhh, now i see why, i'm sure they messed up the currency sign, hero costs 400 british pounds
That's possible.. but everything else on the site is also in dollars and relatively cheap compared to other places.
I guess it is too suspicious though, I'm not going to touch that one.
thinking about buying from mobilegadgetsonline.com
if anyone out there HAS bought from there i would appreciate a quick note about it.
i am thinking of buying from there as they are CHEAP!! CHEAP !! CHEAP!
but as some of you, i am skeptical as well.
they say that they are a new store, with new goods....
trying to obtain a sound customer base.
they also stated that the promo prices (which are fantastic) end on July 31st.
hmmm, what to do, what to do?!?!?!?!?
if its to cheap.....
the alarm bells would be ringing for me
do your homework before you buy.
I would not deal with any company that does not have a land line phone number to call. Not that it makes a difference.
No Whois information either - I know for dot com it not needed, but hay. BEWARE
THATS A SCAM i recently purchased a hero from them and got an email saying ur order can not be prossesed because our credit card processors are down and you must send cash or money order your credit card was not charged
JerryBarcenas, which site did you buy it from so we can know where not to get it.
I'm waiting for the hero to come to the us and will hopefully get my unlocked hero by october/november
that mobilegadgetsonline is a scam however the next cheapest i found was integrontechnologies.com its 599 free shipping and has google checkout ill try them next if not ill just got to expansys i trust them
Thanks for the info, Jerry.
I guess I would recommend everyone to buy from expansys if they wanted to be safe.

[Q] Selling My X10....

I was just curious does anyone know of a good site other than ebay or kijiji. This question is more for My Ontario Canada brothers.....I understand every community or region may have a certain place to sell used tech stuff. Hey if anyone is interested pm me. Also what do you all feel is a good price? Thanks ahead of time for the responses.
Hey man i feel you still I bought my X10 on the day it was released here in Canada with high hopes, and it been kinda of ****. But to be honest If you got your phone with a contract just keep the phone for a year or something and just wait for the next gen phones to come out to Rogers/Canada. I know some people are have switched to the Desire and stuff, well it may seem cool now it is kinda outdated and the "next gen" phones are coming out next year as well. So yeh.
Also try ebay. I tried to sell my X10 at a point but people are kinda aware of the lack of multi touch and stuff so I gave up. One guy was asking me 250.
Redflag Deals might be a good place, but plenty are already selling their X10s there.
The going price in the UK for a used X10 in good condition without scratches is between 200 and 250 pounds. I think it's a good price. You could can sell on ebay as long as you are priced right.
I get one free device per year of up to 1,000 euro in value from my service provider. Plus the local dealer let's me get a second device at the same price as a new customers with contract. So I bought the iphone4 in the beginning of July for 300.
I got the X10 for free, so 200 pounds would go towards covering the cost of the 4. I am taking mine to a flea market next weekend and going to try to get 300 to 250. If not I will put it on Ebay with a buy now price of 220.
Are you just trying to sell it or do you want to replace it with another phone? I'd suggest offering a trade for some other phones on Kijiji and various message boards...
Good grief. Nobody here want to use XDA's own marketplace?
im looking to pick up an x10 if youre still looking to sell. send me a msg and maybe we can work something out? im in ontario as well

[Q] Looking to buy in germany, need assistance

During the upcoming week my sister is going to be in Berlin.
I was hoping that she could bring me back a nice little S2, however i don't want to send her searching all over the city.
Do you know of any store (physical, even better) that holds the Galaxy S2 (SIM Free!) in Berlin?
She's flying over on Monday, hope i can find something suitable by then.
Thanks to whoever tries to help.
Im not living in berlin, but she should try it in a store called media markt. they sell the gs2 but i cant tell you if they will have it there when she is in berlin. and a little advice. i think your sister is able to speak and read german right? if so then tell her to do this what im gonna tell you now. before she buys the gs2 in media markt, tell her to check the price at amazon.de!!! if the price at amazon.de is cheaper than in media markt, she can tell the employee the price from amazon.de because in most cases they sell the gs2 for the price from amazon.de!!! that way you can get it a bit cheaper!!! i hope i could help you a bit.
that's actually a lot of help, seeing how i don't know any german retail chains that's fantastic.
sadly, she doesn't know any german at all, though i think comparing prices with amazon.de should be fine.
however, the (w-ww.amazon.de/gp/product/B004XBQ9HK/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&s=ce-de&psc=1) galaxy s2 on amazon.de has two versions, one's regular, and one's "import" - any idea what that means?
also, currently the (w-ww.mediamarkt.de/angebot/smartphones/samsung-galaxy-s-ii) price on mediamarkt seems cheaper (or, very close after taxes) however, i don't know if that's sim free or not, and also if that "import" thing has any relations to it...
if anyone can shed any light on the matter, i'd be most grateful.
on a side note, does anyone have any idea if this version does NFC or not?
U might whant to check cyberport.de, too. That's where I bought mine for 550€. They have stores at Stadtmitte and Walther-Schreiber Platz.
Good luck
I am from Austria and i think i can help you in this matter.
The 'import' on amazon.de means that those phones are from the UK. I would buy it at one of the mediamarkts. They are really popular here in austria and germany. I guess there are at least four or five of them in Berlin. She could alternatively try it at the retailchain Saturn. They are very similiar to the mediamarkts, but i think the phone is in stock everywhere.
Good Luck!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Supermult said it all. If its simfree your sister can ask the staff there. They should be able to understand her
Btw we have no NFC here.
if you want to compare prices in germany's online stores, you should use www.gh.de imho one of the best platforms (despite the comments of the users there ...) here is the SGS2 link: http://gh.de/a615532.html
as for retail stores, the price you posted in Media Markt is definitly worth buying it, unless it's unlocked/unbranded and doesn't come with any contract.
Not to be mean but your sister should be aware that mostly (!!) the employees at Media Markt are a bunch of morons, so she should be well informed what she wants and don't ask them for advice.
Other stores she could try would be:
- Saturn (same as Media Markt) should be the same price as Media Markt
- cyberport (adress: Store Berlin-Steglitz, Walther-Schreiber-Platz 1, D-12161 Berlin) price between 545 and 569 euros
- ATELCO (adress: Filiale Berlin-Wedding, Oudenader Straße 16, D-13347 Berlin-Wedding) price around 566 euros
import means it's the european version (XEU) which is hard to get atm here in germany. Almost all devices are DBT (german retail). Just make sure it's unlocked and unbranded.
if you have any more questions feel free to pm me.
PS: I don't live in Berlin, so I can't help you with exact information.

Sony Xperia Tablet Z - poor warranty service

Just wanted to post my experience for others contemplating dropping so much money on a tablet, and especially for those buying other than their country of residence.
Further to my post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2334953, I had to RMA my tablet.
I placed an order on thje US Sony Store, order SW13060100141 on June 1 2013 for the 16GB Wifi Tablet Z.
A few days ago while using my tablet with the standard Sony provided charger, the tablet shut off during use. It now no longer powers on. I spoke with Benny in Tech Support who troubleshot it with me and provided an event 1-689327814 to set up an RMA (R-SW13060100141-147) via FedEx.
On calling customer service I spoke to Rich, a supervisor, employee 18373 (reference to call 130623-001252) and I was advised that since I was now living in Canada and not back in the US until fall, I could not do a replacement to Canada, and I would have to drive back to the US from the Toronto area just to mail the tablet back for a refund.
I find it horrible that a company who operates globally such as Sony refuses to offer me an in-store option here in Canada, or even a shipping option for replacement in Canada. This is ridiculous, especially on such an expensive item.
I for one will have a hard time supporting Sony in the future given the "who cares" attitude, and the lack of regard for the situation I am in.
I am now stuck driving this all the way to Buffalo just to mail it since Sony is being difficult. I should have stuck with Samsung devices like I normally do - they honor US purchases in Canada and vice-versa, in my experience.
EDIT:
I had this escalated by Sony Canada. Apparently each division will honor the warranty of the other, and the US was just mistaken since I called them instead. They should have properly advised and forwarded me to the Canadian division. After contacting higher ups at the Canadian division I was provided with an RMA number to ship my tablet back.
I have been told they will try to confirm the cause of it just shutting off and dying, so I will update this thread accordingly once I hear, to close the loop.
The is completely wrong of Sony but sadly norm rather than the exception. There's a reason the US-Canada border is described as a one-way glass with the mirror pointing south. There are more examples than I can count.
When the original Xoom was first released in Canada months after the States, it had to be flashed to the US ROM to get updates from Google.
The Kindle Fire is just seeing its Canadian debut now — after Japan because heavens know it's easier to translate everything from American into Japanese that that incredibly alien Canadian/Canadien.
And then there are those newfangled Chromebooks … that weird across-the-board $10 markup in the Canadian Google Store (even Apple doesn't do that anymore) … Google Voice.
It really is very frustrating and such a stupidly artificial barrier — had you bought that tablet in the Canadian bit of the Sony Interwebs, in-store service in Canada would have been no problem. :banghead:

WiFi version sold out in the UK?

Ive just saved enough money for the WiFi version and wnet to the Sony site to buy it and now theres no mention of it. You can only buy tye Lte version for £579. Is it sold out or have they scrapped it? Also the release date has been pushed back a week for the Lte version.
strange
Hey there,
I actually ordered thevwifi version myself back in april.
It was expected to ship on the 27th of May. Then I received an email on the 26th saying that due to "unfortunate" delay they are expected to ship on the 5th of June.
I called sony and they told me that it is probably a problem of availability..... I was pissed off on the fact that I ordered it about 2 months before the shipment period.
Yet I am starting to think that they are actually trying to push the LTE version more on the pre sales hence why they removed it from the pre orders page ans replaced it with the LTE version.
But I still cannot believe why would every tablet delivery should be delayed instead of just starting to ship those which are already available. It can only lead me to assume there is some fault with them or they want to install further stuff and reship them to the UK.
Either way it is very strange from sony... Any other opinions on the matter or anyone who knows more??
Not sure whats going on as its not available to buy at all on the sony uk website now. Could be to do with Microsoft and preinstalled office apps which was in the news lately. Fed up with it so i bought a 128gb surface 3 with keyboard for the same price as the lte z4 tablet. Im a Sony fan and absolutely everything electronic i own is by them (PC/z3 tablet/smartwatch 3/z3 phone/ps4/Headset etc but ive had enough now, year after year with promised release dates then it gets knocked back and support getting worse. Switching to MS now.
Actually I called them again yesterday and they confirmed to me that the wifi version is sold out that is why it has been temporarily removed from the website.
Thanks, they could have made people aware on the website, after all being sold out is something to brag about!
