Universal Firmware Still Capable on NEW Note 7 Units - AT&T Note 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

Just flashed AT&T PH1 on my replacement Verizon Note 7. All they changed was the battery. Device shipped with Verizon's PH1 firmware. Happy rooting!
EDIT:: DON'T UPDATE TO PHE OTA FIRMWARE OR ELSE YOU WILL LOSE ROOT CAPABILITY AND NOT BE ABLE TO DOWNGRADE TO PH1. ALL REPLACEMENT NOTE 7 ARE SHIPPED WITH PH1 (rootable) FIRMWARE STILL SO DON'T UPDATE.

I was not able to root ... tried 4 times.. was rooted with last Note 7. which method did you use? I get an error when flashing the Sprint firmware in odin.

its because along with the green battery, AT&T's update includes a new bootloader and checks that blocks Odin from downgrading the bootloader. in short, they patched the root method.

If you took the PHE firmware update you will not be able to flash any other carriers' PH1 firmware or root.

Thanks for the update. That reallys sucks.. The APH1 ROM was very nice and basically you can switch to any carrier you want.
This will kill some of the sales of Note 7. I hope Samsung is listening..

No. No one has uploaded AT&T PHE firmware yet unfortunately

Has anyone pulled the PHE software from another note 7 and tried to flash it to the AT&T Note7. Just wondering if it's still possible.

Updates!! Help

If You Are on 3 network in Ireland/England then please reply.
I've read that some ppl on 3 network have gotten s3 updates already and im still on the stock update, does anyone know about the release dates for the updates on 3?
Are you still running the stock firmware or have you rooted your device? For reference, if it's rooted, you will no longer receive OTA updates and will have to install them yourself.

Ok can you update the post once it has been found?
So, anyone flash this yet? I'm tempted but won't be back home to a PC (in case something goes wrong) until tonight. Just looking for some general impressions.
So, I did this. Pretty impressed with the overall device feel now, SE9 is nice . No hang ups other thank it took a long friggin' time, also remember this will WIPE all the data, so make sure to do a backup prior to. The initial/first phone setup is very iPhone-ish, imo.

Be warned; this update is ONLY for SM-G930A firmware - it has a second-stage updater that blocks all other versions (including SM-G930T, which I myself tried). In other words, it is a carrier-specific update, folks.

If it weren't for this being a daily driver, I'd consider it. However, because it is, that's not an option. So I'll have to wait for either a neutral version or one that will work with the SM-G930T.

It's not misleading, the firmware can be flashed on either version and it is official firmware. Further no one has posted the full version (includes HOME_CSC and USERDATA) for download until now. What's your beef?

The ARF5 Isn't official, at least not yet. If you use apps like SamsungPay that rely on safety net, you're best off not to use that version, at least until or if it becomes official.

Gotcha!
Also, in the OP you could help clarify what the other guy was talking about by stating that this firmware is US Xfinty which is a Verizon MVNO. I think thats what the other guy may have meant. When you look at the OP quickly you do get the impression that this may be for the unlocked U1. But eitherway... Thanks for posting it! Much better than trying to download from SamMobile!!!

The reason I say it *was* misleading is because the title made it seem like there was a U1 version of the 2ARF2 release. While I'm not in that boat, there are people looking to swap carriers, which requires flashing to the U1 to remove carrier settings, before then flashing to a new carrier.

Help Trying To Flash U1 FW To My Sprint S9+

Hi guys im having a heck of a time trying to flash U1 FW to my s9+ cause it has the stupid sprint lease lock on it so i'm trying to flash u1 to it. The reason why it is failing is because you are on a high boot loader, you current on V3 while the U1 firmware that you was trying to flash is on V2.. You can only flash firmware that's on the same boot loader.
You would need to download G965U1UEU3ARG7 and flash it in order to be on the U1 firmware...

To be honest it takes as long as it takes... Though for the U1 firmware it does appear to be the last one released after the carriers.
I would imagine that before they release a firmware that covers all the carriers they want to make sure it works for the individual carriers... But that's a theory/speculation I have.

First time I have ever heard of a Sprint Lease Lock.. Now I am curious over what that is, so off to google searching for it.
Think I found what your talking about... I am not sure if flashing the U1 firmware will work in this case given it's an S9+ and not an S8. Hopefully it does when the appropriate U1 firmware is released.
Depending on where you got the phones from maybe try doing a return and get a refund?

No biggie... Just for clarification (if it helps in the future) you can only flash files with the same bootloader version as what is currently installed. You can also flash bootloader versions that are higher then what is currently installed on the device.
What you can not do is flash bootloader versions lower then what is currently installed.
Finding the bootloader version is easy once you know how. Using the firmware version indicated:
G965USQU3ARG7
The bootloader version is the number before the last 4 characters of the firmware version... In this your looking for the number before ARG7... Since the number is 3 it means this firmware uses the version 3 bootloader.

To carrier switch you would need to flash the U1 firmware, then insert the carrier of your choice [not Sprint] then set up device, after download the latest U firmware which is 3SARI4 and flash it.
Do not flash the USERDATA unless it is for the carrier you switching to

Does anyone else have the Snapdragon 9+ with BRJ6?!!!

I have the G965U through TMobile. I just received a OTA firmware update that now has me on BRJ6. Everything that I've read says that the firmware for the US variant should be BRJ5, which is what I was on prior to yesterday. I'd like to flash the new One UI but it seems like nothing shows my situation. Any ideas? I've attached photos
Anyone? Again, every thread I've seen with BRJ6 has been the Exynos version not Snapdragon. If I flash the Exynos firmware would I brick the phone?
This is what the samfirm app says is the latest firmware for the Tmobile G965U... So what you got is correct.
Code:
Version: G965USQS3BRJ6/G965UOYN3BRJ6/G965USQS3BRJ6/G965USQS3BRJ6
The BRJ6 is not specific to the Exynos.. You need to look at more then just the last 4 letters/numbers when your looking at the firmware. In the entire software version you will see G965U mentioned, which means the build is for your model phone. If it was for the Exynos you would have seen something else.. For example G965F or G965N
Lastly builds for Snapdragon and builds for Exynos are not cross compatible.
Wait so how do we with brj6 get to update to PIE?

We don't :crying:
I have an unlocked phone and put in a Verizon sim thinking that would get me into the beta. Instead it updated me out of it, lol.

It fails because it's looking to update from ARJ2 and I'm on ARJ6. When I try to install ARJ2 with ODEN it fails. The beta doesn't extract the way that normal firmwares extract, so I can't even figure out how I would use ODEN for that.

Sorry not sure if you can Odin back to ARJ2 on the U1 model. The pie beta update zip is dropped on the SDCard and installed via recovery (or sideloaded with adb if you don't have an SDCard), not with Odin.
