I was running a stock rom on a stock kernel for the modem i dont know.

Sounds to me like the bootloader and modem are too old for the custom rom. Flash the latest stock rom from Sammobile.com to ensure the modem and bootloader are matched and up-to-date.

Are you sure it is an i9300 motherboard? Not a Korean or Japanese version?

You can confirm the model number by booting into Odin mode.

Yea the motherboard is GT-I9300 so its international version
I have downloaded from sammobile and tried custom rom stillno work but when i got the motherboarc it had android 4.1.3 or 4.1.2 i dk

You confirmed the model number in Odin mode? What error are you getting in the Odin log?

There is no error it says that its custom and nothing else

The Odin log comes from the app, not the Odin screen on the phone.
On the phone's Odin screen, it says gt-i9300?

On the phone it says that its gt-i9300 but when i connect my phone to odin it dosent say anything

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S2: E can't mount /cache

Hi Everyone,
I was trying to root my phone using the insecure kernel and Odin but once this was flashed, my phone got stuck at the boot logo. I can get to Download mode to flash another kernel or stock ROM. I can also go into Recovery where I am getting a lot of errors such as E: can't mount /cache, can't mount /recovery log. Wiping the cache and factory reset don't seem to work as they produce more errors.
The problem is I did not note down my baseband and kernel version before rooting. So now , I don't really know which stock ROM to flash to get my phone working again. Does anyone of you know how I get know my baseband and kernel version to choose an appropriate Stock Kernel and ROM? And does anyone know what I might need to do to get the phone working again?
Thanks very much for any help, guys.

Your location and network is the deciding factor .
You require stock rom not plus a kernel.
Stock Roms .and csc

Hi jje,
Thanks for your reply.
I'm from the UK and the phone is locked to T-mobile..
I have tried flashing a stock rom for T-mobile in the UK (BOKE3:http://www.multiupload.com/GY05UJM6DQ
Firmware info: PDA:BOKE3|PHONE:BOKD1|CSC:TMUKE3) and my phone is still stuck on the boot logo and showing the mount errors in Recovery mode.
Also, I was not too sure whether to flash the stock kernel that comes with it and I did it. You're saying that I don't need to flash the stock kernel. So, now that I've already done this, will this affect my phone? Do I need to flash another stock kernel for it to work?
Thanks again for your help. I appreciate it very much.
Is it possible for us to repartition to 2 partitions only?
If it's any help I am suffering the same issue can't mount /cache when I flash any rom other than the current t-mobile (UK) 2.3.5 which I got from sammobile
Can't embed links so just download the last UK t-mobile image shown in their list
If anybody can point me towards a solution as I am more used with HTC phones as from previous experiance t-mobile will be really slow about releasing ICS (they where about 3 months behind the official HTC desire ROMs)

Rooting your phone doesn't change your firmware.. You're still on the stock firmware unless you flashed a new rom. Goto settings>about device> and see your build.. Then goto Sammobile and downlaod the rom that is listed for Panama and matches your carrier or build whichever. Download it and flash it rom via Odin and you'll be unrooted.
though i don't see any point in unrooting. Rooted is always better.

Samsung i9300 not registered on network after update

I bought a used factory network unlocked S3 i9300
it had 4.1 , i downloaded 4.3 from Samsung-updates.com and i flashed the stock recovery and stock firmware using odin (i downloaded the first one "GT-I9300 NZC I9300XXUGNJ2" (i think because my phone is not tied to any network operator i cold choose any firmware)
i followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/fix-s3-to-factory-unroot-stock-recovery-t2323847
every thing went smooth and good now i have android 4.3 but the problem is that when i call a number i get not registered on network
i'am confused why is this happening ?
i had seen some pages on the web that say root the device and install custom recovery then flash a modem file...
i dont want to root my s3 , and why the hell it is not working and i'am using Samsung stock firmware why do i have to flash a 3rd party stuff to make calls working !!!
note: the IME after update is correct

Can't update Galaxy S2 I9100 to 4.1.2 through OTA, please help!

Hi, I was given a Galaxy S2 I9100 with baseband version I9100BOKJ1 T-mobile that has android 2.3.5 installed.
So, I wanted to update it to 4.1.2 through OTA but it says that there are no updates available, what are my options?
Can I just install an official 4.1.2 stock rom through odin? If so, what 4.1.2 stock ROM is compatible with this phone? Thanks!
Yes, you can flash a 4.1.2 stock ROM via Odin. There are plenty of stock ROMs on the internet for our device, most of them are on sammobile.com, but you need to sign in to use it. A simple Google search will show its results. Try to find a ROM matching to your region/carrier.
Think about making a backup of your baseband. There are guides on the internet. If you get big problems with GPS or signal strength with the new ROM, you can flash it back. Some people report the stock baseband solves GPS and signal issues, nevertheless it didn't change anything for me when I tried around switching basebands.
Hope this helps.

Some regions didn't get JB update at all. You can flash your phone using odin.
Go to below link find a none carrier firmware download and flash.
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9100
My current rom is xwlsw.
And don't try AOSP stock is always the best.

I need help !!!!

Hi xda....
i have a problem with my s3 i9300 , when i flash a custom rom the phone boot normaly but he say " no sim dedected" and no network......so any solution for this problem please.
Make sure the phone is running the latest bootloader and modem before flashing a stock ROM.
If the phone is running the latest bootloader and modem, it could be that the ROM is not compatible with the phone.
