[FIX][Guide] Unbrick Hard Bricked LG G3 (VS985) - Verizon LG G3

A couple days back I bricked my G3 so I tried many things but nothing seemed to work, then I found R-T-B’s guide, and it worked, it can unbrick any G3 Vs985.
I highly suggest you to read the complete guide before proceeding and you must ignore the instructions.txt file included in the Unbrick Kit folder.
I am just writing this, the tools are from @R-T-B
Say thanks to that guy and if you like please donate.
Disclaimer: I’m not responsible for anything, use it on your responsibility
What is Hard Brick?
When your has no power, no sign of life, no indication whether plugged or not, sometimes vibrates when plugged in usually stays at black screen aka dead, LED changes color.
To Put Your Phone in Qualcomm USB mode:
If connected to PC Device Manager recognizes as LGE Android Mobile Usb which isn’t a good sign means you going to have to Short Pin via test point.
Open your phone and take out the battery. Remove the top half of the phone housing. You do not need to remove the bottom half by the usb. Also you don't need to remove the screw next to the camera. If you do remember that it is a different size so keep it separate.
2. You will see a big metal shield. You need to remove it. It is pretty easy just pry it off and it pops back into place when you are done.
3. Next you need to short the pins as shown in the following picture with a small thin, stiff metal wire. While continuing to short the pins plug in your usb cable. You should hear windows detect the phone almost instantly. Keep shorting the pins for the count to 5 and then you can release the wire. See image below, ignore the ethernet connector.
Shorting means just attaching those two points with a small thin, stiff metal wire for 5secs or so.
4. Now open device manager in windows and it should show your phone under com ports as Qualcomm 9008 (COM #). If it doesn't try the process over again. When it does work remember this number. It is going to be used later.
5. When your phone has detected as Qualcomm usb then release the shorting points.

Now you’re ready for resurrection of your beloved LG G3
Pre-requisites:
All you need is in this Unbrick Kit, it’s a pretty big file, download, be patient.
Download it here:
md5:
c2a9cff174ed0d4a1c218023087d10cc
Qualcomm QDLoader_HS-USB_Driver 32 and 64bit
LG_Verizon_Drivers
LGUnitedMobileDriver
Note: Only install 32bit or 64bit drivers of Qualcomm, don’t install both
Procedure:
Make sure your phone is in Qualcomm 9008 mode note the com port # in Device Manager
If you are on a 64 bit system you will need to disable driver signing. Here is how:
Step 1. Open the Windows command prompt as “Run as Administrator”.
Step 2. Run
Code:
bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
Step 3. To finalize the process run
Code:
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON
Or you can simply disable driver signing by pressing F8 before Windows logo appear when it’s booting.
Step 4. Reboot and you’re done.
Connect your phone w/o battery and run BoardDiag from folder “v2.99” inc. in Unbrick kit
And be sure the AP check and EMMC are checked, select AP chipset as B2 (MSM8974AC), check Qualcomm’s port # from Device Manager and put it in BoardDiag’s ComPort box, see image below:
Now click start and wait for test to complete, if that does not work, try unchecking the EMMC test. If that still does not work, use the BoardDiag in v3.99c folder and also try it without EMMC test.
If it throws an error about not being in dload mode you need to restart the shorting process. Hold the short for a bit longer this time.
Now check RESTORE BOOT IMG and choose “aboot” from drop down menu and again click start
Do the same for following partitions FOLLOW THE ORDER!!
BackupGPT
boot
dbi
laf
PrimaryGPT
recovery
rpm
tz
Now flash “sbl1”. Always flash “sbl1” at the end to prevent super brick.
Phone should now get disconnected.
Remember your phone is connected w/o battery till this point.
Now disconnect from PC and put in the battery
Hold Volume Up button and connect to PC while holding Volume Up button, Congrats you’re in download mode. Now use LG Flash Tool 2014 included in Unbrick Kit.
Run it As Administrator, see image below.
You’ll see this window after clicking CSE Flash, hit enter.
Now it will Stop Responding at 99 percent, happened to me, so I assume it’s just a bug in the program. Don’t worry it’s still going to install the software in your LG G3
Do not remove usb/unplug phone till your phone restarts.
NOTES: If you get an error about a dll missing you need to download and install the following: Download
Now your running 47A Android MM
Hope that this helps, also if you find any problems or need help please post so I can update this post.
Feel free to comment and help me to improve this guide.
The guide is attached as 7z for convenience ...
Thanks..

I seem to have bricked my wife's vs985 trying to flash jasmine ROM. Can get it to qualcomm mode but it keeps failing the eemc test at sbl1. I'll run through the guide a few more times tomorrow but its really being a pain. First the WiFi disappeared and it started acting crazy. Could be its time to go even with the new battery I purchased.

Update:
I managed to flash every file that was mention with the exception of System and User Data. Tried to power on and nothing.
I did that for some odd reason jumping the pins isn't necessary and the device populates automatically when connected to USB. I tried running KDZ but nothing. I can try and run the TOT but, I'm a bit skeptical. As of this moment I have successfully erased the eMMC but when testing it always finds some reason to fail the test.
I'm able to write with APC and Restore Boot IMG selected and as of this moment managed to get the system image re-flashed. I'm in the process of loading the User data which is about 11Gb so it'll take awhile. I still have sbl1 at the end to flash. I will note that when I did jump the pin to ground it would always fail sbl1 or load a partition.txt doesn't exist error. I extracted the TOT as directed but it just kept throwing the same error.
I did also notice when the battery is in and the usb connected it is not recognized by my PC.

very good tutorial

"partition.txt doesn't exist"
Is nowhere to be found. What can I do?

Thanks Almighty God and you alich3451, so much for this guide. My VS985 was bricks. No download, no recovery mode, black screen and the led blinks red and blue continuously when plunged. I toiled for for many researches and guides but all never worked, except this one.
Yes, I really followed the steps critically got the phone back from dead to life.
Through my experience i want to recommend the battery in before the flashing of the TOT file begins . Secondly, do not check the devices manager for the port number but ratter check and watch closely the right conner of the taskbar for the pop up messages with the port number written at the end of the message during the installing of your driver by your windows 7 PC when you plug in the phone with the battery inside. That is the port number you have to take note and use it in Com Port area of BoardDiag v2.99a during the flash of the TOT partitions.
With this added to the main guide above you should get everything working normal.
Thanks alich3451 !!

Do I need to short the pins & stuff if I get into Download Mode already? My Phone is getting shown as LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port (COM4) is that alright?

Need help please!!!
while i managed to reach up flash tool step where it stack so i had to start all over again but this time i cant even pass the first step.
I successfully sort the pins every time and after i do a successful test with BoardDiag (without emmc) and i get pass message after a few seconds its disconnects and i cant move to the rest steps.
what iam doing wrong ?

Lg Mobile Flash tool
Hello,
after I hit start on the flash tool, it opens up another lg tool that tries to download stuff from the internet. Then my stuff fails

I have G3 D858HK, when i use my current .tot file. It won't boot into download mode. When i use your model file, it successfully boot :3
Is my file corrupt?

this is different from the qhsusb_bulk mode 9025 where you see different partitions, if you are stuck in this mode please refer to this topic to unbrick .
Download the LGG2_9008_FIX.zip View attachment LGG2_9008_FIX.zip
Updated version available : View attachment BoardDiag3.99c.zip , you could try either one of these!
Extract LGG2_9008_FIX.zip , please ensure your antivirus is off during this duration, some antivirus will detect b2b.exe as a virus.
Steps 1 : (Must be done even if you have previously extracted TOT files. This will extract the files with an mbn extension as well as, more importantly it will create a partition.txt which is crucial for this fix to work)
1. Open b2b.exe
2. At the bottom of the application "Image Extraction" Select the path to the TOT file for your Phone model.
3. Select the Dir to any Dir where you would like to extract the files to. (DIR : Selects a folder to save the images extracted from the Tot file.)
4. Click on Extract and wait, this Starts extraction.
5. On completion, “Complete” pop-up appears.
Extracted files :
Step 2: Get ready to flash.
1. On The Top of the tool , select chipset as G2 (MSM8974)
2. Select port and set it to the com port where your phone shows up as QDLoader 9008 mode in Device manager, in my case com 10.
3. Set Target Dir to the same path where you just extracted the TOT files from STEP 1 part 3 above.
Step 3: Test AP & EMMC
1. On the Top left of the Tool , select the AP check box and the EMMC check box.
2. Click on Start. This will test your AP and EMMC to ensure your phone can be fixed and there are no other HW issues.
3. Once done it should say pass under test results for AP and EMMC , circled in blue refer below.
Step 4: Test AP , EMMC & SDRAM
1. On the Top left of the Tool , select the AP check box , EMMC check box & SDRAM TEST
2. Click on Start. This will test your AP, EMMC & SDRAM to ensure your phone can be fixed and there are no other HW issues.
3. Once done it should say pass under test results for AP,EMMC & SDRAM circled in blue refer below.
Thats it , if all went well and I have helped you Donate to me! :good:

First of all I want to thank @george7565 for such wonderful discovery. I'm sure that many people who bricked their phone with this guide: [FIX] NO Recovery mode, No download mode, after OTA on rooted LG G2 will fix their phones just like I did.
I found short circuiting a little bit tricky, but in the end I found the way to make it.
To short circuit the capacitors I used small piece of cooper wire cut from Ethernet UTP cable.
It's important that when short circuiting is that wire ends should touch opposite sides of the capacitors.
Also the short circuited capacitors must be next to each other horizontally. See the picture below:
As you can see, depending on what is short circuited you get QDLOADER 9008 or QHSUSB mode.
So now LG G2 is INDEED UNBRICKABLE. For those who got QDLOADER 9008 mode, see the picture, fix your phones, don't waste the money on board replacements.
After I got QHSUSB mode I had further problems. Lubuntu didn't recognized my phone's mass memory partitions, it recognized it as some 2.1TB Qualcomm disk. I found the workaround, I backedup the entire nand of my working LG G2 using this method: [GUIDE] How to make a nandroid backup directly to your computer without using sdcard, then using Computer managment -> Storage in Windows 8, I deleted all phones partitions and flashed the the backup image using Win32 Disk Imager. It's important for this one that both phones are same variant and memory capacity. After that, I restored IMEI using this tool: [TOOL] Updated! 26/06/14 - EFS Professional v2.1.73 - Also for NON-Samsung devices! Also I have a problems with GPS fix, perhaps back cover position needs some tuning, I hope this guide can help, I didn't try:

Here is some extra Information I got while digging around.
This app operates only in Qdload mode. Upon initial USB cable connection, do the following to send it to Qdload mode if no port or USB serial port is held.
Upon initial USB cable connection, don’t do the following if it’s already in Qdload mode.
Use either way below(#1 recommended) to connect the USB cable while the pin is grounded.
Check out the Device Manager for ports(COM or LPT). If Qualcomm HS-USB Qdloader 9008 port is activated, Qdload mode is successfully
ready to work!!
As for the USB cable, the SW download cable v2.1 (910K) for service is recommended!!
1. How to ground Boot Config switch
It may depend on models. Basically, the pin of the switch connected to Boot_config_0 or Boot_config_6 is grounded.
The circuit diagram above shows Q6000 switch’s #3 pin need be grounded.
2. How to ground EMMC SDC1_CLK resistance
It may depend on models. Basically, eMMC’s SDC1_CLK resistance is grounded.
The circuit diagram above shows R24010 need be grounded.
Hmm,my phone is shown in the device manager as LGE Android Phone,CDC Serial and CDC ECM
what should i do?

Can you now with b2b still opened , disconnect the phone and make sure its fully off and reconnect the phone and try (Make sure the b2b app is on all the time ).
If it still says the same then you follow the below.
1. Ensure the phone is disconnected from the PC.
2. Press and hold the power button on the phone for 15 seconds (to 100% ensure the phone is powered off).
3. Start the b2b app on the PC as administrator mode
4. Now connect the phone to PC via USB cable.
Even after that if it doesn't work, you need to try with Battery connector Disconnected.
1. Ensure the phone is disconnected from the PC.
2. Open Back cover of the phone and UNPLUG the battery connecter only
3. Start the b2b app on the PC as administrator mode
4. Now connect the phone to PC via USB cable.

That may not be supported, but try experimenting and see if one of the other options work. The G2 mini used Qualcomm MSM8226 Snapdragon 400, you could try choosing W7 G2MDS (MSM8226) . Again I don't know if this works. You could try and let us know if it did.

How to remove Enterprise Enrolment from Acer C720 (and other chromebooks) [GUIDE]

Stuck with a enterprise managed Chromebook bought second hand and unable to remove it? Here is how to 'Remove Enterprise Enrollment' from Acer C720 Chromebook (and will work for others also)
The procedure is as follows (for a Acer C 720 Chromebook) however it is the exact same for most other models the only differing part is location of the read/write screw.
Step 1: Turn off Chromebook, unplug and remove all the screws from the base.
Step 2: Remove the base off and locate the read/write protection screw
Here it is on the C720 at location 7:

}
Step 3: Screw the base on with one screw (because there is a pressure switch that won't let you start it up without having the base on)
Step 4: Plug in and go into Recovery mode (Hold Esc + Reload and press the power key). Release keys when you see the screen light up.
You'll see "Chrome OS is missing or damaged" screen
Step 5: Press Ctrl + D then enter
You'll see "Chrome OS verification is turned off"
Step 6: Press Ctrl + D and the CB will restart into developer mode.
Note: If it tells you administrator has disabled developer mode perform a hard reset by unplugging the battery internally in the device, disconnecting the power and holding down the power button for 60 seconds.
Step 7: Once in developer mode (it'll give you a warning screen then continue to boot up as usual after a few beeps) Press the keys Ctrl+Alt+-> (F2) to launch terminal
Step 8: Enter the following commands:
chronos
sudo su
vpd -l (display serial number and device info)
vpd -s “serial_number”=”0000000000X” (write serial #, can replace 0000000000X with anything you like) must be all CAPS and numbers.
(takes about 15 seconds)
vpd -l (to check change is successful as it doesn't give you any confirmation)
Step 9: Reassemble with all screws incl read/write. Reboot and turn OS verification back on.
Step 10: Enjoy your non enterprise enrolled C720 (or other) chromebook.
Step ?: (optional if you are getting error flashromPartialWrite() clean the contacts that were under the screw with isopropyl alcohol or meths to make sure there is no continuity between the points from wear.
** Note: I am not responsible for you damaging your device in any way **

I'm going to answer this a bit late in case anyone else has this question...
The R/W screw needs to be off until you are ready to put your laptop back together. (after all, you want to be able to write to bios and the screw in place will prevent this)
Doesn't work
hOW CAN YOU REMOVE THE ENTERPRISE ENROLLMENT FROM AN ACER C910
How do you do that on a c730
Version 5.4
Here I am in 2017 will be trying this on a c740 in the near future. Thank you for the guide
is this possible on a hp chromebook 11 g4, if so wher eis the read/write screw located?
I cant't get the administrator has disabled developer mode page. I have tried removing the battery as suggested and had no success.
Same!! Trying soo hard to find a solution
So, I have a Toshiba Chromebook 2. I found it has 2 screws for write protection. Removed them both, no change, I still get the developer mode disabled by the administrator message. Can`t do anything on it. Is there a custom OS I can install over the existing one so I can at least get developer mode enabled?
I have an Acer C731. I opened it up and tried to do a hard reset by unplugging the battery, with no luck. As soon as the Chromebook was connected to Wi-Fi it enrolled under administration. I also was not able to locate the R/W screw in this particular model. Help please?

Yes on my Asus CN60 chromebox, the r/w screw is screwed onto the motherboard, onto a solder pad that is a semi-circle split into two quadrants. The presence of the screw joins the two quadrants to emulate a PC jumper in the closed position.
To open this jumper, simply undo the screw all the way out and keep it safe outside of the box. Once this is done, the boot SSD is r/w, which then allows the developer mode process be able to commit its changes to the boot device.
On my Asus CN60, I think I have cleared the Enterprise enrolement by having the two items present whilst doing the power on with Recovery Button pressed.
- R/W screw removed.
- CMOS battery CR-2025 unplugged.
I am going to keep trialing. If the above has not worked, I am going to try the OP's vpd -s “serial_number”=”0000000000X” method.
ASIDE: I am going to keep a note of the serial number I am overwriting in case this is of any future use.
The reason why I say I think I have removed the enterprise enrolement, is before, I could not login at all. Now, whilst in the developer mode, I can now login using my normal non enterprise login.
I have yet to boot into a normal non developer mode if possible, and see if I can login there.
I've bypassed enterprise enrollment so I can login and use the chromebook normally, but I wasn't able to locate the r/w screw so I can move forward with installing Linux.

LG D325 - boot error, boot certification verify, DBI Err fatal

Device: LG-D325
I tried rooting, unlocking bootloader, and installing custom rom (this link).
I successfully gained root & unlocked bootloader. Than it all went down.
I flashed recovery and booted into it, using "fastboot boot recovery.img" command.
I flashed cm12.1 and after that I got the "purple screen" error.
When phone is off and I try to normally turn it on:
1st screen:
Code:
Secure booting error!
Cause: boot certification verify
2nd screen:
Code:
DemiGod Crash Handler : DBI Err Fatal!
Board Rev.: 1.0
Ram dump mode.
Option : SD card ram dump mode.
Push below files to sd card before test.
rdcookie.txt, rtcookie.txt
Please do following action.
1) Ram dump Mode. Please connect USB.
2) Get the ram dump image using QPST Configuration.
3) If sdcard ram dump enabled just wait for reboot.
4) Collect ramdump files from your pc or sdcard.
5) Send e-mail to [email protected]
The same happens when I plug in the USB cable when phone shut off.
Also, I cannot enter the fastboot menu (previously I could - before flashing CM12.1 via recovery) using volume UP + power buttons. Therefore, I cannot enter recovery.
Any info on this situation?
You need to short the test point of your phone and force the phone to qhsusb dload mode after that boot repair
it will repair your phone's download mode
And flash the phone
Br

Is there any way to fix this problem bro with out jtak
Thanks.
The test point method is not the JTAG method

Use the test point method. It works very well and it's quite easy. But first I recommend you try "LG Flash Tool 2014" . If that works, no need to open up the phone for test point method. If you are already seeing pink screen demigod error DBI fatal error, no need to go for JTAG I think.
Feel free to ask if you need assistance for testpoint method. I have already published the method for few other people here on XDA. A little search will bring you there

After format to fat32 it was 4gb.When i,ve installed loader.img it became 64mb with 2 folders in it. I think you are referring to the famous "purple screen" mode. Relax, that is not hard to get pass.
Follow the steps below.
But, be warned, I am not responsible for any damage caused by following these methods.
Your phone's battery has to be charged at least 50%.
You'll need a USB "data" cable. The one came with your phone is the best. Some third party cables have only power lines connected in and they will not work. So, make sure you have the "data" cable.
1. First, we have to install the necessary drivers(I am assuming that you're using a Windows PC) .
Here are the drivers. Download, install and give your PC a restart.
2. Download LG flash tool 2014 from here and extract it to your root directory(For example, drive "C " in your PC )
3. Download the firmware file for your specific phone model. In your case, as you have mentioned, it is LG D325. This is a link to a matching firmware for LG L70 D325. This file is big and its around 920MB. After download, extract the zip file to the folder where you copied the LG Flash tool 2014.
4. I hope the above mentioned steps were followed correctly and you're ready now. Remove your battery, press the power button for 5-10 seconds and then re insert the battery. press the volume up button and plug the USB cable(The other end has to be plugged in first to PC. Refer to this video if you are unclear.
5. Now launch "LG Flash tool 2014.3.exe" (right click on it and select "run as administrator" for best results).
6. Once the program is open, and click on 1 and select your kdz file which you got from the step 3. Then click either "Normal Flash(2)" of "CSE Flash".

}
7. Now another window will appear and click "Start" as in this picture.
wait until the program finishes and once done, you'll get the initial setup screen on your phone with a greeting message.
If you're still unclear, please pass a comment. Happy communicating..

Sure.
As the Post above mentioned (in the first comment) ,thats the way to go to fix a Hard bricked / bootloop stuck / no Display.
But if you encounter any problems or issues like i did (the QualCom 9008 ...).I did these
Note : all downloads for this adventure are already present in that guide ,Give it a thumbs up after you fix it as it just recovered a potato , link
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/general/guide-mega-unbrick-guide-hard-bricked-t3272108
Step 1: Requirements
Download the qualcom drivers,fastboot-adb all of that, even though i had them installed,i did a clean installation.
Download the Huge 800MB file (the Recovery tool).
Unzip them to the Desktop, 2 folders (1 for the Qualcomm driver, another for the msm).
Step 2: Set-up
Follow the turning off drive signature process from the post above ,Its fairly simple(press shift restart,advanced,f7 restart).
Install adb-drivers.
Switch off phone (press Power Button for 12 sec or so )till it vibrates and display is blank.
Press the Power Up button and plug in the Phone to your comp
If your Internet connection is turned on,mostly windows will itself download and install the driver(qualcom-xxx) for this device.
Step 3:
Now Unplug the phone.Switch it off(your display will be blank ,to begin with but remove phone press power button 12 sec (wait for vibrate )
Press power button up and plug it back in the comp. When you do this navigate to the Device manager tab ,A new entry in that table will be present Ports & Coms or so. If you dont have this ,no worries (go back to the First step and try to get your drivers re-Installed) .
Now that you have located your com port, RELINK HS-USB QDLOADER 9008(com3) in my case( you might have anything else ,but getting this is crucial).
On that Entry right click and go to Properties. In properties > Driver Tab > Update Driver
Once you click Update, Click on Browse my comp for driver
Then Click on LET ME PICK FROM A LIST
UNCHECK the SHOW COMPATIBLE HARDWARE // Have to do this !
Under Manufacturer,FIND Qualcomm Incorporated
Under MODEL,Select QUALCOMM HS- USB MSM DIAGNOSTICS xxxx (i chose the first entry,BUT MSM is integral).
Install that .RESTART COMP,IT'll PROMPT.
UNPLUG PHONE ,SWITCH OFF ,Press POWER UP+ for 12sec
Reconnect to the comp ,now your DEVICE MANAGER will show your port ENTRY as QUALCOMM HS-USB MSM DIAGNOSTICS
Click on that entry and Click on Properties > Driver >Update >Browse my comp >
Now select the folder in which you have downloaded the Qualcomm drivers x64 or x86 (from the post above ,you should have downloaded them in the beginning).
Now install that , If it asks for an Restart COMP ,RESTART comp( i restarted, just to be safe).
Step 4 : Completion
Connect the phone in fastboot mode(Just the power up+ & connect )
msm.exe > open in admin mode.
Open up the MSM.exe in the folder (the big file that you downloaded earlier the 800MB one )
It will recognize your device,If it doesn't.
Unplug Phone.
Power Off
Power Up+ ,wait 10sec ,and Plug in ,(hold the power up)
MSM.exe will recognise your device, Try to click start on that and see if it triggers it ,else just close and reopen msm.exe
Your device will be recognised Press Start, it'll do the rest.
After all this,a recovery mode will show up,click yes/ no and Continue.

Mi Box 3 (MDZ-16-AB) downgrade Android 9 Pie to Android 8 oreo

My English is very poor, I use Chinese, with the original Chinese tutorial. Use GOOGLE Translate to English to share the downgrade process. The process is very simple. I hope to help people who want to downgrade from pie to oreo without losing the DRM copyright, WIFI, Bluetooth, and Netflix SN.
Model: MI BOX 3 ( MDZ-16-AB) downgrade Android 9 Pie R2926 to Android 8 oreo R2167
Tools needed:
PC Windows 7 OS or higher, it is recommended to use the rear USB port of the computer
Download MDZ16AB.IMG firmware
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-fGnIP7iLmpHUNRPhlWyEnEVHuraDc1q?usp=sharing
Download Amlogic-USB_Burning_Tool_v2.2.0

Download MI BOX3 Oreo R2167 Update.zip
https://mega.nz/file/gh0xCCrR#ctdPivezVFNAuMLq19eOepO1LHJCfVNhowmZz7Fx87s
USB Male to Male cable, buy it or make it yourself.
USB flash disk-Format Fat32
--------Start----------
1. Open Amlogic-USB_Burning_Tool and click the upper left corner to load MDZ16AB.IMG firmware. After the firmware verification is completed, pay attention to the option on the right, DO NOT ERASE ALL. Uncheck Erase bootloader and keep it to'Normal erase', this is to keep DRM keys which allows Netflix to work. Once again, confirm that there is no selection error and click "Start".

2. Use a USB Male to Male cable to connect the PC and MI BOX 3 that is not powered on, and then press and hold the Bluetooth remote control hold Back+Okay, turn on the power of MI BOX 3, and enter Recovery mode.
3. On the Recovery interface, use the Bluetooth remote control, select Reboot to bootloader, press confirm, MI BOX 3 will restart, and the TV will display a gray MI LOGO interface, successfully enter the official bootloader preload certification, be careful not to disconnect USB Male to Male cable.
4. Unplug the power of MI BOX 3 again, wait for 5 to 10 seconds, press and hold the Bluetooth remote control hold Back+Okay, turn on the power of MI BOX 3, you will see the Amlogic-USB_Burning_Tool progress bar moving, from 1 % To 100%.
5. After the Amlogic-USB_Burning_Tool progress reaches 100%, click Stop and unplug the USB cable, power off and restart MI BOX 3. Then MI BOX 3 will enter the recovery cycle, don't be afraid.
6. Power off MI BOX 3, save the oreo R2167 upgrade file into a FAT32 format U disk, insert the USB port of MI BOX 3, turn on the power, it will automatically update, the update process is about 5 minutes, after the update is complete, you will Successfully fall back to Android oreo r2167. Enter Recovery mode again, Wipe clears the date and cache and restarts to complete.
For the recovery cycle, please check the tutorial:
http://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/97rvqg/mi_box_stuck_in_recovery_mode/e4ct7n0/
This method may help restore the mirror image of the mi box that can enter the Recovery mode and become a brick. For example, Amlogic-USB_Burning_Tool displays a 1% Low_Power error, but it is not guaranteed.
Please download the complete img file, it cannot be damaged. Use high-quality USB cable, high-quality U disk, use computer rear USB interface

https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/97rvqg/mi_box_stuck_in_recovery_mode/e4ct7n0/
Thanks for your information, I'm tried to mibox downgrade ,too.
My mother language is chinese, too.
Thanks again. (再次感謝)
can you share the source link please
Can you share the original link of the source?
When I leave the male usb cable connected (pc to the mibox3) I cannot enter the recovery, first I have to disconnect the male usb cable, in this way if I can access the recovery, is this so ?. Another thing is that the usb cable connected to the pc at no time recognizes the mi box.
Wouldn't you have to open the mibox3 to cut short, as was done with the 16-AA version?
I am using windows 10 home and if I could install the driver, the male to male cable had already been used to flash other devices.

I just tried another laptop that has windows 10 pro, and the downgrade has worked perfectly for me.
I'd like to try this on my device, however I cannot get into recovery mode. My Mi Box powers up, but does not seem to output anything via HDMI at all

You have successfully downgraded from pie to oreo, this post is the source link. There is no need to disassemble the mi box 3. Again: no need to disassemble the mibox 3. Steps 1 to 3, mibox3 is not displayed in amlogic_burning_tool as connected. This is to use the power-off bug to let the official bootloader perform secondary boot loading. When amlogic_burning_tool recognizes a bootloader that does not initially load the system ROM flash, it will activate the amlogic_burning_tool flashing process. Xiaomi may block this bootloader vulnerability in future system upgrades.

Your mibox3 must be able to enter recovery normally before you can use this method to downgrade. If your device's flash memory is damaged, you cannot do anything.

Press and hold the back + OK button of the Bluetooth remote control, and then turn on the power supply of mibox3, which will enter recovery. TV does not have HDMI image display, if your mibox is not faulty, you should check the TV input and HDMI cable

Your mibox3 must be able to enter recovery normally before you can use this method to downgrade. If your device's flash memory is damaged, you cannot do anything.

Please make sure that your mibox3 is running normally and there is no fault before it can be degraded! Do not need to open the circuit board, strictly follow my tutorial operation

Hi, my Mi Box powers up, but does not seem to output anything via HDMI at all. Any advice on how to get it running again?

that instruction good for future "romintruders"...
but i (without any claims or towards you or your tutorial) just need any help or suggestion, not a warning ... - because all this has already happened to me ;/
...and although I'm sure that on my mibox3 had everything running normally and there was is no faults !! -... for one reason or another ...- something went [email protected]#$%F$ wrong - during the operation process
... and I'm definitely not the only one with whom the same thing happened ...
This worked perfectly. Skipped the last recovery/wipe, after upgrade it was factory reset already.
Downgrade fixed the terrible ghosting for me. Picture is so much better in orea.
Didn't try DRM yet, but Netflix cert is there
Hello, I have also downgraded successfully to Oreo. But the process was slightly different.
2] within step 2 (after I pressed Start and connected box via USB cable) - I pressed these two keys on the remote, connected power supply, after MiBox logo appeared I released the keys on remote, and expected the box would go to recovery. Instead the flashing started immediately. Thus I skipped the part making the box to reboot to Bootloader.
PS: anyone knows how come please? Why is the phase with bootloader needed and what is the risk when this not happens?
Maybe it's needed to hold the keys until the box is really in recovery?
Anyway - flashing went to 100% => success.
5] in step I was expecting the box will go into recovery. But nope - it was showing me the 4 colored rotating logos (as when the box is booting regularly) but it had stacked in this state.
So I took the pen drive with the update files and inserted it into box's USB port - attached the power while having 2 buttons presed on the remote and box started doing update. After it's all finished I am a lucky owner of MiBox 3 with Oreo build 2562 again.
BTW - my reason to downgrade was to use Darken WakeLock which stopped working on Pie ROMs (on both MiBox 3 and MiBox S). This allows the box to be waken up from standby - either by TV CEC or by Chromecast which is ready to cast even in standby).

Please make sure you have downloaded the image correctly. My downloads were corrupted when using Chrome on a Windows computer (twice). I used an Android tablet to download, then it was OK.
I used a package from a link I have found on the Russian forum (4pda).

Good luck to all who want to get box downgraded too.
Hello. I tried to downgrade, but with no succes, sadly.
After step 4, the Amlogic USB Burning Tool progress bar does not move and the flashing does not start. Actually there is no HUB and no progress bar like in your photo. After a short time the device boots to recovery. Where is the problem? Can you help?
The device is on PI.3175 release-keys build.
I'm using an ASUS X550 laptop with Windows 10.
I´m able to boot to recovery, the select reboot to bootloader but the computer/Amlogic USB burning tool does not detect the mi box
Any suggestions?
i downgraded to android 8 build 2167 successfully but i found 1 problem, i check for new update OS through OTA it give me result that there is no new update,
i'm wondering is that there is no new update at this moment or maybe it's because of downgrading to android 8 make it unable to update to new build versions of android 8 ?
is anyone have the same problem like me ?
