What about switching to 2g/3g only in mobile network settings? Do you have 4G where you live? My network provider doesn't offer 4G at the moment and so it's the first thing I switch off when I get a new phone as there's no point having the mobile radio searching for a 4G connection when there isn't one available.

I tried already, i switch to 3g, but it has no effect, firstly i think it because china rom, but global rom has the same error, even multi and EU rom has that error, cant understand

And I found out that my phone doesn't have deep sleep state, whatever rom I use

Do you keep WiFi on all the time?
Did you ever install a fresh rom in case there was any preinstalled malware?

Redmi Note 4 has a software bug which prevents CPU going to deep sleep. This is easily observed via CPU Spy or some other similar tool.
There are couple of ways to solve it, but the easiest one is just to swap your SIM card to one that supports LTE (4G). You don't have to use 4G networks, you just need new SIM card and CPU will go to deep sleep.
If this is not option for you, this is permanent solution (requires root):
http: // en .miui. com/thread-386101-1-1.html
Also there is temporary fix (which works until phone is restarted), but I just can't find it anymore
Try googling turn on "lte ram dump deep sleep" or something like that. There is step-by-step manual how to enable deep sleep from hidden service menu.

Thanks, I was looking at the root option and the fix you can flash in twrp. I have a 4G sim (I think), my network is an mvno and only launched 4g a couple of weeks back. My sim is a new one I got back July but I wonder if it would be worth requesting a replacement that now might actually be 4g capable. I don't have a 4g data plan and won't be adding one for a while but maybe just having a new 4g sim would help.
I'm in the UK and I previously had a chinese phone and used an app to change the network mode to GSM/CDMA (I think), as I think it was set to wcdma like the RN4. I can access the same settings on the RN4 by tapping on the internal storage amount under about phone in settings and the options are there, but when you change it,it isn't saved and reverts to the default.

It will help. I had same issue with Redmi Note 4 and 4G card did the trick. I use 2G/EDGE networks on a daily basis, as it preserves battery life even more.

OK so I flashed the fix from the MIUI forum and the phone is deep sleeping now! The estimated battery time left has changed from ~16hrs remaining to 6 days!! I'll report back how the battery life holds up from this charge, its morning here now and it charged fully nearly 7 hours ago.

Yes it's this one, there's two zips to flash in twrp or you can do it manually with root explorer if you have it:

hi mate,
as you have told you have flashed the device, can you please tell me which rom version you have installed?
i am new in xioami note 4 with android system, so cannot figure it out how to stop draining the battery so fast.
without using net or gaming it stays max 16 hours.

I am currently on the china beta/dev rom (not the latest version) and flashed the fix from the below link which helped standby battery drain. But the fix is compatible with the global/china/eu rom i think.
http://en.miui.com/thread-386101-1-1.html

So do you think you guys are having the problem from the 3G or something else?
I flashed Xiaomi.eu Stable V8.1.3.0 when I got this device then the Weekly about a week later.
You guys seem to be getting a fair bit worse than me but imo SOT can be a bit relative depending on what you do when the screen is actually on.
Here's mine:

I think mine has definitely improved and the 4G fix definitely helped also. Here's my current battery stats.

I'm having flaky battery issues myself, but I'm already using a 4G card. What ROM has performance and no battery failure? So far I find myself wishing I had not bought Xioami again... Are the Chinese ROMs more stable?

let us know if you find the culprit...im just not sure.
GPSd would be the GPS Daemon. Means your GPS is active? Do you use Cerebus/Find my Droid/Samsung mobile services? If any of these are active and tracking your device then that might explain it?
I am getting the same issue, I was using gamerzrom rom since a week without issues, yesterday the problem started and the battery is sucked so fast..
Do you have Mobile Defense installed? Using the BetterBatteryStats app it appears that for me the drain is related to a part of Mobile Defense. It was listed as "ars" related to the Mobile Defense process which caused a 55m wakelock & spiked gpsd to use a steady 25% CPU.
In Mobile Defense settings I disabled all backup options and checked all boxes under the Malware scanning preferences. I haven't seen the issue surface in 2 days.

GPSD drain batery about 50%, and do not know it because Turkbay rom or for something else? Now just download Turkbay 2 and I will see then.
I'm not on the SGS3, I'm on the galaxy Note, I never had this issue with GB. I am now on ICS and it's always using 60+ battery% of my battery. It drives me nuts!
Someone said to disable Samsung Dive from the security options and that should fix it.

My GPS was off during this whole time...
I have managed to "fix" this for now. I just rebooted my device, and managed to get two days of over 16hrs for a charged battery.
I remedied this issue just by upgrading my software. I jumped into ICS and the last two roms haven't had this issue. So all I can say is... Update. Good luck guys.

Yesterday My I9300 also has the same problem, and I didn't enable the Samsungdive function.
but I know that it should relate to GPS. below is what i do.
1. I empty all GPS software buffer.
2. Switch off phone,
3. Take out SIM card,
4. Switch on phone, disable wifi,
5. Open the GPS software then search GPS signal,
6. after GPS get your position, then empty the GPS software buffer again.
..............Then the GPSD never drain your battery.
I think this is a bug, the GPS is always searching for the GPS signal so that drain the battery.

I'm so fed up with my wi-fi not working I'm about to throw my phone across the room

As much as I love this phone I'm really starting to hate it. When I first got the phone I had problems with the wi-fi dropping and when you wake the phone it would come back on along with the awful multi-tasking recent apps. After the OTA it doesn't seem to do that anymore.
Now what it does it will show my wi-fi is connected full strength but I go to use the browser, an app, play store whatever and nothing. Just sits there forever no internet connection. I have to toggle wi-fi on and off for it to work again. I use wi-fi all day at work & while I'm home obviously so this issue affects me a lot. The router is a WRT54GL running Tomato which I have been running for years it's been ROCK SOLID on all my devices (including evo3D, original evo, laptop, etc) I just recently rooted and am running Stock With Goodies part of my reason for rooting I thought the wi-fi would maybe have been fixed but same issue on this rom as well.
It's so frustrating to pick up your phone to do something and have zero connectivity so you have to restart your app your trying to use cause it gets errors. I have tried everything I can think of, setting it to 2.4 only, high performance, changing channels on the router (again other devices work perfect). I don't know what to do about it anymore, I could bring it in to Sprint which I will absolutely not bring to them unless absolute less resort usually I know more then them anyway. They are just gonna tell me it works fine and give the phone back so I came here looking for some advice. Not really sure where to go from here but I can't stand having the phone like this. Does anyone have the same issue as me or is it possible my radio is bad? Speed are signal levels are just fine when it's working. Also it seems the longer the phone sits in sleep the more likely it is to happen.
Try going to WiFi settings. Then menu that and click "Best WiFi performance" that solved it for me. Running viper 4g and had a consistent problem with the WiFi dropping and reconnecting or not connecting at all.

How does this affect your battery? I'm trying to figure out what is even causing this issue if it's just the router, my phone only or what.
Best wifi performance will seriously impact your battery. It prevents your phone from sleeping properly. I found that I got an extra 10 hrs of life when I disabled best performance when I was still running stock.

Yea I'm starting to think so as well, I don't have 3G problems actually the 3G radio I think is pretty good. I don't have the drop out problems anymore just after the phone being idle on wi-fi for a while I have to toggle it on and off for it to actually work. My signal levels and speeds are totally find when it's connected it's just letting it sit sleeping for a while is when I have the trouble. It's super annoying I pick my phone up to do something and it doesn't work.

I just really don't know if it's an issue with the hardware or software. I have no issues what so every with the wi-fi hot spots at my work and home with any other devices and all my old phones never had issues.

Yeah. I don't remember having those issues with my first LTE but then again I didn't have it that long before I took it back to BB for a borked NFC chip. Wondering how their return policy is on a phone past the initial 30 day purchase..
yea my wifi just randomly drops and reconnect all the time and some time my data to it guess anoying after awhile when your usein the browser at work
Think this has been discussed before. The latest ota was supposed to fix the WiFi dropping, so if you have that and still experience problems then it's hardware related.
My first LTE dropped WiFi for 3g constantly. No matter what I did it kept happening. Finally took it back after I messed w gwallet too many times and got secure element error. New one doesn't drop WiFi at all. Also haven't updated to newest ota.
Ask me about my ability to annoy complete strangers!
I have newest OTA I don't get the disconnection issues any more since then but rather it staying connecting but not being able to get online after the phone sits idle. I have another person that has the exact same issue with me having to cycle wi-fi to get it working. I'm starting to think maybe it's something to do with Tomato but I have never had issues with it on any other device.
Every tomato Rom I used before was awesome and never had issues either.
Noticed that when I wake my phone it doesn't want to connect on WiFi. 3g disconnects a lot on bad signal too.
WiFi isn't as bad when I use juice defender. Mainly because it reconnects all radios when awakened though.
Ask me about my ability to annoy complete strangers!

Sorry to hear about the battery life. I personally have had amazing battery life. My phone was at 14% when I went to sleep and woke up to 7%. Not sure what the issue is. Connectivity is the only thing that stands out. I doubt she had bad reception. Any apps she's downloaded that could be using her connection more than it needs to? Only other thing could be is the battery. Does she leave it plugged in all night?

Well she was getting great battery life before 2.06 I think. And I know my house, the area is quite strong for a connection. It could be a bad update, but without me actually on the phone myself kinda hard to pin it down. Before the update she only installed a few apps. She already uninstalled 3 of them which she never used. I just looked the apps via Google Play online account and nothing looks suspicious and those are all the same apps she used on the Inc2 before she got the DNA

My guess the update didn't go as planned. Tell her to move all her files to her pc and do s factory reset. Hopefully that corrects the issue. All else fails. She could let the bootloader redo the update and hope that was the case.

Are you turning off data? Perhaps facebook is keeping your phone constantly awake(looks like it) and that kills your battery. First post a picture of the "other" category in better battery stats and get one power guard and post a screenshot of the "statistics" page.
Download gsam and look at what's taking up a big %. Somethings keeping your phone from going into deep sleep.

Yes I had her turn data off. The only time she is on 4G/3G is on the road. Her work place and home is all WiFi use. She is charging the phone so I'll have to get it for tomorrow.

Look at the wakelocks in gsam.
And gmail seems pretty high.

Alright I told her to do that. Gmail is quite odd. I think the damn 2.06 update went bad but i can't be sure
EDIT: Here it is. Well the first one was a joke. My mother is a funny one. I suspected the worse. msm_hsic_host. Any way I can fix it without teaching my mom how to root or do other various mods?
Looks like she has bad reception. Go to settings, about and network to see the signal strength. msm_hsic wakelocks happen when you have a bad signal, ril also causes wakelocks. This is probably the issue(90% sure).

msm_hsic only relating to the S4 pro chipset or all phones? Cause I have very little signal where I sit in my room and I don't get anything msm, just a screw ton of rilj on a Galaxy S3

Try turning off "fastboot", make sure GPS and Bluetooth are "off"
Just some info you can take a screen shot by pressing the power button and the home button. Press power then quickly press the home key. Just thought that would help ya out with your captures.

No Deep Sleep?

Trying to figure out why my battery life is relatively crappy (usually averaging >8% drain/hour under typical use), even when I'm not using the device.
Anyone on Marshmallow (Android 6.0) able to experience the 'Deep Sleep' processor state? I cannot, and I'm trying to determine if there's a particular app (or more) that's causing wakelocks, or if this is just something I need to live with. Without root, it's nearly impossible to tell what's causing wakelocks directly.
If it is an app, I can try to find it, but I really don't want to uninstall and then selectively re-install hundreds of apps only to find out that the device doesn't sleep anyway (if rooted, I could freeze all user apps and then slowly unfreeze, but that's not an option without root).
To be clear, I'm NOT talking about the Doze feature that comes with Android 6.0. I'm talking about the Deep Sleep processor state that is below the low (384Mhz) processor state.
On all my other previous devices, I've achieved this state - granted, most of these were rooted, and I had custom ROMS and custom governors. This device seems to use the Interactive Governor. Maybe that governor doesn't sleep at all?
Anyway, if one or more of you confirm that you're achieving this state, then I'll burn some more time on it, otherwise....
thanks!

I'm getting deep sleep. The battery drain could just be the phone itself. My battery life on the v10 is also pretty bad.

Thank you. Here's mine. Notice zero deep sleep in many, many hours. I feel like this is something that has changed.

I guess I'll (reluctantly) do a factory reset and add my apps back. Thanks.

Yes, Android 6. Unfortunately wake lock info is all but useless without root, unless the offender is really obvious.
I uninstalled almost 130 apps, and this far have reinstalled a little over half. The good news is that she's sleeping again. The bad news is that I'm still not sure which app was causing the issue.

Be thankful you aren't me right now. I just rooted and put xposed on my phone and my battery is draining from 100% to dead in about 2hours 45minutes...with no screen on time. Granted I'm using wifi tether but still that isn't good, nor normal. When I'm using the phone it's dying at an extreme rate; Like phones from 4 and 5 years ago would. Battery usage says android system is causing most of the drain. Something is seriously wrong ><

That's just wrong. Did you change out the ROM for a custom one, or just root? You might want to try a full wipe and start over if you haven't already.
Truthfully, a couple months ago I debated not taking the MM upgrade so that I could root 5.1.x. - ostensibly to give me more control over battery-related information and activities. I took the upgrade, and - now that my device is sleeping again - I'm kinda glad I did - Android's getting better at controlling rogue apps and with other battery saving methods (e.g., Doze mode). I guess what I'm saying is that if you can't fix your massive drain issue, you could always unroot and take the upgrade ...

I got it sorted. Back to normal battery life.
I was actually on MM for a while but I had to get another phone because my old one started having some screen issues and the one they sent me had 5.1.1 on it so I decided to go ahead and not upgrade this time so I could root and have xposed. For now I'm sticking with 5.1.1 Now that I have everything setup I'm getting great battery life. I got over 4 hours of SOT time yesterday and today 6/6/2016 I got over 3 hours of SOT and 2 hours of tethering and about 10 hours overall before having to plug in.
Once I wiped after OTA my battery was WAY better.
I'm having a serious battery drain problem that i cannot figure out. I'm on mm 6.0 and the phone won't doze nor deep sleep. I did a factory reset several times and it's still eating battery in a ridiculous manner. Any help is appreciated.

Extremely mediocre battery life?

Hey everyone,
The battery life on my S9+ seems extremely mediocre. After not even 2 hours of SOT I am left with less then 25% battery. Also, Google seems to be using the most battery.

Is this a recognizable and fixable problem or should I send it back?
Thanks for your help!
That could be due to not-so-optimized software.
My device is still stuck on the January update, so I'd guess that there will be an update soon.
Future updates might very well fix / improve the SoT, so it's basically down to: do you want to wait for updates or are you willing to use custom roms down the line?
If you answered "no" to both, then feel free to return it and get a different device.

You can pretty much be confident it'll be a software issue and nothing to do with hardware. There will be fixes and optimizations coming. Naturally the battery burns down a lot faster in the first few days.

I'm now on 2 percent after 2 hours and 10 minutes SOT. Surely this must be more than unoptimized software? My S8+ lasted way longer and software wise it seems the same.
For me it's decent, this is my first charge (s9+ duos)

That's not normal at all. Do you use the Google app regularly? Perhaps for voice searches or something like that?
I'ts not supposed to drain anywhere near that much.
The March security patch OTA was released for some countries today, check for an update, and after installing it, I'd recommend a factory reset and then start from scratch.

I don’t use the Google App at all I think. I do have Google Assisant and “OK Google” on, but surely that cannot be the cause? I haven’t used it once today.
I’m letting it charge back to 100% after which I will see if there’s an update. If it’s the same thing tommorow, i should probably return it, right?

No, don't return it just yet. This isn't a hardware problem.
Check if there's an update for the Google app, if not, here is the latest stable APK for it:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...le-app-7-22-24-21-arm64-android-apk-download/
Once you install this. Clear cache and data for the app, reboot your phone. Charge it fully to 100% and then go about your day and see if the battery life changes.
If it doesn't, give it one last shot by doing a factory reset (and/or updating to the March patch), and then observing battery drain.
If all that fails, then yeah sure, return it.
You have some weird thing going on
As you can see the battery is great it might be that its downloading all of your email attachments you should disable downloading email attachments via wifi on your gmail account. Reset phone and dont install it see how it goes first

I installed the latest Google app using the link you provided and cleared the cache and data. There weren't any software updates available yet, however.
I do have a suspicion. Normally I always set my phone up from scratch but this time I used Samsung Smart Switch to quickly move things over from my S8+. I've got a feeling that this may be the cause but I'm not sure. I'll see how it goes first before I reset my phone.

It can take at least several charge/discharge cycles for the metrics related to discharge levels to home in an a reasonably accurate curve, and this also depends on your particular app usage pattern. For now, as the HGTTU says: "Don't Panic!"
