My smartphone keyboard doesn't work PLZ help! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

recently I bought doogee x5 max smartphone from china and I am satisfied with everything except for ONE THING.
the keyboard. even if I type in normal speed. it eats up my words therefore appears like this generally(when typing "xdadeveloper", it is shown on the screen like "xddvlopr") I didnt have same issue with my previous phones (in total 4)
and among all keys , some specific keys work worse than others like P or T
I tried everything I could do for instance, updated using OTA, manually flash stock firmware via needrom, had factory reset 3 times, installed almost every keyboard applications on google play turned off every animation setting in developer option.
its not like a lag I guess since if its not about the letter I type being shown say 2 seconds later, but it just omits the some of the letter in a word.
any advice will be greatly appreciated. I know this is cheap phone so I can not expect too much but this annoys me as HEXX because this is keyboard, used everyday, every time I do the task with my device.
Thank you!
ps) my smartphone has android 6.0 marshmallow, mediatek mtk6580, 1gb ram and 8gb rom, I never tried rootfor this phone. because I bought this just a week ago and I admit I am not gadget prick with plentiful knowledge on machines.

Hmm. This is an odd issue if it is affecting different keyboard apps as well...
I'm wondering if it is a problem with the touch sensitivity? Do you have the same issue whether the phone is upright or on it's side? With different keyboard apps, do the same letters not appear or is it random? Does it make any difference on the other keyboard apps if you resize the keyboard or not (only some support this)?

touch itself works just fine when I tap on anything such as web surfing, playing games and checking my emails etc.. and whether upright or sideview, its the same sadly and I dont mean some letters does not completely work but its lame and untyped 3 or 4 times out of 10 , high enough to not have a normal daily use. but yeah, whatever keyboard app I use, same letter goes wrong. and resizing the keyboard layout makes no difference.
I wish there is magic pills to cure this disease. like performance booster app or something if you can recommend me.

Keyboard not working in browser9

I have opera and Dolphin installed in extended memory. For some reason when I go to an email provider like gmai! Or I need to fill something like writing this, when I tap the screen to get the keyboard it doesn't matter come up. Sometimes it will resize. Other times it just flashes blue and refuses to do anything. Any thoughts?
I don't want to be rude, but we could use a little more information. Are you stock, custom GB, or HC? When was it last working, if ever? Any recent downloads? Any changes or tweaks to any settings? Have you downloaded a new keyboard replacement, etc?
Forgive me. Completely stock best buy flyer. I do have SwiftKey and graphetti installed, you Graphetti won't come up at all. Recently crashed device installed everything I could in extended memory.
Everything worked before crash except sometimes some apps wouldn't load, sometimes I would get out of memory errors and sometimes the keyboard would get a mind of its own and display multiple letters for each letter I would type.
I believe Swiftkey has to be purchased after a certain number of days (14) or it stops working (at least the tablet version). I have used graffiti going all the way back to the days of my apple newton. For graffiti, there is no free edition, so that should not be an issue. I had graffiti installed but did not like it. You probably already did this, but swiftkey won't work unless you go through the five steps. You activate those either in settings or in the apps folder by selecting it. Graffiti also needs prior steps before it works. Does the standard keyboard still work when you select it?
You need to use SwiftKey x for tablets on the Flyer. The phone version is not supported and does not function properly.

Keyboard disappearance - Generic or Titan only?

Is it just Titan or Is it just WP over all?
Is it OS-associated or Is it App-associated?
I am inclined to believe keyboard disappearing few times while writing is more associated to random apps and only in Titan.
I haven't found other device users talking about such experience but few apps e.g. WhatsApp - has it more frequent!
How I wish with all these fantastic facilities, the developers for so called big apps used more knowledge to make better apps! They make such rubbish apps even after having far more functionalities on offer from the OS.

Does that suggest that it's OS related? Does it disappear when using only certain apps?
When I am emailing or using anything in ME tile - it never disappears. It often disappears while I type things within an app. It is very very rare when using messaging or IE.
It's a WP7 bug. It's due to the background agents. There are certain apps that do something in the background and make the keyboard disappear. Go to Settings > applications > background tasks and disable Background Agents on each application. Obviously if that app has to run in the background its functionality will be reduced but if you are having a lot of trouble with the keyboard disappearing this is the only fix for now.
This video shows a background task activating and the keyboard being hidden as a result:
I only have this issue(sometimes) when posting in forums. Aside from that,it works fine and doesn't disappear. ( such typing a text or browsing internet.....)
I have the same thing happen to me. I guess it's just a Titan bug.
The only two problems that really bugged me on my Titan were the keyboard disappearing and Espn goals not playing videos. They have both now started to work very well after my last update.
Kinda solution
Greetings,
I only had this problem like 2 times. And its most certainly because of the background apps running. I am a casual mobile user, and does not have many apps running at the same time. So am not experiencing this problem.
Possible solution = use single app at one time, and before using another app, quit it by using the back button on the phone.
I know it completely makes the multitasking ability a waste, but I don't use more than one app at a time, except for listening to music.
Try out this for a couple of days, and see if you still have the disappearing keyboard.

I think I've even narrowed down your issue here!
It only happens when you have certain buggy apps that launch and un-launch your keyboards. Developers need to be more professional when making apps that use your internet.
example - I've tested it with Board express app as well as twitter and facebook apps. I think when you start writing something in these apps e.g. a forum post, a tweet or a reply to any message, it launches your keyboard. After a bit of inactivity it tries to un-launch it so that you could use the full screen estate. However that was meant to be a useful function by MS. So say you were writing a long post, then wanted to do something else while multi-tasking or something on your PC and the app stays there doing nothing, it stops using the keyboard. Less resources, less memory intense etc - the coool features stuff.
However, when these apps go in background, after a while they become dormant anyway. So if they run in background while you use for emailing, text or something involving your keyboard it keeps crazily unlaunching it! It doesn't understand that you don't want the keyboard for their app but for something else!
It doesn't happen that often thankfully! Only happened 3 times in nearly 2 months for me. But when that does happen, if you go to multitasking view and get rid of those apps that do this, you won't have the issue. Also a restart simply stops it for a long long time.
This is a WP bug where the background tasks are putting the keyboard into the foreground. Only way to stop it from happening is to disable all background agents from running in Settings.
I didn't have this happen with the HTC surround, but that was pr-mango. I din't have it happen with Dell Venue Pro, but that has a physical keyboard so maybe I didn't notice. Regardless, in my experience it's just Titan

[Q] Very strange and annoying problem with HTC Sense keyboard.

I'm on T-mobile and got an HTC One a couple weeks ago. It is running android version 4.1.2 with HTC Sense version 5.0.
Everything is great except for an inexplicable problem I have when typing on the keyboard (HTC Sense input). No swype, just typing.
Normally, if you type a word that isn't in the dictionary, it displays the word you actually typed on the "word bar" that pops up. It shows up on the leftmost side. If you tap the word, it will be added to the dictionary. To the right of that word is the word it thinks you meant to type. If you just press space, it will auto correct to that suggested word. So far so good, this all makes sense.
Now, I have an extremely annoying problem. Say I want to type the word "jellybean." I am very careful to press each letter exactly, and can see the letters that pop up above the individual keyboard letters as I am typing. All correct. However, rather than showing that I typed "jellybean" it shows "helkybean." It does this kind of thing with almost every word. Another example, I'll type "morning." The word that shows up is "nirbibg." This appears on the leftmost side of the suggested word bar, implying that this is what I actually typed, and just to the right of that (first suggested word) it shows "morning." In other words, the phone seems to think I typed "nirbibg" when I meant to type morning.
I am totally baffled as to why this happens. Even if the calibration is off, I am clearly pressing the right keys! The correct letters are shown in the little popup as I'm typing. Why, oh why in the world would this be happening?
Here are some more examples, first showing what I'm actually typing and what the phone seems to think I am typing. I am being very careful to push each letter exactly:
Hello, how are you doing?
Hekki, hiw are yoy diibg?
This keyboard is really frustrating me.
Tgis jeyboard us reakky frustratubg ne.
This makes absolutely no sense at all.
Tgus najds absikuteky no sebse at akk.
Clearly this is a practical joke of some kind.
Ckearkg this is oractucak jije if sine kind.
Riding the Saturn 5 rocket must have been quite an experience.
Ridibg tge Saturb 5 ricjet nust have beeb quute an exoeruebce.
Also, I will type a word like "of," pressing each letter correctly, watching the pop-up confirmations show the correct letters, and still it types "if."
I have bilingual prediction off, and the keyboard language is English. Swype is off, though it didn't seem to make any difference whether it was on or off. My dictionary contains the usual naughty words that everyone must add at some point, with no such gibberish. If I just type normally, the gibberish word auto corrects to the right word when I press space, but I'd like to know why it even shows up in the first place when I clearly typed the correct letters!
I am sure this is a simple fix but I am just totally baffled as to why this happens. Any ideas? For what it's worth, this only seems to happen when I type in landscape mode.
Did you try re-calibrating the keyboard? (Settings>Language and keyboard>HTC Sense Input>Advanced>Calibration tool) Even if you don't think it's the problem, it's worth a shot - it only takes a minute, and it does noticeably improve the accuracy, at least to me. I just tried a bunch of random sentences and I was able to type all of them properly on the first try.
Yep, I did. First I reset the calibration, same thing. Then I re-calibrated. Same thing.
When I am typing in portrait mode it seems to be fine. No such problems. Only in landscape mode does this happen, but the calibration appears to only work in portrait mode. If there's a way to do a landscape calibration, I haven't found it.
Make sure every thing is set to English US. Even under post spellling settings.

I am running arhd 8.0 ElementalX kernel had same issue under settings. Its due to the languages . turns out Italian Portuguese Spanish french were on and its auto correcting, just make sure English is the only one checked should resolve the issue.

Yep, everything is set to English. That was one of the first things I checked. This includes the post-spelling check.
I also notice know this seems to only happen in the Facebook app...when I use Gmail or SMS, everything is fine. Hm...
That is not such a huge problem then, but I still don't understand why the behavior would change in a different app. I assumed the keyboard interface was low-level enough that the apps would not affect how it works. Weird...

I don't have a fix, but I wanted to let you know you're not alone. When I try typing "autocorrect" in the Facebook app (no other app does this) I get "auticirrect".
But get this. It only happens when I hold the phone horizontally. Vertically, it types fine.
It does other odd things too, like the word suggestion bar will freeze, even though I can still type. While signing up for this account, it did it again and the Sense keyboard crashed and sent an error report. Hopefully a fix is coming.
This may be stating the obvious, but if this problem continues, there are lots of keyboards available you can try that won't have this problem. I'm pleasantly surprised by the stock Sense keyboard, but there are others that I like more.
Not Isolated
As far as I can tell this isn't an isolated incident, as I'm able to replicate the incident as well.
To replicate:
1. Open the facebook app on a stock HTC One
2. Hit the write status button
3. flip the phone to horizontal position.
4. type an "o".
5. type another letter. watch as the "o" changes to an "i".

Ok I had this problem to, I looked online for help and I found none, so this is what I did. I went to my settings then apps, then all apps and when down to HTC sense input. I disabled the HTC sense input, then I cleared the memory. I turned it back on after that and it worked! Try it out and let me know how it turns out
Facebook is the culprit, but may not be the only one

This worked for me, although it probably destroyed my personal dictionary as well. I'm still curious to know why it stored this specific data (that several people seem to share--I had the "auticirrect" problem as well) but seemingly only for facebook. Either it's a problem specifically with facebook, or facebook was using a different set of algos and files to autocorrect text input within the HTC keyboard's history. My suspicion is that this could happen with other apps as well if it could happen with Facebook, but I haven't run into any.
I don't know enough about the Android FS and what lengths apps are allowed to go to on unrooted devices, but I'd be interested to hear input from anyone that does.
I noticed when this happens to me , the language got changed. Just remove all languages except for English and you'll be fine.
It's mainly profanity that I have to make this damn thing learn.

Thank you! I got my One last week and this problem has been a PITA. Multiple google searches turned up nothing on it too. Don't know why I didn't think to check xda to begin with.
Same problem
I've had the exact same issue. cant for the life of me figure out the cause but interesting realization
The letters it replaces are the ones to the Left of the button, and only on the right side of the qwerty keyboard
For example, UIOP seems to replace letters with U < I < O < P. Im also getting J < K < L and B < N < M :/
Will try the fix suggested now but this is such a strange behavioral glitch...
Happening with my HTC one too. Sense my ass lol it's making no sense. I think what causes it is the stupid menu bar on the right which occupies exactly one key column worth of space. I don't use facebook so I don't know if that app has the soft menu bar on the right/bottom of the screen. The keyboard is offset visually but the autocorrect algorithm seems to assume the keyboard is laid out across the entire screen (ie even using the space occupied by the menu bar). Anyone care to check?
For what it's worth this problem should fix itself once we get the 4.2/4.3 update, when we can remap the menu bar to long pressing the home key.

Issue with auto punctuation in Chrome on Android

So I have this issue on three of my phones. Sometimes when I double tap the space bar to have it insert a period then a space it will instead remove the last letter of the word, insert a space then a period. Not sure what is causing it or how to fix it. Doesn't seem to be only the words I used in the video and for some reason it doesn't seem to do it every time. Only seems to happen when I am using Chrome and filling in a text box. I am using the Google Keyboard from Google Play on my Z2 and Z Ultra (not shown in the video) and the AOSP keyboard in Cyanogenmod on the OnePlus One.
You can see what I mean in the video: http://youtu.be/IFqFBZE-hsw
No one else have this issue? It's driving me nuts.
Sent from my OnePlus One
It seems like a autocorrect bug with the keyboard your using
Does it happen with other keyboards, and does it happen with a difference in auto correct or auto period with keyboards?
I haven't used another keyboard. The issue is with auto punctuation, haven't seen it do it with auto correction.
Sent from my OnePlus One
Yes i have noticed this too.
Seems to be only in Chrome (in webforms etc) and as far as I can tell only on a Oneplus One.
A very quick double tab results sooner in a delete of the last letter before the period than if you double tab slower. So it is definately looks like a bug.
Try emailing both google and sony
This could be a Framework bug on sonys half or it could be a google bug with chrome
Could be a bug on both sides to do with text handling
Just experienced this also on my LG GPAD 8.3 running CM11
Okay so it isn't just me. Three different devices people have experienced this one. Gotta be on Google's side since it is happening on the different devices.

Swiftkey causing lag ?

I've been using swiftkey for the last couple of phones i've had.
I just got so fed up with the insane lag on the z5 compact that i tried removing swiftkey and it seems to have helped massively.
Anyone else can verify ?
Maybe the z5 compact has a very low tolerance for system replacement apps like keyboard and launchers ?

I've always had swiftkey installed on my z5c and have found the phone to be quite slow and laggy. After seeing this post just uninstalled it, my first impression is that it seems a lot faster!
you may want to report this issue to swiftkey

I've been using SwiftKey for a long time without issue. I just started getting this lag problem in the past couple of weeks.
interesting since I had been noticing some lag issues and I attributed it to apps like Snapchat, though that app may have its own issues (especially since it accesses the camera every damn time you open the app). I've been meaning to give the latest Google keyboard a chance anyway, so I'll have to see how phone performance is not using Swiftkey.
I've tracked it down to the keyboard, I think. I've tried going back to Swiftkey and it gets laggy again after a few minutes. Swapping to the Google keyboard and the lag goes away. I've tried multiple messaging apps and seen the same results each time. The SK Neural keyboard from Swiftkey is doing the same thing.

Give a try to Swype, I don't experience such lag. I really appreciate the SwypeTweaks XPosed module to replace the Dragon voice typing with Google one. And I love the copy/paste gesture, among many other features. Swype Row Xposed module adds a permanent number row if the gesture to switch to numeric keypad is not enough.
