Volte in Europe - ZTE Axon 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi.
Have had the axon7 for a couple of weeks, here in England, and apart from weak cell performance on Three, I'm very happy. Last week had an SMS from Three saying I could now call over wi-fi. They call it Three in Touch, and it works very well. The EU phones are obviously pre-configured for VoLte,as I had to do nothing. Hope this helps those who have worried that Europe was being left behind

I think you are mistaking WiFi calling with actual VoLTE which works using 4G/LTE. I have dug deeper into VoLTE for the A2017G. It's not available on the A2017G. Its not supported by the baseband/firmware. Nor is it listed in ZTE's Official device specifications. (As it is in the US Version)
One other thing is VoLTE has to be implemented with an on/off toggle in the settings menu. Due to the fact that it counts as Data and not Voice. So the customer is left to decide if he wants it enabled or not.
In short VoLTE is not supported in the A2017G.
Only in the A2017U (US Model).

Nexus 6P on Three UK

Looks like, so far, Three are the only network not to have announced they are stocking the Nexus 6P.
I for one am hoping they are just delaying their announcement!
If anyone has any information regarding this matter, please post here.
Don't think three stocked the Nexus 6 at release did they?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Three did not stock the N6 so very doubtful they will do the 6P
I think a few places never stocked the 6. This time however, everyone except Three are stocking the 6P.
They can't be the only people not to negotiate a contract to sell the 6P, surely!
Seems that way. No plans as yet to sell it, and as such I'd imagine it won't work with VoLTE on Three either.
Annoying as I've ordered one and am on Three.

Not good, any more news on this??
No. I guess we can safely say VoLTE won't be possible on the 6P with Three. That is unless we get the ability to manually enter the relevant IMS settings (like APNs for data), in which case it should be possible.
I have heard rumours that the inTouch app may be updated to allow you to make calls over the app, just like you can use it for calling over Wi-Fi without 'proper' Voice over Wi-Fi support.
In this way, Three will then (apparently) give you access to the 800MHz LTE network (which is available in areas where there's no 3G to fall back to for voice) once you're registered and signed in.
That too could solve the problem, but it's a bit of a bodge and by no means going to happen for definite.

When I first ordered the 6P i went into a three store and asked about the VoLTE and they said they should support it.
Remember they dont brand/lock the phones they sell anymore. Can't remember if they put extra software on though.

They don't lock but they do brand. It isn't like the old days, with custom ring tones, colours, loads of extra apps (free trials of aps, or whatever) installed but it's still a custom ROM with settings unique to them, from APNs to the IMS settings needed for VoLTE (and Wi-Fi calling).
If you want to use VoLTE on Three today, or SuperVoice as they call it, you need to flash the Three ROM on your Galaxy S5, LG G4 or the other few devices given access - and requiring a software update.
Apple is the exception. These are never branded and the carrier settings are the same on EVERY single phone. I do wish Google would do something similar with regards to carrier settings, as then every phone on any network could be made to work properly with all the available features.
Given this is Xda, it's worth noting that there are sometimes other ways to get a generic phone to work with VoLTE but it's not something Joe Public would be able to do, or even know they could do. And Three stores have been saying some phones are able to work that can't (and never will, unless they do this inTouch update) as well as saying 4G 800 is a high priority, when the reality is that it's the lowest and you'll only ever use it when 3G isn't available.
There's a dedicated UK thread here,

Wifi calling in the UK

Just a query - does the HM20P have Wifi calling options in the UK? More specfically on Three?
Yes it does. Purchased mine from 3 UK and its the dual sim model. Never really used WiFi calling much as far as I'm aware but just tested it by putting the phone in airplane mode then turning the WiFi back on and it came up with the words 3 WiFi calling where the signal strength indicator usually is. Tried making a call and it works fine.
Not on O2 as of yet
Works on UK EE. The WiFi calling on the 20pro is different from on the 10pro. WiFi calling will only switch on if the gsm signal falls below a certain level. In my case I don't get WiFi calling upstairs but do downstairs

As I recall, that was how it worked on my Mate 10 (not Pro), which is kinda annoying if you live in a house that has borderline signal (like mine), I'd rather it just work as a preference. Oneplus 6 does it that way and gives you the option to choose.
Wi-fi calling works fine. Phone is single sim, unlocked model...bought outright from CPW, and wi-fi calling scrolls its way across the status bar when on wi-fi.
I'm on the three network...
I moved from three to Vodafone. When awaiting the phone number to be transferred it had WiFi calling. Once the transfer was completed I lost WiFi calling. I can't even remember where the settings are
Huawei Mate20 Pro LYA-L09
WiFi calling is carrier dependant, so you'll only see the option and it will only activate if your carrier supports it.
3 & EE support WiFi calling
O2 doesn't (on pretty much any handset except Samsung ones)
Voda I'm not sure about
On the same subject, VoLTE (4G calling) is also carrier dependant - I know both 3 and EE support it, but I haven't seen the option come up on my phone. O2 (as usual) don't support anything and Voda are unknown

Vodafone support it, been using it a while on lots of my phones also volte works. And best of all you don't need to have purchased it from Vodafone.

voLTE on 3 uk

Does anyone have the m20p from 3 uk, and using their firmware?
3 are telling me that their m20p doesn't support "4G Super Voice" but as I pointed out, it was on their site when I bought it, and the icon is still there on their shop website.
My issue is that my phone from 3 was replaced when the screen went green before Xmas. It was replaced by an unbranded m20p, and there is no option for voLTE.
WiFi calling works, except I'm not able to send SMS

I'm pretty sure it is (or at least is meant to be) supported.
It's even confirmed on http://www.three.co.uk/Discover/network/4G-Supervoice
To my knowledge, VoLTE is enabled by default on the M20Pro, there is no on/off setting.
Just tested mine with a 333 call and the 4G icon stayed on
I've just tested mine, when I place a call it drops to 3G. Never noticed that before.
After updating to 9.1 I spoke to three who said the new vendor OTA with the July security patch is still being worked on. I'm still on their June patch for now
Mine dropped to H+

VOLTE fix

After noticing no one on the internet has a fix for this and after countless failed attempts the answer is simple it is the country code and area code causing the issue. I was also able to fix my wife's mi note 9 pro the same way make sure you have roaming for area codes and remove any country codes from your contacts.
To test, dial a number local to you that is not in your contacts. Make sure VOLTE is turned on and only dial the 7 main digits of the number (no country code exe. +1 and no area code exe. (202) only exe.555-5555) the call should now work.
I believe as long as call roaming is on you should be able to use area codes and for out of state you will probably have to turn off VOLTE for now until Xiaomi realizes American dialing is different from Europon and they mass fix this in all those phones. Soon all the carriers will be VOLTE only and if they do not fix this they will be losing a lot of customers
Hope this helped you guys
I Wrote Xiaomi letting them know about this bug. Here is the reply:

Never mind. It had nothing to do with data roaming. But you were right all you have to do is call a 7 digit number and VoLte will work. Also wifi calling is not working. I jumped the gun.

Roaming fixed my wife's and mine phones to use the area codes and check your settings for wifi calling mine works perfectly...
My phone has been HD with WiFi calling ever since I discovered this no issues at all.
T-mobile says No VOLTE, no service soon to come if your phone does not have VOLTE it won't work there other phone carriers follow as well like At&t
If your T-Mobile phone doesn't have VoLTE, you could get kicked off the network soon
Metro by T-Mobile will also be affected, along with MVNOs like Google Fi, Mint, and Ting (Update: T-Mobile statement)

I live in USA, i removed the 1+ from each contact, and works perfectly. I tried calling myself from one of my contacts phone, and i got the call through, but i can't call my voice mail. I tried turning on roaming always, but didn't work. But i'm still worried some calls might never come through. I'm on xiaomi.eu 12.0.7
So I finally got voLTE working here in the states. We just need to figure out how to remove country code when it comes to voice calling. The phone works wonderfully with Straight talk. I wonder if purchasing an international plan would fix the incoming call issue.

Question Sony Xperia 1 iii xq-bc62 5G not working. Flash xq-bc52?

Hi, i bought a unlocked xq-bc62 in US. I travel a lot and discovered 5G won't work in several carriers networks, no matter what I do in the phone ( I spend more time outside US). I called the carriers support and they confirmed their network doesn't have any lock preventing the use of overseas 5G bought phones. So far, I tried to use it in Portugal, UK, Ireland and Brazil but 5G is not recognized by the phone. I changed the sim for a 5G local one, changed ASN, manually chose network (5G ones are not displayed) and no success. I even tried to pray, but again, no success. I contacted Sony Support and they said phone will only work in 5G in 2 of the 3 main carriers in US and not outside US, despite the phone tech specs says it will work in all the frequencys used by above carriers. There are some threads here that confirm xq-bc62 Is not a full 5g phone. All said and done, my Question: is it possible to flash another region Image like xq-bc52 or xq-bc72 in this hardware? Will it work fine and, mainly, will 5G networks be accessible outside US? Tks
Some times its hardware but you can try mtk engineer mode settings there may be something of use there
If you can get the original vendor file usually have (user low ship...) its usually international
Unless the phone is using 4.5G and not real 5G

Yep, the US models have numerous disabled features and run late on updates. I've also noticed it's crippled or disabled while roaming. I'm not sure if it's directly from disabled features or it it has been blocked by telcos because it malfunctions. (It gets kicked off cell towers in the US)
The US model has slightly different radio hardware so I would expect problems flashing the OS from another region. There are some tricks for changing the feature lists that might be a safer bet.

How would one check what is and isn't turned on network wise??
I was able to flash the XQ-BC52 ROM in my XQ-BC62 hardware. So far, working fine in 4G+, but I´m in area with no 5G coverage. Tomorrow I will go to an 5G area and check f it worked. If not, I will try the XQ-BC72. I will keep you posted.

Maybe something along the lines of Getting VoLTE and VoWiFi on unlisted carriers by flashing mbn file or 5II/1&5III VoLTE patch. [Guide to release the root] or https://band.radio/
I haven't rooted yet so I haven't tried them. I bring a T-Mobile LG Velvet 5G with me when I travel. It's a little slower but doesn't have all the telco problems.
Test done, xqbc-52 doesn't see 5G network as well. XQ-BC72 SEA is a no go, don't even recognize the SIM card in the phone.
Will try another firmwares and the tweaks kevinmcmurtrie mentioned above, but my feeling is: I paid the 5G price for the Phone and actually got a a 4G Phone. Very frustrated with Sony. Thinking seriously about going back to Samsung.

But hey here's the pros, best physical camera sensors, Micro SD card Slot and headphone jack...
UPDATE!!! 5G is working!!!!! After Several Attempts, I finally got 5G. What worked for me, in Claro BR Network, was flash a Hybrid ROM. I Flashed A XQ-BC52 ROM with Modem files from XQ-BC72. So far everything working as it should. My only concern, next month I will be in Germany, may I have trouble in LTE over there with XQ-BC72 modems?

Tks for the spirits up Ainz_Ooal_Gown. The main reason I Bougth Sony 1 iii is the 3,5 mm jack. I hate USB adapters......
Ok, major setback. it worked for 3 hours and when I turned on my second Sim card the phone 5G was gone. Turned it off, reset radio configs, but no success. Apparently turning the second sim on override the BC72 configs. Time to get serious now and root the phone, what I'm very reluctant to do.

Settings, Network & internet, Smart connectivity and turn off. On by default. See if it works. I found where I am at it tends to look for wifi over 5G.
