Soft Bricked, Can't Mount sdcard or external sdcard, Status 7 error in recovery - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have Redmi Note 4g with miui 8.0.1 kitkat 4.4.4. I have done foolish thing and have restored data from sd card which origanally belonged to redmi 2 prime working on miui 7.5.3 on Android 5.1.1. Phone worked fine for sometime but after rebooting it got stuck on a screen with error "unfortunately process com.android...." (it doesn't even show the complete message. Though i have restored Redmi Note 4g's backup on Redmi 2 Prime but that's working quite fine. The only problem is with Redmi Note 4g.
Step wise options exhausted:
1. I have Philz touch recovery. So first i wiped cache from recovery. Problem not solved.
2. Factory reset. Problem not solved.
3. Placed MIUI 8.0.1 global ROM in sdcard and tried flashing using recovery. E: can't mount external sdcard.
4. attempted to access internal memory from recovery to install zip. E: cant mount sdcard. That means i can't flash from from external sdcard or pushing zip in internal memory.
5. installed adb & fastboot driver. used miflash to flash ROM but error: remote can't erase partition.
6. Used ADB sideload in recovery using platform tool. Flashed MIUI 8.0.1; 7.0.6; 7.2.3 ROMs but all ended in status 7 error stating failed to extract dir from "system" to "/system". error in /temp/update.zip status 7.
i also flashed MIUI 6.2.29 developer ROM which failed on " ApplyParsedPerms:removexttr of //data//miui/cust_variant to 0 failed: operation not supported on transport endpoint set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed E: error in /temp/update.zip (status 7) installation aborted.
All online solution for status 7 errors points to errors arising due to identifying wrong device in updater script od ROM. But as i checked it, my error arise at commands after it has recognised right device by getprop.
Now i am completely exhausted and frustrated. I am not an expert in flashing, just learnt little while going through above steps. Anyone, please guide me out of this problem. Thanks.

Any expert out there to solve this issue or have i posted the thread in the wrong section ???
Is the problem is on kernels level...as i don't know about kernels much...but if so then i have to study it too...

[Q] Any EFFECTIVE solution? Can't mount /sdcard +Signature Verification Failed

##For Admins##
Sorry, I Don't know where to post this ,i posted it here according to my mobile model(S2) but now my problem is with (s7562).. & Sorry for my English.
##Summary##
I'm searching for an effective solution to
1- ""Can't mount /sdcard" for both internal & external one"
2-Signature Verification Failed
3-Is it possible to connect Samsung devices via fastboot ? or only ADB ?
Note:Any solution asks for reinstall the rom or doing factory reset is NOT accepted for me
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Hi All, ^_^
i spent my day trying to solve a problem ,more than 12 hours straight
& FINALLY ^__^,
i didn't solve it & I'm going to dream with it...
i have a problem with my s7562 ,actually they are problems
#My main problem is that i want to root my phone &&& finally i rooted it using Kingo app & it was easy & effective.
"Kingo" roots my phone & installs "Super User" but it does not install a new CWM for the recovery...
The problem is that i managed to change my current (Android System Recovery <3e>) with a new CWM because (Android System Recovery <3e>) :
1-always says: "Signature Verification Failed"
2-there is no ability to access the internal sd
I tried many CWM a flash-able zips form both "odin" & CWM but it always fails due to this problems:
1-when i try to enter CWM the phone hangs at Samsung logo
2-OR i can enter cwm but i cant access my sdcard, internal sd >>"Can't mount /sdcard" for both internal & external one
For the first problem (Signature Verification Failed) i tried this article
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465431
& signed the zip >same problem
& i search for " Toggle Signature Verification " option in my CWM & i didn't find it
For the second problem ,i read that the cwm is the cause of this problem "Can't mount /sdcard" & i have to install a new one,
i tried may CWMs & nothing works & i found many CWMs as (.img) files then i used this article to make then a flash-able (.tar) files
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2281287
flashed successfully & nothing works
note, when i return to the stock cwm i can only access the external sd,but zips installation fails due to "Signature Verification Failed"
ALSO i tried to install the cwm via ADB but i faced problems in that, this is the xda article

ERROR: "set_perm: some changes failed" when flashing ROM traces back to /system mount

ERROR: "set_perm: some changes failed" when flashing ROM traces back to /system mount
Hi all, I'm hoping that somebody much smarter than myself might happen to read this and know a possible cause for the following observations. I don't think the particular device hardware or version of Android should matter, as this is more of a general question. I installed a ClockworkMOD recovery and booted into it. Then when I attempt to flash a ROM (from external SD) that is known to be intact and working..
observations:
* I see the error message:
set_perm: some changes failed
E:Error in /storage/external_SD/ROMs/AdvancedStock8.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
* the real culprit has to do with partitions not mounting properly.
the workaround was to manually unmount and then remount: "/system", "/data", "/cache", and "/storage/external_SD".
afterward, both flashing a .zip and restoring from an earlier backup will work;
though it may require a few repeated tries (and a fair bit of cursing).
I have several identical phones and this behavior only occurred on one of them. I was eventually able to install the desired ROM on the suspect device, but I don't know what would cause this mounting issue. Should I be worried that there may be a problem with this device and go through the hassle of returning it? ..which would (of course) mean going through the hassle of trying to flash it back to a stock ROM.

Hi everyone,
I've just bought a Gionee m6 GN8003 helio p10 (...) and the firmware is chinese with a lots of bloatwares and chineses apps. i have tried to install gapps via CWM recovery by puting the gapps.zip in the internal storage with no sd card inserted .but i got this error:

-Even though the data is mounted (i checked and rebooted so many time from recovery to recovery but no luck, always the error above).
so i tried google installer.apk and i installed google services and play store but got an error:
Code:
unfortunately, google services has stopped.
- tried different google installer apk but no luck.
-tried to make a flashable zip using the system.img and boot.img with assyyeed but got an error : system.img can't created, the operation can't continue.
-i didn't find ant TWRP recovery so i used CWM as mentioned above.
-also tried to flash my gionee m6 Gn8003 with more than 7 version of sp_flash_tools including the one inside the frimeware package, even though all the drivers are correctely installed and pressing the volume down while connecting the device, but always getting the below error:
Code:
status_sec_auth_file_needed
-i have been looking in the internet for an international firmware with google services and multi language(at least EN/FR) but with no luck.
i need your help because i'm unable to use the phone without play store and google services.
-yesterday i got an ota update did that the phone rebooted into CWM recovery and stopped there with error ( E: can't mount /storage/sdcard ) and never rebooted to system , when i press reboot system or power off/on the phone always reboot to CWM recovery. stuck forever there.

Working fastboot and newest recovery, cant install rom (Error 7) (logs)

Hello, i am in need of your help
first off, yes, i have tried and am using the newest twrp and now also orangefox.
Im also using the mido rom for my mido phone, thats why its so puzzling to me.
I came from a Lineage 15.1 build of mid September and wanted to do a clean installation of the newest 15.1 nightly.
So i formatted clean via twrp and transferred the newest zip of 15.1. It failed and gave me an E1001 and Error 7
I also tried some older builds of this month to no avail , giving me the same errors.
Online answers told me to update my twrp, so i did that, but none of them worked so far.
At this point i have a working fastboot and recovery but i cant manage to install a rom anymore, which is very odd to me.
When trying to install any rom, i usually get this log:
Installing zip file `/sdcard/lineage-15.1-20190102-nightly-mido-signed.zip`

Please help :crying:

I already did this and it didnt work.
The problem was a either a wonky window adb driver or the usb cable used. It worked on a different computer and cable.
Is your issue solved? ?

Error '/sdcard/lineage....zip' - Installing lineage 18 / 19

i tried to install lineage 19 and 18 but both trials end with error.

5. Reboot to bootloader
6. Boot in to twrp
7. Select wipe
8. Select advance wipe
9. Select all except sdcard
10. Swipe to wipe
11. Copy rom.zip
so far so good
12. Flash ROM.zip ---> Errors applying update: 28 (Errror Code:: errors installing ZIP '/sdcard/lineage-18.1-20220203.zip
trying to install with ZIP signature verification: verifiction failed! Error installing.....zip.
happens with lineage 18 and 19.
i like to finish the other steps and need help.
I also tried to sideload the Rom without luck.
last steps to finish
13. Change slot , reboot to twrp again , flash opengapps.zip
14. Select wipe
15. Select advance wipe
16. Select all except system vendor SD card and swipe to wipe
17. Reboot system
today i tried this to get this phone running on lineage
adb reboot recovery
black lineage recovery screen shows
Version 19.0 (20211212)
active slot: b
(seems as an installation left did somethin right??)
I thought to try an update from ADB with the same versions cause my several installations before ended with the error shown above or did not boot into lineage after installation.
results:
1. E: emulated failed to bind mount /mt/staging/emulated/media/0 on /storage/emulated: No such file or directory
-> so i mounted /mnt/system (i am not sure what i am doing here...)
2 . updating again via adb sideload:
supported api: 3
finding update package...
verifying update package...
update package verification took 54 s (result 0)
Installing update....
E: package is for product CTL_sprout but expected Crystal
same result with
lineage-19.0-20211212-UNOFFICIAL-Crystal.zip
lineage-18.1-20210816-UNOFFICIAL-Crystal.zip
Anyone with a hint for me ?
thx

You need to use the Nokia Repartition Tool. Set to 3.5GB.

I know this thread is a bit old but how to use the tool? I do not fully understand it. I have a Nokia .7.1, always get the error 28 and can not do anything. And the Nokia Repair Tool hangs?! What exactly do I have to do to make it work?!
