All About Pixel Screen Protectors - Google Pixel Accessories

EDIT: Now that 5 months have gone by and some top contenders have truly emerged, I've updated the OP with the list of the protectors that seem to be the favorites in this thread and in others.
The purpose of this thread is to discuss screen protector options for the Pixel phone. This is where you can post thoughts and pictures of screen protectors you've purchased/used and to provide reviews and suggestions for others looking for tempered glass, plastic and wet apply screen protectors.

Pros:
- Full adhesive across the entire protector
- Full coverage
- Comes in black or white
Cons:
- Adhesive in center of screen is going to show dust particles more prominently.
- Edges may not adhere properly in some areas. (Blow dryer and pressure applied in the area for 1-2 minutes usually solves this)
Orzly 2.5D Pro-Fit Tempered Glass Screen Protector
https://www.amazon.com/Google-Prote...898800&sr=1-3&keywords=intelliglass+pro+pixel
Pros:
- Full coverage
- Comes in black or white
- Easy to apply perfectly
Cons:
- No adhesive in center of the screen which creates space between screen and protector
- Can give an almost mirror like reflection from certain angles in highly lit areas
- "Dot matrix" over the screen, making reading text difficult in direct sunlight
- Can make blacks on the screen look very washed out and gray
Spigen GLAS.t R Slim Tempered Glass Protector
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N8S5R93?th=1
Pros:
- Full coverage
- Comes in black or white
- Easy to apply perfectly
- No dot matrix in center of screen like Orzly
Cons:
- Can make blacks on the screen look slightly washed out (but not nearly as bad as the Orzly)
...
There are other options but these 3 seem to be the most favored among Pixel users.

I ordered the tempered glass from Verizon's website. With my discount it was like $16 and they usually work pretty well.

I got the Spigen Google Pixel Screen Protector Tempered Glass, I really like it.
Got this one: Spigen Google Pixel Screen Protector Tempered Glass / Full Coverage / 9H Hardness / Case Friendly for Google Pixel - Black

Pleson and Orzly typically make some very solid TG protectors. However, I must admit that I'm pessimistic about the fit due to the curved edge of the screen. But at just $8 I'm willing to give it a try. Fingers crossed.

I have always been a fan of Invisible shields by Zagg. they haven't officially announced for Pixel yet though.

I will never understand the desire to put this horrible ugly **** on your expensive phone, even worse than a case.

A perfectly installed tempered glass protector looks and feels like it isn't even there. However, with the curved edge of the Pixel screen, I am doubtful that I will be able to accomplish a perfect install. Admittedly, after going through a few protectors with my OnePlus 3, I ended up saying "screw it" and went bare with the screen and felt liberated.
The screen looks/feels so great without a protector that it's worth getting some micro-scratches. The main reason I try to use a screen protector is for resale value purposes. But this time around I really am hopping to keep the Pixel for the full 24 months instead of making an incremental upgrade after 12 months. By then the phone will be worth like $150 anyway. So this time around, if I can manage a perfect install with the Pleson TG protector, I'll keep it on. If it doesn't work I'm going to throw it in the trash and just enjoy the screen bare.
I purchased Google Protect anyway so if something happens to the screen I pay them $79 and get a brand new phone the next day. With protection like that it's actually gotten silly to drop upwards of $50 trying all sorts of screen protectors.

I've used that screen protector on my OnePlus 3 and can't stand it. It has a rubbery feel to it and makes the screen look grainy. For me it's tempered glass or nothing.

I got the Pleson coming right now. I usually use the Skinomi glass protectors but they told me they were not ready as of yet. Pleson makes amazing cases wo i will try their screen protectors out. if they crack i will get skinomi later

I have a Pleson on my 6P and it's great.
I'm curious though, the first batch of 6P protectors covered the proximity sensor and people had issues. I'm assuming that thing under the top speaker (on the Pixel) is the proximity sensor and it appears to be covered. Maybe I'll wait for some reviews.

It's def a good deal. Not hating on anyone who's taking a chance on the first batch and I hope there's no issues. I'm just gonna wait to find out.

I just hope the curved edge doesn't force the TG manufacturers to do what they did with the OnePlus 3, which was leave the adhesive on the sides and keep the middle of the protector just hovering over the screen because it created that obnoxious rainbowing in the middle of the screen and allowed dust to get in betweent he protector and the screen. .

bought the pleson TG 2 pack. I hope armor shield jumps into the game, love their stiff.

I have used Google Protect on my 5X and I assure you that your replacement will NOT be new(could be, but won't be). Change "brand new" to "refurbished" and you got it right. I tried three replacements for my 5X, all were refurbished. All had loose back covers and one had a pink screen. I ended up replacing the back cover myself with an aftermarket replacement to address the looseness.

Yeah, I remember you and I discussing the Orzly protector for the OnePlus 3. My rev 2 was pretty solid and offered great protection with a clean look. But over a few weeks it started to let dust get in, which got annoying. The plus side to that protector is you can peal it off, clean the screen and re-apply.
However, a couple of weeks ago I decided to go with no protector on the OnePlus 3 and it just feels/looks too great to go back. Since ordering the Pixel I've been much less gentle with the OnePlus 3, as well. The screen has now been exposed to plenty of dirt/grime from using it while working on the car and even sand from our camping trip this last weekend. Yet, every time I clean it and inspect the screen under florescent lighting I can't find a single visible scratch.
And supposedly the OnePlus 3 screen is less scratch resistant than other current flagships. If that truly is the case, then I'm seriously thinking the screen protector days might be behind me. Unless I can manage a perfect install with the Pleson one I ordered, that is.

Ah yeah I remember your profile picture somewhat. I don't get that much dust buildup but mainly due to my case probably hiding it well!
Ideally we would all like no case or screen protector on our phones but life isn't like that ????
My OPO got quite scratched up unfortunately before I had a screen protector so I always need one now!

Curved glass and screen protectors...

So tomorrow i'm getting my Lumia, and i was wondering if it was possible to apply a genric screen protector on it while i wait for the specific one i ordered. Do they actually stick on this particular curved glass screen? What should i use for the moment? I don't wanna end with this bad boy scratched in just a couple days...
Even since my Blackberry days, I have always used screen protectors. This phone represents a big departure for me from that..
I have a belt carrying case or I'll carry the phone in a sort or jacket pocket after making sure nothing else is there.
Carrying in pants pocket is out of the question..
To me the glass and the coating are part of the design of the phone and in this case the shape and texture of the naked screen is what really makes this phone stand head and shoulders above iPhone, Samsung Galaxy or any other higher end peers.
In my opinion, adding any protector in addition to
the silicone case Nokia provides would really take that advantage away and dumb the phone down..
Yeah i feel that too, but you know i'm an offroad rider and the place i live also has some quite sandy ground...i've always managed to scratch every surface i was carrying with me, even the sapphire cristal of my good old Sector watch, so i'll be always too scared to carry a phone naked, especially if it's so damn beautiful...i'm a dangerous man i guess
I bought a Nillkin screen protector and even though it works really well, the cutting is only till the border of the actual screen. It does not go till the edge where the polycarbonate body begins.
So conclusion is that it sucks. I will be interested in any other screen protector anybody has tried which can reach till all the four edges of the screen.

Use those flexible protectors like Invisishield/BestSkinsEver etc. You can stretch it while applying.
Is a screen protector needed? This phone is fitted with gorrilla glass...
i have to admit my screen gets immensely greasy - i don't think it has any kind of anti smudge coating on it. at least mine didn't - i haven't seen anybody else's one.
Every screen irrespective of it being a Gorilla or Chimpanzee needs a protector. If you have sensitive eyes you can make out minute microscopic scratches that form in an arranged fashion after 2months of use. I hate it.
I am still looking to see if there is any protector out there that can fit edge to edge. Shucks with all the technology out there people cant make a thin plastic sheet that fits a curved screen ??
Skinomi's protections cover the whole screen. I purchased one, and quite happy about it. Fits perfectly egde to edge. It's not a rigid plastic protection like the cheap chinese ones, it is flexible and bends naturally on the curve.
You can find it on Skinomi's website, thought I think it is cheaper on amazon (like $6 or $7).
Don't worry about the picture you may find (which is one of an N9 screen protection) there is only one hole for the sensor on the actual protection.
Happy to answser any questions...

Hey thanks for that tip. Is it possible even with the any camera you have to take a small pic of your phone with that protector and post it here. That will be the decisive pic for this topic.
Best shot I could get. It is almost invisible anyway.

About the installation, the protection comes with a spray. It feels a little weird to spray your phone with this solution but I found the application actually easier than with the usual "dry" protections.
Note that it will probably be scary ugly after the installation (microbubbles, haze...) but it gets better after a few hours (12 to 20 in my case) and perfect after a few days.
Honestly i wouldn't go generic, you get what you payed for. Trust me i've learned the hard way haha

Fantastic. It is truly invisible and sits neatly edge to edge. I could only make it out from the hole given for the sensor. Good job and thanks a lot. I am ordering one now from eBay.

Not a full screen protector either and I paid more...-_-
I don't like screen protectors. Never use them.
Besides this phone has gorilla glass. I have not even managed to scratch my other previous phones without gorilla glass after months of use. I rather take the risk of getting a little scratch rather than take away the nice touch feel of the screen.

Then you must not have exposed it to sand. I have managed to scratch almost all the screens I have had on cell phones without a screen protector even if they were made out of gorilla glass. Sand is the enemy to every screen. Metal, like keys or knives, are softer that the glass but sand (or some particles of sand) are not.
I just bought some cheap chinese screen protector (dry application) and it looked horrible. Had it on for 5 minutes and then ripped it off. Have to find a good soft wet application protector now, hopefully before I manage to scratch that thing of beauty.
I've heard good reviews of the Skinomi ones, so I may go for one of those. Does anybody know if the full body (transparent) version has something to cover the super-scratch-prone chrome around the camera? If you know about any screen protector with that feature please let me know, otherwise I'll order the screen only version and use some (custom?) workaround for the chrome thing...

I did order a couple for my Omnia a few weeks ago, but unluckily they came faulty, with pretty irregular cut borders and a nasty white drop of some kind of glue in the middle. They were totally unusable. I wanted to send them back for a replacement, but a couple days later I've lost my Omnia at a concert...oh well

I am using one, a cheaper than the Spigen one. But it works great! Suprisingly good actually. Since I hate screen protectors cause I always get one dust particle underneath it.. It makes me take it off again. But with the tempered glass It fell exactly on place and without any dust underneath it..

You can pick one up in the Verizon stores, I'm not sure of the hardness rating, I like the feel, it's rounded, does the job and looks good. It's about 25 bucks, can get them cheaper online but if you need one ASAP, pick one up in the verizon store, they'll install it as well so if they mess up have them do it again free of charge.
But out of all the reviews, the best one seems to be by iloome.

That one looks nice, I really like the MIME Feather Glass since it is only .15mm thick.
I'm using the Spiegen - the top of the line one.
It works great so far and fits the Spiegn Sim armour vieww case with no problem.
While I like a good deal too, I don't understand that we buy a VERY expensive Note 3 and then try and cut corners with the Glass and case.
I wish I could use one. On day one, I started with the Verizon tempered glass screen protector and I loved the feel of it, but over a few days time, the top right corner developed an odd sort of hazy "bubble" that wouldn't stay flattened out. I confirmed the screen protector wasn't touching the frame, so I figured it was just the "crappy" store brand screen protector. I decided to go ahead and get a MIME Ghost Glass to replace it, and over the next few days, the same story. Top right corner, bubble.
Upon closer inspection, my Note 3 has an (almost) imperceptible "bend" in the very top right corner of the screen. The only way I could tell was the way the light warps a tiny bit in the reflection of the glass in just that corner. The rigid nature of tempered glass coupled with this slight bend in the phone's glass causes the corner of the protector to lift ever so slightly off the screen, creating the ugly bubble.
The phone was bought new, has never been dropped, and is in perfect condition, it's simply a manufacturing "defect". So, it's back to the regular old screen protectors for me.

Hi y`all.
Prefer brando rounded edge.

Best screen protector?

I'm looking for the best screen protector. Most important is functionality, so the least amount of stylus/touch sensitivity reduction.
I've tried the armorsuit military shield that uses liquid applicator and it causes too much friction and sensitivity reduction.
I'm now looking at the various generic film protectors and the 1 glass protectors linked below
intelliGLASS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TD9G9R2/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_WSgevb1JDHSXF
Glass protectors offer the best damage protection. I'm curious as to the performance with this shield.
Has anyone tried it?
I have, and the screen protector does not seem to affect stylus or touch functionality in any way

Glass is always incredible, and this one is no exception. Quality and packaging is great. I like the slight curves on the edges of the protector, makes it feel nice to the touch. I showed off my tablet to family to check it out, and until I told them it had a screen protector on, they couldn't tell what I'd added to it LOL.
I ordered the intelliARMOR intelliGLASS HD for mine. It's arrived however still waiting on my tablet to return from Nvidia (FedEx says Tuesday!) so it can try it on lol
Hoping it doesn't interfere with the case.

I've been using it since I bought my Shield and its great! I can upload some pictures of it on my Shield if you want to see how it looks. There is a small cutout for the sensor on the middle upper right but other than that its an edge to edge fit (as much as it can)

Do you use the official case with it mate? Does it fit well? I've had their glass products before on my HTC ONE M8 and been pleased with the quality.

If you are referring to the magnetic folio cover then yes that's all I use with a vinyl wrap on the back to prevent scratches. There are no issues at all other than the screen protector getting dirty from the folio but the smudges wipe right off.

Yeah that's the one. Excellent, thanks mate. Can't wait to get my tablet back now. Missing playing VainGlory on it! Playing on the smaller phone screen just doesn't compare lol

My last RMA was in that recall but I had to RMA it for a different reason. Thankfully my new one (I recieved it about a month ago) is working great and doesn't have the defective battery. I usually play games on my Shield TV now but I still enjoy gaming on the tablet.

Coincidentally I RMA'd my Shield Tablet last Monday for a broken LCD beneath the glass. Crack occurred for no particular reason, I had never dropped it. All I recall is the night before it got quite hot. Don't think it's related to the battery issue but I'm convinced the heat of it had something to do with the crack. They accepted and my replacement was sent out yesterday due delivery Tuesday. I'm assuming it'll be a model with the unaffected battery else I'll have to RMA again...!

That's good to hear, mine was an advanced RMA so I had it in 2 days and sent the original back without any issues. My original one was almost non functional after downgrading from the original 3.0 back to 2.2.1 and no matter how many times I flashed the stock image or a different ROM it stuttered and froze. They suspected there might have been hardware damage from the OTA 3.0 somewhere in the CPU/GPU which doesn't make sense and they never gave me an answer on what was wrong. I'm still glad this one is working better, in fact I'm typing this reply on it.
Applied the IntelliGlass by IntelliArmor to my Shield today. Here's my impressions and mini-review.
The protector comes well packaged in a book style packaging. You get everything you'll need inside to make applying the protector a breeze. Includes:
- protector
- dust removal sheet
- alcohol wipe
- lint free cloth
- smudger
Simply cleaned the screen with the wipe, applied the dust removal sheet several times and then began peeling off the backing and lining up the glass protector. My first hit was slightly off, enough to irritate me anyway! So had to gently prise it off and re-seat it. Second hit was perfect. The bubbles smoothed out easily with my thumb pressure.
I've had IntelliArmor products before and as with all glass protection I've owned in the past, they are the ultimate screen protection and offer so much more then plastic ones. The best advantage for me though is that your finger feels like its on the actual screen as plastic protectors can give differing feeling under the finger.
I've been unlucky enough to drop my phone before onto a hard surface and if it were not protected by a glass screen protector, I'm confident the screen would have shattered. Instead the screen was fine below the shattered and chipped glass protector. So I've had first hand experience that glass protectors do the job. I've no reason to believe any different of this product, without me chucking my Shield on the floor - which I won't do for a review!
The glass is not too thick and plays nicely with the Official Nvidia case which is an added bonus as not all glass protectors play well with flip style cases. Fortunately this one does.
My only gripe at the moment is when swipe typing. It currently seems a bit hindered by the glass protector. However, I need more time with it as I'm not 100% convinced it has all to do with the protector.
If you're in the market for a Shield screen protector, then I highly recommend the IntelliGlass. Worth the extra £'s in my humble opinion.

Ah! Ok no problem.
No I've not experienced any dust gathering underneath the edges. It's a pretty good seal once it's on.

Best S8 screen protector

I wanted to create a thread to collect everyone's findings and opinions on what the best screen protector for the S8 is.
From what I have found there are:
- TPU dry application
- TPU wet application
- tempered glass glue only at sides
Post what you think the best protector is for feel, sensitivity and coverage. Also how compatable with cases and ease of application.
So far I've tried the amFilm from techmatte. Glue is viable around the sides and the touch sensitivity is reduced after insalll.
Master List - Tempered Glass
amFilm By Techmatte
Tempered glass, glue round the outside and top of the protector only. dot matrix on the screen for better sensitivity.
Glass feels nice but leaves loads of fingerprints and it is really reflective to light. Reduced sensitivity especially at the top. Works well with cases as its not quite full coverage.
Master List - TPU Films
yootech
Wet apply. Went on easy, works well with case no lifting. Feels nice.
Techgear ghostshield
Dry install. Kinda hard install as top part has separate protective film to the rest so it's hard to remove tbe main bit without getting dust under the protector. Sticks to the sides well. Clarity is bad, makes the phone look greasy /oily. Touch sensitivity is unaffected.
I bought these and it went on really easy, no bubbles and doesn't lift around the edge like a previous protector I used did when I put my Spigen Thin case on, feels ok to use too
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B071R5P7QN/ref=pe_385721_37986871_TE_item
EDIT - This is the previous protector I used, I found it reasonable to apply but lifted around the edges when putting my case on

Forget yootech, it works well the first 1-2 days but then you have to repress on the borders every day because the TPU cover lift it, and now after 10 days some parts are not gluing anymore specially the bottom corners.
Feeling is plasticky and a bit sticky, not as good as ''dry'' films

Actually really like the feel. Doesn't feel too rubbery. It's not glass but it's quite smooth as long as you don't dig your nails in. I forget it's there a lot. Took me a while to apply and get it right but not had any edge lifting. I am using a case so that may help.

I can whole heartedly recommend these ones:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06XY7K875/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They are the film variety, but PET film, so no rubbery feel. These also benefit from being slightly curved at the edges (much like the TGSP's) so fit perfectly, with no lift. Have been using mine for 3 weeks now and its still firmly stuck on all edges, NO LIFTING!! And best of all, they work with cases too. Currently using it with a slim case, but it fits my Spiegen Neo Hybrid with no problems. And did I mention you get 3 in a pack. *drops the mic....walks off stage*
All jokes aside, these are a really good solution for screen protection with very few drawbacks.
P.S I do not work for this company nor is this recommendation being endorsed. Just passing on some invaluable knowledge to hopefully prevent someone else from buying almost every single variety of screen protector available.....not that I did that.....much.
honestly this screen protector thing is so long winded, and only for this phone as for all the others its been easy
there should be a section for uk screen protectors as we cant buy certain ones like the whitestonez version
finally got hold of this phone and cant decide what protector to get, has to be a good one as the screen is what it all is about

Pixel 4a Screen Protectors

Got a Pixel 4a in yesterday and a couple screen protectors. Here are my thoughts on them, in case this is useful for somebody.
[3 Pack]OMOTON Screen Protector for Google Pixel 4a, Easy-Install/Bubble Free/Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Pixel 4a
jaxidian said:
This screen protector has no cutout for the front-facing camera. They claim it's because a cutout causes the glass to break much more in that area. There is a bit of a notch for the earpiece speaker. It does come with a snap-on mounting guide to help you easily center the TGSP while installing. While it's not "full coverage", it does cover the full usable area of the screen. There is no adhesive, it does the suction/static cling thing that most screen protectors do today. I had some issues with some air bubbles that were always there (not from dust - I assume from imperfectly flat glass) but we'll give it a couple days to see if they go away. The screen protector fits nicely with a Caseology Parallax case with just a smidgen of a gap between the case and screen protector on all sides. The clarity and feel of the screen protector is just fine. I'm going to reserve judgment on whether or not this is a good permanent screen protector, but I definitely recommend this as a "cheap and good enough for now until we discover the great ones".

Good to hear about the Omoton. I was pretty satisfied with the one on my OnePlus 6T. Got it perfect the first time, no lint or bubbles underneath, and it's still that way a month later. That's what I ordered for the 4a that's on the way.
Bought a "Lightning King" (L[emoji298]K) for a 3a off Amazon for cheap. You get three glass protectors which have camera cut out. I'm very satisfied with this product... And I'm picky.

Purchased these off of Amazon and they seem okay until you try to get the edges to seal to the screen. Mine has a small gap I think because the actual screen protector is too big for the screen. So I would avoid.

Have the Omoton protector. Covers the usable screen, could be a bit wider, but it's better than their 3a protector, which distorted the edges of the display. No clarity issues, no installation issues. The cutout at the top of the screen for the speaker is unnecessarily wide. No hole punch. Reddit hasn't noticed a difference in selfie quality with/without a screen protector covering the camera.
My review of the Zagg Invisishield screen protector offered on the Google Play Store. Within 2 days of receiving the phone & applying the protector, I had thought I cracked my screen. Turned out to be the screen protector so Google is refunding me for that 40 bucks. Whew. Don't get tempered glass protectors. I hadn't dropped the phone or anything so the Zagg just decided to splinter and crack on its own.

They do make one and they're excellent. The installation is very easy with the supplied frame. It looks like it will work with pretty much any case.
I purchased the Mr. Shield screen protectors. I have had them for a few phones now and they always honor the lifetime warranty when I ask for replacements.
This one fits well. On the sides it is exactly as wide as the lit portion of the screen. No issue, but a tiny bit wider might have helped those who are not great with I stalls. Top and bottom are a little longer than the lit portion of the screen.
I will say this one does a very very good job fighting oils and fingerprints. I have not had to clean the screen once in 3 days.
Overall great price. They have great customer service and it fits well. If you have trouble installing screen protectors this one might be difficult as the width is exactly the same as the screen.

Any rainbow effect or adhesion issues on the edges?
Another down vote for Zagg. The corner with the cutout won't fully adhere to the screen.
I ordered ArmorShield. I had it on my last two phones and it was an excellent protector that lasted over two years. I had to order from the company because AMZ didn't have stock yet.

If you install it correctly it looks perfect. When you shift the phone side to side you can see one small line for the edge of pixels.
I am almost OCD about this stuff and it has not even captured my eye once. Just my 2 cents.

Easy install, all good. No issue with Spigen Crystalclear case. Has a cut out for the camera, we will see how it holds up.
Have used Ailun & SuperShieldz, along with a couple of others in the past, this time I decided to give "Lightning King" (LK) a try. Got 3 in the box, along with the alignment frame and plenty of cleaning supplies for installation. Installed the first one yesterday; went on fine, perfectly aligned, crystal clear, no conflict with the Spigen Tough Armor case, and looked to be of high quality, similar to Ailun & SuperShieldz. Totally satisfied.

Yep. First time I've ever bought them with an alignment frame included - worked very well.
I've never used a screen protector before, but now that a canister of cooking spray fell and broke my 3a XL's glass and display, I have an order for a 4a Just wondering, honestly, how well tempered screen protectors actually work. My understanding is that in theory, in my situation for example, instead of the glass/display being broken, a protector would have shattered first, more than likely saving the actual phone screen. Do these protectors help a whole lot, or not all that much in real world use if stuff falls on the phone, or you drop it and are unlucky that it should fall face-down on a hard surface? I do have an order for protectors on the way this time since it seems like it can't hurt.,

Over the years, I have chipped, cracked and, in one case, shattered screen protectors; but never had the phone screen damaged. In the vast majority of those cases, I'm sure there would have been damage to the phone. I also put cases on my phones, for the same reason.

Can you show how the LK protector fits the display? Like the camera cutout and how far past the display does the protector go or does it end with the display? I have a LK protector on my 3a and it's the best fitting protector I've ever had. I have a 4a coming and want to confirm if the LK protectors fit correctly before I order.
Thank you ?

Maybe check out some of the reviews/pictures/videos on Amazon. It looks like there are pictures of what you're asking for I bought the LK based on what I've read here, just waiting for my 4a and case, protectors,, to come in!
