Where is the black/gold - Moto Z Questions & Answers

As we see from many of the publicity photos, the Black\gold Moto Z can be very good looking ( smart, individual but not too flashy - especially with a discreet back)
However apart from Verizon in the US this version seems conspiciously absent.
Does anyone know if this will change as the verizon exclusive period expires or has anyone seen these versions available in any other region worldwide ( ideally unlocked )

I'd be curious to know this as well. I was holding out until the pre-order period ended on Motorola's site, hoping that they would then at least show the Black/Gold unlocked version as "Coming Soon", but when that didn't happen I broke down and bought the "Space Gray" version. On the plus side, it perfectly compliments the gray accents on the Hasselblad Camera Mod!

Missing in action

Actually I got the black "gold" and tbh its a salmon pink in real life. Was a bit disappointed about that; had expected something much more along the lines of the white/gold variant but instead got something that looks more like the iPhone's rose gold.
Make no mistake however, Motorola's site itself refers to it as rose gold.

Where did you get it? Is it a Verizon model, or Unlocked GSM?

Any external differences between S 2 models?

Probably dumb question (sorry!): Is there any exterior difference between the various 'flavors' of S2?
I'm mostly interested in differences that would affect a dock/car dock or a case as I'm about to order some stuff from the UK (mobilefun.co.uk). Now that's for the i9100, and I've got the T-Mobile variant
I'd been assuming that all S2s were the same externally (just different radios, antennas, etc.) - but now I see separate car docks for the At&T model and the T-Mobile model. I'm hoping that that's just some sort of marketing deal Samsung has with those carriers, but I thought I'd better check before making a trans-Atlantic oops.
Thanks!
I ran into the same thing with carrier specific cases. I believe the AT&T version has the speaker on the right instead of the left. Not sure about the T-mobile. Maybe check pictures/360 view on their website. They should have pics of their model not generic Samsung pics.
Good luck.
You should look up the specs of the individual phones. The T-Mobile version is bigger than the ATT and i9100 versions. From what I can tell the i9100 and the ATT versions are the same dimensionally. I'm using that ATT home and car docks with my i9100.
Yes there are some differences, especially between international models and USA versions,
for example, i've noticed a certain american version (forgot which one) has a bigger screen,
also another american version (AT&T) the buttons at the bottom of the phone are different than the international version.
Other than the internal differences ofcourse.
cheers
I found the multiple pages inside samsung's us website for the versions going to the different carriers:
t-mobile version 5.11" x 2.71" x .37" weight 4.77 display 4.52"
at&t version 5.15" x 2.75" x .37" weight 4.66 display 4.50"
sprint version 5.11" x 2.74" x .38" weight 4.60 display 4.52"
The speakers are, indeed, in different places, and the t-mobile version back is quite different, covers the entire back, including the speaker, which is on the left, as you look directly at the back.
I also ended up with a 'near field' equipped battery, so I guess there's gear to drive that as well.
Glad I asked, as I'd have ordered the wrong case from the UK. Pity as I really wanted that flip-cover screen protector, as I hate looking through screen protectors, but not nearly as much of a pity as having the wrong case in hand and trying to figure if it was worth shipping it back to the UK for a refund.
Thanks everyone!
Pleases note, that this is the wrong forum for the T-mobile SGS2, this is the right forum section.
Just a fyi before you try to flash anything and brick your phone.
Thanks! I hadn't gotten that far (still reading up - and clearly was reading up on the wrong stuff).

Exclusive to Rogers, AGAIN, only in black AGAIN!

Wow what a disaster.. The Lumia 920 is exclusive to Rogers again.. And even better ONLY IN BLACK! Wow.. I have never been more let down about a release for a phone. Nokia's been hyping up this phone since it was announced, showing off it's beautiful selection of colors all over Nokia Canada's Facebook page only to release it in the most boring and conservative colour.
I was waiting to buy this phone. I was even considering switching to Rogers from Telus just to be able to use tethering and MMS finally (because Nokia refuses to release the network setup app in Canada) and then hearing that black IS the only option is a big let down. Almost as much as restricting this phone to one carrier. You'd think Microsoft would want to try to breakthrough the Canadian market finally and release this phone on all carriers (like the Galaxy S3) but nope, Rogers is good enough for them. They'll be lucky if they sell more 920's than 900's this year.
Sorry just had to vent.
I read on mobilesyrup that perhaps the exclusivity only lasts for a month (speculation)

[Q] Sub-Model and Case Fitment?

Been searching for a case to order so I will have it ready to go when my Note II finally ships. However, I'm seeing some information on ebay indication that some of the cases only fit the GT-N7100 model and will not fit other sub-models? I was under the impression that there was no difference is shape/size among any of the carrier variants? Can someone confirm?
Here's just one such case that I found that alludes to fitment differences among the variants.
Black Flip Case for Note II
I have heard talks about the edges may being different, but I really doubt it. This hasn't been confirmed and from the leaked pictures the phones look exactly the same. I'm pretty sure the only reason the USA has different models is due to carrier frequencies and technologies (GSM & CDMA).

I hope you're right and am keeping my fingers crossed. However, it does give me pause in pre-purchasing some accessories for the phone.
I was hoping there was a way to use the front cover with replacement battery door and a case but it looks impossible unless someone made one specifically for it. You would think Samsung would have had the genius to design one.

Availability in September/October 2016? [INDIA]

Hey guys, Much love
I just wanted to know about the next sales for the device, since there is only one variant currently available (GOLD, which I am not going to buy). Does anyone have any suggestions? I am very fond of the Silver 32 GB variant.
There is open sale now forever so no more flash sales. There is no issue in Gold variant. But as your choice, silver variant will be there in sale, so be patient and keep searching on www.amazon.in
The Stock's would be up in few weeks or days ,maybe see TataCliq they still have the Device (White Version) out of stock wait for few days and it would be back again
Bro Tip: White Version has Black Bezels inside Display Visible too much
Get the Grey One it doesn't have Black Bezel

ZTE has stopped selling the Axon 7 on ebay!

http://www.ebay.com/sch/zteusainc/m...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
They still sell it on the regular website and Best Buy and New Egg are still selling them on ebay. But this is very interesting that they have stopped selling it on ebay.
If they don't have any stock, how would they be running anything on eBay? I don't think ebay lets you run pre-orders and such. I'd bet it will come back up when stock arrive shortly.
It's no about stock actually.
They don't want non-US users to get the chance to buy the US model outside of the US. Which you were able to using eBay.
I was told by BHPhoto that they are restricted by ZTE to sell the device to non-US customers.
The US version is the better one compared to the international model.
Lucky me I have a buddy in NY area who got the newegg pre-order of the grey version and will forward it to me. I'm in Europe and have tested the A2017G. Sent it back as I'm waiting for the A2017U (US Model).
how is that the U model is better then G?

Could you please detail why G version would be worse than U. It is same hardware and only modem is different but modem behaves better in G as read comments anywhere? What do you expect from U? If you have software issues I am sure that if any is fixed in one of two it will be sorted out on other one too.

Actually only a few points that tipped it over for me in favor for the U version.
A: Better Software support from ZTE USA.
B: The U version has VoLTE which is supported in ROM/Baseband. The G version does not and never will. (Not supported in the modem firmware).
C: U version allows you to enter EDL mode (Qualcomms Emergency Download Mode). I need this as I'm a dev. The G version can only enter DFU mode.
D: All the band's that are required in my Euro country and in the US are supported. I travel to friends in the US and don't want to have to switch phones.
E: With the newegg pre-order you were given free headphones for around 200$. After customs it will be the same price as the G version in euros but with additional free high quality headphones.
F: My buddy tested the phone for "bad signal reception" and other faults/defects I mentioned to look out for. For over a week before sending the device over. Else I would have told him to send it back.
He is using an OP3 and even compared them as a daily driver. He said it's on par with the OP3. He even said the Axon7 is like "stuck on 4G" while his OP3 loses 4G occasionally and gets 3G only.
He is an experienced IT tech. I trust his judgement.
He is even thinking about selling his OP3 and to grab an Axon7 as soon as CM is done.

The G model has a lower volume cap, possibly due to EU regulations, while the U model has a much higher cap. The G model also seems to have more issues with bootloader unlocking, while the U model is pretty straight forward.

Thanks for the details. You see it from developer point of view mainly as I see.
A) I don't know. May be but as I see much less G related problem was reported than U.
B) May be but Volte is not as wide spreaded in EU as in US. as far as I know. Otherwise It looks that workaroud (if not the final solution) for signal issue of US model is turning Volte off, so you can get in same boat easily.
C) I don't know how important it is for avaradge users. Orherwise it is also software fearure if I understand it well.
D) You are lucky. Not eveeybody can say that US bands cover of his/her country exactly.
E) Just because of this fact US version is not better. It is only cheaper.
F) It is strange because mostly US users complain for signal reception. I haven't had any issue with. G. It works perfectly and expectedly in big city as well as low signal country area. As I mentioned earlier it looks that workaroud (if not the final solution) for signal issue of US model is turning Volte off.
Also I read that overwriting field APN manually can solve few cell issues. I did it due to orher reason and I don't have any issue.
So after all you didn't mentioned anything why U would be better for users except Volte. It is just your taste and chance to get it cheaper.

That's why I said it's only a few points for _me_ and not for _all_ users.
And as I have a chance to get all those pros for the same price in the end it is a no brainer.
Also I do not believe that the antenna is so much different to the G model. It is more likely that a few batches had a bad antenna build-in and when ZTE realized that, due to complains, new batches after the affected one's were sent off, were all build with a better antenna in place.
The Chinese and US Models were on the first batches. The international ones were produced later. Look into Chinese forums complaining about reception problems.
Unfortunate it is how the greedy corporate industry world works today. Sell those affected phones until enough users complain. If they complain, offer an exchange. If they don't they made profit.
Just look at the Samsung Note 7 disaster. Same **** is happening there.
Not to mention Samsungs Panel Lottery for their TV which has been going on for a decade.
I worked for Huawei Europe HQ and could write a book about how corporations do their quality check behind the doors. Just saying I'm never gone touch a Huawei phone because of what I know.
(Don't ask I signed an nondisclosure agreement.)
In the end it's on you to decide if you want to keep the phone or not. Or if you want to pay 399$ with more pros or 449euro for more cons.
Isn't the chinese A2017 model better than the rest? I mean... like, you know... 6gb RAM vs 4gb... 128gb internal vs 64... and you can use all the U unlocks/tools w/ no issue?
Seems that many of you forget that having US version in Europe you are out of warranty.
To many customers warranty is very important to them.
Also EU has 3 years warranty policy while US 2 years.
I'm having a month now both gold and gray G version and no reception /WiFi issue at all.
Compared to my S7 Edge the call reception is the same level and WiFi is better.
Also G version will have in coming weeks official root and boot loader unlocked from ZTE without loosing the warranty.
Even that US version is getting first the official software updates it's just matter of time(less than 1 month) until G version also received the software update for the specific region(Europe)

Just curious does the u model comes from the ZTE USA down in texas? I presumed warranty is by them as well?

You could be right. That's how the world works. You also are not enemy of your money as well as no one else.
Regarding the price I would say that EU price contains the average 21% EU VAT. So it means that price of EU version would be between $410 or 415 in US. So it is not a big deal. Also I think that EU citizens should pay duty if they import from US but it is already off topic.

They do. Just not on specific electronics like Notebooks, Computer Hardware, Cell phones etc
Oddly enough, amazon has also stopped selling the phone. I guess it could just be sold out though.
Hm, still "in stock" at amazon.com:
https://www.amazon.com/ZTE-Axon-unl...TF8&qid=1476347129&sr=8-3&keywords=zte+axon+7
Amazon.com has gold for $399.98, but the grey (which is what I want...) is $479.00. What gives???
