Are you having any failures or problems with wireless charging on the V10? - Verizon LG V10

I read on Amazon (regarding the LG CPR-120 wireless charging cover) and on the ATT LG V10 XDA forum that LG manufactured the V10 using a defective IDT P9025A wireless charging chip and the result is that the wireless charging fails in short order (after up to a week). But someone over on the ATT version XDA site reported that he bought his V10 in February 2016 and he's not having any problems with the chip failing. So, I'm wondering if in later production of the V10, LG updated the chip to a non-defective version (the IDT P9025AC).
Is anyone NOT having problems with wireless charging? If so, can you say when you bought the phone (or the date of manufacture)? Also, if you have a back or charging sticker recommendation, that would be helpful as well.
Thanks

Ya I'm on the Verizon side I bought the door from Amazon and I posted a big warning about the faulty chip Set Used witch was the same one from the G4 and the chip manufacturer wrote LG telling them to stop using it and use there new one to stop them from burning out. But LG didn't lesson they continue to use the faulty ones in our device. So we end up with the same out come. No QI charging after a while. Mine burnt out in less then a week.

[Q] Optimus T from ebay: touchscreen goes haywire, did I get the wrong charger?

I just got my first Android phone, an LG Optimus T from eBay. I'm loving it, however the touchscreen is extremely flaky while the phone is charging. Googling this problem suggests that this is a common problem with cheap phone chargers.
The eBay ad said that the phone was basically new and that the box would contain all of the things that it came with. The charger that was in the box, in an opened plastic bag has no LG branding anywhere on it. It does not have a USB port on the charger, just a permanent cord with the MicroUSB plug on the end. It just has a small label that says "Travel Charger/Type TGR-025/Input:AC110V-240V/OutputC 5V-12V".
My question is: Is this the charger that came with the phone when it was brand new in the T-Mobile packaging? Or, did the seller send me a crappy charger in the original box instead of the real deal? Is there anyone here who bought the same phone direct from T-Mobile and can clarify what their charger looks like?
Thanks for any help you can offer. Based on your responses, I will take this up with the eBay seller and get it made right.

I ordered two chargers from ebay, and both of them have USB ports on them that you plug a USB cable into (with a microUSB at one end). Sounds like you did NOT get everything that came with it, and you should complain to the seller/ask for some money back.
I got the T-Mobile Optimus T phones (which are identical to the Optimus One), but I don't know if they come bundled with the exact same chargers or not.
Same problem
I have the original charger and i have the same problem with the touchscreen when i charge the phone...
any solution? or its a bug of the software?
when I use my friends htc desire data/charger cable to connect my phone to pc to charge, the touch screen goes retarded. but when I connect my own cable, the phone works perfectly. so it could be either the cable or charger.
the original charger comes with a small sticker that says travel adaptor and there us an lg logo in front of it.

[Q] weak signal reception after changing micro-usb flex

Hi,
I had a problem with the micro-usb port/charger in my galaxy s2. It was what others have already described (constantly charging/not charging, voltage too high messages, etc). So I decided to buy a spare part for the charger, and replace it .
The first time I turned it on, The charger problem was completely solved, but I noticed the signal was gone. I realized I forgot to connect the antenna. So I opened it again and connected it. The antenna is a HF cable which connects to one end to the main board, and to the other end to the spare part I bought.
After reconnecting the cable I saw an improvement, but the signal is still much worse that before replacing it for the first time.
I bought the part here (German language):
[] IShallNotPostLinksAsANewUset []
Could it be this replacement part?? Might be a capacity adjustment problem? I don't know how are usuallry phone antennas designed. I don't know either if this part plays an important role for the antenna (it is anyway connected to the cable).
What can it be? What would you do to recover antenna sensitivity? (I do not have the broken part, it is already gone )
Best regards

Hi, after having had the same problems with charging, I also changed the micro-USB flex circuit/cable. I bought it in the UK from e-cell (on ebay) ... and same as you, I am not able to get 3G anymore, only G! Charging is solved, 3G is gone!
I do have the old part still ... will put it back on and see what happens.
UPDATE:
OK, I put the original part back in ... and 3G/H was immediately back. I can also see that the network strength is the same as with the replacement part (so it doesn't seem to be a defective antenna cable or so), but now it picks up UMTS and HSPA+, while the replacement part only caught GPRS. So what this means is that the replacement part is not the same as the original ... probably the same problem you have.
At the same time there was no miracle and the original part is still no charging unfortunately ...
I had ordered 2 other replacement parts in HongKong which should arrive in a couple of weeks ... will try those when they arrive, and hopefully at least one of them will solve the charging AND the 3G issue!
UPDATE 2:
While driving around with the phone with the replacement part, sometimes I do get E/3G/H+ signals, so it appears that the part is able to handle these ... but maybe only when the signal is very strong? Or maybe there are different types of E/3G/H+ signals?
Hi,
Experiencing the exact same behaviour, the signal is really bad (never above 3 bars). I'm going to open the phone tomorrow to make sure I left the antenna cable properly connected, but judging from what I'm seeing here, I believe the issue is with the small circuit with the USB port. I bought my part from e-cell as well....
Thank you very much for your answers guys. Now I know that my problem is not unusual. however in my case the 2g signal receptiony is also to degradated. Please keep us posted when you get the spare parts from Hong Kong. If they work I will also order 1 myself.

OK, good news ... today I got my second part, and this one seems to work just fine! 3G and H+ are back! And of course it charges.
As I ordered 2 different parts at the same time from HongKong, I am not 100% sure which one I got, but I am quite confident it is the one from mingxing200808. The item I bought is sold out now, but he relisted it (at higher price: 6.90 USD vs 3.90 USD that I paid, still worth it though). Note that the picture posted is not the same as the part shipped (which was newer, at least in my case). Also note that you need to reuse the rubber cover of the microphone (e-cell included that rubber piece). There is also no adhesive on the mingxing part, but as far as I can see you don't need that either.
Good luck!

Hi Guys, I have had this problem also after replacing the usb board, it has been a nightmare thinking that other parts may have been water damaged I replaced the loudspeaker and inner chassis which both have antenna components. After reading your post I ordered a used part from gaproducts on ebay at £3.85 and my phone is now perfect. By the way the defective one was from china via ebay and supposed to be genuine. Wish I had seen this post a month ago it would have saved me so much hassle, but hopefully will help others.
This is strange, i have the same problem after changing the Flex Cable + Charging port. I bought it from ebay (user name yake-gandi3388) so be careful. I requested a refund or replacement but not sure what the answer will be. The phone never connects now to HSDPA (H), it always stays on EDGE (E). On top of that the signal is somehow weaker than before, not significantly, but I can notice it
I thought that the Flex Cable+Charging Port are not linked to Antenna performance in any way Can someone more experienced explain a bit?
Also, anyone tested an aftermarket flex cable+charging port that is working ok, including the antenna performance and full 3G connection?
Thanks!!!
Ive followed about 10 threads about changing usb boards.About 1 person was happy, and the other 9 got other problems.
When they put their "faulty" one back in,the "new" problems vanished.
Most were replacing the board because of usb problem.
I thought they were buying faulty replacements. For all I know someone at Samsung could be "recycling" faulty parts..

I'm experiencing the exact same problems!! What's weird is that with other carriers (that work in different frequencies) my phone works just fine... I'll try buying another flex cable and will tell you the results.

Strange... I will try to check with other providers as well. On my side, I have re-contacted the Ebay member and he offered me an additional Flex Cable with no extra charge. Nice commercial initiative, however I am afraid that the next one will have the same issues Will keep you updated once it arrives.
Got this as well. I changed my USB board after it developed charging problems. The first one gave me a flashing battery icon & one of the screw holes didn't line up also. The next one fitted fine but I'm sure my signal is weaker. Compared to my friends S1 on the same network. He gets a stronger signal than me, stood in the same place. Replaced my loud speaker/antenna as I've also replaced the back chassis and think prising the speaker out might of damaged it. Think I'll try another USB board to see if it improves :S the 2nd board had the same Rev. number on it but looked slightly different to the original. (Sadly dont have the original to put back in to test)

I am signed up for a solution to this problem.
I had charging issues with the old port and replaced the board. The new board only allowed for an intermittent 1 signal bar. I put the original faulty board back in and had full signal immediately.
I ordered a second board and have the same issue. No/1 signal bar. Cannot make calls, it tells me "mobile network not available." I can connect to wi-fi with no issues though.
Unless a fix is found I am considering taking one of the new boards and my old board into a service shop and having the usb ports swapped.
Galaxy S2 SGH-i777 (AT&T)
I received a 3rd charging port board today, this one works some, but not as good as original. I'll post the number's printed on the board with there results in the phone.
Original Board: GT-i9100 REV2.2
R.B83 35
Original board worked great until it started having issues with charging/high voltage.
Replacement Board 1: GT-i9100 REV2.3
R.C42 10
This board would charge the phone and connect it to the computer, but would not connect to a network and would give no signal or a temporary 1 bar signal.
Replacement Board 2: R.B54
GT-i9100 REV2.2
This board would charge the phone and connect it to the computer, but would not connect to a network and would give no signal or a temporary 1 bar signal.
Replacement Board 3: GT-i9100 REV2.2
R.B83 36
This board both charges and connects the phone to the computer and it allows for a network signal. The network signal is not quite as good as my stock, but I think it will do.
I do not know what the board numbers mean, but I would guess the REV2.3 is an updated version of the REV 2.2. I think the compatability issue may come in the R._ numbers as Replacement Board 3 is the only one that works and is the closest R._ match. Maybe someone with far more expertise can shed some light on it, but this is my experience.

The USB board has the contacts to connect to the antenna in the back of the chassis. So replacing it with a sub standard part is affecting signals

Please let us know the vendor name on Ebay. As mentioned in my previous post, the vendor (user name yake-gandi3388) agreed to change my replacement with no extra charges. I installed the new piece...the signal is a bit better than previous one...but still lower than the original.
Can anyone advise a vendor that sells replacement part Flex Cable with a strong signal?

I an sorry for for the delay. I live in Germany and I use O2 ( umts frequency in the 2100 Mhz band) . I ordered the part from Hong Kong which Geronymous cited, didn't want to make specific advertising. The user is mingxing200808.
Regarding the question why does this affect the antenna, it is because antennas need to have a certain capacitive load in order to be adjusted and to transmit in a certain frequency range. If the antenna is not adjusted the signal will be reflected back . This capacitance is defined by the geometry of the antenna and might be changed/adjusted by elements connected to the end of the antenna. So the flex part acts as an adjusted capacity load for the antenna.
This is a very rough description, but I hopeit helps.

Finally got my 3rd USB board and my signal has improved a lot! Hurrah! Got from tjuk1980 on eBay. This board is a darker blue, looks a lot better than my second board which was a lighter greener colour, the logo and writing didn't seem as clear as it does on the new one. Getting 3 of 4 bars on H+ at home where as before it would stay on G and if it did pick up 3G/H by chance it wouldn't show any bars.

[Q] Problem with wireless charging.

I have had my G3 for two weeks now and am very happy with it. I dumped my Droid 3, so as you can imagine, it's a huge leap in technology and power to go from the Droid 3 to a G3. I decided I wanted to start doing wireless charging as I saw several others in other forums talking about their shells getting cracked or damaged from excessive force needed to insert the usb cable to charge the phone. It does seem like it could eventually lead to some heavy wear and tear.
So I did some research and a lot of reading, and purchased the following charger and back cover and I can't get wireless charging to work at all. The reviews on the charger appear to be very positive and according to the description on EBAY, the back cover will work on the Verizon G3. The pins appear to line up correctly and I have tried moving the phone all over the mat but no luck. Could one of the apps I have frozen in Titanium Backup be preventing this from working? I basically only froze the crapware stuff. Is there a setting somewhere that needs to be configured? I have an email out to the EBAY person I bought the cover from but have not gotten a response yet. Ideas? Suggestions?

Does your new cover have 4 pins space correctly? I know in the past, some vendors from ebay were sending out only the NFC cases on accident and calling them Qi covers.
The charger you got is a knock off of the TYLT charger, so it could possibly be something with that charger too. If you have a Verizon store near by, Id go down and see if they ahve any Qi chargers setup. Each one I have gone into always had at least one so I could test if my things were working.
The new back cover definitely has 4 pins and from the best I can tell, they match up. I will definitely try your Verizon store idea when i can find a store.

Qi Wireless Charging Back: Working on VZW G3?

I just bought an OEM Verizon Qi charging phone back, and two different Qi chargers. All sourced from Amazon, and listed as their best sellers.
Neither would connect to the phone and provide wireless charging. I am RMA-ing the new phone back to rule it out.
Could being on a custom ROM be interfering? I am on SkyDragon 4.0. I don't want to bother the dev on it, if it is a hardware problem.
Anyone else have a similar configuration that worked?

as far as i know, there is no "oem" charging backs available. you can buy an aftermarket sticker to make it work though.
anyways, the sticker should have 4 contact points, not 2. if you have that, the only way to properly verify its working is to put stock back on.
yes, it should work on SD, but to rma a device, without verifying the issue on the clean stock it was intended to run on is just not smart.
Yep, my back has four contacts, to match the internal contacts on teh phone.
it is branded LG and "Verizon 4G LTE", same as my original, hence why I referred to it as OEM.
I believe they made them standard for sale in Rest of World and optional for the US.
It is hard for me to believe that the charging on those two pins would be disabled in software, but considering the ridiculousness of US carriers, I put nothing past them. Which is why I wanted to know if anyone had one that worked.
I didn't RMA the phone, just the 4-pin optional Qi charging back plate. To call someone "not smart," when you clearly have no grasp of the facts...that's not smart.
I do know from experience that AOSP roms do break wireless charging, but SkyDragon is based off of stock, so it should work just fine.

i can only comment on what you post, and dont pretend to understand what you mean while vaguely explaining it.
what i perceive from your post appeared to be "not smart", and thats how i called it.
now that you have clarified, even returning the back plate before verifying the issue on clean stock, is not smart, but hey, its your time and money to do with as you wish.
good luck with that
Have you checked the other threads on this already?
There are only a few places to get the parts that enable wireless charging on the G3. As far as I know, the only official OEM part that verizon sells is the flip case. Any others are either the Sticker type, or an OEM part imported from europe, to get the correct 4 pin option, (Both at&t and korean variant parts will not work, as the 4 pins do not align correctly for the verizon phone.) and neither would have the verizon logo on it, unless it was an aftermarket mod from a third party, and I'd be a bit weary of those, personally. So I'm a little confused on the 4 pin, verizon logo part of your message. Still, if it is a correctly modified original part, with an aftermarket sticker attached on it, it should work on stock, and on most roms based of stock, like SD's ROM.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N29ECGE
Bought one from Amazon last week from a US seller who unfortunately doesn't seem to be listed anymore (sold out?). Back was OEM with only the LG logo, and had the Qi+NFC pins in the correct place for the VS985 (the AT&T/Asian models had their pins aligned slightly differently).
Works with my Qi charger fine, and I too am running SD 4.0, as I value battery life.

I have actually used quite a few AOSP roms and they seemed to have fixed it. I've been using PA for about 3 months now and its been working this whole time. Also on my wife's G3 CM12's wireless charging works for her. Just thought i would let you know in case you wanted to try it out again. I'm using some cheap wireless sticker from amazon and all is working on both of our phones
EDIT: This is what i purchased http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Charging-Antenna-Sticker-T-mobile/dp/B00MWS5L34/ref=sr_1_2?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1445349009&sr=1-2&keywords=lg+g3+qi+wireless+charging+sticker
Thanks for those constructive posts. Good to know that any issues I may be having are likely hardware. That points me in a good direction.
I should be receiving the replacement back today, so I can see if the problem is my phone core or the accessories.
Yeah, it's weird that the phone back would have Verizon branding, especially if it isn't their part. I can't see an advantage to doing that. The silkscreen looks identical to the OEM back that shipped with the phone.
EDIT: Ah ha! Now I understand what happened. This is the product: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NL9GWPY?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01 I sort of blindly purchased, since it had a good rating. I now see that the seller has taken OEM backs and retrofitted them with a sticker! it's the same deal that you can do for six bucks, and not OEM. So, I am a stooge because I didn't read the fine print.
Amazon is not the place for popular items.

A couple weeks ago I also search for a genuine LG/Verizon charging back, so that I wouldn't have to mess with a "stick-on" solution. While the items looked promising at first blush, a little research showed that there is no such device as a "genuine LG/Verizon charging back", despite what is obviously marked as such. The genuine charging back from Verizon is a clamshell-like cover, that apparently doesn't fit well with the usual belt clips. Life is like that.
Sadly, Amazon has become a haven for scammers offering counterfeit products of all types. A few months ago, I wanted to buy a power adapter for my Samsung tablet. The price on Samsung's site was $35; the price from all of the vendors on Amazon was $10, for devices clearly marked with the Samsung logo. However, reading the reviews showed that they were all cheap counterfeits that often failed in a month or two.
I have come to the point of only buying stuff on Amazon, that Amazon buys directly from the manufacturer. Ie, "sold by and ships from Amazon", not "sold by <whomever> and ships from Amazon".
As they say, "buyer beware".

Yeah, it's weird that the phone back would have Verizon branding, especially if it isn't their part. I can't see an advantage to doing that. ...

Okay, now you do (grin).
Thanks, Dean. You're absolutely right.
I received the second replacement "wireless charging & NFC" cover, last night. Still doesn't work on my phone. But, it looks like a new Verizon cover, just one that had some yahoo replace the original NFC antenna with a cheap knockoff that purportedly would charge.
Ah, well, I got a new, unscratched G3 phone back plate and learned a lesson.

I have actually used quite a few AOSP roms and they seemed to have fixed it. I've been using PA for about 3 months now and its been working this whole time. Also on my wife's G3 CM12's wireless charging works for her. Just thought i would let you know in case you wanted to try it out again. I'm using some cheap wireless sticker from amazon and all is working on both of our phones
EDIT: This is what i purchased http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Charging-Antenna-Sticker-T-mobile/dp/B00MWS5L34/ref=sr_1_2?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1445349009&sr=1-2&keywords=lg+g3+qi+wireless+charging+sticker

I want to try again, but my phone was just replaced by VZW, and it has 35B. I'm treading lightly on the recovery/rooting until I do enough research to be confident in my next attempt. I REALLY miss CM.
I have the original back cover and the only way that the qi charger works when I raise up the pad...

Is the LS992 charging module compatible with the H830 mobo?

Hi.
I imported an LS992 not knowing what firmware version it was beforehand (I knew I was taking a risk but it was in mint condition and real cheap) unfortunately it was LS992ZVF - neither the hiddenmenu apk or my octoplus dongle/software can do anything with this firmware version....
....so I imported an unlocked H830 mobo.
Now when I replaced the mobo and turned it on it comes up please insert a compatible module.
Before I go on ebay/amazon and get a module designated for the H830 (possibly even the cam plus module for the extra 1200mah battery) I just wanna know is it truly definite an ls992 charging module will not work on an H830 mobo or could it possibly be the minor damage to some of the H830 mobo pins that go into the charging module port?
--If the LS992 port is supposed to work then I will hit the seller of the H830 mobo up about the board and get a refund
--If it is not supposed to work at all then I don't mind risking $10 to get a cam plus and try that because if that doesn't work also and the minor board damage is indeed affecting the pins then I will hit up seller/refund/get a diff replacement mobo.
Thanks.
