Unbranded stock rom on branded device - Sony Xperia X Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
I want to buy an Xperia X. The version I would buy (F5121) is branded by an Italian carrier (TIM). Could I install an unbranded stock rom on it ? Do I need do unlock the bootloader or something, voiding the warranty? I'm asking because I would like to receive software updates as soon as possible.
Thanks everyone.

You can use flashtool to flash any stock rom you want. No need to unlock bootloader so you wont void warranty

In case of problems in the future, could I bring the device directly to sony with the unbranded firmware (FULL STOCK, NO ROOT AND LOCKED BOOTLOADER) or do I have to revert it to the original stock branded firmware? I'm afraid that thay could maybe refuse my warranty.
Thanks

the last time I returned a sony phone I relocked the bootloader and flashed a stock ftf. It was no problem. Dont think it matters if its branded or not

[Q] [SK17] Can't get into fast boot and bootloader unlock says no.

Phone was recently bought in Canada signed to Rogers. Flashed new firmware onto it, version 4.0.A.2.368. Could Rogers branding it is stopping the bootloader from being unlocked? I assumed that flashing generic firmware onto phone would also debrand phone.
I'm afraid you can't unlock the bootloader because your phone is branded...
Flashing another firmware will not debrand your phone...
maybe you should wait till developers find a solution or debrand your phone(if it's possible).
Ah yes, I had assumed that since it's branded I could not unlock bootloader. Searching around google i found a site that confirmed branded phones needed to be unlocked before bootloader is open.
Devs close thread please.
Have a look at this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037874
...I don't know if it could be useful for your device though..

Sorry for offtopic, but:
Where exactly do I find the official SE bootloader unlock page? And can I revert it to retain the warranty?

[Q] No official SE Neo update from Orange UK?

Hi guys!
Thanks in advance for your help on this matter!
I have been patiently waiting for the official ICS update to arrive for my SE NEO (MT15) since way back when. I know O2 publicly announced they weren't going to bother updating but does anyone know if the Orange UK (now EE) will ever update this phone? Its SI is 1253-7641 if that is any help? Sony are no longer updating their thread of SI numbers so all might be lost in the change from SE to Sony and from Orange to EE!!
I have looked at doing this manually but am worried that as my phone is network locked I might brick it. Also in order to use custom ROMs there seems to be some touch-point modification which worries me too! (I might be wrong on these things).
Thanks again for your time!
1st thing you need to Unlock it from the Network, then unlock the boot loader (optional), & then Install the custom Rom whatever ICS ROM you like or even stock one.

Doesn't network unlock require a testpoint procedure? I know bootloader does. I am very hesitant to fiddle with hardware like that.
If information on whether or not Orange (EE) are going to ever produce an update I might wait until my contract runs out in a couple of months and get a new phone!
If you just want to use stock fw, simply flash it with falshtool, no need for SIM unlock or bootloader unlock.

[Q]XTZ Cyanogen to stock

Hello
I'im from France with a SGP311 XTZ. I bought a used one with Cyanogen mod already installed. I'd like to back in stock version but i dont where to start. Is it possible ? Do i need a specific french SGP311 firmware ? Is there DRM problem with bootloader ?
Thx for your help
Since you bought it with bootloader unlocked already, you probably don't have your DRM anymore. However, to go back to stock, just flash any SGP311 fw with Flashtools, any version you want.
Ok thx. What is the matter with having no DRM ? I can't relock bootloader and avoid my warrantly?
You can relock and have your warranty back, but DRM were lost once you unlock your bootloader. You can't restore it from another device, because if you do you will end with a huge paperweight

[Q] EU generic firmware?

Hello, I just bought a Z2 (D6503) that is never locked (SIM free), boot loader unlocked allowed YES but it has Vodafone firmware on it (Germany). Where do I get an EU generic firmware and how do I flash it?
Unfortunately Z2 is just released and there aren't any tutorials so that's why I'm asking you. Can I take the files from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2666849 and use this tool: http://www.flashtool.net/download.php to do it? Do I need to unlock the boot loader first? I would rather not do it if possible (yet).
Thank you.

Flashing Official Sony Firmware

Hi,
I've seen a few threads here about flashing unbranded firmware, I have a Telstra branded (Australian) Z5C . I want to know if I can use the flashtool to flash an unbranded firmware WITHOUT unlocking my bootloader or voiding my warranty in any way. Can someone confirm that I can do this?
Long story short I don't want to wait for Telstra to "optimise" Marshmallow for 6 months before I get the update. I would like to be able to get it as soon as sony releases it.
Any help appreciated, Cheers.
You don't need an unlocked bootloader to flash an official firmware. Plus, if you want warranty, you can flash back the telstra firmware when needed
